Pastors in expensive cities often cannot afford stable housing on ministry salaries. That financial pressure quietly threatens their ability to serve. If you want to see your faith show up in practical, tangible ways at work and with your money, this episode gives you a real example of what that looks like. Key Discussion Points Nicole explains how the Aslan Housing Foundation builds down payment assistance programs for pastors, using church investors, donor-advised funds, and self-directed IRAs to fund stable housing without competing with the church's general giving. She describes a core operating value: do nothing about staff without staff. Surveys go out to both church leadership and pastoral staff before any housing strategy is built, so the people with the actual need have a voice in the solution. Nicole unpacks what she calls a triple bottom line for investors: market-rate financial returns, a stabilized ministry, and a more secure pastor and family. She talks about how she brings her faith into secular professional settings without forcing it, including sending a simple email to a real estate team in Hawaii during flooding to let them know she was praying for their safety. She and host Addison Williams discuss how Christians in any profession hold two marketplace roles: what they do with their time at work and what they do with their money outside of it. About the Guest Nicole Marie Bergeron is the founder and CEO of Aslan Housing Foundation, a California-based nonprofit that helps churches develop housing strategies for their pastoral staff. She holds a joint degree in law and public policy and spent two decades in philanthropy and social impact work before launching Aslan in 2018. Her background gives her a systems-level view of a problem most church leaders have never named out loud. In episode 268 the crew recap their Juneteenth vibe and discuss how the holiday is still growing, including the importance of taking the day off and pushing workplaces to recognize it. They also reflect on Father's Day, why dads often feel underappreciated, and how gratitude and thoughtfulness change as kids get older. The group then dives into a spoiler-heavy conversation about the movie “Obsession,” praising its originality, low-budget success, marketing, and standout moments while debating plot gaps and character choices. To close, they get into a Pride Month-related discussion sparked by reality TV, talking about boundaries, friendships, perception, and how different dynamics can feel in group vs. one-on-one settings.00:00 Cold Open and Roll Call01:08 Juneteenth Holiday Energy02:09 Making Juneteenth Official04:10 Building New Traditions05:39 Commodified Holidays Talk07:11 Father's Day Appreciation08:49 Why Dads Feel Overlooked12:06 Teaching Gratitude and Gifts16:34 Movie Talk Obsession Begins17:04 Why It Works on a Budget18:56 Thriller Vibes and Pacing20:39 Spoilers and Wish Breakdown22:04 Friend Betrayal Clues23:47 Jealousy Or Warning Signs24:44 Lottery Scene Debate25:41 Sequel Talk And Franchises26:41 Toy Story Overload31:25 Obsession Sequel Ideas31:55 Indie Budget And Casting34:44 Ratings And Plot Holes40:11 Wish Wording And Themes43:28 Marketing Rollout Genius44:24 Why We Watched It46:51 Movie Lives Up Hype47:16 Pride Month Question47:24 Bad Boys Sparks Debate48:27 Can Straight Men Be Friends49:14 Work Friends Gone Awkward51:47 Compliments And Boundaries56:26 Dating With Gay Friends01:03:26 Image And Group Dynamics01:07:13 Gym Client Story01:09:23 Wrap Up And Shoutouts
"When we are busy, we are numbed out to this sense of inadequacy that we all know is real. Deep, deep, deep down." ~ Kenna MilleaWhat does it actually look like to be addicted to the hustle and not even realize it?How does staying perpetually busy become a coping strategy for the deeper questions we are afraid to sit with? What if the solution to your busyness is not better time management, but a ruthless commitment to doing less?In episode 103 of This Whole Life, Pat and Kenna Millea get honest about their own addiction to hustle. Drawing on John Mark Comer's The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, they explore why so many of us, including two licensed therapists who know better, cannot seem to slow down, and what our busyness is really covering up.They dig into the spiritual roots of hurry, why John Mark Comer calls it the greatest threat to the interior life, and how the Catholic social tradition has been telling us for over a century that work was made for man, not the other way around. Kenna shares a moment from her own therapy that reframed everything: the possibility that her anxiety has been masking depression all along, and that staying busy is the most productive-looking way to avoid sitting with the hard questions of the human experience. Pat gets equally honest about the cost of hurry in his own fatherhood, admitting that far too often he is yelling at his kids not because of what they are doing, but because he is in a hurry and their seven-year-old slowness is incompatible with his schedule. They close with four practical S's from Comer's book: silence and solitude, Sabbath, simplicity, and slowing. The challenge