The Coolness Chronicles® with Ryan Luis Rodriguez

For our eighteenth episode, we finish chronicling Sam Raimi's “Evil Dead” trilogy with an installment that can definitely be described as the third chapter, 1993's “Army of Darkness”. Just in time for its 30th anniversary, travel back to the Middle Ages with the lunkheaded chainsaw-limbed savior of humanity Ashley J. Williams. It's a tale that involves unjustly issued NC-17 ratings, aborted attempts to adapt “The Shadow”, Marvel comics crossovers, and even the “Star Wars” card game (trust me, it will make more sense in the episode), as told by Raimi, star Bruce Campbell, and Raimi's co-writer/brother Ivan.Ryan's Recommendations: “The Day the Earth Stood Still” (1951), “Ash vs. Evil Dead” (2015-2017), and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (2022)For exclusive bonus content and early releases of every episode, join our Patreon and become an Official Minder: http://www.patreon.com/onetrackmindpodcastTheme Music by: Bildschirm (bildschirm.bandcamp.com). The Only Horror Movie Podcast with Nick and Joe

Joe makes Nick watch The Evil Dead from 1981! Blood splatters and body parts fly in Sam Raimi's notorious 1981 directorial debut! The Evil Dead is considered to be one of the great splatter films of the 80s, with so much graphic violence and gore that it was placed on the Video Nasty list and banned in the UK and banned many other countries (until this day). Released in the US with an X Rating, the film established the careers of both writer-director Sam Raimi and actor Bruce Campbell as Ashley J Williams, one of the few heroes to become iconic in the horror genre Sourceshttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Evil_Deadhttps://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083907/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

On the podcast this week, Steven and Sean are bringing the band back together again and it is glorious. We’ve got a special guest coming along this film journey with us today. It’s the one and only Greg Dengler! It’s a good thing he’s here with us because we’ve got a legion of Deadites to smite back into the netherworld in the Sam Raimi film from 1992, Army of Darkness. Don’t you just hate it when you narrowly escape from murderous demons who want to do what they do best only to find yourself sucked way back in time when you have to destroy an army of… murderous demons who want you dead? Mondays, am I right? If your name is Ash, then you’re probably well acquainted with that unfortunate conundrum. Dude just wanted to spend some sexy time with his special lady friend out in a spooky cabin in the woods and this is what he’s got to deal with? Can’t the dude ever catch a break? Oh, he’s got to find an ancient evil book, bound in human skin and written in blood, and deftly perform a deceptively tough ritual with it to send all the baddies back to hell where they belong? Anything else you want this poor, beleaguered man to do? He’s totally up to the task, though. I mean, the dude (momentarily) has a chainsaw for an arm. If anyone can squash the minions of darkness, it’s a guy with logging gear strapped onto him. We had a wonderful time watching this one with Greg. His deep knowledge of filmmaking and cult movies makes for a fascinating conversation about one of Sam Raimi’s earlier works. We loved watching a filmmaker like Raimi really come into his own with this film. His storytelling and production confidence are on full display here. It’s no wonder that he’s become one of the most respected directors working today. If you’re looking for a spooky good time, and a stellar B-movie, then you’ve come to the right place. Just be sure not to forget your boom stick. Episode 168 - Drunk By Dawn - An Ash VS Evil Dead Retrospective Pt. 1 To tell you the truth, we here at The Buzzed Kill Podcast aren't too concerned with everything that's going on in the world right now. Climate change, political division, war, The Bachelor Season 24. The reason we're not concerned is because unlike most people of the world, who seem to think that these problems are manmade, we know that they are actually the work of pure, otherworldly evil. An evil so powerful that there is only one who can vanquish it for good. We have faith that our savior will descend upon this malevolent force, and restore balance to our world once and for all. And on that day, trembling in shadow of the great liberator, evil shall know the name Ashley J. Williams. Wow, we hope you're as excited for that day as we are. In the mean time, grab some Evil Dead Red from AleSmith Brewing Company, and join us as we discuss the first season of Ash vs. Evil Dead. Cheers! Follow us!
