Whoa! Final Fantasy IV's got real estate problems, Bayonetta's got voice acting problems and Silent Hill hasn't got any problems, at least not yet. We're also playing some cool stuff: Noah's playing a mobil game and Tori's reading a bunch of books, which is sort of like playing video games. THINGS MENTIONED: This article on Inverse about some fans' misgivings about a Silent Hill 2 remake. Video Game Podtimism's Silent Hill 2 episode. This Bloomberg article about solving Final Fantasy XIV's housing crisis. This Washington Post article about Microsoft laying people off. And another Washington Post article about Microsoft's concerns with cloud gaming. This Bloomberg investigation into whatever the hell is going on with Bayonetta 3. This episode of Triple Click explaining the Xeno- series of games. Our cool sounds and intro/outro music are by GEIST and our show art is by Kai at Wisp Graphics. We curate your gaming news together and Noah produces the show. Featuring guest Dan Nagan of Everything We Learned (https://twitter.com/adapperdanman)! Red and Mandy live in remote, mountainous California. Jeremiah Sand wants Mandy for his own. When he finally gets her and finds out he can't earn her love, fealty, or fear, he burns her alive in front of her beloved. Red, newly given to the righteous, hellacious power of grief, embarks on a bloodbath rampage to exact vengeance on Sand, his followers, and the tripping, genetically modified sadomasochist biker gang that made Red's pain possible. For being a relatively new film, MANDY has already left its mark on the action/horror space. Thematically evocative of a prog rock paean, visually visceral like a death metal album cover, and dripping with psychedelic horror vibes, its vision never outstrips its execution. It can be slow, strange, off-putting, and unconvincing, but it's not forgettable. It rocks. It's also, sometimes, very good. It's a long one this week as Maverick hosts the show alongside Lorelai and Solon. Maverick's been playing Fortnite and Splatoon 3 while Solon is living for We Are OFK. Lorelai's been digging into Final Fantasy XIV's 6.2 patch when she's not experiencing real Brisket hours in Guilty Gear Strive or enjoying the newly rebooted Saints Row. In the news, Masahiro Sakurai's got a Youtube channel and Hideo Kojima's got a podcast. We're getting a new Dualsense wireless controller and Pokémon breeding is rumored to be changing. A Space for the Unbound has been delayed indefinitely because of their publisher being predatory as all hell. Featuring: Ammosart, Ashgar, Belghast, Grace, Kodra, Tamrielo, and Thalen Tonight is a bit of an odd show because it is in fact our 400th episode of AggroChat. If you had told me in April of 2015 that we would still be doing the show in 2022… I probably would have given you some side-eye. However here we are and for the most part, AggroChat has above all other things… been a time that the seven of us hang out every single week both in the lead-up to the show and events that often spawn after the show. Last week after the show we kicked around the idea of doing something special, which ended up materializing into a Question and Answer session. Huge thanks to our listeners who gave us some questions on the spur of the moment. The complete lack of planning… absolutely fits the overall theme of AggroChat as a show. We had a lot of fun answering the questions so who knows… maybe we will do another one of these at 500 or 600. Topics Discussed Listener Submitted Questions
In this episode of GGPC your hosts take a look at where it all begins: The Character Creation screen! Why does Coniff play a cat girl in Final Fantasy XIV? On this week's episode of IGN's PlayStation podcast, Podcast Beyond!, hot Jonathon Dornbush is joined by Mark Medina and Jada Griffin to dive into a question we've faced when playing many a game: when is a game too long, when does a game last for just the right amount of time, and are there any games that are too short and we wished lasted longer? The trio dives in and discusses some of the games they've found were just the right length, from What Remains to Edith Finch to Titanfall 2 to Jonathon's impassioned plea for Persona 5, to games we enjoyed but that we felt were too long, like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Mark's thoughts on Final Fantasy XIV. (We'll let him explain.) We also briefly jump into the PlayStation update that PS5 accolades are going away, whether you used them or not, and Jada follows up on some questions from last week's episode about where to get into the Yakuza franchise.Write in with your thoughts on PS5 UI and features you like and don't, or write in with a Memory Card story to firstname.lastname@example.org. It's a full crew this week as Lorelai, Solon, and Maverick sit down with Scott to talk about all the fun they've been having this week. Solon's been living his lawn perfect lifestyle with Lawn Mowing Simulator and Maverick's been playing Sleeping Dogs. Scott finally finished the super hard Inscryption challenge and then had some time with Norco and Pathologic 2. Lorelai's been digging into a lot with Rogue Legacy 2, Live A Live, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and has been working her weekend in Final Fantasy XIV's in game convention LunarCon. In the news, Roblox is now oofless, Meta is jacking up it's prices, you can't see John Cena in Fortnite, and Rockstar Games seems to be cleaning up it's act in regards to it's workplace culture. Summer is a time for schmoozing with friends, which is why Axe of the Blood God invited veteran guest Len Hafer to talk about the best video game genre in the whole wide world. (Psst—that means RPGS.) Leana helps the Blood God wrap up the PC RPG Quest with a deep dive into the computer RPGs that shaped the '10s. And oh, what a decade it was. Kickstarter dreams and nightmares! Bioware's troubles! World of Warcraft! The rise of CD Projekt Red! Final Fantasy XIV's fall and resurrection! They don't make drama like this anymore. Also in this episode: The Live A Live demo is…live. And it's already something special. Mega Man Battle Network is getting a collection. Hey, it's RPG-adjacent. And the second game has a lot of swear words in it for some reason. Is it "Nicky-Nicky-Nine-Door" or "Ding-Dong-Ditch?" Come to our upcoming charity stream for Trans Lifeline, or else. In the Post Show Leana joins the gang for the usual hodge-podge of good stuff that the Blood God Crew wrings out of itself at the end of every show. This week, the discussion turns to live-action and/or animated adaptations of video games that we'd like to see. Plus, lots of Summer Games Done Quick discussion… and hey! Nadia got a gaming computer that's worth half a damn! This episode is available exclusively to our Patrons in the Stars of Destiny tier and above!
