This week's Mixtape Rewind takes us back to Season 3 when we first thought of the idea that would become our podcast, The Battle. What happens when two totally different songs share the exact same title? We built a “battle mix” to find out—pairing heavyweights and outliers across genres and decades—then we argue, analyze, and crown winners. From Go to Get Back, each round reveals how a single word can split into protest anthems, breakup arias, dance‑floor bliss, or guitar‑driven chaos. We kick off with Blink‑182 and The Black Keys on Go, weighing a bold tonal shift against a signature groove. Eurythmics steamroll Charles & Eddie on Would I Lie To You with brass, bite, and Annie Lennox's powerhouse vocal. True Love sparks a values debate: Angels & Airwaves deliver a soaring, cinematic build while Coldplay's “lie if you must” line clashes with the title. Roy Orbison's You Got It proves timeless compared to a New Kids on the Block time capsule. Then it's Growing Pains, as Alessia Cara's present‑tense anxiety meets Ludacris's reflective narrative—two coming‑of‑age angles, one title. The center of the card gets fiery. Green Day's Holiday channels mid‑2000s protest energy against Madonna's disco‑pop celebration. Rihanna's Take A Bow serves velvet‑gloved dismissal, while Muse opens an album with a synth‑rock chill that lingers. Tupac and The Beach Boys both claim I Get Around, one with effortless charisma and the other with historic chart significance. Foo Fighters' Run slams with near‑metal intensity, outpacing Snow Patrol's slow‑burn. Happy pits NF's candid mental‑health lens against Pharrell's pure joy machine—two roads to one feeling. And our main event, Get Back, throws Ludacris's peak hit‑maker energy against The Beatles' cultural gravity and complicated context. https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/same-name-different-songs-mix/pl.u-JPAZEoJTLd7Y15jhttps://open.spotify.com/playlist/1sCtai2Hujfbv9kZD0qnU9?si=779125752f4c4f3f Go by The Black KeysGo by blink-182Would I Lie To You? What a difference a couple of months makes: back in early May, people were concerned about Scheffler because he was winless on the season. Then, he went to a small event and blew away the field, won the PGA Championship the next week, and yesterday capped off a dominant win at the Open Championship at Royal Portrush Scheffler was 17-under and won by 4 shots, but it really wasn't that close. He had a 7-shot lead midway through his first 9 holes yesterday… Show Sponsored by SANDHILLS GLOBALOur Sponsors:* Check out Hims: https://hims.com/EARLYBREAKAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Declan Rice, TAKE A BOW. The Arsenal midfielder hit two STUNNING free kicks against Real Madrid on Tuesday en route to a 3-0 win for the Gunners at the Emirates. Inter Milan went into Munich and left with a 2-1 against Bayern thanks to a beautiful Latauro Martinez finish, followed by a Davide Fratessi goal to take the lead back in the 88th minute. Barcelona, unsurprisingly, handled business against Dortmund with a 4-0 win at Camp Nou, and PSG handled Villa by way of a 3-1 win in France. The guys also gloss over last week's EPL action, while Chad mentions the literal CHILD who debuted for Leicester City. We feel old. For the second successive year, the Las Vegas Grand Prix delivered an entertaining race. The cold temperatures and the circuit layout brought Mercedes into play and it was George Russell who maximised his chances - in Qualifying, by clinching pole position, and then winning from pole in the Race. Lewis Hamilton, who made two rare errors in Qualifying, finished second in the race after delivering a solid recovery drive from 10th on the grid. The 2024 Formula 1 season will be remembered in the sport's history. For the first time in history, there are four teams with multiple wins and with 1-2 finishes in the races. And of course, it will be remembered as one of Verstappen's finest Drivers' Championship wins, after all, he's won the title in what is the third fastest car as per the classification. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora, @f1statsguru and Kunal Shah review the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix. The entertainment, the stars, the overtakes, the degrading tyres, Ferrari's pace but lack of strategy, the Charles Leclerc-Carlos Sainz love-hate relationship, Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda's points scoring ways, Pierre Gasly's third in Qualifying going up in flames, Aston Martin's no score and more. There was once a time when Arsenal fans didn't like David Raya. Didn't like that he'd taken the number one jersey. Didn't think he was one of the top goalkeepers. Well, Thursday night's double save against Atalanta has surely by now changed everyone's mind. Amy Lawrence was watching Arsenal come away with a hard earned point in Bergamo. In the night's other matches, Barcelona conspired to beat themselves, although Monaco helped as well. Leipzig lost in the last minute to Atletico Madrid. Bayer Leverkusen were purring in Rotterdam. But the story of the night goes to Brest, winners in their first ever European game. Elsewhere we hear that all is not well with the Fifa Club World Cup. And we look ahead to what's set to be a thrilling season in the WSL. Need something to read? As huge Van Halen fans growing up, The Wolf & Action Jackson always took a keen interest in the career of Wolfgang Van Halen and his band Mammoth. Though The Wolf had seen Wolfgang on tour with Van Halen on bass near the end of their run, he'd missed opportunities to see Mammoth in the past. However, he remedied when they hit Louisville on the last night of their latest tour of the USA and boy was he treated to a killer show. Wolfgang Van Halen is front and center as the lead singer, lead guitarist and lead storyteller. He delighted in the fact that his band has received so much support for their first two albums (Mammoth WVH & Mammoth II) and entertained the crowd by pronouncing Louisville (Loo-a-vul) correctly, profusely (and profanely) thanking opening act Intervals and threw us a headfake with a few bars of an Oasis classic. The tight band ripped through songs off Mammoth II like Erase Me, Better Than You and Take A Bow while also breaking out the acoustic for Distance and kicking out his Dad Eddie's favorite Think It Over from the first record. He bends bluesy notes in some of his solos while working in some of that tapping that made Eddie a Rock God. It's no surprise they've earned opening gigs with Metallica and Foo Fighters as well as some top notch European festival spots. Seeing them in a club (The Mercury Ballroom) while they're on their way up was a fun night out and we highly recommend catching them if you can! Being born into rock royalty doesn't make you a rock star—you've gotta earn it with your own chops. And whether it's the classical pedigree of his first name or the hard-rock infamy of his surname, Wolfgang Van Halen has a long lineage to live up to. As he displays on this episode of Shred With Shifty, he's more than up to the task. Wolf joins Shifty to teach the blistering, tap-heavy solo for his song “Take a Bow,” from 2023's Mammoth II. It follows in his dad's footsteps, sure, but it also shows Wolf has a voice and vision of his own—both of which are just as potent and theatrical as his father's. Wolf treats us to a tour of his new signature semi-hollowbody EVH model, the SA126, with details from EVH managing director Matt Bruck. But he doesn't hold out on the family jewels: Wolf shares the story of his father's iconic Frankenstein Strat and brings it on the show, with some extra dirt on his dad's journey from Marshalls to his signature Peavey 5150 amps. When Shifty asks who's stewarding his father's invaluable gear, Wolf eases our concerns: “If the world ended, they would still be okay,” he grins. Click below to subscribe to the podcast!
