Considering a successful career as a controversial radio show who will never have to face consequences for their actions? The Apocalypse AND one of your listeners might have something to say about that, so before you start shopping for mics, you better listen to our review of J.D Brynn & Abe Goldfarb's "First-Time Caller"Weird, Together is hosted by Brennan Storr (The Ghost."Story Guys Podcast, Transmissions From the Void, Book of the Dead) and Joseph Comeau (The Sociology Professor, The Cardinal Rule, AZ Sports Underground). This episode was edited by Tonya Downing. Our theme song is "Rest in Peace", from the album "Music From Big Beige" by The Revenants, licensed via Night Harvest Recordings.
This week I'm pleased to be joined by Abe Goldfarb, who is currently playing Otho for the touring company of Beetlejuice: The Musical and both starred in and co-directed First Time Caller (which I reviewed here). You may remember a few months back that Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert got kicked out of a showing of Beetlejuice: The Musical; well, Abe happened to be onstage when all that went down. After having a few laughs about that, we get into the world of indie filmmaking and his recently released project, First Time Caller. Turns out that one of the best ways to make money on a project like this is to make it and release it on an ad-supported streaming channel, yet more evidence that we've torn down the whole system just to reinvent cable. If you enjoyed this episode, make sure to check out First Time Caller and Beetlejuice: The Musical, on tour now. And make sure to share this with a friend!
This week Lynn & Carl speak about three excellent theatre productions. First, Gary F. Bell from Stray Dog's Saturday Night Fever, Liza Birkenmeier, author of St Louis Actors' Studio's Dr. Ride's American Beach House, and Abe Goldfarb, playing Otho in the Fabulous Fox's production of Beetlejuice. Plus Carl saw The Exorcist: Believer (so you don't have to see it).
Abe Goldfarb (Beetlejuice: The Musical, First Time Caller) and the lads down a shot of the Green Fairy and can-can their way through Baz Luhrmann's 2001 musical extravaganza: Moulin Rouge! Topics include the brilliance of Richard Roxburgh, the sexiest alien in Star Wars, and the untouchable style and frenetic earnestness of Bazmark Luhrmann. Abe Goldfarb is known to burlesque circles as a talented host, Bastard Keith, regularly seen at New York City's Slipper Room and festivals all over town; however, he is also an accomplished voice over actor (Pokemon! The Jungle Book! Strangeland!), film director (The Horror at Gallery Kay), and stage performer (Broadway's Beetlejuice, Off-Broadway's Bunnicula and Threepenny Opera!) He's got so much going on, somehow he found an hour and a half to talk about all this and more with Viktor Devonne, who got over his stagecrush just long enough to hear about his exploits! - this episode was recorded on August 22, 2021 | call hook: @sirgogogadget Instagram: @abrahamgoldfarb Twitter: @abegoldfarb IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2026827/ https://www.thehorroratgallerykay.com/ The Earth Moves: https://www.gideon-media.com/the-earth-moves - Hosted by Viktor Devonne, reigning Mr Hollywood Burlesque, and celebrating 15 years in burlesque. Richard II is God’s anointed representative on Earth, but by the end of the play that bears his name, he’s dead and his cousin sits on his throne. This is the story of how Shakespeare used English history to ask still-relevant questions about legitimacy, and about how a performance of Richard II played a role in the last aristocratic rebellion against the English crown. In this second episode of Lend Me Your Ears, host Isaac Butler talks to University of Richmond professor Kristin Bezio, Vanderbilt professor Peter Lake, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Julie Felise Dubner about what made Richard II an intriguing figure, what defines legitimacy, and what audiences can learn from the play today. The actors in this episode were Abe Goldfarb as the Duke of York and Earl of Northumberland, Daryl Lathon as Henry Bollingbroke, David Rosenberg as Richard II, and Sid Solomon as John of Gaunt.
