Pleasure Doesn’t Care About Wrinkles  (Season 6 | Episode 243) with Joan Price Welcome to another episode of the Open Nesters podcast, where Amir and I trade our empty nest for an open one filled with vibrant health, relationships, and endless possibilities. This week, I had the absolute honor of sitting down with Joan Price, an 82-year-old senior sex expert and an incredible advocate for aging and sexuality. Joan brings such a refreshing, realistic, and wildly open perspective to what she calls “Act Three”—the stage of life where we are getting older but are absolutely still entitled to rich, fulfilling intimacy. Pleasure Doesn’t Care About Wrinkles with Joan Price In my fifties, I still felt incredibly sensual and sexual, but as I entered my sixties, I started experiencing unexpected setbacks, including breaking my neck in a car crash. Joan completely validated these physical realities, reminding us that as we age, our bodies simply change. From the aches and joint pains that make certain physical positions impossible, to the very real physiological shifts that cause arousal to take longer and lubrication to decrease, these hurdles are completely normal. 3:01 Bodies Change, Desire Adapts 6:12 Injury, Healing, and Intimacy 10:00 Embracing New Pleasure 15:44 Rethinking Orgasm 18:11 Ageless Erotica Unveiled 22:16 Body Image and Worth 27:48 Sex After Grief 32:54 Courage with Age But normal doesn’t mean the end of pleasure; it just requires a profound shift in our attitude and expectations. Joan emphasizes that we must let go of the judgment, the blaming, and the unrealistic goal of trying to recreate the exact kind of sex we had in our twenties. Instead, this chapter of life is about opening our minds to a completely new, expansive world of receiving and experiencing pleasure. A major part of this new chapter involves communication, which can be daunting if you’ve never had to explicitly ask for what you need before. Joan pointed out that if intercourse is no longer pleasurable or even possible, we must be brave enough to tell our partners exactly what our aging bodies require now. Our brains need to consciously connect with our bodies, asking them to show us what they need, and then we must boldly share those discoveries with our lovers. One of the most liberating ways to explore these changing needs is through solo sex. Joan is a massive proponent of self-pleasure, explaining that taking the time to explore your own body alone allows you to intimately understand how your arousal patterns have shifted over the years. Giving yourself permission to experiment with solo touch is not only perfectly healthy, but it’s often the foundational step to communicating your evolving desires to a partner. When it comes to discovering new sensations, Joan is also a vocal advocate for integrating high-quality sex toys into your routine. She advised us to ditch the old, poorly made novelties of the past and invest in well-designed, body-safe toys, like a specifically chosen vibrator. Whether used alone or with a partner, these tools can quite literally be the difference between having an orgasm and not having one. Speaking with Joan was a profound reminder that pleasure truly does not have an expiration date. I highly encourage all of our listeners, whether you are single or partnered, to check out her website and dive into her groundbreaking books, including the wonderful anthology Ageless Erotica. We don’t have to quietly close the door on our sexuality as we age; instead, we can step boldly into this new act, open our minds, and write an entirely new, beautiful chapter of intimacy. Ultimately, we need to completely redefine what a successful sexual encounter looks like. Joan challenges the deeply ingrained societal idea that sex must always lead to intercourse or a specific, standardized type of climax. Instead, we should embrace exploring arousal slowly, enjoying lower-pressure intimacy, and relishing the long, sensual buildup without demanding a specific finish line. Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”Evil rarely announces itself. More often it blends in, turns the temperature up one degree at a time, and convinces good people that numbness to sin is normal. Jack is with Claymore leader Dan McSweeney to talk plainly about the spiritual battle playing out in modern life and why so many young men feel drained, isolated, and stuck, even when everything looks “fine” on the surface. If you're watching marriages crumble, seeing addiction, especially to p*rnogra$hy (not a typo) become common, or feeling your own heart go passive, this conversation puts words to what's happening and why it matters. We also tackle a hard objection head-on: is the Church just a pile of rules? We walk through why the Ten Commandments are designed to set you free, not box you in. Freedom isn't “anything goes.” Freedom is the ability to love without fear, build trust, protect your family, and live with integrity when the culture pushes the opposite. Jack shares how the Catechism begins with desire and authentic love, reframing Catholic faith as a love story rather than a scolding, and why that changes the way a man fights the battle between love and lust. Then we get practical. Claymore's simple spiritual formation plan is built for real life: ten minutes of morning prayer before the phone, and a short nightly reading rhythm that can reshape your heart in 52 days. We talk about brotherhood, accountability, and why you should never try to do this alone, especially when spiritual resistance shows up after you start changing.Subscribe for more conversations on Catholic men's formation and the spiritual battle, share this with a friend who needs a reset, and leave a review to help more men find the Claymore Battle Plan. Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”Evil doesn't usually kick down the door. It slips in while we're busy, distracted, and telling ourselves we'll think about the big questions later. We talk about why so many men don't choose evil outright, but still end up cooperating with it through drift, silence, and “just doing my job.”We use the idea of the banality of evil to name what's happening, drawing on Hannah Arendt's reporting on Adolf Eichmann and the unnerving truth that massive harm can be carried out by ordinary, morally numb people. From there we widen the lens to the mystery of evil as spiritual warfare, not just politics or psychology, and we ask what it means to live in a culture that normalizes sin, denies objective truth, and fractures the family through addictions, abortion, and confusion about identity and love. Then we get practical: knees before screens, The Claymore 10-minute morning ritual that includes praying through temptation, followed by a simple 5-minute evening plan through the Claymore Battle Plan Handbook designed to form men fast over 52 days. Find everything here! thecreativemastermind.com/ danielcubillo.tv@gmail.com ABOUT DANIEL Creating innovative, engaging audiovisual content for people, organizations, and causes telling stories that matter. I'm a showrunner, writer, and creative executive with over 30 years of experience, also working on independent creative projects and offering consulting services to the next generation of content creators. MEET DANIEL I have dedicated my life to content creation of all sorts. You name it: music video clips, wedding videos, live Real Madrid soccer games, awards galas, Real Housewives' episodes, interactive gameshows, influencer YouTube videos, historical TV movies, and beyond. I've spent decades identifying, developing, adapting, and producing audiovisual content, both for major players in the industry and for my own boutique production company. I've been lucky enough to learn from television legends, coworkers, mentors, bosses, peers, and teachers. Thanks to their generosity, wisdom, and expertise, I've accomplished incredible things, like creating and running a multimillion-euro primetime scripted drama and adapting and running from Los Angeles what became the most viewed show in Facebook Watch history at the time. Now, I'm excited to pass on that expertise to the next generation of content creators. I offer full-service consulting, mentorship, and production services to content creators, gamers, influencers, and other public figures who need hands-on support and guidance to get their unique story out there. I'm also constantly creating work of my own. I'm currently looking for the right partners to package my original content. Explore my project catalog here – for more information, contact me! MY CAREER: A LOVE STORY As a storyteller first and foremost, I think of my career as a full-blown epic saga, a four-act drama, a love story with all the highs and lows that come with it. Act One had me swooning hard. There's nothing quite like young love, and I first fell in love with content creation in my early teens, when my father taught me how to shoot and edit video during summer vacation. When that love was combined with my love of skiing and traveling, the chemistry was electric. It yielded a pilot for a travel show that didn't just fly, it soared, landing five seasons on Nat Geo and Grupo Planeta. I went from a solo act cutting clips in my living room to a full-blown production force. Act Two, I committed. Jumping from cable's charm to broadcast glitz, I found myself in the big leagues, with millions of eyes on the prize each night. Top Chef, Fear Factor, The Voice, Big Brother… I was showrunning with the best and learning about the game's cutthroat complexity. This was when I committed my life and soul to the art of storytelling. Act Three started out as my honeymoon phase. I ran the show… then ran the showrunners. From inception to air, I juggled development departments and the high-stakes sales market. The exec life chose me, and I embraced it. But as much as I learned, as much as I soared, I also felt distanced from my true love. I saw firsthand how the essence of storytelling often gets sidelined by the top brass. And that sting? It felt a lot like heartbreak. Act Four is where I find myself now: the rekindling. I'm back to my roots, to the content that beats true to my heart, not just what the market dictates. And every new voice I mentor reignites my passion and makes me feel committed and passioned again. Jointly, we're rewriting the script, elevating narratives, and crafting content that doesn't just fit the bill, it sets the bar. Embracing the “Open” in Open Nesting (Season 6 | Episode 222) with Joy Rose (Season 6 | Episode 222) This week on the Open Nesters podcast, my co-host Amir and I had the absolute pleasure of revisiting a truly boundary-breaking conversation with the incredible Joy Rose. As an artist, activist, and