We look at Asia McClain's letters. Can they be believed? And are they all her own words? And what about the autopsy? Is the lividity consistent with Hae's burial, or is something else going on here? Okay y'all. This is was a VIP Patreon bonus from Jan 2021 but in celebration of Adnan's release and kicking off what HOPEFULLY is Justice for Hae… we wanted to share it. PLEASE NOTE: this is older audio and we are much more candid on patreon, so be warned. This was suppose to be a 20 min bonus episode...sorry you got a thesis. :) January 13, 1999: Hae Min Lee was in school like a normal day, and she didn't show up to pick up her younger cousin from daycare at 3:15p. February 9, 1999 Hae's body was discovered in Leakin Park. February 28, 1999: Adnan Syed is arrested for the murder of Hae Min Lee. Let's break it down. Also, sorry I curse a few times, I am pretty worked up! Disclaimer: All theories discussed are our opinions based on our research. 141 Report: GSAP Rollout at American, PA State Council Conference Safety First. The culture of working safely drives everything we do as a union. Dave Lehive welcomes back Dennis Spencer, District 141 Safety Coordinator at American Airlines to update us about the rollout of the GSAP safety reporting system at American. Asia McClain, a GSAP Advocate from Local 561 in Kansas City, Missouri, joins the conversation to share her views on how the implementation of this important safety program is going and how it has improved safety at her station. Front-line workers have filed over 100 GSAP reports since the program began at American on March 29, 2021. There are 100 safety advocates from the IAM/TWU Association throughout the American Airlines network who have received training on GSAP protocols. Dennis is still recruiting advocates and conducting training sessions to make sure there is a trained GSAP advocate at every airport. Asia praised the program as an opportunity for workers to voice safety concerns and how it prevents managers from “shutting you down and not listening.” Having the FAA and neutral parties reviewing problems at ERC meetings has already improved the safety culture at Kansas City, and both guests agreed that while there's a lot of work to do, GSAP will improve the safety culture for all members of The Association. “Members need to be informed about this program because it gives them a voice. Problems are looked at from every perspective,” said Asia. “No more sweeping things under the rug.” To learn more about GSAP or to file a report, go to https://www.unionsafe141.org/ In the second part of the video, Dave reports on the in-person gathering of delegates of the Pennsylvania State Council of Machinists for their conference in York this week. They welcomed John Fetterman, Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania Attorney General who spoke about voting rights, and several members of the Pennsylvania congressional delegation, who participated both in-person and virtually. Hasan Solomon, IAMAW National Legislative Director, spoke at the conference about the ongoing fight to protect labor rights and the importance of passing the PRO Act, the most important labor reform legislation in a generation. In his signature style, Brother Solomon reminded everyone that “If you're not at the table, you're on the menu.” IAM District Lodge 141 Report with Host Dave Lehive a communications Coordinator talks to guests every Friday at 2 pm Eastern. If you remember where you were when you listened to the last words of the podcast S-Town, if you still don’t see how Adnan Syed could have murdered Hae Min Lee, as he was in the library talking to Asia McClain, The Improvement Association is for you. From the makers of Serial, this is another juggernaut of podcast production, talent and news gathering, and we will be breaking it down today. Teresa Strasser and Gina Grad bring you Easy Listening, a podcast about podcasts. Welcome to the show.
In the 23rd episode of this podcast, Attorney Rosensweig discusses the recent petition that was filed in the Supreme Court by Adnan Syed's attorneys. In that petition, Syed's lawyers are pressing for him to get a new trial based upon the argument that his 6th amendment right to effective assistance of counsel was violated when his attorney failed to call an alibi witness who could confirm that Adnan Syed was at the library during the exact 20 minute window in which the prosecution was claiming he murdered his ex-girlfriend in a Best Buy parking lot. Did the Maryland Court of Appeals get it wrong when they decided Syed was not prejudiced by his lawyer failing to present this key witness at trial? Could the Maryland Court of Appeals ignore the well-established standard of evaluating prejudice and deny Syed the right to a new trial by coming up with this hypothetical that a jury might have ignored the prosecution's timeline and convicted Syed anyway? Ms. Rosensweig discusses all of this and more in this episode and ultimately gives her opinion as to whether or not she believes Syed's attorneys have adequately shown that Syed was prejudiced and deserves another day in Court.

E66 – Serial podcast witness human Asia McClain Chapman (better known as Asia McClain) was the sole alibi for Adnan Syed’s defense in the murder trial of Hae Min Lee. The State of Maryland got its bite at the apple, asking a three judge panel to reinstate Adnan Syed's conviction. The hour-long hearing dove more into Asia McClain and not-so-much into fax cover sheets. What's next for the "Serial" season one subject? We also talk about the latest epic filing in the Steven Avery case. Will "brain fingerprinting" save the day for the man at the middle of Making a Murderer? And what's up with Brendan Dassey's case? Did we forget to mention the CRAZIEST thing that came out of "The Keepers"? Like a particular body part wrapped in newspaper and thrown on the table during the interrogation of a priest? We're backing the train up so we can unwrap (sorry) that one. The Crime Writers spend more than 74 seconds discussing the podcast "74 Seconds" from Minnesota Public Radio. This look at the fatal shooting of a motorist by a cop (live-streamed on Facebook) tackles the familiar themes of race, violence, and law enforcement training. With some episodes exploring the back story of the players in the shooting - and other episodes providing real-time updates from the court house - 74 Seconds feels like two separate podcasts. Hello and welcome to The Rob Burgess Show. I am, of course, your host, Rob Burgess. On this, our 55th episode, our guest is Asia McClain Chapman. Asia McClain Chapman will be familiar to fans of the first season of the “Serial” podcast. If you haven't listened to that yet, you should probably listen to it before you hear this episode. It will make a lot more sense. Last year, she released her book, “Confessions of a Serial Alibi,” which tells the story of her journey from ordinary library patron to a key alibi witness for Adnan Syed. In the book, McClain discusses everything from her memories of Woodlawn High School, to her conversations with several key individuals such as Adnan Syed, Rabia Chaudry, Justin Brown, Gary Proctor and former state's prosecutor Kevin Urick. Asia McClain Chapman was born on June 26, 1981, in Inglewood, California. Her parents, Carl and Michele McClain, were separated in 1986 resulting in her relocation to Baltimore, Maryland. After growing up in the Baltimore County school system, Asia graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1999 and proceeded to college. In search of a fresh start Asia made the decision to drive across the country in 2005. After several years of living in Portland, Oregon, and working full-time as a personal assistant, Asia met her now-husband Phillip Chapman in 2008. The couple married in 2009 and they are now the proud parents of three rambunctious little boys, Lucas, Alexander and Ethan Chapman. Located in Spokane, Washington, Asia spends her days as a stay-at-home mother, board secretary of Solutions Automation and small business owner of Diamond Concepts. In addition to her commitment to her businesses, Asia enjoys web-designing, writing, cooking, gardening and working with her hands in addition to participating in events with her local MOMS Club chapter and church.
