From stepping into the atrium for the first time to analyzing the brilliant guest management techniques that turned strangers into lifelong friends, Noah breaks down what made Starcruiser such a revolutionary experience.Discover how the Halcyon successfully balanced being a critic and a participant, why the experience worked like "medium difficulty Rock Band," and the sophisticated performer training that could read any guest's comfort level and meet them exactly where they were. We explore Starcruiser's design genius - from meaningful choices to sandbox moments that allowed for authentic expression within the story framework.Noah also tackles the big "what ifs" - what could have been different if they'd poured the concrete differently, why calling it a "hotel" was problematic from day one, and how economic pressures beyond creative control ultimately sealed the Halcyon's fate. Join us as we sit down with the incredible Americana rock band, American Mile! These Los Angeles-based road warriors are known for playing over 200 shows a year, and we dive deep into what the rock and roll tour lifestyle is like nowadays, with a special focus on staying healthy on the road. Ever wonder about an iconic riff like the one in "Waiting on a Sunday"? We ask the band: does a riff like that just come to you? Where does that inspiration truly come from? American Mile began with a strong rock foundation but found themselves drawn to the soul and storyteller songwriting of country music. We explore what it was about the narrative elements of country that made them fall in love with it. Their music often resonates with powerful themes of resilience and dedication, especially for those facing difficult times. We delve into their philosophy: where does this spirit of knowing life doesn't happen to you, it happens FOR you, truly come from? We also get to know Colton, the newer member of the band, and hear about his journey joining this dynamic group. From their explosive stage presence cultivated across countless venues like Summerfest and The Viper Room, to their new album "American Dream" following their acclaimed debut "The Longest Road," American Mile is a must-see act.
What happens when your dream career no longer fits who you are? Rui opens up about the turning point. In the second half of our conversation, Rui talks honestly about leaving his band after a difficult breakup caused by 方向性の違い (a difference in direction). He shares what happened behind the scenes, the emotional fallout, and how he slowly rebuilt his friendships with former bandmates. We also dive into his transition from musician to Japanese content creator—why he chose to make videos and podcasts, and how he found joy in helping learners around the world. I ask him about his “win-win-win” mindset: how to create content that helps others, fulfills him creatively, and remains sustainable. It's a thoughtful and inspiring conversation about creativity, purpose, and learning through change.

What's it really like to chase your dream in Tokyo's indie scene? Rui shares his story. In this episode, I talk with Rui from Okkei Japanese about his twenties—how he quit a steady job, took overnight buses to Tokyo, and played in tiny live houses (small concert venues popular in Japan's indie scene), often paying out of pocket to perform. He eventually pulled off a sold-out ワンマンライブ (a solo show by one band) in Tokyo—an important milestone for any independent artist. We also talk about the world of 対バン shows, where multiple bands share the same event and try to bring their own fans. If you're curious about how Japan's indie music scene works—or just want to hear natural conversation with deep cultural context—this one's for you.

“What if one of the biggest bands from the 2000s showed up at your local bowling alley… and played a full set for ten people?”That's not a fantasy—it's exactly what the All-American Rejects are doing, and it's the heart of this inspiring and hilarious episode of The Ben and Skin Show on 97.1 The Eagle. With Ben Rogers out on vacation, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray dive into one of the coolest stories in music right now: a major band ditching the big venues for a DIY tour that's all about connection, community, and pure rock energy. The crew breaks down the band's self-funded “House Party Tour,” where they're popping up in small towns, frat houses, and even bowling alleys—asking only for a $5 donation at the door. It's a middle finger to the corporate concert machine and a love letter to the fans who never stopped listening.
„Crawling“ oder „Somewhere I Belong“.

Lips Speak LouderTake a walk with me down Fascination Street, as I get to know Nashville based rock band Lips Speak Louder. In this episode, we get re-acquainted with previous guests Angela Lese and Rachel Brandsness. Each of these women had their own solo episode, where we got to know their back story. So we don't do that in this one. Instead, we discuss how they met, why they decided to start a band together, and why it was deemed necessary to make it a duo. Having been previously associated with the bands: Flarelight, The Dead Deads, Taco Mouth, Fingernails Are Pretty, Jax Hollow, and The Raelyn Nelson Band, and Emily Wolfe; this ultra-talented pair has developed their own unique sound. Rachel explains how she had to tinker with pedals and amps to manage a low end, fuller sound coming from her guitar, and the research that went into it. They explain where the name of their band comes from, and how they got Emily Wolfe to produce the album; which was recorded at Sweetwater Studios in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We do discuss their 10 track debut album 'Consolation Prize', and some of the tracks available on it. They even graciously let me play my favorite song from the new album! Make sure you follow them on the social medias, and check out their website for vinyl, merch, and tour dates. They will be supporting Emily Wolfe on June 14th at The Levitt Pavillion in Denver for Pride Night.