is to pick just one and try it for a week. This episode is for anyone who has answered "how are you doing?" with "so busy" and quietly wondered why that answer feels both true and empty at the same time.Chapters: (00:00) - Cold Open (00:37) - Welcome and Episode Intro (01:47) - Lightning Round: 90 Seconds with Kenna (09:39) - Highs and Hards (16:07) - Why We Might Be the Worst People to Host This Episode (17:46) - The Spiritual Roots of Busyness (21:41) - The Mental and Emotional Cost of Hurry (34:12) - Busyness as a Coping Strategy (42:47) - The Louis C.K. Pace Risk, Sack Fix: Vikings Front Office Shakeup, Sack Problem, and Supplemental Draft Buzz — On Two Old Bloggers, Dave and Darren discuss Vikings GM Nolan Teasley's continued front-office overhaul, including adding former Seahawks pro scout Azzam Kapadia as assistant director of pro scouting and hiring ex-Bears GM Ryan Pace as a football advisor. They debate Pace's mixed Chicago track record and the value of multiple former GMs as sounding boards. They then examine the Vikings' sack problem under Kevin O'Connell (203 sacks from 2022–2025, fifth-most in the NFL; 60 in 2025), citing scheme, pass/run tendencies, QB-attributed sacks, and 2025 offensive line instability (26 different combinations; only 83 snaps with the preferred starting five). They also note possible 2026 improvements via a better run game, coaching changes (Frank Smith and Keith Carter), healthier linemen, and the mobility of Kyler Murray. In “This Week in Vikingsland,” they weigh whether the Vikings should bid in the supplemental draft for QB Brendan Sorsby despite his gambling issues, and discuss the need for veteran edge rusher depth, including rumors of Za'Darius Smith potentially unretiring. 00:00 Cold Open and Teasers 01:20 Welcome and Banter 02:42 Teasley Rebuilds Front Office 05:12 Ryan Pace Hire Debate 08:41 Too Many Voices Question 13:07 Pace Draft Record Breakdown 18:28 Theme Two Sacks Problem 19:54 Why Sacks Keep Happening 21:51 Analytics Data on QB Blame 26:15 2025 Chaos and Fixes 29:18 Run Game Fixes 30:42 Health And Line Cohesion 31:32 Mobile QB Reduces Sacks 33:54 Line Rankings And Depth 36:36 Time To Throw Stats 37:28 Sorsby Supplemental Buzz 40:46 Prospect Traits And Red Flags 44:44 How Supplemental Bidding Works 46:45 Vikings Should Pass 49:14 Edge Rusher Depth Need 51:41 ZaDarius Smith Reunion 54:45 Teasley First Big Move 58:17 Wrap Up And Sign Off Fan With Us! In episode 80, JK describes starting a 30-day no-complaining challenge after noticing how easy it is to “cosign” others' complaints, and he's traveling to Omaha for a 14U baseball tournament and a College World Series game, while Kelly is traveling to Chicago, increasing running volume, lifting twice, and monitoring a heel issue that's improving. They then talk about “health maxing,” reacting to a resurfaced Diary of a CEO clip where Steven Bartlett said three glasses of wine led to worse sleep, eating, gym performance, and podcasting for days, debating wearables, optimization culture, and checking in with yourself before device metrics.00:00 Cold Open and Intro00:33 Today's Topics Preview01:26 Kelly's Chicago Update05:06 JK's No Complaining Challenge13:50 Omaha Travel Baseball Plans16:10 Courtesy Plates Gym Etiquette21:25 Health Maxing and Viral Clip25:03 Critiques of Optimization Culture28:34 Recovery Time Skepticism30:10 Bad Optimization Example34:13 Sobriety vs Fun Debate39:18 Wellness Surveillance Culture42:46 Wearables Help or Harm44:49 Metrics Anxiety in Training49:55 HRV and Zone Two Hype52:09 Actionable Takeaways55:30 Wrap Up and PlugFollow the podcast at @liftingrunninglivingpodEmail us at liftingrunninglivingpod@gmail.comFollow JK at @coachjkmcleodFollow Kelly at @runningklutz

The Teasley Regime Begins: Process Talk, Eric Wilson's Encore, and OTA Standouts — Dave Stefano and Darren Campbell discuss new Vikings GM Nolan Teasley's first media availability, noting his brief, “process”-heavy answers, praise of Rob Brzezinski, and Mark Wilf's statement that Teasley has final 53-man roster authority while consulting Kevin O'Connell and Brian Flores; Teasley also emphasized building in the trenches. They debate whether linebacker Eric Wilson, re-signed on a three-year, $22.5M deal, can repeat his 2025 career year (career highs in sacks, forced fumbles, TFLs, QB hits, heavy snap load), citing age/consistency concerns but confidence in Flores' usage. OTA notes include undrafted WR Dillon Bell drawing attention for explosiveness and versatility, and DL Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins getting edge reps. NFC North items include Micah Parsons missing early season (helping Minnesota vs Green Bay) and Myles Garrett being traded to the Rams instead of the Bears. 