The official announcement of Crows by MCDM Productions, a new dungeon-crawling RPG led by James Introcaso appeared on Patreon. The game uses D6s and D10s, features a health system tied to inventory slots similar to Knave, and determines experience points based on the value of loot collected. It differs from a previous project, Draw Steel, by including potential negative results on the “power roll” but allows unlimited circumstantial bonuses for good planning. Crows also includes a base-building component where players develop their headquarters town and is set in a world where Archmages, corrupted by their magic, disappeared after warring as Necromancers. Undergoblin Heist by Hit Point Press is a hardcover adventure available with six accompanying miniatures. This wild sandbox goblin adventure is compatible with both Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Edition and Dungeon Crawl Classics. The players take on the role of the “Grotty Jacknives,” expert sneak-goblins tasked by Boss Soot to steal three magical artifacts from a cabbage goblin village. The adventure includes pre-generated characters, new species/class rules, a new spell, and a goblin Critical Hits table, and is written by Thom Denick with art and design by Bee Ho. The “Magic: The Gathering’s newest Secret Lair” drop, titled ‘Prints Charming,’ was released on February 2 as a “Chaos Vault” experiment by Wizards of the Coast. The collection is a quartet of green spells with different illustration styles, but its unusual aspect is the variable pricing tiers. Instead of a fixed price, the drop was offered at multiple points, ranging from a low of $9.99 up to $39.99 (and a foil version up to $49.99), ostensibly to test how much fans value the product. Despite the secondary market value of the cards being around $6, the experiment yielded bizarre sales results, with the most expensive $49.99 foil edition selling out earlier than the cheaper $29.99 foil edition, indicating some buyers were voluntarily paying more. The article speculates this could be due to hopes for a secret bonus card, automated bots, or individuals opting for a higher price to leave cheaper options for others. Orcs & Crafts Zine, a Kickstarter project focused on miniature terrain building rather than a game itself. The zine aims to teach the basics of creating miniature worlds, with the first 60-page issue focusing on cardboard foundations and requiring only basic tools like scissors and a hobby knife. The project emphasizes accessibility, creative control, and using everyday materials. It is supported by a team of “Orc assistants” like Crathar (Chief Crafting Officer for advanced tips), Painscar (focused on safety), and Bob (providing basic tips). The zine includes planning guides, technique breakdowns (e.g., wood planks, hills), step-by-step building instructions (e.g., Simple Cardboard Tree, Ruined Gnomish Distillery), and even unique movie recommendations from Martin for background crafting entertainment. #crowsrpg #undergoblin #eeldenring #orcsandcrafts Undergoblin Heist – 5e D&D (Hardcover) – Hit Point Press https://hitpointpress.com/products/under-goblin-heist-5e-d-d-hardcover Orcs and Crafts Zine: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/game-machinery/orcs-crafts-zine Call of Cthulhu Bundle: https://humblebundleinc.sjv.io/Xmz13G Free Guild Ball Starter Set: https://steamforged.com/products/guild-ball-starter-kit Warmachine on MyMiniFactory: https://mmf.io/upturned Mantic Companion App: https://companion.manticgames.com/ Use our Referral code: MCTXEE Support us by Shopping at Miniature Market (afilliate link): https://miniature-market.sjv.io/K0yj7n Support Us by Shopping on DTRPG (afilliate link): https://www.drivethrurpg.com?affiliate_id=2081746 Matt’s DriveThruRPG Publications: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?author=Matthew%20Robinson https://substack.com/@matthewrobinson3 Chris on social media: https://hyvemynd.itch.io/ Jeremy's Links: http://www.abusecartoons.com/ http://www.rcharvey.com Support Us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/upturnedtable Give us a tip on our livestream: https://streamlabs.com/upturnedtabletop/tip Donate or give us a tip on Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/2754JZFW2QZU4 Intro song is “Chips” by KokoroNoMe https://kokoronome.bandcamp.com/
