You had to know this was going to happen LOL. This set was more difficult than most to put together so I made different versions and posted version 2 not the final version. That's now been corrected. The changes are pretty significant with new additions and updated versions of older songs that sound pretty dated from their original release. If you're a fan of Rihanna, I would highly recommend grabbing this version because the original set is still available on the website and can be found here. Robin Rihanna Fenty is a Barbadian born singer, songwriter and actress who was signed to Def Jam Recordings by Jay Z. How she was actually able to secure an audition for him is glossed over on her Wiki page (since that just doesn't happen) but she the single best decision Jay Z made while heading the label. With the release of her first two albums ('Music of the Sun' and 'A Girl Like Me') her star was on the rise with popular hits like 'Pon de Replay' and 'SOS'. By the time her third album 'Girl Gone Bad' was released, she had not only taken creative control of her music but thrust herself into the pop stratosphere as a sex symbol with the release of the first single 'Umbrella' (a song notoriously passed over by Mary J. Blige and Britney Spears depending on what story you believe). Since then, Rihanna has sold over 230 million albums worldwide making her one of the best-selling artists of all time. Here at Party Favorz, we just love her because of the constant stylistic makeovers and frankly she's absolutely FABULOUS! It's been awhile since she was originally inducted into the DIVA Hall of Fame, and with the release of 'Anti' last year (the gift that keeps on giving), it was time to refresh her original induction. Ladies and gentlemen, once again please welcome ...Miss Rihanna! On August 4th, 2013, the season premiere of Club Soda 8: Tricoro became available. It starts off with the MB countdown mix, which recaps some of the wonderful songs that came out in 2012. Due to much feedback regarding the old format of putting in album covers for navigation, I've brought them back. While you're listening to each continuous episode, the album cover will change according to the song. I hope you enjoy this, and please spread the word!!! Many of the tracks on this podcast are based on what was played during the many parties onboard. Finally kicking out the last installment of the Time Capsule 2K13 series. After working on all four sets for the past several months, I can honestly say and predict that EDM as we may know it is on the precipice of plateauing. That's not to say that it won't be as big as ever in 2014, because it will. However, with the watering down and manufactured sounds spurred by the big labels that churn out one anthem after another, it's hard to differentiate between one artist or producer over the other. It's like “hey that formula really worked for Swedish House Mafia last year, so let's copy it 20 more times and we're guaranteed a hit or two. A good example of this is the young prodigy Zedd. Last year's Spectrum and this year's Clarity were both massive hits off of his major label debut on Interscope; so much so they released the “expanded” version of the album with the new single Stay the Night, which basically followed the same formula of its two predecessors. It was a decent enough song but so obviously formulaic, I couldn't help but feel his label is boxing him in and stifling his creativity. 2014 will be a real opportunity for him to switch it up and present us with something new while clicking on the dance floor as well as radio (the latter being expected by his bosses). Avicii clearly understands you have to stay fresh. His single Wake Me Up, which was panned by many as to country, folksy or gimmicky, went on to become one of the biggest EDM tracks of the year. If he had major label backing, it's likely that song may have never made it out of the gate. Of course, this leads me to the disco insurgence of 2013 by comeback kings Daft Punk. Thankfully, someone over at Sony had the good sense to put some serious backing and promotion behind their latest effort. Get Lucky was also one of the biggest dance tracks of 2013 and rightfully so. With its thick bassline recalling the late great Bernard Edwards and slick guitar licks by Nile Rogers both of Chic fame, the song would fit nicely smack dab in the middle of 1979. While I don't see any straight-up disco resurgence going forward, I wouldn't at all be surprised if it's sibling NuDisco manages to crossover into the mainstream sometime in 2014. With Tiesto taking up residence right next door to Britney in Las Vegas, you really begin to understand the copious amounts of money surrounding EDM now as it has moved from the underground to mainstream acceptance. The fuse has been lit in 2013 and will continue to burn (thank you Ellie G.) through 2014 before finally imploding sometime in 2015. Party Favorz has been at this a long time and has followed the trends from disco to NRG to house to trance and so forth. Each trend in dance music is a byproduct of another, often with a twist and I expect no different in the future. I am not making any predictions as to what