00:00 Cold Open and Setup 01:13 Live Chat Roll Call 02:01 Teasley Regime Begins 02:27 First Presser Impressions 08:00 Power Structure and Final Say 09:53 Build in the Trenches 16:18 KOC and GM Timeline Talk 21:15 Theme Two Eric Wilson Again 22:42 Wilson's 2025 Breakout 26:48 Can He Repeat in 2026 30:30 Flores Factor and Other Risers 34:02 Flores Backs Eric Wilson 35:37 Diggs Drop-Off Talk 36:56 OTA Buzz Dylan Bell 40:36 Ingram-Dawkins Edge Experiment 46:16 Curling Chat Break 47:28 NFC North News Impact 47:54 Parsons Injury Packers Outlook 51:04 Garrett Trade Bears Miss Out 53:41 Hunter vs Greenard Revisited 57:41 Dallas Turner Year Three 59:12 Minicamp and Show Updates 01:00:53 McCarthy Trade Rumor Debate 01:04:00 Wrap Up and SKOL Fan With Us! Peter Schiff puts this in perspective: JD Rockefeller, the previous richest American ever adjusted for inflation, earned the equivalent of $2 billion per year in actual income from Standard Oil. Musk has essentially zero income — SpaceX loses money and trades at 100x revenue — making his trillion-dollar net worth entirely a function of bubble valuations driven by decades of monetary excess.Meanwhile, the May federal deficit exploded 32% year-over-year to $293 billion, with interest expense surging 44% to $133 billion in a single month — $1.6 trillion annualized, consuming 30% of all tax revenue. That's the entire federal budget from 1997 spent on interest alone. CPI rose 0.5% in May, putting 2026 on pace for 6.2% annual inflation — the highest since 2022 and potentially headed for 1981 levels. PPI came in at 1.1% for the second straight month, annualizing to 14%. Gold successfully retested its March low at $4,040 before recovering to $4,218, with mining stocks posting a positive divergence despite metal weakness. Boomers Love War, Windmills Are Spy Towers, and FISA Tears (Libservative Crash-Out Hour) Dan Griffin and Corey Walsh riff through a chaotic Libservative episode covering Trump repeatedly claiming the Iran war is “over” while Axios reports a deal Iran denies, plus Lindsey Graham winning his primary and why older voters dominate primaries. They discuss populist primary wins, doubts about whether new left candidates are genuine or controlled opposition like they claim Bernie and AOC became, and mention Thomas Massie facing major money. They mock Doug Burgum calling offshore wind turbines a national security threat and link it to AI data center fears. They celebrate a House vote that killed a three-week FISA extension and lampoon Speaker Mike Johnson's warning that expiring FISA endangers World Cup and “America 250” events, explaining Section 702's warrantless surveillance loophole. They also criticize race-driven rage bait around the Carmelo Anthony/Austin Metcalf stabbing case, touch on Barry Weiss's CNN influence claims, and end with a “Gratuitous Mark Levin Rant” about Iran. 00:00 Cold Open and Introductions 01:55 Tonight's Topics Rundown 03:04 Primaries and Populist Surge 08:59 Bernie AOC Controlled Op Debate 14:12 Why Lindsey Graham Won 16:35 Boomer Media and Iran Hawk Clip 18:51 Age Limits Voting and Taxpayer Rights 23:04 Carmelo Anthony Case and Race Bait 38:55 Justice System Principles Murdaugh Aside 42:18 Oval Office Sycophants 43:57 Energy Grid Reality Check 48:05 Wind Turbines Security Claim 50:34 Data Centers Distraction Theory 55:38 Iran Deal Doom Loop 01:01:16 FISA Extension Fails 01:07:23 Section 702 Explained 01:12:10 CNN Barry Weiss Shakeup 01:15:59 Mark Levin Rant Breakdown 01:22:40 Wrap Up Social Security Tease

Milena Simsic made $300,000 in commissions in her first year as a realtor, without any prior real estate connections, using nothing but TikTok and Instagram. She had no social media presence before she got her license. She figured it out in public. Milena is the founder of WindSocial Realty in Windsor, Ontario, and the publisher of the Windsor Real Estate Insider, a newsletter and magazine that grew to 9,000 subscribers in under a year. She also runs Windsor REI Social, a 3,000-member community that fills events with 100 to 200 investors. She is currently switching brokerages from EXP to Real and building a community for realtors who want to learn AI-powered marketing. In this conversation, we cover: Why Windsor's single-family homes have held value while student rentals and investment properties have softened What the Gordy Howe Bridge delay and the EV plant mean for Windsor's growth trajectory How Milena made $300K her first year as a realtor off TikTok and Instagram alone Why she replaced her virtual assistant with Claude AI and built her CRM systems in an afternoon How the top agents implementing AI are going to absorb market share from those who are not Why she left EXP for Real, and what Real is getting right that most online brokerages are not The health crisis that doubled her business once she fixed it Why business owners are particularly vulnerable to loneliness and what she did about it How Windsor REI Social went from monthly to biannual events and why that made it bigger Milena's arc is the arc TAFI was rebranded to celebrate: a factory worker and ICU nurse who saw where the highest-leverage play was, went all in, and built a media brand and a business that works without grinding 60 hours a week. Can a $25 Napa red really deliver a premium wine experience? This week on Stop Wasting Your Wine, we're heading from Ghost Block to its sister label, Elizabeth Rose, to find out. In the glass is the 2023 Chockablock Red Blend, a Napa Valley blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec that surprised us from the very first sip. What