#198 | Midwife Jessy's Unlawful & Undisclosed Breech Home Birth

Down to Birth

Jessy is a  Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) in the state of Utah where breech home birth is against state law.  In her second pregnancy, she made three attempts using gentle version techniques to turn her baby, yet her baby turned back to breech every time. Weighing out the risks of breech vaginal home birth versus cesarean, she opted for home birth but kept her baby's  breech position to herself and off-the-record. She only hinted to her midwife that her baby was being "stubborn." Jessy's intuition told her that forcing her baby to turn around was not the safest choice, which became evident as truth when her baby arrived with a short cord and a velamentous insertion. This inspiring story overcomes many obstacles including threatened early miscarriage, retained placenta, breech birth, a short cord and vaginal prolapse and demonstrates the ultimate power of a mother's intuition. Connect with us on Patreon for our exclusive content.Email Contact@DownToBirthShow.comInstagram @downtobirthshowCall us at 802-GET-DOWN Work with Cynthia: 203-952-7299 HypnoBirthingCT.com Work with Trisha: 734-649-6294 Please remember we don't provide medical advice. Hosted by Ash Kelley and Alaina Urquhart from the hit show Morbid. When 90-year-old Laurence Pilgeram drops dead on the sidewalk outside his condo, you might think that's the end of his story. But, really, it's just the beginning. Because Laurence and others like him have signed up to be frozen and brought back to life in the future. And that belief will pull multiple generations of the Pilgeram family into a cryonics soap opera filled with dead pets, gold coins, grenades, fist fights, mysterious packages, family feuds, Hall of Fame baseball legends, and frozen heads — lots of frozen heads. From Wondery, comes a story about life, death, and what comes next.Follow Frozen Head on Amazon Music or wherever you get your podcasts. For more than three and a half decades, the disappearance of 12-year-old Jonelle Matthews was a mystery – a riddle neither authorities nor her family members could solve. The residents of her cloistered Colorado hometown had scoured every inch of prairie. Jonelle's face had been on milk cartons nationwide. Even the President of the United States had appealed to the public for help. Still, every lead had fizzled. Every person of interest had turned out to be a dead end. Then, in 2019, Jonelle's remains were unearthed near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. With the discovery came a troubling new question: Had the truth been hiding in plain sight the entire time? Was the man who couldn't stop obsessing over Jonelle's disappearance also the person who took her? From Campside Media and Wondery comes season two of SUSPECT. Former CNN reporter Ashley Fantz and executive producers Matthew Shaer and Eric Benson (Suspect, Over My Dead Body) dig into one of the most mind-bending cold cases in modern history, in an attempt to separate fact and fiction, compulsion from guilt, and true-crime fandom from a motive for murder.Hey Prime Members, you can binge all 6 episodes of SUSPECT: Vanished in the Snow ad-free on Amazon Music. Almost all the midterm elections have now been resolved one way or the other, but a notable exception lies in the state of Arizona. Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is currently pushing forward a lawsuit that aims to either have her be declared the winner, or, at the very least, vacate the results and hold a new election. Earlier this month, Lake's legal team filed a 70-page lawsuit against the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors; Stephen Richer, who is the county recorder; Scott Jarrett, the elections co-director; as well as Katie Hobbs, who is, both the secretary of state and the Democratic candidate for governor. ⭕️ Sign up for our NEWSLETTER and stay in touch

This bonus episode features a 2015 interview with Beau Nash. Keep in mind as you're listening that 9 years have passed since the murders. You'll hear some conflicts between details in this interview and his 2006 and 2007 interview. For example, Beau says he was at Becky's house on Saturday night. He was actually there on Friday night. Confirmed by Javier, and also we know that Becky wasn't home on Saturday night. She was working at Denny's that night. These are expected memory fades, after 9 years.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Rabia Chaudry's struggles with weight and body image started when she was just a toddler: she was less than a year old when her family moved to the United States from Pakistan and adopted American penchants for snacking and junk food. As she gained weight throughout her childhood, family members teased her, questioned whether she'd ever marry and gave her the nickname “Fatty Fatty Boom Boom.” We'll talk to Chaudry about her new memoir and how food and family have shaped her, both metaphorically and literally. Guests: Rabia Chaudry, author, "Fatty Fatty Boom Boom." Her first book was "Adnan's Story: The Search for Truth and Justice After Serial" - Chaudry is also an attorney, advocate and host of the podcast "Undisclosed."