new sounds may be in store for us but my undying passion for all things dance will continue unabated and Party Favorz fully expects to take everyone down the road towards “the next big thing” as it happens. So stick around and I'll make sure we stay on the right path. Album : Time Capsule 2K13 v4 Genre : EDM Year : 2013 Total Time : 1:17:54 1. It's time for one final induction into the Diva Hall of Fame and Party Favorz is more than pleased to finally honor the one and only Rihanna. Having moved from Barbados to the United States at the age of 16, RiRi began recording demos until her introduction to Jay-z, then head of Def Jam Recordings who ultimately signed her. The first single Pon de Replay taken from her debut album was a top ten hit followed by her second album with the #1 hit SOS. When her third album Good Girl Gone Bad came out all bets were off. Def Jam put a hefty amount of support and promotion behind that album including a dance remix album accompanied its initial release. Umbrella was a certified smash, which solidified RiRi's stature as an international superstar. She can thank Mary J. Blige for passing on that song when it was first offered to her. That track was followed up by other hit singles Take A Bow, Disturbia and Don't Stop the Music, which sampled Michael Jackson's Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', and further solidified her popularity. I don't see any point in re-hashing her relationship with Chris Brown as she's a grown woman and can make her own decisions (even if a good majority of folks disagree). You can hit the gossip sites for that crap. Equally, not much point in listing all of her accomplishments and hit singles. While not completely comprehensive, this set is damn near close. For cohesive reasons, a few songs were left off though Tony Moran and Chris Cox's popular mixes would likely resurface on a future RiRi set. While this may be RiRi's first induction, it certainly won't be her last. It's likely time for her to release a greatest hits comp with a couple of new singles by the end of the year and then follow that up with a massive world tour, but who am I to say. Whatever she does, it will no doubt be a massive success. At this point, I would like to welcome Rihanna into the Diva Hall of Fame, where she is amongst good friends and serious heavyweights. Congratulations! Album : The Diva Series featuring Rihanna Genre : Electro, EDM Year : 2013 Total Time : 01:57:04 1. Only Girl (In The World) (Joey B Electro Remix) 2. I thought I'd sneak a surprise this Sunday and drop the next EDM set way before scheduled. I started working on it after work yesterday and got up early this morning and finished. This thing has been road-tested already so I thought, “why not post it?” No doubt this thing is a monster which contains a good balance of commercial and big room bangers. There is so much goodness baked into this set, you'll likely be hearing many of these songs all summer long. As all the PF heads know, June is a big month around here. Dedicated to Pride, you can expect at least a set every week. I've got some ideas for this year in an attempt to keep things fresh but it's gonna take a while to pull it all together. So, I don't want to make any promises between now and the end of May. That's not to say I won't be posting but I'm not committing to anything specific. You'll know when it drops so make sure you're signed up for updates cause you never know what may happen in the next few weeks. Hey Music Lovers, Wow, it has indeed been almost two months since my last Podcast. Needless to say, I've started a new full-time job and I've been working my little behind some very long hours getting a new TV show off the ground. I'm thrilled to get back to you with my February chapter, "Love Stinks." I'm trying to get back on a once-a-month regular posting schedule. Needless to say, there's been so much great new music that I had a really tough time choosing tracks! I think the new Emili Sande (Manhattan Clique) and Olly Murs (Kat Krazy) remixes are the two tracks that are working me the hardest right now. And, of always, you'll find my signature blend of hot new tracks, classics, along with a bit of EDM (no hip hop in this set though... next one, promise!) I also have a lot of great live gigs coming up (so come out to hear me!), including: Feb. 16th -- Size at Here lounge (4 - 7 PM), West Hollywood Feb. 22nd -- Stripper Circus, Share Nightclub, Las Vegas Mar. 7th -- Out Magazine Macy's Fashion Show event Mar. 8th -- Dirty Pop, Bourbon St., San Diego Mar. 17th -- Mammoth ELEVATION gay ski weekend, Mammoth Lakes April 5th -- Dirty Pop, Micky's, West Hollywood May 19th -- Gay Men's Chorus LA, Annual gala Without further delay, your "Love Stinks" tracklisting: "Fierce" (Josh Peace Mustache Redux), AZEALIA BANKS x FRANKLIN FUENTES X DRUMS OF DEATH "Follow Running Foxes" (Zedd x Foxes x Deniz Koyu x Wynter Gordon x Youngblood Hawke), The Jane Doze "Only Imagine This City" (Starship vs. David Guetta), DJ Schmolli "A Love I Call My Own" (Original Mix), Crystal Waters, Nicola Fasano & Steve Forest "Boomerang" (Cahill Radio Edit), Nicole Scherzinger "C'mon' (Cosmic Dawn Radio Edit).