started as a savory, herbal, and unexpectedly salty wine transformed dramatically as it opened up, revealing layers of dark fruit, oak spice, vanilla, and structure. Along the way, we explore why winemakers blend grapes in the first place, how small percentages of Merlot and Malbec can completely change a wine's personality, and why some of the world's greatest wines are blends rather than single varietal bottlings. In this episode, we discuss:• Why this wine tastes so different from a typical Napa Cabernet• The role of blending in creating balance and complexity• How decanting completely changed our experience with this bottle• Whether a $20 to $25 Napa blend can compete with wines costing far more• Why this might be a bottle worth buying by the case and aging for yearsPlus, a Pick Your Poison scenario that puts your wine pronunciation skills and your relationship with your boss to the ultimate test.Wine Featured:2023 Elizabeth Rose Chockablock Red Blend75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 10% MalbecNapa Valley, CaliforniaSupport the show and help keep the wine flowing!Buy us a glass!https://buymeacoffee.com/cheers3Connect with the show. Michael Walrath, Chairman and CEO of Yext, returns to break down why the market has left a profitable, $400 million mid-cap public software company trading at one times revenue, even with over $100 million in EBITDA. He joins AJ Bruno and Asad Zaman to argue that the so-called SaaS apocalypse has almost no data behind it, that most AI layoffs are really a decade of go-to-market overhiring unwinding, and that boring compounders still out-return the hypergrowth darlings. Topics include how venture capital distorts software valuations, why no one is coming to help the 2021 unicorns stuck in broken cap tables, the great GTM despecialization, and the extend-and-pretend game inside venture funds. Plus, a Quiz Pro Quo on new business creation in the US and a Bulls and Bears debate on the future of mid-cap software and the stickiness of the AI platform. Read Michael's essay, No One's Coming to Help You: https://x.com/michaelpwalrath/status/2051364181237010778 Key Takeaways: - The market has left profitable mid-cap software for dead in favor of AI-native growth stories, and Michael Walrath, Chairman and CEO at Yext, leaned into how strange that is for a business that still prints cash. As he put it, "who's writing our obituary? It's the venture capitalists who are funding high-growth ARR companies," even as those same firms can't say what that ARR really means. - The loudest voices setting software valuations are venture investors, and Michael argued their certainty is out of step with their actual hit rate. He called them "remarkably sure of themselves for guys whose whole business model is being right 5 to 10% of the time," noting that being right much more often than that would mean a VC is playing it too safe. - Michael's answer to the hypergrowth-or-die mindset is that durable value comes from compounding cash flow, not chasing the next high-growth story. Pointing to a century of market history and operators like Berkshire Hathaway and Liberty Media, he said, "if you compound effectively, you will out-return these super high growth stories, unless those super high growth stories eventually become compounders." - A lot of the layoffs being blamed on AI may be a decade of go-to-market overhiring finally unwinding. Michael framed the skeptic's question directly: "is it really AI? Or is this a choice that you're making because you overhired for 10 years." Asad Zaman, CEO at Sales Talent Agency, agreed, pointing out that even inside the most AI-native companies he visits, the fundamental way the business runs has not really changed. In the sketch, Adam Driver appears as Jeffrey Epstein in Hell, sharing space with other controversial public figures—one being Alan Dershowitz (played by Jon Lovitz). The setup is absurd and dark: Dershowitz is preparing his impeachment defense when he ends up transported to Hell, where he is greeted by Epstein, who greets everything with an unnerving nonchalance, saying he's “just hanging” in Hell, a grim reference to Epstein's death by suicide in prison. The sketch mingles satire with shock, using the ludicrous setting to comment on how scandal, power, denial, and guilt function in public lifeThe cold open also includes other figures in Hell—Mitch McConnell, Flo from Progressive, the “Baby Shark” songwriter, etc.—turning the scene into a weirdly populated waiting room of immoral celebrity and public scandal. There are jokes about conspiracy theories around Epstein's death, with Epstein quipping “I wish you could have been there in person” after Dershowitz complains about missing something, and Epstein responding “Yeah, it's too bad I was murdered.” The tone is uncomfortable comedy: it forces laughter but also forces audience to think about the real grotesque elements of the Epstein scandal—death, power, impunity. To contact me:Bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2020/01/26/snl-cold-open-alan-dershowitz-reunites-with-just-hanging-jeffrey-epstein-in-hell/amp/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.
