UPDATE: When we first covered Robert Eugene Brashers back in April 2025, we never imagined he'd be tied to one of Texas's most infamous crimes: the 1991 Austin Yogurt Shop Murders. Now, advanced DNA testing has confirmed his link to the horrific killings that haunted Austin for more than three decades. On December 6, 1991, four teenage girls, Jennifer and Sarah Harbison, Eliza Thomas, and Amy Ayers, were found bound, gagged, and shot inside an I Can't Believe It's Yogurt! shop that had been set on fire. The case became one of Texas's deepest mysteries, spawning thousands of leads, false confessions, and the wrongful convictions of two young men later cleared by DNA evidence. In Austin, Texas, in 1991, the city was on the verge of becoming the place we know today, a tech hub, a cultural destination. Our team never gave up working this case. For almost 34 years they have worked tirelessly and remained committed to solving this case for the families of Jennifer Harbison, Sarah Harbison, Eliza Thomas, and Amy Ayers, all innocent lives taken senselessly and far too soon. After 34 years, Austin Police have finally identified a suspect in the Yogurt Shop Murders. On December 6, 1991, sisters Jennifer and Sarah Harbison, Eliza Thomas, and Amy Ayers were found murdered inside “I Can't Believe It's Yogurt” on Anderson Lane, a case that shocked the city and haunted investigators for decades.This week, APD announced that Robert Eugene Brashers, a violent offender linked to other crimes across the country, has been connected to the murders through DNA and ballistics. Brashers died by suicide in 1999, but it was his daughter's decision to provide a DNA sample years later that ultimately led to the breakthrough.We'll share the quick rundown of this major update now, with a full deep dive coming in November. On September 29, 2025, authorities had a press conference where they discussed the latest developments in an infamous quadruple murder — the yogurt shop murders — in Austin, Texas. Detective Daniel Jackson of the Austin Police Department mentioned but did not name a 1998 cold case homicide that occurred in Kentucky that they linked to Robert Eugene Brashers.On December 6, 1991, Robert Eugene Brashers is believed to have bound, sexually assaulted, and murdered 17-year-old Jennifer Harbison, 15-year-old Sarah Harbison, 17-year-old Eliza Thomas, and 13-year-old Amy Ayers. Their bodies were found in the burning I Can't Believe It's Yogurt! shop in Austin, Texas. Police also found evidence from a .380 firearm linked to Brashers. Evidence from that same gun also ties into the 1998 Kentucky case.On November 6, 1998, somebody murdered 43-year-old Linda Rutledge. She was killed in her parents' business, the Nixon Hearing Aid Center, shot multiple times. Then the building was set on fire. There are legends and then there are LEGENDS -- and Chicago's Second City comedy troupe is the second kind. This episode we focus on Second City in the 1960s - before they became known as a talent pool for SNL and SCTV! After morphing from the Compass Players improv troupe, Second City became known for finely tuned sketches -- often deriving absurd and hilarious results from a normal setting (or vice versa). And the name itself -- The Second City -- had its own comedy meaning, having been pulled from a series of unflattering articles about Chicago in the New Yorker in 1952. The impact of Second City on the comedy world has been immense with players from Robert Klein to Joan Rivers to Harold Ramis to John and Jim Belushi to Bill and Brian Doyle-Murray gracing the stage over time.
