And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. Mark 4:19. We must beware that we do not become overburdened even with what seem the necessary cares of life, so that we are unable to do the most essential work.... The largest share of the thoughts and the busy activities that engage hands and hearts, are given to selfish, personal, earthly interests. These are allowed to become so engrossing as to prevent attention to the things of eternity. The soul is left to starve for want of nourishment. Mind and body become worn out by protracted hours of application to worldly things. This is just as Satan designed it should be. All the freshness and vigor of the mind, all the keen thought, is given to the world, and God has the feeble, distracted thought, the fruit of a wearied and worried mind. The things of the highest consequence, which pertain to the eternal peace, are made subordinate to the common concerns of life, and God is robbed every day of service which would strengthen spirituality, lifting the thoughts heavenward, and bringing the soul into communion with God and holy angels.1Letter 23a, 1892. We are not to allow the things of this world so to absorb the attention that mind and body are completely engrossed. Thus those around us are robbed of the kindly words and deeds that would help them in the upward way. The channel of light is clogged with worldly matters. The grace that Christ is longing to impart, He cannot bestow. Many are coming to have less and less strength to impart to others, because they do not receive power from the Source of all power. God calls upon them to separate from the things which corrode the mind and spoil the religious experience.2Letter 181, 1904. All are pressed with urgent cares, burdens, and duties; but the greater the pressure upon you, the heavier the burdens you have to bear, the greater your need of divine aid. Jesus will be your helper. You need constantly the light of life of lighten your pathway, and then its divine rays will reflect upon others.3Manuscript 59, 1897 OHC 280.1 - OHC 280.4 --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tawasv/message

This week's panel - Big Ell, KooshMoose, FuFuCuddilyPoof, Vulgar Latin When You Love a Woman, you play video games with her. Fufu played a game with his wife; hopefully they didn't go their Separate Ways afterward. Send Her My Love. We welcome Vulgar Latin back with Open Arms. He "played" Don't Starve: Giant Edition. Big Ell yelled at Vulgar, then clouds, then Potata: Fairy Flower, and then Vulgar again. Hilarity ensued. Kooshmoose went on a Journey with New Super Lucky's Tale, which Faithfully recreated Super Lucky's Tale...just with a better camera. Only the Young had the OG Xbox as their first console. Do you use phrases like this? Before we get to ______ Without further adu I don't want to delay any further The Thin Line Between Teasing and Annoying It's one thing to take a quick 30-60 second tangent. It's a completely different issue when your tangents go on and on and the listener starts to wonder if you're ever coming back to the topic. Whatever the title of the episode is, people have tuned in to hear you talk about that subject. True Story I listened to the episode where the host did a FABULOUS job of introducing their guest. I really wanted to hear what their guest had to say. Then they said the dreaded words, "Before we get t0__" and then they spent a lot of time talking about a webinar she was having. This went on for about three minutes. Then when she finally got done rambling on about her webinar, I was ready her them to get to their guest (finally), but they didn't do that. Instead, they read a review that someone had put into Apple podcasts. Do you know who enjoys hearing those reviews? The host. The audience doesn't care. They might be happy if people leave a nice review, but the review does nothing to benefit their lives like the information that should be coming out of your guest's head. Let Me Help You Shape Your Content Lets set up a time for you and me to go over your podcast and find out what is working and what is not. Schedule a session today.

Klei Entertainment is a truly unique game developer that has created some of the most charming (yet brutal) games out there, such as Don't Starve and Oxygen Not Included. With an excellent blend of sound and visual design it's almost easy to forget that their games are some of the hardest out there. THROWBACK FRIDAY: Today's guest is bestselling author and creativity expert Jeff Goins. In this episode, he dismantles the myth that being creative is a hindrance to success by revealing how an artistic temperament is, in fact, a competitive advantage in the marketplace. For centuries, the myth of the starving artist has dominated our culture, seeping into the minds of creative people and stifling their pursuits. But the truth is that the world’s most successful artists did not starve. In fact, they capitalized on the power of their creative strength. In Real Artists Don’t Starve, Jeff Goins debunks the myth of the starving artist by unveiling the ideas that created it and replacing them with timeless strategies for thriving, including• Steal from your influences (don’t wait for inspiration)• Collaborate with others (working alone is a surefire way to starve)• Take strategic risks (instead of reckless ones), make money in order to make more art (it’s not selling out)• Apprentice under a master (a “lone genius” can never reach full potential)Through inspiring anecdotes of successful creatives both past and present, Goins shows that living by these rules is not only doable but it’s also a fulfilling way to thrive. From filmmakers to screenwriters to graphic designers and writers to artists and business professionals, creatives already know that no one is born an artist. Jeff Goins’ revolutionary rules celebrate the process of becoming an artist, a person who utilizes the imagination in fundamental ways. He reminds creatives that business and art are not mutually exclusive pursuits. In fact, success in business and in life flow from a healthy exercise of creativity. Expanding upon the groundbreaking work in his previous bestseller The Art of Work, Goins explores the tension every creative person and organization faces in an effort to blend the inspired life with a practical path to success. Being creative isn’t a disadvantage for success; rather, it is a powerful tool to be harnessed. There's no need for filmmakers, screenwriters or any artist to starve anymore! Enjoy my eye-opening conversation with Jeff Goins.