In episode 665 of the New Media Show, hosted by 2017 Podcast Hall of Famer Rob Greenlee, Rob talks with Ashley Christenson, also known as Ashni, for a deep conversation about one of the most important questions facing podcasting, streaming, creator media, startups, and traditional media right now: What does “New Media” actually mean today? The term “New Media” has been around since the late 1990s, but its meaning is shifting again. What once described digital media outside traditional broadcast and print is now being used by creators, VCs, startups, streaming strategists, AI companies, and professional communities to refer to something more specific: creator-led media that builds trust, influence, industry position, and direct audience relationships. Ashley brings a unique perspective from 13 years in online media, Twitch streaming, YouTube education, startup marketing, community building, and creator strategy. She explains that she sees the creator economy as building an audience as the asset, whereas the emerging version of New Media is more about building status and position within an industry conversation. In her view, the key difference is not simply between consumer and professional audiences, but about what the media operation is designed to build and protect. Rob brings the longer history of podcasting and digital media into the discussion, asking whether podcasting was one of the first major expressions of New Media and whether it now sits within a much larger creator-led ecosystem. The conversation explores how podcasting, YouTube, streaming video, newsletters, live shows, X, AI-generated content, and Apple Podcasts' move toward HLS video streaming are all blurring the old lines between podcasting, creator media, and professional media. A major theme in this episode is whether podcasting is still its own category or has become a powerful format within the broader New Media industry. Rob argues that the word “podcast” is increasingly defined by audiences and platforms, while creators may need to think more broadly as show builders, media operators, and participants in the creator economy. Ashley and Rob also explore how X is becoming a real-time professional media layer, why founders, investors, executives, and AI builders are returning to the platform, and why companies are experimenting with live streaming, clipping, launch videos, short-form content, and creator-style formats to reach professional audiences. The episode also moves into AI-generated media, human-hosted content, AI clones, disclosure, and trust. Rob argues that human-created and AI-created content may both need clear labeling, while Ashley points out that long-form podcasts may remain more defensible because listeners often build real relationships with hosts over time. This conversation lands on a bigger media reality: New Media is no longer just a technology term. It is becoming a business category, a creator category, a trust category, and a professional influence category. Podcasting helped build the foundation, but the next version of New Media is broader, more video-driven, more AI-assisted, more platform-diverse, and more dependent on trust than ever before. Key Topics: What “New Media” means in 2026 Creator economy vs. New Media Audience as an asset vs. status as an asset Why podcasting helped define early New Media Whether podcasters should now think more like creators and show builders Apple Podcasts HLS video and the return of video podcasting YouTube, Spotify, X, and the platform shift around shows Why VCs and startups are using the term New Media X is a professional media and live content platform Traditional media is trying to become more internet-native AI-generated podcasts, AI clones, and synthetic media Human-hosted content, disclosure, and audience trust Why long-form podcasts may remain defensible in the AI era Chapter Markers: 00:00 Cold Open and Welcome 00:32 What Does New Media Mean 02:08 Podcasting Meets Multi Format 03:14 Meet Rob Greenlee 04:01 Introducing Ashley Christensen 04:53 Ashley’s Creator Economy Journey 08:26 AI Definitions of New Media 12:35 Creator Economy vs New Media 16:29 The Kill Switch Test 21:38 Is VC Rebranding New Media 24:10 Niche Status Media Examples 31:55 Traditional Media Goes Internet Native 34:59 Podcasting Identity and Convergence 41:35 Creator as a Catch-All Term 43:56 Naming New Media 46:11 Podcast Term Debate 51:02 X Shapes Media 55:35 X Video Creator Push 01:00:51 Twitter Podcast Roots 01:04:38 AI Flooding Podcasts 01:07:48 Human Trust Labels 01:11:34 Clones and Disclosure 01:17:49 Trust Factor Wrap 01:18:19 Closing and Where to Follow Guest and Host Links Guest: Ashley Christenson / Ashni Streaming strategist, creator economy, and new media operator X: https://x.com/ashnichrist YouTube: https://youtube.com/@ashnichrist Hype Partners: https://x.com/hypepartners Host: Rob Greenlee New Media Show: https://newmediashow.com Rob Greenlee: https://robgreenlee.com Podcast Hall of Fame: https://podcasthall.com