Sho, Genge!Welcome back to ASIAS, with your girl, Sis G.UPreparing for the promise is something that we all have to do. If we are fully transparent with ourselves and each other, this is a concept and practice that is hard to do. In a world where mistakes are a guarantee and experiences either grow or break us - the first thing we always hope for is instant solutions. When we pray to God, we expect instant answers and blessings as well. But, what do we do and how do we move when our requests are delayed or denied for a better plan that God has for us? How do we remind ourselves to be firm in the faith and move with confidence? The confidence that God has and will never forsake us?Join me as I open up about preparing for the promise. The promise that God will change our lives for the better. Beyond our wildest dreams. This episode is dear to me, as it speaks to a season in my life where a lot of learning and adapting had to be done. I hope there are gems for you to take, as you continue building your spirituality and relationship with the Lord!Everything will be yours, in due time. God will make it happen.

Sho, Genge! Welcome back to another episode of ASIAS, with your girl, Sis G.U. Journey with me, as I open up about PCOS and the experiences I've gone through, since being diagnosed with this syndrome. This is an episode that needed a deeper level of vulnerability to share, but I trust that the words that I have to share will impact someone, within the Genge and beyond, to not fear this syndrome but to embrace it & follow the procedures needed, in order to live your best life with it. Let this episode also be a reminder that we aren't defined by what we have but who we are within and the people we aspire to be. Let this be a reminder that God will always be there for you, no matter what situations are in front of you. Nothing is ever too big for God to solve for you!
The Blue Jays make another addition, signing pitcher Max Scherzer in free agency to a one-year, $15.5 million deal, pending a physical. Sho Alli takes your calls and texts, and asks what letter grade the Jays now deserve following a relatively busy offseason - how high can that grade get without a second bat, or without a big extension for Vladimir Guerrero Jr.? Sportsnet's Nick Ashbourne (12:18) stops by to discuss the Scherzer signing - what's the threshold for success with the 40-year-old future Hall of Famer, and what does this do for Yariel Rodríguez in a potential move to the bullpen? Afterwards, Sho chats with MLB.com's Kennedi Landry (29:44), who covered Scherzer during his Rangers tenure - what kind of teammate is he, and how can it rub off on others? Plus, Sho gets into the latest news in the Pete Alonso sweepstakes - will he head north of the border to Toronto, or will he head back to Citi Field in Queens? The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
Sho Alli and Mark Boffo wrap up this week on The FAN Checkdown sorting through the coaching changes in Jacksonville. After Tampa Bay's Liam Coen move across Florida earlier in the week, the pair discuss why the Buccaneers have since blocked the Jaguars from interviewing with any more of their staff. James Palmer of Underdog Fantasy and Bleacher Report joins the conversation to share which head coaching hire intrigues him the most, the most appealing opening still available, and what's next for Doug Pederson. James and Sho also get into who has the pass-catching edge heading into Super Bowl LIX, how the Chiefs have integrated their new receivers into the offence, and Travis Kelce's standing among the best tight ends of all-time. Later, Joe Osbourne of Covers.com drops in for some betting insight ahead of next week's title matchup. That feeling is what sums up the vibe and feel of today's episode. I am joined by my dear friend, Nathi Fani. Fasting is a concept often spoken about within the forms of spirituality. In the same nature, it is still a practice that is hard to master/apply in one's life. We always think about the most basic definition of fasting - but in this episode, Nathi & I really dig in deep into this incredible and life changing experience of fasting & prayer through the experiences and lessons that we're going through/went through. I invite each and everyone of the Genge to lend an ear to this episode. Whether you're familiar with fasting or not, I definitely guarantee that there are beautiful gems to take from this episode, to help you grow your connection and relationship with the Lord!

