Ben Grant and JB officially kick off the 2026 season as the Toronto Argonauts open training camp and prepare for their preseason opener Saturday afternoon in Hamilton. This week's episode takes a deep dive into the early storylines shaping camp, including several surprising roster decisions as the Argos begin trimming down to build their 2026 team. The guys discuss notable cuts including Jarret Doege, Spencer Brown, and Josh Donovan, while also looking at which positions remain wide open, and which jobs already appear locked down. The guys also break down Toronto's annual Double Blue Game, discussing what can and can't be learned from an intersquad scrimmage. Which players stood out? Which positions are difficult to evaluate without true game conditions? And which new faces could push their way into meaningful roles this season? Plus, the guys get you set for Toronto's preseason opener against Hamilton with early thoughts on what to watch for as the Argos begin their journey toward another Grey Cup run. Ben also gives a shoutout to Football Ontario, Football Canada, and Queen's University for hosting Elite Flag Nationals, and the CFL for getting their logo and branding in front of 750 elite Canadian youth athletes. Training camp is underway. Football is back. And the road to 2026 starts now.

Plus, Gerrad and EW Sr. Editor Joyce Eng share their thoughts on the new (and final) seasons of 'Hacks' and 'Euphoria,' and the loophole to a new rule that could allow Amy Poehler to get a comedy guest actress nomination for hosting 'SNL.' Send a textTHREADSA new 4x4 starts with a bang (and a lot of whimpers) as the gang begins their Season 17 coverage of hacks (i.e., directors for hire) with THREADS (1984), director Mick Jackson's pseudo-documentary but fully anti-nuke made-for-TV movie. Cohost Thomas's pick of directors to launch the season of hacks, Jackson got his start in film with the BBC in the late-60s as an editor. He saw an opportunity in the early 80s to express his anti-nuclear sentiments through a wry documentary in the guise of a consumer report for the BBC's science series Q.E.D. (1982 - 1999) on the efficacy—or inefficacy—of fallout shelters and other measures disseminated by the British government for civilian response to a nuclear attack. Jackson sought a use for excess material on the horrors of a nuclear attack, including a chance to popularize a then little-known theory of nuclear winter. When the U.S. television film The Day After (1983) screwed the pooch with its competency of officials and heroic hopefulness (in Jackson's estimation), he recommitted to his dark vision and the meaning behind the slogan that “No one wins a nuclear war” with Threads. Made during the highest Cold War tensions since the Cuba Missile Crisis, Jackson's film shows the thin weave of society unraveling after the British city of Sheffield is nuked as a result of the U.S. and U.S.S.R. in a battle over Iran, developments simmering in the background over radio and preparative actions by the local government during its first 45 minutes. While a range of characters will be killed immediately or die slowly, the central focus of the story is Ruth, a young woman who becomes pregnant by her boyfriend, later fiancé, whom she'll become estranged from after the blast. Ruth, unlike most, will survive afterwards for over a decade, migrating, scavenging, subsistence farming, selling her body, and trading with the sorry survivors. Her teenage daughter Jane born into the new, post-apocalyptic world survives Ruth only to herself become pregnant and the horror of what leaves her vaginal cavity is what ends this dark tale. This episode, the Ghost of Maggie Thatcher threatens return; Thomas seethes; Jack puts a cohost on blast (pun intended) for passing notes during recording; Ken talks sidewalk cuisine; and Ryan requests more dance numbers. Next week, through the temporal pincer movement™️ Threads matches with 1997's Volcano, a pairing Ken, feeling his oats, entitles “Ash-to-Ash.” THEME SONG BY: WEIRD A.I.Email: thegoodthepodandtheugly@gmail.comFacebook: https://m.facebook.com/TGTPTUInstagram: https://instagram.com/thegoodthepodandtheugly?igshid=um92md09kjg0Bluesky: @goodpodugly.bsky.socialYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6mI2plrgJu-TB95bbJCW-gLetterboxd (follow us!):Podcast: goodpoduglyKen: Ken KoralRyan: Ryan Tobias
Can You Dig it?! #1 Season Premiere by The Management
Frank Hurricane is much more that just a songwriter or spiritual soothsayer; he's a psychedelic pirate manning the ancient waters under the splintered sun's biblical breast. Like some cosmic character from J.M. Barrier's 1904 masterpiece "Peter Pan", Hurricane's artistic approach to life and his work are rare these days, as everything has been melted down into this galactic goop for social media, and the poisonous pull that is has on our senses and judgement of people, places, and things. While we're making sure our posts are boosted and targeting our direct audience, you can find Hurricane riding shotgun on some of the most epic roller coasters across America as we take a much-needed spiritual journey with the musician and the colorfully capticating universe of atmospheric adrenaline he has created for an audience that he calls "Shrymps". His latest effort, "Southern Shrymp (In the Big City), which is set for release later this month on the Half Moon Bay, CA-based label Nudie Records, tells a tale of a young man on a quest in search of holy harmonies, exquisite experiences, and the songbook for spiritual survival in a world filled with chaos, and endless existentialism.

