This past week or so has been a sad time for the Videogame Industry, especially for the fine folk over at Joystiq, who have not only had to deal with AOL closing down their operation, but also the loss of ex-staffer Andrew Yoon, who died tragically in a lake accident on the 30th January. Andrew was a regular contributor on the late great Weekend Confirmed Podcast and if it weren't for that show (and indeed, the Joystiq Podcast) then there's no way this show would exist. The end of an Era it most certainly is."The show must go on" though, as they say - and so we have a whole bunch of news for you this week, including an MMO update regarding The Elder Scrolls Online's new pay model and the ressurection of APB for current-gen consoles. We also discuss how the German ratings board are treating VR games seperately to those played on more traditional screens and let loose some info on a bunch of new games announced since we last recorded, including Ubisoft's Grow Home and some actual proper indie titles like 35mm, Virginia & White Night. All this and more on another news-packed #NOTplaying Podcast!RIP Andrew Yoon http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/2u6bo6/andrew_yoon_formerly_of_joystiq_and_shacknews_has/Joystiq is definitely closing :( http://www.joystiq.com/2015/01/27/joystiq-closing-shop/Sony sells SOE http://techcrunch.com/2015/02/02/sony-sells-sony-online-entertainment/?ncid=rss#D4gaVd:oETElder Scrolls Online going FTP March 17, Consoles get it June 9 http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-01-21-elder-scrolls-online-gets-console-release-date-drops-subscriptionAPB ressurected for PS4/Xbone: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-01-22-free-to-play-apb-reloaded-announced-for-playstation-4-xbox-oneNew Nvidia 960 series GPU: http://www.polygon.com/2015/1/22/7868903/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960-launch-date-moba-league-of-legendsDifferent ratings for the same games on Screens vs HMD http://vrfocus.com/archives/11121/german-ratings-board-rates-project-morpheus-title-higher-hmd-screen/Journey Across an Apocalyptic Russia in “35MM” http://www.onlysp.com/35mm-steam-greenlight-camapaign/Ubisoft are releasing a PC game next month called 'Grow Home' http://www.polygon.com/2015/1/22/7875501/grow-home-ubisoft-steamShape of the World (Official Teaser): http://youtu.be/gsqPkvMpum0Virginia http://variablestate.com/virginia/White Night http://youtu.be/7JoT5KFD7AkIdentity is really close to making it's kickstarter goal https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/asylum/identity?ref=48hrRob @bobirokaPatrick @patrickjkayIain @ebowgbContact us on Email at: notplayingpodcast@gmail.comFollow us on Twitter: @notplayingpodYou can find the show notes for this show at www.notlistening.co.ukIf you're listening on iTunes, please give us a review! To Check out other shows in the Collection visit:http://barkerpodcasts.webs.com Including the #NOTwatching Podcast: http://www.spreaker.com/show/the-notwatching-podcast

Weekend Confirmed is celebrating a milestone today with its 200th episode! Join hosts Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata, along with the Shacknews duo of Andrew Yoon and Ozzie Mejia, as they journey forward by looking into the problems that are plaguing Nintendo and what they can do to keep their boat above water. The topic then turns into the best-selling games of the year and what they mean for games and innovation moving forward. Then Garnett talks about Don't Starve and whether certain games would benefit more from assisting players more at the beginning. Then it's time to celebrate by looking back at the very first episode of Weekend Confirmed and where the world of games has gone since that day back in 2010. Look back upon 200 episodes with some of your favorite clips and rejoice in new Finishing Moves and the post-show Tailgate.
The 190th episode of Weekend Confirmed comes to you in full 1080p! With co-host Jeff Cannata away for the week, host Garnett Lee invites the Shacknews tandem of Andrew Yoon and Ozzie Mejia, along with Christian Spicer, to discuss the imminent arrival of Xbox One. But first, discussion turns to Call of Duty: Ghosts, talking about the series' growing sense of stagnation and whether it's necessarily a problem that can be solved or even one worth solving at all. After that, Andrew catches up on all things Xbox One, including games like Zoo Tycoon, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, and Dead Rising 3, while also making a convincing case for why the packed-in Kinect peripheral matters. The show wraps up with Christian's impressions of the other major Batman game to release, the handheld Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, before everyone goes into Finishing Moves and the post-show Tailgate.
For this edition of Weekend Confirmed, we have two crews for you! We start the show with the Weekend Confirmed X crew of hosts Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata and the Shacknews duo of Andrew Yoon and Ozzie Mejia reacting to the Watch Dogs delay and how that affects the decision to jump on to next-gen on launch day. That's followed by some early discussion of Pokemon X and Y before jumping into discussion of Telltale's The Wolf Among Us. After the first hour, we switch to Weekend Confirmed Y, with Insomniac's James Stevenson jumping in for a discussion on some of the latest board games before Jeff and Andrew debate their respective views on Beyond: Two Souls. The show wraps up with a new round of Finishing Moves before Andrew and Ozzie switch chairs once more for the post-show Tailgate.