Corvus Belli, the Spanish miniature wargame publisher, is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the industry. Founded in 2001 by three friends, the company began with 15mm scale historical miniatures before launching the 28mm scale ‘Warcrow’ fantasy models in 2002. Their breakthrough came with the 2005 release of the sci-fi skirmish wargame Infinity, which evolved from a modified Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Infinity is notable for its unique rules, including an “active” and “reactive” turn system that keeps both players engaged, a flexible order system, and the use of D20s instead of D6s. The game has since grown through several editions, expansions, and community support like the official Infinity Army web application. Corvus Belli also launched the Infinity Tournament System in 2010 to support competitive play and has continuously pushed the metaplot forward, including the recent Endsong expansion and the new Next Wave faction released in 2025. The company’s expansion has included collaborations like the Infinity tabletop RPG with Modiphius in 2015 and major board games such as Aristeia (2017), Infinity Defiance (2019), and TAG Raid (2021). Atlas Games co-owner John Nephew announced he is removing all of their products from Amazon’s Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) program due to what he describes as “lousy business partner” practices, including bait and switch promotions and inexplicable storage/shipping fees. To minimize waste and ensure the inventory goes to gamers instead of being destroyed, he is offering to send individual FBA items—including board games, card games like Gloom, the Over the Edge RPG, and accessories—for free to any gamer in the USA. Interested parties can email him their mailing address by the end of January 2026. The Dungeons & Dragons crossover with Fortnite, which has resulted in a new series of five fan-made, D&D-themed islands created by community creators Chartis and Teravision Games. These islands range from a PvP arena and co-op boss fight to the largest co-op roguelike in Fortnite history, featuring D&D locations like the Yawning Portal and legendary characters like Klauth the dragon. The article writer expresses skepticism about the marketing value of the crossover, questioning its appeal to non-D&D fans and suggesting the focus should be on this year’s actual D&D rulebook release schedule instead of guest appearances in video games. Lex Ecclesiastica, a free, unofficial Warhammer 40k narrative TTRPG that centers on the all-female Adepta Sororitas, or Sisters of Battle. The game uses the Resistance Toolbox system, which is “built around struggle,” with players juggling core stats like Body, Faith, Authority, Fortune, and Corruption. The game is praised for giving depth to the Sisters of Battle faction, blending the over-the-top violence of the 40k setting with the somber storytelling required for these dogmatic warriors, and it is available for free download on itch.io. The document also mentions a Humble RPG Bundle: So You Wanna Try Out Call of Cthulhu, which offers over 25 books and game aids for the seminal RPG, with proceeds supporting the World Wildlife Fund. #corvusbelli #atlasgames #fortnite #sistersofbattle Lex Ecclesiastica RPG' https://hipolita.itch.io/lex-ecclesiastica Call of Cthulhu Bundle: https://humblebundleinc.sjv.io/Xmz13G Bob's Humble Bundle: https://humblebundleinc.sjv.io/K0roje Free Guild Ball Starter Set: https://steamforged.com/products/guild-ball-starter-kit Warmachine on MyMiniFactory: https://mmf.io/upturned Mantic Companion App: https://companion.manticgames.com/ Use our Referral code: MCTXEE Support us by Shopping at Miniature Market (afilliate link): https://miniature-market.sjv.io/K0yj7n Support Us by Shopping on DTRPG (afilliate link): https://www.drivethrurpg.com?affiliate_id=2081746 Matt’s DriveThruRPG Publications: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?author=Matthew%20Robinson https://substack.com/@matthewrobinson3 Chris on social media: https://hyvemynd.itch.io/ Jeremy's Links: http://www.abusecartoons.com/ http://www.rcharvey.com Support Us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/upturnedtable Give us a tip on our livestream: https://streamlabs.com/upturnedtabletop/tip Donate or give us a tip on Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/2754JZFW2QZU4 Intro song is “Chips” by KokoroNoMe https://kokoronome.bandcamp.com/
In this episode of Wargaming Recon, Peter Bryant takes the helm and is joined by Robert Dunn as a guest host to tackle listener-submitted questions from our Facebook page while our usual host, Jonathan, is on break. We engage in vibrant discussions sparked by questions from contributors like Brian Butler, debating the merits of different dice types, particularly the classic D6 compared to the D10. The conversation shifts to miniature painting tools, where we discuss the advantages of natural versus synthetic brushes, drawing from Robert's experiences as he prepares for an upcoming skirmish game. We reminisce about fond early gaming memories and reflect on the dynamics of player interactions in tabletop settings. Additionally, we explore logistics for wargaming events and share tips for organizing and transporting miniatures effectively. As we conclude, we emphasize the communal spirit of our audience and invite ongoing input for future discussions, promising to continue exploring diverse topics in the gaming world. In this episode of Wargaming Recon, Peter Bryant step in as host alongside Robert Dunn as we navigate through listener-submitted questions gathered from our Facebook page. Jonathan, our usual host, has taken a break, and we make the most of this opportunity to engage with our audience