the visionary founder of the Museum of Motherhood, Joy is a master at helping us deconstruct the heavy labels we carry and reclaim the narrative of our own lives. If you are currently navigating your own “Act Three,” this discussion is essential listening for finding your vitality and flipping the script on aging. We dove deep into the complex world of motherhood —to explore how this role often consumes our identity for decades. Joy shares the raw, honest truth about the “redundancy” many of us feel when our children grow older. It can be an almost impossible shift to move from the physical and emotional all-consumption of active parenting to a life where that role is no longer necessary in the same way. Joy's personal journey is a masterclass in finding the “self” at the center of the roles projected onto us. As her own four children have grown into their late twenties and thirties, she has had to learn the difficult art of adjustment, using tools like cultivating her own passions and finding serenity through spiritual programs like Al-Anon. One of the most striking parts of our talk was Joy's take on modern relationships and her rejection of traditional marriage. She spoke beautifully about seeking “great love”—the kind of love that pushes you out of your comfort zone and requires you to show up with integrity and consciousness. It was so illuminating to hear how she and her partner, despite being on opposite ends of the political spectrum, find deep connection through simple kindness and shared values. For those of you looking to explore these themes further, Joy is continuing her work by launching online classes through the Museum of Motherhood website. She encourages everyone, especially “women of a certain age,” to be brave, be expansive, and stop repeating patterns that no longer serve them. Whether it’s through art, study, or simply trying to live on your own, there are so many ways to “show up” for yourself in this new stage of life. We are so grateful to Joy for her wisdom and for helping us “unlabel” the judgments we often place on ourselves and others. As we move forward, I hope you'll join us in witnessing the growth of our families and ourselves with open hearts and fewer expectations. About Martha JOY Rose Martha JOY Rose, Founder, Executive Director, BFA, MALS with a Master's in Mother Studies. She is an award-winning artist and activist. Guitar blasting out of an engine that should not exist in a town this small. The DeLorean pulls in for real. Dizzy lifts his head. Kev goes silent. P feels the world shift. Miss World steps out with a sunflower in her hair and for a moment everything feels possible. She takes them on the ride they have been imagining all week. Kev laughs in the back. Dizzy shouts for more speed. P sits in the front seat trying to hold himself together. Miss World asks what they want from the future. Dizzy talks about cars. Kev talks about family. P cannot answer. Miss World waits. P finally admits he is afraid to look ahead. Kev jokes that P might not make it to adulthood. Miss World hears something deeper than the joke. She sees him. When they return, nothing is magically fixed. But something inside P cracks open. He cannot keep disappearing into other people's expectations. Not after being seen this clearly, even for a moment. Act Three is the ride, the break, and the first honest step toward who P is becoming.SMALL BLOCK is a feature screenplay by Ashley Lauren, performed live and mixed like a feature film for your ears. Keeper Review

Synopsis After nearly a year of dating, lovebirds Liz and Malcom drive to Malcom's family cabin for a little getaway. Liz immediately begins to pick up on some strange vibes, both from the cabin and Malcom. Something is definitely off, but at least there is chocolate cake. As Liz learns more about Malcom, she is bombarded by visions of dead women, creepy ghouls, and severed heads. All of this in the name of love, maybe it would have been better to stay single after all. Review of Keeper Keeper's trailer keeps things pretty ambiguous, and so I had very little knowledge of this film before going in. All I could gather was that this movie was about a woman on a trip with her boyfriend, who is kind of creepy. And honestly, that's what we get from this movie for the entirety of Act 1 and Act 2. Liz is just mildly bothered by her boyfriend acting strangely, but other than that, there isn't much to say about it. The director Osgood Perkins is currently making a name for himself with movies like The Blackcoat's Daughter and Longlegs, but Keeper seems to be something else. While there are mixed reviews for Longlegs (some loving it and others finding it weird and cheesy), what we can all agree on is that Longlegs had some very interesting concepts that make the movie worth checking out. Unfortunately for Keeper, there really just isn't anything all that interesting about it. It's a cabin in the woods story, with a domineering, creepy man, and a seemingly helpless yet feisty female protagonist. It almost doesn't get more cliche than that. I will say that Act Three opens the movie up a little bit more, and the creepy visuals and monster designs were quite scary-looking. But that doesn't make up for the movie being kind of bland most of the time. Even when it ends up doing something kind of good, the story is still borderline nonsensical. Score 3/10
