This week I sit down to chat (and laugh) with Chris Eggleston and Johan Hermijanto from Bates Smart about the office's upcoming exhibition, Time + Space as part of Melbourne Design Week 2019. The exhibition explores the design process, with a focus on the amount of time required to create space. Using the recently completed Club Stand designed by Bates Smart for Victoria Racing Club as a case study, the installation showcases a layered exploration of process and outcome.

On this week's episode of the podcast I chat with Harcourts CEO Tony Morrsion to get his thoughts on the state of the market. Tony is of the view that auction clearance rates aren't necessarily a true reflection of the state of the market. We also discuss Tony's history with the business and how and why he made the movie from Tasmania to Melbourne.

This week I catch up with a really good friend and former colleague of mine, Isaac Mortimer, who is a senior CGI Artist at FKD Studio. We chat about his transition from architecture into the world of CGI visualisation, how it came about, what he finds so interesting about it and his advice for anyone looking to take it up as a career.

This week Alastair and I briefly chat about the new VRC Club Stand at Flemington which has been unveiled in time for the Melbourne Cup. We also discuss Melbourne Airport's master plan vision which includes the proposed location for an Airport Station as part of the AirRail Melbourne proposal being considered by the State Government as well as some cosmetic upgrades to terminals and changed vehicular access. A few election topics are covered including more level crossings and planning zones from Mentone through to Frankston. Alastair also laments the lack of bus love in Melbourne from either side of politics.

In today's episode of the Urban.com.au weekly podcast, I catch up with two old friends who also happen to be the co-founders of Atlas Architects. Based in Footscray, the architecture practice was established in 2015 by Aaron Neighbour and Ton Vu after studying at RMIT together and then working in Graeme Gunn's office for a period of time.