Rob Greenlee on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robgreenlee Rob Greenlee Booking: https://calendly.com/robgreenlee About the Host/Author: Rob Greenlee is a 2017 Podcast Hall of Fame inductee and Chair, a global new-media leader who bridges podcasting's human roots and its AI-driven future. The mailbag delivers. Listener emails this week include a baseball honeymoon, a Jeopardy-funded wedding (not a typo), and a fan who shipped over APBA game materials and a stack of 1972 Topps cards. That last one matters by the end of the episode. In BP, Jeff and Mark work through the week's oddities: batters watching their own strikeout replays in real time, the phrase "circuit clout" making a comeback, Elmo showing up in the Phillies booth alongside John Kruk, Jazz Chisholm wearing Giancarlo Stanton's pants to break a slump, and a genuinely strange roster trivia note involving the Marlins, Cardinals, and Twins. The main segment is 1988. Specifically, what happens when a pitcher gets so locked in that the league starts to feel likeit's 1968 all over again. Orel Hershiser threw 59 consecutive scoreless innings that year — breaking Don Drysdale's record — and won the Cy Young while doing it. Jeff puts it in context against Bob Gibson's 1968, the last time people seriously asked whether pitchers had broken the sport. The episode closes with Wax Pack Heroes, using the 1972 Topps cards the listener sent in. 00:00 Cold Open and Welcome 00:18 On Location and Mariners Talk 01:31 Mailbag Honeymoon Baseball Stories 04:15 APBA Surprise and Wax Packs 07:19 BP Big Screens and Circuit Clouts 09:11 Elmo in the Broadcast Booth 10:52 Jazz Chisholm Wears Stantons Pants 13:22 Weird MLB Three Team Trivia 15:01 NCIS New Orleans Baseball Cameos 16:54 Year of the Pitcher Part Deux 44:35 Wax PackHeroes 01:07:10 Thanks Plugs Signoff Connect With Us YouTube: www.youtube.com/@twostrikenoise Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/twostrikenoise BlueSky: @twostrikenoise.bsky.social Email: twostrikenoise@gmail.com Support a Great Cause: Don't let your common cards collect dust! Icon Wars: Has the Church Been Bowing to Idols? How Rome and the East Smuggle Idolatry into Worship Through Sentiment and Bad Arguments “Stop kissing idols.” When God thundered from Sinai, He did not mumble. He did not leave room for clever loopholes. He said: “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image… thou shalt not bow down thyself to them.” Yet for centuries, Rome and the East have tried to explain away what God made plain. In this episode of The Patriarchy Podcast, Pastor Joseph Spurgeon and Zach Krugler step into the Icon Wars. Are icons, statues, relics, and painted images harmless aids to worship… or baptized idolatry dressed up in tradition? The guys break down the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic arguments for icon veneration, including appeals to the incarnation, church history, temple imagery, and “honor passing through the image.” They examine why modern Protestants, exhausted by shallow evangelicalism, are being lured toward ancient aesthetics and mystical sentimentality. They also ask the practical questions many Christians wrestle with: Is every image of Jesus sinful? What about children’s Bibles and movies like The Chosen or The Passion of the Christ? What do we do with relics like the Shroud of Turin? Does church history actually support icon veneration? Can Christians distinguish between honor and worship? This is not a debate about art alone. It is a battle over worship, authority, and whether God gets to decide how He is approached. Faithful men do not improve God’s worship. They obey it. Jyoti Chand grew up the youngest child and only girl in a Punjabi immigrant family in West Covina, California, in the middle of a 95% Mexican neighborhood, in a gang-infiltrated area, in a household where her dad ironed her clothes, did the laundry, cooked the food, and showed up to every parent-teacher conference while her mom worked nights. She was spoiled with love. She was the class clown with a binder of printed jokes. She was the smart one, the good girl, the straight-A kid who also snuck out to Bong Fest, talked back to everyone, and graduated high school at 16. She was also someone who had no idea that alcohol was quietly shaping her entire story. In this episode of Sense of Self, Dr. Gowri Aragam sits down with Jyoti Chand, known to hundreds of thousands as Mama Jotes, a mom, a content creator, founder of Jyotes by Jyoti Chand, author of the graphic novel Fitting Indian, and one of the most genuinely funny and disarmingly honest voices on the internet. What starts as a warm, hilarious conversation about growing up first-generation in LA becomes something much more honest. A story about dual identity, undiagnosed ADHD, inherited anxiety and depression, a suicide attempt at 18 that her university tried to quietly erase, abusive relationships she didn't think she deserved better than, and the slow realization that the substance she thought was just fun was actually the main character in a story she desperately wanted to rewrite. And then she stopped drinking. And everything changed. 