*Insert train whistle here* Did the Spooktacular Express sneak up on you? Because it snuck up on us! We blinked in January and suddenly it became Spooky Season. Even though we got caught on our heels, we're still confident that we can pull together the best Halloween party the internet has ever seen. To make it happen, we're calling in some friends from Nintendo to buff up the party vibes. That left us with the question: Which Nintendo property would host the best Halloween party? Matt is excited to tell you about a movie he's never seen. Todd is excited to tell you about a weird, little freak. Kyle is excited to tell you about a Freudian Slip. This week, we delve into the latest details around the upcoming Mario Galaxy bundle, including new features and graphics. Before we get to that, though, we're excited to be attending PAX Aus next month, especially now that Nintendo has been confirmed to attend. We'll be able to get hands-on time with the likes of Hyrule Warriors and Metroid Prime 4, so get ready to hear all about it on an upcoming episode! We also talk about some new demos ready to try, a new game announcement we're excited about, and the interesting games we're playing this week, from Star Wars Outlaws to The Nameless.
On this episode of The GAP Luke Lawrie and Joab Gilroy are joined by Andreas “Kleb” Klebo-Espe to talk about some of the larger maps in Battlefield 6. The games they've been playing this week include Borderlands 4, Battlefield 6, Cronos: The New Dawn, Katanaut, Magic: The Gathering, and more. They also talk about the Dota 2 International and some of the games they watched. Over in the news Randy Pitchford claims very few PC players have reported “valid” performance issues in Borderlands 4. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is officially set to release December 4, 2025. Hades II launches September 25 and Valve's rumoured standalone VR headset “Steam Frame” may be announced soon. This episode goes for 2 hours and 35 minutes, it also contains coarse language. Welcome to Season 7 of Chapter Select! Respond to the distress beacon with Scan Visor aficionado Max Roberts and Morph Ball enthusiast Logan Moore as they explore the Metroid Prime series. Along the way, they'll lose some power-ups, chart derelict civilizations, and mod the heck out of Samus as they—along with Nintendo—push the Metroid franchise into the unknown reaches of space and game design. It has been a very long time coming—both for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and this season of Chapter Select. We have been hard at work on this season since its announcement two years ago and now, just like Retro Studios, are prepared to share its impending release plan with you all. You can read a copy of this episode's transcript here. Our signature bounce back-and-forth structure has given us a delightful order this time around. Besides the hilarity of Federation Force (what I have been affectionately calling Feddie Force) being our second episode, I like the console and handheld flip-flopping. Here is the release schedule for Season 7: - Episode 1 – Metroid Prime Remastered (2025) is releasing on October 1, 2025. - Episode 2 – Metroid Prime: Federation Force (2016) is releasing on October 15, 2025. - Episode 3 – Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (2004) is releasing October 29, 2025. - Episode 4 – Metroid Prime Hunters (2006) is releasing November 12, 2025. - Episode 5 – Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (2007) is releasing on November 26, 2025. - Episode 6 – Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (2025) will release after we both beat the game. This season has been a journey to record with the ups and downs of life woven throughout its production. We recorded our first episode on October 14, 2023—just shy of two years to the day of its release. I've been editing the episodes over the last two months and it has been a strange treat to relive the games and show. I think that is a testament to both the show and this franchise of games we chose to play. You may notice that there are no guests this season. The season's production cycle and our *long* play sessions didn't make it very conducive to have guests on the show. Even if we were dialed in, we had a difficult time getting guests for the Metroid Prime season. Our Castlevania season was/is a different story and I hope to reconfirm the guests we pitched ages ago. I do think a season of this size (just six episodes) makes our journey through the *Prime* series more intimate with just the two of us The art has been a two year struggle for me and I have landed on a similar idea to Season 5 – Resident Evil. Each episode will showcase a planet and a stylized logo to help indicate the episode's subject. It's taken me ages to land on this design. I am...relieved this season is coming out. There were times over the last two years that I thought it'd be better to can the entire show. Along the way, we lost some power-ups, armor, and had to explore new territories. I am glad we persevered, explored, and finished what we set out to do. This season is great. Make sure to subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts. I hope you enjoy.
We are on the other side of a big Nintendo Direct. Listen to hear our thoughts on a pretty good but bizarre Nintendo Direct. Who could have predicted the Virtual Boy making a comeback? We talk about Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, The Super Mario Galaxy movie and much more. You know it wouldn't take long for Jon to get back on his soapbox. This time it is about the Hollow Knight: Silksong discourse. Finally, we settle yet another pop bet on the show. Thanks for listening! It's Mario's 40th birthday and what better way to celebrate than with a bunch of farming sims and Dynasty Warriors spin-offs! We're wrapping up everything featured in the big Nintendo Direct from last week including the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie announcement, Metroid Prime 4 release date, and the Virtual Boy resurrection! We've also got more thoughts on Hollow Knight Silksong after spending more time with it and impressions on the shadowdropped Donkey Kong Bananza DLC. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This Week: We’ve got all the news out of the latest Nintendo Direct (yes, another one!) including the reveal of the new Super Mario movie, the cozy new Pokémon spin-off that’s basically Pokémon meets Animal Crossing, and the latest update on Metroid Prime 4. Plus, a lawsuit has been filed against a studio accused of using AI to recreate Lara Croft’s voice. I’m joined this week by Ron Kerbs, CEO of Kidas, who shares new stats on the surge of online threats facing young gamers and how his company is working to curb them.
This week on The Gaming Duo, we're breaking down everything from the latest Nintendo Direct—from the Super Mario Galaxy movie announcement to new games like Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Mario Tennis Fever, and the long-awaited release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.Kelvin also shares his hands-on impressions of the Killswitch case for Switch 2, while Rob can't stop diving deeper into Hollow Knight: Silksong. Plus, we chat about big news like Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy heading to Switch 2 and Xbox, Pokémon's next steps, and even some fresh DLC surprises.Whether you're hyped about Mario, Metroid, or just want the inside scoop on what's next for Nintendo, this episode's packed with all the reactions and insights you need.
Nintendo surprised with an announcement of a 60-minute Nintendo Direct that happened on Friday, and boy did they have some things to announce, including the title of the next Mario Movie being Super Mario Galaxy, a new Fire Emblem game, the release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and a heck of a lot more. Sean and Marc discuss their favorite things from the Big Direct. Was it Fire? Or was it a bit of a smokescreen? Also, Nintendo was awarded a patent in the United States for summoning a monster to battle for you and there's concern this could lead to more patenting of concepts in gaming, but will this be something Nintendo actually uses against other game developers to prevent their games from releasing? Plus, Sean played the demo of Digimon Story: Time Stranger and beat Mafia: The Old Country, Marc is stuck on farming sims, Wolverine could release in 2026, a new report from Newzoo suggests that there's an optimal time to release from early access, and more on this edition of Video Games 2 the MAX! Tout n'est pas rose pour autant chez Nintendo qui s'attire les foudres des joueurs en déposant des brevets un peu louches à tout va, et en se remplissant les poches au tribunal.