*This ep was recorded April 6, but because of an oversight, it is being uploaded June 13* In this ep, Ezekiel and Kelly talk about their dislike of 2012's Prometheus, the fifth in the Alien franchise as well as discussing their current media. Kelly has been reading The Wheel Of Time book series, Ezekiel has been reading The Andromeda Strain and reread Lantern City graphic novel Vol. 1. In the second installment of our Capital-C Classics block, Joel and Vincent dig deep into the Classic film Citizen Kane, whether or not knowing a twist spoils the ending, and the different ways the infamous ending could be interpreted. We have a few episodes in the can that will be releasing this Saturday on April 28, 2018! Join us and listen as we delve into what makes video games, shows, entertainment, media, and the stories within such moving explorations of art so great, but we aren't afraid to criticize and call out some problematic practices found within media. We'll release an episode once a week every Saturday! Keep in mind there's a delay on iTunes / Apple Podcasts, but it'll be there! Alternatively, just click the Home button above to listen to the podcast right here when it releases. This is our introduction, so take a listen to find out what this podcast is about! In the meantime, we have a bunch of links to social media. We're trying to build awareness by making an offer to anyone on social media. Drop us a name of a character and what franchise they're from, and we'll respond with a fun fact about that character. Maybe you'll already know it, but maybe you'll learn something new. If it is a character we don't know, we might have to do some research, but if it is from a franchise listed above, there's a better chance we may know a really obscure fun fact. To be on the safe side, here are all of our social media links.Email: gametheorems@gmail.comWebsite: http://gametheorem.podbean.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/gametheoremsTwitter: https://twitter.com/gametheoremsTumblr: https://gametheorem.tumblr.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/mysterymachinexInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/gametheorem/?hl=eniTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/game-theorem/id1375986486 Intro and outro music originally composed by Zach Grill.
Today's guest is bestselling author and creativity expert Jeff Goins. In Real Artists Don’t Starve, Jeff Goins debunks the myth of the starving artist by unveiling the ideas that created it and replacing them with timeless strategies for thriving, includingSteal from your influences (don’t wait for inspiration)Collaborate with others (working alone is a surefire way to starve)Take strategic risks (instead of reckless ones), make money in order to make more art (it’s not selling out)Apprentice under a master (a “lone genius” can never reach full potential)Through inspiring anecdotes of successful creatives both past and present, Goins shows that living by these rules is not only doable but it’s also a fulfilling way to thrive. From filmmaker to screenwriter to graphic designers and writers to artists and business professionals, creatives already know that no one is born an artist.

Hej ho! Nadciągamy z kolejnym odcinkiem! Tym razem postawiliśmy na odcinek stricte tematyczny. Korzystając z obecności gościa - Krzyśka Wojdyły, członka inicjatywy Pog(r)adajmy, postanowiliśmy zagłębić się w temat gier kooperacyjnych. Nie sposób nie zauważyć zintensyfikowanej obecności Diany. W odcinku znalazło się miejsce m.in. dla płonących świń z Don't Starve, szalonych akcji rodem z Army of Two, trybu Battle Royale oraz mnóstwa innych dobroci. Z pewnością nie wyczerpaliśmy tematu w pełni. Chętnie poczytamy o Waszych ulubionych grach kooperacyjnych.

Focal Text: Matt 3: 13-17 Matthew 3:13–17 KJV - "[13] Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. [14] But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? [15] And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. [16] And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: [17] And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
