The Lakers, mired in a tight battle in the Western Conference, faced off against another one of those teams in the same situation as LA, the Minnesota Timberwolves, on Tuesday night. For the Lakers, the key on Tuesday night was that they brought that same defensive energy used on Sunday to guide them through the first half. But it was turned up even more as Luka Doncic (31 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists) and Austin Reaves (31 points) keyed a strong 39-23 third-quarter run that guided them to an easier-than-anticipated victory, 120-106. The Lakers returned quickly from Denver on Friday as they faced off against the Indiana Pacers in a quick turnaround on Friday night. The Lakers continued their march to the last quarter of the season with a matchup in the Mile High City as they faced off against the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers continued their brief homestand with a matchup against another struggling team, the New Orleans Pelicans. The Lakers celebrated Luka Doncic's birthday with a trip to the Bay Area as they ended the mini road trip in the confines of the Chase Center with a contest against the Golden State Warriors. And with a depleted Golden State roster on tap, the Lakers gave Luka a great present with an efficient LeBron James (22 points, 9 assists 7-13 shooting) and Austin Reaves (18 points 7-11 overall), a productive bench with Luke Kennard and Jake LaRavia (a combined 31 points on 7-13 from three), and the birthday boy himself (26 points, 8 assists on 9-17 from the floor) blew out the Golden State candles himself putting the finishing touches with a hot streak from three to start the second half as the Lakers cruised to a lead more than thirty points and finished up with an easy 129-101 victory over the Warriors. The Lakers FINALLY finished off the Grammy trip with a stop in Brooklyn to face New York's other team, the Brooklyn Nets. On what should have been an off day for the Lakers was anything but, as ESPN published a story from Baxter Holmes taking a deeper look at the sale of the team by the Buss family to Mark Walter. The Lakers come back home after getting embarrassed in Sacramento with the second in a back-to-back against the Atlanta Hawks. And after such a poor effort, for three of the four quarters they got the exact opposite with LeBron James (31 points 9 rebounds, 10 assists) playing in his first back-to-back feeling good, and Luka Doncic (27 points, 12 assists), Deandre Ayton (17 points, 18 rebounds), and the starting lineup all in double figures as they rocketed out to 81 point first half and kept the lead above ten throughout the rest of the game as they ended up cruising to a 141-116 victory over the Hawks.
