In this exciting episode of the Wise_N_Nerdy podcast, hosts Charles, Joe, and Kurt dive deep into the world of conspiracy theories with their opening question of the week: "What is your favorite conspiracy theory?" The trio entertains listeners with a wide range of theories, from extraterrestrial life to the peculiar notion that Disney created the movie Frozen for a rather unexpected reason. As tradition dictates, the roll of the dice guides the conversation to the "What are you Nerding out about?" segment. Charles and Kurt can't stop raving about Balatro, with Charles finally taking the plunge and buying the game. They also explore some top-notch board games from 25th Century Games. Joe shares his recent rewatch of Disturbia, while Kurt opens up about his upcoming panniculectomy. The dice then bring them to the "Daddy, tell me a story" segment, where Joe recounts a hilariously awkward interview experience. An innocent Google search of "Joseph Ard" led the interviewer to discover a convicted criminal with the same name, making for an unexpectedly tense encounter. The episode continues with a couple of fun Speakpipes from Devocite, followed by a classic bad dad joke about Saturday and Sunday being the strongest days of the week. As the show winds down, the hosts reflect on how they met and fell in love with their wives during the heartfelt "How do I...?" segment. Where were you that April if you weren't seeing Disturbia (2007) in theaters? It was the year of Shia, and a new creepy classic was emerging out of the mid-aughts. This flick is a quintessential millennial movie, an updated take on Hitchcock's Rear Window (though legally we should warn you that we're not speaking literally, because there's like legit drama there). It also shares a name with an iconic Rihanna song that'll get stuck in your head faster than you can ask, "What's wrong with me? Why do I feel like this?" On our latest episode of Spooky Tuesday, we're doing our best not to break into song too much as we throw it back to our earlier horror days. Good riddance to 2023, a few interesting artists, the tragic characters Montgomery Clift and Guillaume Depardieu, the fascinating and missed Guiseppe Andrews, hearing songs at the grocery store, Matthew Modine is awesome, my life is becoming like the movie Memento, and a New Year's Eve greeting from The Godfather Part II. It's giving Disturbia. It's giving Scream. It's giving Bram Stoker's Dracula and The Lost Boys and Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire. And it's most definitely giving Vincent Price. Make no mistake, though — Fright Night (1985) is absolutely iconic in its own right. A creature feature where each and every vampire gets their own special set of teeth, this classic ‘80s flick is home to some great hallmarks of the era. On our latest episode of Spooky Tuesday, we're breaking down Chris Sarandon's famous monster movie as we talk about CLEAR references, hot couples, and incredible practical effects. New season, new format, and a true classic to kick it off. This week we're covering REAR WINDOW... and a whole lot more! The team takes a look at Hithcock's classic as well as three adaptations: the very 80s Body Doube, the radically 90s Simpsons episode Bar of Darkness, and the angsty 00s Disturbia! On today's episode we talk about EB vs. Frederick and how it started a loosey-goosey Open Line Thursday. We discuss the art of seduction and how titillating our "Disturbia" scenario at work is. Plus, we are offended by the Junks claiming shower time is the best time for personal fun time.

Disturbia (2007) was chosen because we've become big fans of writer-director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) of late. He co-wrote this teenage Rear Window that is very indicative of the time in which it was released. This episode was previously premium Patreon content which originally posted on February 5th, 2021. The post BMFcast Extra 211 – Disturbia first appeared on Bad Movie Fiends - The BMFcast.
PUBLIC VERSION. Filmmaker Christopher Landon (FREAKY, HAPPY DEATH DAY, the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY series) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen to discuss his career journey and the making of his latest film WE HAVE A GHOST (now playing on Netflix). From getting his start working with Larry Clark (KIDS)… to almost quitting the business after DISTURBIA… to how moving to Austin, TX helped bring him back to the career he loves… to how he got involved with the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY universe… to his knack for subverting and twisting genres… to working with David Harbour and Anthony Mackie on his new spooky heartfelt family drama WE HAVE A GHOST (which he describes as “E.T. with a ghost”)… to how he shot the complicated VFX heavy car chase in the film… to the devastating news that he received right before production began… Chris takes us through his process of finding the right formula for a good “Amblinesque” genre film and explains why he feels that blending genres should always come from a personal place.