00:00 Cold Open and Retakes 00:54 Mom Life Small Talk 01:49 Name Origin and Fireworks 04:14 Growing Up West Covina 07:18 Assimilating and Blending In 11:57 Home Life and Superdad 16:17 Sibling Chaos and Teen Rebellion 22:10 Comedy as Survival 28:09 High School Anxiety and Coping 33:00 Family Mental Health Patterns 35:37 Modeling Coping Skills 36:20 Breaking Generational Cycles 37:27 Growing Up Too Fast 38:24 College Freedom Party Life 43:17 When Drinking Feeds Anxiety 45:00 Alcohol and Parenting Boundaries 47:18 Good Girl Bad Girl Split 52:51 Breakup Depression Spiral 56:40 Hospital Hold and Dorm Fallout 59:35 Therapy Break the Cycle 01:07:30 Writing as Healing Path 01:11:39 Self Worth and Relationships 01:12:41 Choosing Love Through Discomfort 01:15:01 Brunch Meltdown and the Ring 01:18:13 Reparative Love and Co Regulation 01:23:31 Alcohol After Marriage and Motherhood 01:27:20 Moderation Fails and Pandemic Spiral 01:28:23 Dry January and Quit Like a Woman 01:35:19 Sobriety Fuels Creativity and Growth 01:43:02 Self Esteem and Resilience Muscle 01:48:06 Who I Am Now and Closing About Our Guest: Jyoti Chand, known online as Mama Jotes, is a content creator, author, and advocate for first-generation Americans navigating identity, mental health, and sobriety. Her graphic novel Fitting Indian follows a 16-year-old first-generation American girl navigating mental health struggles, dual identity, and the pressure to belong everywhere and nowhere at once. She lives in the Midwest with her husband, a child psychiatrist who is not allowed to "psychiatrize" her, and their three kids. To contact me:Bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2020/01/26/snl-cold-open-alan-dershowitz-reunites-with-just-hanging-jeffrey-epstein-in-hell/amp/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.
Join us as Brian Hough (CEO & Founder of Tech Stack Playbook, AWS Hero) gets brutally honest about the state of tech hiring and what skills developers actually need to survive - and thrive - in the AI era. Brian walks through his frontline perspective on why tech layoffs aren't about skills - they're about market economics - and what that means for engineers trying to stay relevant. You'll learn which roles are actually hot right now (ML engineer, AI engineer, cloud architect, full stack dev), why companies want utility players who can build end to end, how to use social media and building in public to get quietly hired, and why the engineers who thrive will be those who can go from vision to deployed system. Brian also covers practical strategies for positioning yourself before the next wave hits, including using roadmaps as a personal curriculum and leveraging AI as a career accelerator rather than a threat. She's not an artist. She's a timeline. Country Taylor. Pop Taylor. Indie Taylor. Villain Taylor. Billionaire Taylor. Every Swiftie is loyal to a different version — and that's exactly what makes this the hardest question in music right now. Cash The Record is back. Vol. 4. And we're going after Taylor Swift. One catalog. One pick. No mercy. "All Too Well" has ten minutes of pure devastation. "Shake It Off" is diamond-certified and inescapable. "Love Story" built an empire. "Cruel Summer" went #1 — four years after it dropped. And "Blank Space"? That's a different conversation entirely. We're not picking your favorite. We're picking the ONE song that defines who she IS — the song that represents the pivot, the shift, the moment Taylor Swift stopped being a subject and became an author. Clint, Meg and Dan kick off Tuesday with banter about holidays and tech-challenged parents, including a caller whose mum brought an Apple Watch with the screen hanging off. They play More or Less on extreme city temperatures, share scandal about AI writing and a young actress leaving the HBO Harry Potter series after season one, and discuss a reported leak of Pornhub Premium user data. The team fails to reach a Take the Edge Off My Life winner, then swap stories about broken items “hanging by a thread” and the habit of filling online carts without buying. They try cracking the Neutrogena vault code, talk early job quitters, read Dan’s teen diary, interview viral bridesmaid Georgie Bell about her dress ripping during a worm, and debate A-lister list rankings for Brendan Fraser, Dave Grohl and Snoop Dogg. 00:00 Cold Open and Welcome 02:00 Zoo Animal Naming Update 03:51 Wiggles Tickets and Mum Math 06:53 Boomers vs Tech Callers 10:01 More or Less Weather Quiz 16:28 Naughty 640 20:27 Love on the Spectrum Talent 24:01 Take the Edge Off Calls 27:52 Hanging On By a Thread Hacks 35:38 Play Shopping Confessions 36:24 Abandoned Cart Confessions 37:59 Caller Cart Addiction 39:52 Discount Code Hack 40:38 Neutrogena Vault Challenge 42:51 Ginny Weasley Quits 46:53 Early Quitter Stories 52:03 Dan's Diary Readout 56:00 Viral Wedding Worm 01:06:09 A Lister Rankings