We're talking all about Survivor's 50th Season Premiere because I got invited to be a part of a Q&A panel for the show tonight with former stars of Survivor! Guess being on Fox's The Floor finally paid off, eh? Huge thanks to Matt Bischoff and Little Miami Brewing for putting this together. I brought in Lucky, as he's the biggest Survivor fan that I know; we talked about the show, we talked a little strategy, but we REALLY talked about all kinds of fun international fruits that we tried here. Turns out, we should learn a little more about picking ripe fruit before the show starts! Along the way, we get off on some delightful tangents leading into me giving one of my classic passionate speeches about media criticism framed around great games and movies like Red Dead Redemption 2, and the original Ninja Turtles franchise. I can't stop looking at my dog Morison, who is a DEAD RINGER for Master Splinter, and saying "All fathers care for their sons." Anyway, it's another fun one from us, it's silly, and we tried a lot of fruit. "This is the wettest the podcast has ever been, and you can quote me on that" - Mark Borison
HISTORY This Week will return with new episodes this Monday, February 16th, with a story about the most vital train tunnels in the United States. The North River Tunnels—their formal name—connect New Jersey to Penn Station in New York City, carrying 200,000 passengers every day. These tunnels underneath the Hudson are now over 115 years old, and are in desperate need of repair. The tunnel rehabilitation effort will be the largest infrastructure project in the country. It's just getting underway, but now, the funding has been tied up in a political battle between the Trump Administration, Amtrak, and the states of New York and New Jersey. The stakes could not be higher. If these tunnels were to fail, up to 20% of U.S. GDP could be at risk. In this episode, we will unpack just how difficult it was to dig these tunnels in the first place. One man, Pennsylvania Railroad President Alexander Cassatt, was determined to build this critical rail connection, ultimately linking the entire Eastern Seaboard via train for the first time, using engineering methods that had never been tried before. If he failed, his corporation—the largest in the world at the time—would have been doomed.

In this podcast episode, Shannon Hill, Nissa Van Etten, and Jordan Fries interview Thomas Frazier about outcome measurement in behavioral intervention services. Using Frazier and colleagues' work on adaptive social communication measurement as a foundation, the discussion explores why many legacy assessments were not designed for the ABA context or for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. The presenters distinguish between moment-to-moment ABA data collection and periodic outcome assessment, highlighting how periodic measures support long-term progress tracking, clinical decision-making, and accountability to funders. The episode emphasizes the complementary roles of norm-referenced and skill-based assessments, discusses constraints such as limited assessment authorizations, and underscores the importance of monitoring client and family quality of life. Ethical considerations related to caregiver-report measures, interpretation of sensitive results, and appropriate referrals are also addressed. Welcome to the 2026 Season Premiere of the Latino Vote Podcast! And what a long year it has already been.Chuck Rocha and Mike Madrid return from the holiday break with heavy hearts as they tackle a tumultuous start to 2026. Our hosts dissect the fatal ICE shooting of Renee Good in Minnesota, Trump's intervention in Venezuela, and what these events signal about America's shift toward authoritarianism both at home and abroad.Drawing on Chuck's recent travels in Africa and reflections on history, genocide, faith, and humanity, the conversation explores how fear is weaponized, how power is exercised, and why the rule of law feels increasingly fragile. Mike connects the dots between global instability, domestic policy, and the political consequences already reshaping Latino communities—especially as primaries approach in Texas and beyond. But this isn't just doom and gloom. Send us a textWhat if the drive that fuels your success is actually a survival mechanism in disguise? In this