Sho, Genge! Welcome back to another episode of ASIAS, with your girl, Sis G.U First and foremost, compliments of the new year to the Genge. May God bless your year in ways that you cannot imagine. May everything you invest your time into, bring forth results of success and prosperity. In this episode, I am joined by my sound engineer & music producer, VINO. The idea, or theory of 'Closing the Door' can mean a plethora of things, depending on where your life is and what you want to change. For me, it really is centered around embracing this new chapter of life that I've stepped into. I reflect, very candidly about my experiences in 2024 and the lessons I've learned. What makes this episode really special, is that there was no preconceived idea of how the conversation will go. It was a much needed conversation in which there are gems shared from myself and VINO, which I am sure that the Genge can incorporate into 2025. Allow yourself to step into the new year with a free spirit, letting go of the baggage of the previous year. In order to receive new blessings, you need to first make space. Get rid of what's hindering you. Be honest with yourself on what you want to change and pray to God, to anoint your journey. This year is all about being the best you that you can be!

Happy 2025 & Welcome to the New Year! The fellas are back to bring the new year, new episode with just the two of them. Instead of embracing 2025 and things most people want to get better at, the guys chose to run through any topic without regard for anything. The usual laughs were had through Sam while Sho followed up with the usual where leading with bravado leads to them trying to decide how to navigate without overly offending anyone. Take a listen, tell a friend to tell a friend. Remember to check out ItsLit Podcast dropping every Monday!
Join hosts Krissy Lenz and Nathan Blackwell with special guest Alice Baker as they roundhouse kick their way through Barry Gordy's 1985 martial arts musical mashup The Last Dragon. This cult classic blends kung fu action, Motown music, and 80s pop culture into a unique cinematic experience that defies traditional genre boundaries. The hosts dive deep into the film's peculiar plot, following Leroy Green's quest to achieve "the glow" while navigating between two outrageous villains: the flamboyant Sho'nuff (played brilliantly by Julius Carry) and the unhinged video game mogul Eddie Arcadian. The discussion highlights how the movie, despite being a critical failure, became a beloved cultural touchstone, particularly in the Black community, spawning memorable catchphrases and iconic scenes. The episode reveals fascinating behind-the-scenes details, including how the film nearly missed securing Bruce Lee footage rights and lost 40 pages of script in a fortunate accident that actually helped streamline the final cut. The hosts also explore the impressive Motown soundtrack, featuring collaborations with legendary musicians, though they agree some of the songs haven't aged as gracefully as others.Key Topics Covered:Early career appearances by William H. Macy and Chazz PalminteriThe impressive roster of actors who almost played Leroy, including Denzel Washington and Lawrence FishburneVanity's decision to choose this film over Purple RainThe cultural mixing of various martial arts styles and traditionsThe film's innovative blend of music video aesthetics with martial arts actionNotable fight choreography by Robert van CleefYoung Ernie Reyes Jr.'s scene-stealing performanceThe movie's influence on future films, including possible Matrix connectionsVarying audience reactions and the film's revival screening appealWhether you're a longtime fan or discovering this unique piece of 80s cinema for the first time, this episode offers an entertaining deep dive into a film that perfectly encapsulates the decade's excess, style, and charm. The hosts rate it between 6-7 out of 10, agreeing that while the plot may meander, the entertainment value, particularly when watched with friends, makes it a worthwhile viewing experience. --We couldn't do this without your support of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast! Grief, then gratitude. The longer I live and the more pain I encounter, I'm further convinced that this is the healthy cycle of suffering: grief then gratitude. Mourn the life you thought you'd have, then give thanks for the one right in front of you. Because if we're honest, most of us have some deep-down assumptions about what our lives should look like. For me, that assumption didn't include a massive stroke or disabilities. And for my friend Sho Baraka, his perfect life plan didn't involve raising sons with autism. Sho is living out his good/hard story in that grief-and-gratitude rhythm, and he shared all about how he got to that place. Today, Sho is receiving his family—and his life—as an “abstract masterpiece of what the Master did.” Whew, how good is that? If you join us in this conversation, here's what you'll take away: Encouragement for when we don't get the miracles we hope for How to see suffering as an opportunity rather than a punishment A new way to respond to uninvited prayers for healing Insight for grieving the loss of the lives we thought we'd have Advice for married people raising kids with disabilities If you need to release your demands for a perfect life and open your hands to the gifts of the life you actually have, this episode is for you.
