*** Content Warning: serial killer, extreme violence ***In early 1993, Frankston resident Donna received a series of unnerving prank calls. Afraid of being home alone, she accompanied her boyfriend during his pizza delivery shift, only to return home to find her worst fears had come true. Her pet cats had been killed, and written in blood on the lounge room wall were the words: ‘Donna, you're dead.' This marked the beginning of a five-month crime spree that terrorised locals and resulted in the murders of three young women – Elizabeth Stevens, Deborah Fream and Natalie Russell. The perpetrator was dubbed ‘The Frankston Serial Killer', but who was he, and when would he strike again?---Casefile Archives is a series of special bonus releases revisiting the earliest years of the show. The re-run episodes have been completely edited, polished, re-recorded and freshly produced from start to finish to match our current production standards. They are not complete rewrites - our goal wasn't to alter the cases or reshape the writing, but to preserve the original storytelling while giving the production the refinement it didn't have when we started the show back in 2016. Where appropriate, updates have been added, but the core structure and storytelling remain faithful to the originals. Because of this, these re-releases may sound a little different to our recent episodes, but they allow us to bring some of the earliest episodes up to the technical quality listeners expect today.---Narration – Anonymous HostResearch & writing – Anonymous HostAdditional writing & editing – Erin MunroProduction & music – Mike MigasAudio editing – Anthony TelferSign up for Casefile Premium:Apple PremiumSpotify PremiumPatreonFor all credits and sources, please visit https://casefilepodcast.com/casefile-archives-9-the-frankston-serial-killer Hosted on Acast. Interview by Kris PetersHZED is a powerhouse riff-driven rock band hailing from Melbourne, Australia, known for their high-octane energy and authentic, rock drenched sound. The band's current lineup features vocalist Tenaye, guitarist Spruce, drummer Sam, and members Hannah and Piddo.Musically, HZED is defined by raw, "in-your-face" rock anthems. Their songwriting process often begins with a riff or track idea from Spruce, which is then passed to Tenaye to develop lyrics and a  vibe. This collaborative approach has resulted in standout tracks like No Colour and the hard-hitting single Heartbreaker.Following the release of Rising Up Above in March, HZED today release their new single Say Whatcha Want. Produced by Rusty Brown (of the legendary Electric Mary), the track is a masterclass in short and punchy rock and roll. To turn the heat up even further, HZED recruited Aussie rock icon Dave Leslie (Baby Animals) to lend his signature searing guitar work to the track, creating a high-octane collaboration that demands to be heard at maximum volume.HEAVY caught up with Spruce ahead of the release to find out more."This one's a bit heavier and faster than what we've done before," he began, "and a bit more in your face. It's a bit more punk rock as well. We had Dave Leslie jump on board and do some guitar work on there for us as well, and Rusty (Electric Mary) produced it as usual so it's pumping."In the full interview we discussed musical and production details for the new song. Spruce described the single as heavier, faster, and more punk-influenced, noting guest guitarist Dave Leslie's contribution, and credited producer Rusty Brown for mentoring and improving their songs since 2021. He confirmed two immediate single-launch shows on May 2 in Collingwood and May 8 in Frankston, with ticket links available via their socials and Linktree. Spruce also outlined plans for an EP and two additional releases around October and the end of the year, plus more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Phenobarbital loading in the adult palliative cohort for refractory symptom management has been used for many years. However, there is little evidence, nor a guideline for palliative sedation for children at home.   What does this paper add? An initial loading dose of phenobarbital may provide enhanced and quicker relief of refractory symptoms in the paediatric palliative care cohort receiving home-based terminal care.   Implications for practice, theory, or policy? Further research is required to determine the efficacy of, and guidelines for administration of, a loading dose of phenobarbital for paediatric palliative care patients in the terminal phase, presenting with intractable symptoms.   Full paper available from:     https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/02692163251365440   If you would like to record a podcast about your published (or accepted) Palliative Medicine paper, please contact Dr Amara Nwosu:  a.nwosu@lancaster.ac.uk

In Season 7, Episode 6 of the Expat Mortgages Podcast, Managing Director - Mortgages, Jeremy Harper is joined by James Anderson, Founder and Director of Bluestone Property to unpack Melbourne's latest market movements. Frankston has been the clear standout, delivering 15–17% annual growth as buyers recognised its relative value within the south-eastern corridor. Improved sentiment, strong investor demand and increased activity from first-home buyers — particularly ahead of changes to the First Home Guarantee scheme — helped drive momentum, with properties