After missing out on the lakes entirely last week—bar a few fleeting, frustrating hours by the river—I was itching for a proper session. The river had been enjoyable in its own way, but watching Chub ignore my hookbait for five hours tested my patience more than usual. You can catch up on all the drama from my last blog or video, but suffice to say, I was ready to return to somewhere with a proper bedchair, bivvy, and the solid thump of a big carp. This week, I'd cleared the decks: three nights at my disposal. I'd planned to arrive at the lake around 2pm on day one, but the weather forecast looked atrocious. Every radar I checked showed a deluge sweeping across the South. So, I took the gamble—called off my gardening jobs and pointed the van towards Ringwood. Looking back now, I probably jumped the gun. The rain just didn't show up near the lakes. Classic.

"Looking back, I can now see that {taking a break from collegiate running} was actually me listening to my body. And I actually feel I did the brave thing, taking that time off.” Kate Ringwood is an eating disorder (ED) therapist, working with clients in treatment and recovery to improve and/or mold their relationship to movement and sports. She's been a runner since she was 10, and competed at the collegiate level while navigating her own ED and healing process. Kate took a year off of running and training with her team, and talks about the importance of that year for her overall wellbeing, her relationship to running and competing, and her longevity in the sport. We also talk about what the Higher Levels of care, aka HLOC, mean in the ED treatment world, and what her work as looked like at various levels. You'll find Kate at serendipitycounseling.com. Joining Hassan in the studio this week is a man who is famed for his crazy European adventures which span over decades, it's Poingdestre Angling Centres' Mike Brown.Mike has gained a reputation for his incredible angling exploits fishing the likes of Lac du Der , Rainbow, Cassein and a huge arrange of public waters spread over Europe. In fact he has been doing these trips before this type of angling was as popular as it is now. He talks about how this came to be, what drives him and always has to this style of angling as well as an array of incredible stories and insight into his European angling.Mikes also talks about his UK chapters with his grounding around Ringwood. This is an area of Mikes angling that is more unknown but without surprise he sexily always had the ability to catch them. He shares stories about his carp fishing development and influences as well and how this lead him to work in the trade also.Mike is a humble yet incredible angler who has found what he wants and has always beat the crowds in search of carp fishing at its purist.
This month we have Mr Stogleman himself, Nick Dunn. We take a trip down memory lane as he recalls his time on some special Ringwood venues that once contained some incredible carp, fish that managed to stay fairly hidden from the public eye for many years. We also delve into his love for Cows, Corkballs, Old Carp and of course his close friendships. Those that have made the Ringwood scene so special. Mark and Mike also cover some home truths of diet, they delve into mouth damage before finishing off with a dissection of the recent Fox underwater film. Enjoy.