Uncomfortable Questions: Vikings GM Search Worries, 2026 Schedule Traps, and Adrian Peterson Ring of Honor Debate — Hosts Dave and Darren discuss the Vikings' ongoing GM search, noting interview requests for assistant GMs Ray Agnew (Lions), Reed Burckhardt (Broncos), and Kyle Smith (Dolphins), and raising concerns—citing ESPN's Kevin Seifert—that the Wilfs want a candidate who fits the current front-office structure, potentially limiting authority and contributing to candidates like Chad Alexander declining interviews. They break down the 2026 schedule, highlighting key early divisional games vs. the Packers and at the Bears, a difficult post-bye stretch starting Oct. 25 (Colts, at Lions, Bills, at Packers, Mexico City vs. 49ers), and potential surprises like the Saints. They also review the Vikings' highly rated schedule-release video featuring Will Reichard and Chris Jericho, cover Jauan Jennings' one-year deal after turning down a larger 49ers offer, and debate Adrian Peterson's Ring of Honor induction amid elite on-field production and significant off-field controversies. 00:00 Cold Open and Topics 01:21 Show Intro and Welcome 02:24 Great White North Banter 04:49 GM Search Updates 06:41 Ray Agnew Breakdown 09:36 Power Structure Concerns 13:31 Why Candidates Ghost 18:56 What Authority Means 24:29 Schedule Release Hype 27:07 Fast Start Divisional Games 29:11 Packers Matchup Edge 32:40 Midseason Gauntlet Ahead 36:53 Mexico City Altitude Game 37:59 Mexico City Game Impact 39:43 Saints as Sneaky Threat 42:02 Vikings Record Predictions 44:14 Theme Three Vikings Land 45:09 Schedule Video Breakdown 53:10 Jennings Signing Reaction 56:30 Adrian Peterson Ring Debate 01:08:03 Show Wrap and Farewell Fan With Us! The sequel brings Johnny Cage into the fold, raises the stakes with the actual tournament, and delivers some genuinely great fights and character moments. But does it stick the landing? Warsh won't say Trump lost in 2020, won't name one policy he disagrees with, and can't explain what 1% rates would do. This is our next Fed Chair. This episode is sponsored by InvestingPRO. Grab your free seat to the 2-Day AI Mastermind: https://link.outskill.com/PETERSCHIFFAP4Donald Trump's Fed Chair nominee Kevin Warsh spent two hours dodging every meaningful question in his Senate confirmation hearing, and Peter Schiff watched the whole thing so you didn't have to. Warsh refused to say whether Trump lost the 2020 election, wouldn't name a single Trump policy he disagreed with, and couldn't answer the obvious question of what 1% interest rates would do to consumer prices — even though he'd already admitted inflation comes from government spending and money printing. Before breaking down the hearing, Schiff delivers a history of the Federal Reserve that most economics PhDs have never learned: why the Fed was created as a private bank to issue superior banknotes backed by 40% gold, how the original act prohibited the Fed from owning treasuries, and how World War I opened the door to everything wrong with monetary policy today. He also takes aim at MicroStrategy's Strategy preferred stock as a textbook Ponzi scheme — Saylor can only pay the 11.5% yield by selling new shares, and the fine print lets him stop paying whenever he wants.Chapters:00:00 Cold Open and Intro00:57 Warsh Nomination Stakes02:34 InvestingPro Sponsor Demo07:32 Why Fed History Matters08:08 Before the Fed Era11:12 Fed Independence and Constitution14:00 Superior Banknotes Explained17:40 Outskill Sponsor Break21:47 Elastic Money Supply Myth25:49 War Finance and Treasuries32:16 Hearing Reactions Begin33:05 Trump Spending And Inflation34:02 Warren Attacks And Rate Cuts35:17 Warsh Denies Being Puppet36:34 Fed Praise And Wealth38:16 Price Stability Redefined41:15 Dodging Trump Questions43:45 One Percent Rates And QE46:06 Inflation Tax And Deficits47:00 Fed Chair And The Dollar49:54 No CBDC Crypto Pandering50:46 MicroStrategy Ponzi Rant54:20 Lawyer Evasions And Politics57:34 Warsh Verdict And Gold Pitch01:02:11 Final Wrap And SignoffFollow @peterschiffX: https://twitter.com/peterschiffInstagram: https://instagram.com/peterschiffTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@peterschiffofficialFacebook: https://facebook.com/peterschiffFree Reports & Market Updates: https://www.europac.comBook Store: https://schiffradio.com/booksSign up for Peter's most valuable insights at https://schiffsovereign.comSchiff Gold News: https://www.schiffgold.com/news#PeterSchiffShow #FedChair #KevinWarshOur Sponsors:* Check out Fast Growing Trees and use my code GOLD for a great deal: https://www.fast-growing-trees.com* Check out GhostBed: https://ghostbed.com/PETER* Check out Grammarly: https://grammarly.com* Check out Quince: https://quince.com/GOLD* Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code GOLD20 for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.comPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
