Retro-Spective: The Playstation Vita Adam does another solo show but this time gives us a (not so) brief history of the PlayStation Vita, why it was a great system, and goes into some of his favorite games for the system including, Killzone: Mercenary, Soul Sacrifice, Freedom Wars, and Gravity Rush. Here's to hoping some of those lost IPs will return in some form on next gen systems. Did you have the chance to play on this amazing system? Did Adam make you feel like you really missed out? PlayStation has officially retired the Killzone website, quashing hopes for a series comeback anytime soon. The website's removal also impacts the ability to create and manage clans within 2013's Killzone: Shadow Fall, though the servers for both it and Killzone Mercenary remain live. When it comes to games getting canceled and studios closing they're never a good thing, though some hit much, much harder than others. In the latest installment of the ShockCast, Lou, Ryan, and Azario delve into one of the more unfortunate sides of the gaming industry by discussing game cancellations and studio closures, in the wake of the recent canceling of the Xbox One/PC title Scalebound and Killzone: Mercenary developer Guerrilla Cambridge. Aside from that, we also sidetrack a bit into some recent game releases in a busy January, including Ryan's dive into the horrors of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, Azario's take on Gravity Rush 2, and a few others. Stick a Zelda under the tree, for me... The jingle bells continue this week as the holiday season creeps ever closer and the game releases are grinding to a halt. It's still been a busy week for news though, as we discuss The Game Awards 2014 and all the newest announcements that were made at the show (new Zelda footage anyone?!?). From the First World Problems Department, there were WAY too many games in February 2014!Editors Note: This is the first of two recent NFR episodes that have been stuck in the editing backlog. The other should be out within the next week or so.We're warning you up front: There's a lot of games up in this here episode, and the oldest one we cover is a little over six months old. Stephen opens the bidding in New Business with Level 5's rhythm comedy 3DS game Weapon De Omasse Shop, which will no doubt be on sale in an eShop near you shortly, then blasts away our expectations for Killzone Mercenary and finishes by Russian into the PS4 version of Strider. Although nobody asked for Donald's list, he takes Deus Ex: Human Revolution (WiiU) for a spin before tackling Bravely Default and recommending one character in particular for a good booting. To finish, Donald goes ape over Retro's greatest game ever [citation needed], Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropcial Freeze. Austen gets his inner vampire on with Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2, revisits his old friend Elle in The Last of Us: Left Behind, and takes Donald to trial for not playing enough Danganronpa. After a brisk visit to the forums for Now Posted, the group calls an audible to try and finish the show quickly so Stephen blasts through a considerable Whatcha Watchin' list that includes the following: The incredibly redundant Legend of Legendary Heroes, Kenchi: Mightiest Disicple, Kaze no Stigma, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, House of Cards (S2), The Lego Movie and an Olympic update. Donald shows off a wrestling show you DON'T want to end up on with Botchamania, and plays the role of Oracle of Delphox as a critical eye is cast upon the Mankeys in Twitch Plays Pokemon. Austen has a brief stop at Steins;Gate sequel Robotics;Notes, in which you can apparently build a walking mecha for US$10,000. Find out how on this podcast. Listener Mail had to be reduced for time considerations, but the crew does present advice to a listener in Germany who lacks console experience and wants to try Chrono Trigger, as well as looks at their history with PC gaming. Finally, the Mushrooms call out Nintendo, Spike Chunsoft, Sony and Namco and we dare you to guess which one ends up with the 1up from that group. We still want to hear from you, so send any feature ideas, feedback and fun to nintendofreeradio@gmail.com or leave it in the comments below. Also, Donald didn't completely ruin a recent episode of Radio Free Nintendo (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/36690/episode-372-mystic-quest-is-not-okay) so be sure to listen to that when you're done if you haven't already! Austen loves him some Puppeteer and Killzone Mercenary, but if you're looking for crime from him, how about a little GATV available in Saints Row 4? Donald brings the representation from the handheld side with the indie Vita (and PS3, but we don't talk about that) RPG Dragon Fantasy Book II and wraps back around to an early 3DS contender for Game of the Year, Fire Emblem Awakening. In Whatcha Watchin, the updates continue as Stephen finishes off MasterChef, and Austen delivers on a promise from last episode with The Legend of Korra while checking on a recent Ghibli import, From Up On Poppy Hill.

This week, suffering under technical difficulties, we talk about Apple's wrongdoings, mead, memes, Out To Dinner, Magic: The Gathering 2013, Virtual Chess 64, SNES, and a new (real) job. Sony kills it at Gamescom - Crossbuy, Until Dawn, Puppeteer, Rain, Killzone: Mercenary and Tearaway are all announced. The Vita won't be getting a price cut this year, Capcom announce a terrible new Mega Man game, The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia gets an English translation, Capcom announce a sexy new Inception clone, Ubisoft confirm Rayman Legends will be a WiiU exclusive, the PlayStation Plus service gets even better, and Diablo III gets a free trial. We discuss the colour of the Big Apple, potential tattoos (by the way, here's that Whitest Kids U'Know sketch), lisps, Snagglepuss, and Seinfeld impressions.MUSIC USED:Plinky Plonky (Daytrotter Session): Born RuffiansClick Click Click Click: Xavier Rubetzki Noonan (from 2008!