that were once in the low-$700,000s now firmly in the $800,000 range. The episode also explores how the recent 25-basis-point rate rise from the Reserve Bank of Australia may temper borrowing capacity and cool some of the FOMO seen late last year. While higher rates may shift demand slightly lower in price point, both Jeremy and James agree the outlook isn't doom and gloom. For expats planning a return to Australia, Melbourne's south-east still offers long-term fundamentals, particularly in more affordable pockets just inland from recent high-growth suburbs. In this episode of The Smart Property Investment Show, host Liam Garman sits down with Steve Ash, founder of Property Strats, to explore Melbourne's property market and uncover key opportunities and challenges for investors. The duo begins the episode by highlighting a surge in activity, driven by first home buyers and government initiatives, such as the 5 per cent deposit scheme without lender's mortgage insurance, which has intensified competition in many suburbs. Despite the market upswing, Steve warns of a scarcity of good deals, making it harder for investors to maintain a boutique approach. He also emphasises balancing financial growth with lifestyle, encouraging investors to enjoy the benefits of their portfolios. Certain suburbs, such as Frankston and Melton, are experiencing strong growth, while units remain undervalued, offering attractive yields and capital growth potential. Steve emphasises the importance of strategic portfolio planning, combining Melbourne properties for growth with higher-yield assets elsewhere to maintain a stable cash flow. He also highlights challenges such as land tax and strict tenancy standards, which require careful due diligence. The First Home Guarantee scheme, launching on 1 October 2025, will enable buyers to enter the market with a 5 per cent deposit and no lender's mortgage insurance, and with an increased price cap across different markets. The co-hosts caution that while the scheme makes entering the property market easier, buyers face 95 per cent mortgages amid rising prices, heightened competition, and potential negative equity. Additionally, capital cities have been recovering more strongly after interest rate cuts, while regions that have grown rapidly in recent years may stabilise. Victoria is expected to lead national price growth, with areas like Frankston, Greater Geelong, and Yarra attracting renewed interest from buyers and investors. With opportunities and risks intensifying, the co-hosts urge investors to ensure careful planning, financial literacy, and professional guidance to navigate the evolving market. Melbourne on the move: How to buy smart in a tricky market

In this episode of The Smart Property Investment Show, host Phil Tarrant is joined by Steve Ash, founder of Property Strats, to unpack where the Melbourne market is heading – and how savvy investors can capitalise. While Melbourne's growth has slowed compared to other capitals, Steve sees opportunity where others see stagnation. With median prices still trailing behind Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, he says now's the time for value-focused investors to strike, before momentum returns. But it's not without risk. Steve and Phil dive into what makes Melbourne a challenging environment for landlords, from high land taxes to strict tenancy rules, and explain how the right structure and property type can help investors avoid costly missteps. The episode also explores the rise of buyer's agents, particularly those with finance backgrounds, and how strategic portfolio construction is starting to mirror the discipline of traditional fund management. For those eyeing Melbourne, Steve points to suburbs like Frankston and Carrum Downs, calling out their land content, tenant compliance and future development upside. Above all, it's a call for patience, preparation and smart buying. As Melbourne gears up to overtake Sydney as Australia's biggest city by 2050, the long-term case is strong, but only for investors ready to play the long game. With Casefile on a short break, we thought this would be a great time to shine a light on some of the shows that may have flown under the radar for many of you. These are shows we've put our hearts into and are really proud of.Today, we're showcasing The Frankston Murders. When Vikki Petraitis and I found out that Paul Denyer, the man convicted of the Frankston serial murders, had applied for parole, we strongly felt that the Frankston case deserved a more in-depth series, something that went beyond the headlines to explore the full impact of Denyer's crimes. The series details the lead-up to the crimes as well as the aftermath, the families, the survivors and the many women who were targeted in the lead-up to the murders, but whose stories hadn't yet been told. The series went to number one and has been downloaded more than three million times to date.I hope you enjoy the series. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In 1993, fear took hold of Frankston Australia after three women were murdered within just seven weeks. The community was left reeling as police searched for answers, unaware the killer was a 21-year-old local man hiding in plain sight. Paul Denyer didn't just target his victims, he stalked them, studied them, and later told police he'd wanted to kill since he was 14.