explosive Season Premiere of the Self Reflection Podcast, host Lira Ndifon is joined by Cassandra McClure—celebrity makeup artist, agency owner, and founder of Clean Living Magazine. While Cassandra has built a multi-million dollar empire, her journey to the top wasn't just about grit; it was a prolonged fight-or-flight response to deep-seated childhood trauma. In a raw and unfiltered conversation, Cassandra peels back the layers of the "hustle culture" myth. She discusses the heartbreaking but necessary decision to go no-contact with family members to protect her peace and how she finally learned to stop running and start living. But the healing didn't stop at the mind. Cassandra reveals the terrifying health crisis—including partial vision loss and severe autoimmune reactions—that forced her to audit her life physically. Discover the dark truth about the beauty industry, the hidden dangers of "fragrance," and how a single epiphany launched the Clean Living movement that is now reshaping the Bay Area and beyond. In this episode, you will learn:The Trauma-Success Link: How to identify if your work ethic is healthy ambition or unhealed trauma. The "Clean" Revolution: Why your beauty products might be the silent cause of your chronic fatigue and allergies.Strategic Boundaries: How to set firm limits with toxic family members without guilt.2026 Vision: How to position your business for major economic events (like the Super Bowl!) and build a network that supports your growth.Whether you are an entrepreneur on the brink of burnout or someone seeking to detoxify your life from the inside out, this episode is your permission slip to slow down, heal, and succeed on your own terms.Questions to Ask Yourself After This Episode:Am I working hard to build a future, or to escape my past?Who am I when I am not producing or achieving? Is my environment making me sick?

Send us a textLITTLE ODESSA (1994) A new season (Season 16) in a new year (2026 CE), and The Good, The Pod, and The Ugly returns to its roots with its unpatented temporal pincer movement covering the directorial filmography of American auteur James Gray. And in keeping with this homecoming, we begin our Touch of Gray Season with the Gen X filmmaker's first feature endeavor LITTLE ODESSA (1994). Made at the unripened age of twenty-three after being recruited out of USC film school, Gray's inaugural film is a mixture of the highly personal (reflecting his own mother's terminal brain cancer, father's temper, and family's Slavic Jewish émigré origins) with trappings of the crime genre (hitman with ice cold blood in his veins returns to the one place he promised never to return, viz. New York City, i.e. Brooklyn's Brighton Beach a.k.a. Little Odessa), each and together building to a profoundly unhappy ending. Thanks to Brit producer Paul Webster who recruited Gray for this first film, Gray was able to bring on Tim Roth fresh from his acclaimed performance in Reservoir Dogs who was able to attract Edward Furlong, Vanessa Redgrave, Maximilian Schell, and Moira Kelly. Gray and team worked around losing a week to a record-setting blizzard in NYC, some days with only four hours to shoot, to create this two-hander crime+family (but not “crime family”) drama with the dominant hand played by Roth as the older brother hitman and other hand by Furlong as the younger brother under his father's thumb and regularly truant from school. Redgrave and Schell play their parents. Kelly, two years removed from The Cutting Edge and Fire Walk with Me, plays Roth's love interest. And fewer of these characters will be alive by the end of this film than you might expect outside of a Greek tragedy. This week, additional research by Ken who watched the film within the film (Vengeance Valley, 1951), Ryan who explored Jewish funeral rites, and Thomas who on mic clarifies the actual size of Little Odessa. Oh, and in a callback to the preceding Season 15, there are some satisfyingly strong squibs.THEME SONG BY: WEIRD A.I.Email: thegoodthepodandtheugly@gmail.comFacebook: https://m.facebook.com/TGTPTUInstagram: https://instagram.com/thegoodthepodandtheugly?igshid=um92md09kjg0Bluesky: @goodpodugly.bsky.socialYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6mI2plrgJu-TB95bbJCW-gLetterboxd (follow us!):Podcast: goodpoduglyKen: Ken KoralRyan: Ryan Tobias
