Lindsay Clancy's last voluntary act before her three children died was checking herself into a psychiatric hospital on New Year's Eve. The complaint filed against her providers says she waited three days for a doctor who never came, was discharged with a clear bill, and went home to a house full of children and prescriptions and no diagnosis.Wrapped around four clips from ADA Shanan Buckingham's opening statement at Plymouth Superior Court, this breakdown goes through the state's case as she presented it to twelve women and six men.The premeditation argument runs on timing — a restaurant five miles out, a pharmacy stop, a fourteen-second phone call. Underneath it is the premise that organization proves sanity. The research on postpartum psychosis says close to the reverse, and this episode puts the claim against what the literature actually documents about command hallucinations and functioning during psychosis. The Massachusetts legal standard gets covered in full — the two-door test most coverage is misstating, and the burden that stays with the prosecution on both. Then the provider record from the civil complaints, line by line against the state's characterization. A woman the prosecution says manipulated her doctors and a husband who testified she begged them for help. And a final appointment the day before that the state's opening never goes near.END_LINKSJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Editor, director, and producer Whit Conway explains how the Hulu comedy Never Change! was assembled on an unusually compressed post-production schedule. He discusses cutting scenes while production was still underway, building an organized Adobe Premiere Pro workflow, using searchable transcripts to locate alternate performances, and collaborating with director and co-editor Marty Schousboe. Conway also shares how constant iteration shapes comedy, why editors cannot become precious about an early cut, and how aspiring comedy filmmakers can create the work they want to be hired to make. In this episode, No Film School's GG Hawkins and guest Whit Conway discuss... How Whit's previous collaborations with director Marty Schousboe led to Never Change! Why the film's budget and delivery schedule required editing to begin during production Completing an initial assembly within a week of production wrapping Applying lessons from the fast-paced editorial workflows of Saturday Night Live and Joe Pera Talks With You Organizing footage into scene sequences and line-by-line collections of every performance How front-loading editorial organization saves time when producers request alternate takes Treating the first cut as a strong starting point rather than a version that must be protected Adjusting individual jokes by only a few frames and testing different reaction shots Preserving previous versions of scenes without formally tracking every editorial change Recognizing when a joke needs more work versus when the filmmakers have simply watched it too many times Using Premiere Pro's searchable speech-to-text transcripts to find improvised lines and specific takes Collaborating with directors who edit and directors who communicate their ideas conceptually Why strong directors know what they want while remaining open to better ideas from collaborators Managing creative disagreements, competing producer notes, and compressed deadlines How walks and time away from the edit room can help collaborators reset Why budget limitations ultimately determine when the filmmakers must put their pencils down Building a comedy-editing career by making long-form work, studying classic comedies, and creating projects with friends Treating unpaid personal projects as “extra credit” that can lead to new professional opportunities Memorable Quotes: “It is just my job to put the first version of the moment together as fast as I can and also be tickled by it.” “I think great directors do a couple of things. One, I think they know what they want. They know what the moment should be. Two, they are open and willing to see other versions of that moment.” “I think you don't have to have all the answers all the time.” “People understand you and know you through the work that you have done, that they have seen you do.” Guests: Whit Conway Resources: Watch Never Change! on Hulu Whit Conway's Website Adobe Premiere Speech to Text How These SNL Editors Cut an Emmy-Nominated Sketch With 60+ VFX Shots in 2 Days Cutting Comedy: Inside the Edit of Saturday Night Live's 50th Anniversary Field Producing on Last Week Tonight & Tackling Vimeo's EU/UK Problem Find No Film School everywhere: On the Web: No Film School Facebook: No Film School on Facebook Twitter: No Film School on Twitter YouTube: No Film School on YouTube Instagram: No Film School on Instagram

Based in London, Clare spent over two years recovering from post-concussion syndrome following a fall in June 2023. During her recovery journey, she discovered the profound impact of nutrition, lifestyle interventions, and nervous system regulation on brain health. Now she runs the Post-Concussion Wellbeing Course, a group program supporting people through post-concussion recovery using a holistic approach alongside any clinical care they may be receiving. Clare describes her experience as "a gift wrapped in suffering" and is passionate about helping others turn their post-concussion struggles into opportunities for becoming more health-filled, self-compassionate, and attuned to their bodies. In this powerful episode, Clare Sharpen shares her three-year journey through post-concussion syndrome, offering hope and practical wisdom for anyone navigating this invisible injury.Clare's concussion occurred when she fainted in a restaurant and fell headfirst down a set of wooden steps. Despite being unconscious for 5-10 minutes, she declined ambulance transport. She saw multiple medical specialists over 10 weeks—including a cardiologist—and not one mentioned the word concussion, instead focusing on her low blood pressure and heart rate. While listening to a podcast about the gut-brain connection, Clare heard the term "brain injury." So many moms feel they must always be gentle, patient, and nurturing. When intense irritability, sudden anger, or rage bubbles up during pregnancy or the postpartum period, it's easy to suffer in silence out of fear of judgment. Dr. Mona and Dr. Ashurina pull back the curtain on why parental rage happens, how to recognize the clinical signs of a flooded nervous system, and why getting help early—before reaching a crisis point—is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family. Here are the key takeaways from this episode: Perinatal Rage is Wrapped in Shame: Many mothers suffer in silence because societal expectations dictate that moms should always be gentle, patient, and nurturing, making it incredibly difficult to admit to feeling intense anger or rage. It Can Start During Pregnancy: Mood shifts and anxiety during the perinatal period are often incorrectly dismissed as "just hormones," but symptoms of depression, anxiety, and rage can actively begin during pregnancy. Depression Doesn't Always Look Like Sadness: Perinatal and postpartum depression can manifest as extreme irritability, hostility, snapping, and yelling over minor incidents rather than just tearfulness or isolation. Driven by Overstimulation and Unmet Needs: Rage is rarely a standalone issue; it is typically a combination of extreme sleep deprivation, sensory burnout, and unmet basic needs like adequate nutrition, rest, or feeling seen and validated. Don't Wait for a Crisis to Get Help: You do not need to be in an absolute crisis to benefit from mental health support; seeking out a therapist early makes navigating care much easier and helps you recover before reaching a breaking point. In this follow-up episode of Zone 7, Sheryl McCollum is joined by retired NYPD detectives Tom Smith and Dan Murphy of Gold Shields to take an investigative look at the unresolved case of Stevie Bates. After revisiting Stevie’s 2012 disappearance and the 2020 discovery of her remains in Glendale, Queens, Sheryl, Tom, and Dan discuss the key questions that remain. They examine why the deleted Facebook messages raise red flags, the legal issues surrounding a squatted property, and why the discovery of Stevie’s remains, wrapped in a blanket and disposed of five feet below ground, points to someone who knew her, knew the area, and likely had help. They also urge anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward and help bring resolution to the case and justice for Stevie. Missed Part One?
