Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!! This week we are starting a new theme of "Sci-Fi Mystery" with the small indie film: Spring (2014) Despite being a pretty low-budget production, this film has wormed its way into my brain ever since the end credits rolled. Its a unique journey and one that offers up many interesting ideas about Life and Death and the nature of Infinity vs. the finite lives we live as humans. I gave this film an 8.5/10 for being both a beautiful love story and a thought-provoking philosophical journey. On top of that it mixed mythology with science fiction which I found extra unique. Starting off our fourth!?! season with a real interesting one. Spring is just around the corner and our hearts are turning to thoughts of genetic legacy and what, if anything, matters in the face of an uncaring universe. We also get right into the real real questions like "is this Horror?"

This Today's Boondoggle Special Edition series brings back the VGN Midwest Wasteland Catalog to our listening audience every Saturday. Back during a time when a group of men could get together and share stories about their lives before the world became so judgmental and offended by everything and Woke Mobs ran roughshod with their cancel pitchforks and torches. Dudes discussing a plethora of topics through out it's run that you will find highly entertaining. There will be drinking, there will be burping, there will be farting, and there will be a lot of bad humor. Spring has sprung, so what better time to cover Benson & Moorehead's Spring than right now? There is no better time, obviously. Silly question. How foolish of you to ask. Anyway, Corinne Corrosive returns after The Shunting to discuss arguably the most emotionally mature film from the directing duo and to join the boys as they wade into a discussion about the horror of immortality and ultimately reveal that all 3 of them dislike the ending for entirely different reasons. This week was Cory's pick. We reviewed the 2014 romantic horror film "Spring." This one comes to us from Benson and Moorehead (Resolution, The Endless). It's a very unique love story with Lovecraftian horror and some legitimate tension woven in. In honor of both After Midnight and Sadistic Intentions being released on Valentine's Day, our series for February is Love and Monsters. The focus of this series is going to be movies that are primarily driven by a romance story line, but that also have monsters (rather than monster movies that have a romance subplot)... so, we are super excited to be kicking off this series with Spring (2014), by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead!! Not only is this a very solid, character driven romance story with a very interesting incorporation of the monster, but the tagline for the movie is literally "love is a monster." Plus, Spring serves as a perfect intro to this series because of the connections with After Midnight and Sadistic Intentions (Benson and Moorhead are producers of After Midnight, and Jeremy Gardner is in all three movies). We both loved Spring and absolutely recommend it!! But, if you have not yet seen Spring and want to go into the movie with absolutely no spoilers, be warned that towards the end of this episode we do heavily discuss the ending of the movie, the implications of the ending, and whether or not we agree on if it is how the movie should have ended (but, we do give a spoiler warning in the episode before diving into the ending). With that being said, we hope that you enjoy tonight's episode! And if you enjoy a dash of monster in your love stories, we absolutely recommend checking out Spring!! Video Monsters is brought to you by the Chattanooga Film Festival and Central Cinema in Knoxville, TN. Follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or online at chattfilmfest.org and centralcinema865.com Links for each of these can also be found on our pages, so be sure to follow us at videomonsterpod on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well. Vegas is all about unique experiences and YardHouse is no exception. Great food, an epic beer selection and a choice location to take in the majesty of the High Roller observation wheel in LINQ's promenade. At first glance you may think this is just another gastropub and you'd be right but this is one of the good ones. Two stories with a 2nd floor, outdoor patio, located at the eastern most part of the promenade at LINQ, YardHouse has, what is known as, a prime location. If you only experience one dining establishment in the LINQ promenade, it needs to be YardHouse. In fact we felt so highly about it, that we feature it as the kick off even to 360 Vegas Vacation 2.
Thai food has a reputation for being some of the hottest cuisine on the planet, Asian food with a kick. The concept has always intrigued but as with most new foods, the vast collection of things featured in their dishes intimidated. Enter Keren, Vegas, Aria and Lemongrass, the perfect storm to inspire food experimentation. It’s also the only Thai restaurant on the Vegas strip so clearly the options are limited. Prepare to have your senses stimulated as Thai food is an art form. It’s dishes feature at least 3 of the 5 of taste senses; sour, sweet, salty, bitter and spicy, in each dish with a grand plan to visit them all making a harmonious finish.
Never has the death of a shittier place been so lamented by so many. When O'Shea's was closed in 2012 to make way for the Linq project, even though it was announced it would return once the Linq project was done, people bemoaned. Maybe people were skeptical that Caesars entertainment wouldn't keep its promise. Maybe they thought it wouldn't be the same or maybe people just really like having their shoes make that suction cup sound as they attempt to traverse across the urine and vomit covered linoleum. Whatever the reason, people celebrated its return. Little more than an Irish bar with a casino in it, O'Shea's made sure to bring back its staples, Beer pong, karaoke, cheep booze and gambling as well as the drunken loud vibe are alive and well. In fact, it’s been so successful that Linq promised to expand O'Shea's into the space next door left vacant due to a failed deal with a potential tenant. However that has yet to materialize.
It should be the most embarrassing example of how simple-minded the male sex is. Beer, simple food and scantily clad women serving you is a sure fire way to be a successful bar/restaurant. It’s like one stop shop for the male id. Luckily the concept has evolved over the years and improved in just about every way from the Hooters model. Uniforms have moved on from orange spandex to plaid school girl skirts and tiny mountain gear. But ever better than that, the food has improved and a concept as simple as offering lots of variety in the beer offerings have found their way into the tits and ass and food and booze game. Tilted kilt is one of the later. TheIr latest incarnation in Vegas can be found in the Linq Promenade and while they don’t offer outdoor seating, the space takes advantage of the atmosphere in Linq with open air seating and a bar located right by those windows. A more intimate experience can be had on the second floor for those who desire it.

This is my archive, my inner soul, my love and passion for of over 20 years of hunting and collecting the secret pearls in Techno and House Music. I can´t say how much years I´ve spend with crawling the vinyls in recordstores all over the world. Unfortunately they pass away faster and faster, but I can smell the taste of fresh and old vinyl everytime I listen to my mixtapes. Electronic music has never been that good as today, I love hunting, collecting and mixing it up to my vision of sound. When I record a mixtape then I just press record and start mixing. About twenty minutes later I´m deep in flow …it´s somehow like a hypnotic trip into sound. “When the music is loud it takes over your body and it just takes you to a whole other place” You can press play and skip a mixtape, but you will never feel what I felt while mixing. Take your time.
Dr. Meganne Masko and I will discuss the articles from the Journal of Music Therapy, Spring 2014 issue, volume 51 number 1.