by addressing their curiosities and thoughts about the gaming world. While the question pool isn't vast, we decide to maximize the engagement by discussing each query thoroughly. Our first round of questions comes from frequent contributor Brian Butler, whose inquiries spark lively conversations. We dive deep into the debate of dice types, favoring D6s for their iconic status and versatility, followed by a friendly rivalry between the D6 and D10. Robert shares fond memories of rolling heaps of D6s in early games, asserting the classic familiarity they bring compared to more contemporary dice. We then shift to a more hands-on topic: brushes for miniature painting. With Robert's love for wargaming and painting, we debate the merits of natural versus synthetic brushes. Through our banter, we touch upon personal experiences with painting miniatures, the differences in functionality of brush types, and the inevitable challenge of maintaining them during a creative session. As Robert prepares for an upcoming skirmish game called Moar Blood, he details the excitement of using specialized tools like dry brushes, indicating how they can streamline the painting process for repeated terrain features. Leading up to our next series of questions, Robert initiates discussions on various gaming themes and practices, segueing into a nostalgic reflection on his early gaming experiences. We reminisce about unforgettable moments, from crafting scenes for armies of miniature figures to the thrill of adventuring through beloved games like BattleTech and Car Wars. Here, Robert vividly recounts a particularly creative endeavor in his youth—transforming plastic army figures into a dramatic battle scene after a memorable shooting session. As we continue to engage with listeners' inquiries, we explore varied topics such as player dynamics in tabletop settings, the shifts in gaming popularity over the years, and modern game mechanics that reflect evolving trends in the gaming community. Our discussions touch upon the joys and frustrations of waiting for turns in multi-player games amid interactions with less experienced players, illustrating the balance of patience and enthusiasm that characterizes the gaming culture. We also address intriguing questions regarding logistics and feasibility for wargaming events, including the most effective strategies for transporting materials and miniatures. Robert shares innovative approaches to packaging and organizing gaming gear, which enhances the experience of participating in conventions and gaming sessions. As we wrap up the episode, we look forward to expanding upon these discussions in future installments. With Jonathan's return on the horizon, we encourage listeners to continue submitting their questions and topics of interest. Throughout the episode, our dialogue serves as a reminder of the vibrant community that surrounds us, rooted in shared passions and experiences in the world of wargaming. Stay tuned as we plan to delve into more unique perspectives and insights in upcoming episodes, keeping the spirit of gaming alive and accessible to all. Saul was persuing the internet looking at Steam Punk RPGs and stumbled across Carbon Grey a Diesel Punk RPG by Magnetic Press. It uses a slightly tweaked version of the Classic Star Wars D6 system. Its quick and easy to understand and play. That Star Wars D6 system has always been liked for its playablity and fun. Carbon Grey is set in a alternate world where the 1st Kaiser is saved by a shepard that was struck by a meteorite which gets lodged in his chest and games super powers. The Kaiser makes him his bodyguard. That shepard's children hand super powers though not as powerful as their father. They are all female and are called the Sisters Grey. The KaIser uses the Sisters as shock troops and special forces unit and they kick ass. With the Sisters Grey the Kaiser is able to form an empire that lasts hundred years. Early in the 20th Century some countries revolt and a war ensues. This is the setting for Carbon Grey. It was based on a set of comic books which are now available as graphic novels. Also published by Magnetic Press. Age of Steel also calls itself a Diesel Punk game. Its setting is also around the 1920's in a very Earth like world called Neres. But where Mechs are utilized in much of the world. From mechs that are used to load heavy equipment to mechs made for war. It is also uses a D6 dice pool system but it is unique to this system. You get to throw as many D6s as your attribute and your skill dictates what you need to roll for a success. Seems super simple and easy to understand. As Always Thank You All for Listening. Byron Hatfield's Public House Theatre has been a huge boon to the Chicago comedy community, and we're stoked to have a chat with Byron this week. In true nerd fashion, though, Byron lets the dice do the talking as we roll D6s to determine our topic from a list generated by Mr. Hatfield right before the show. What do we cover? Well, we can't take all the fun out of the journey, but be ready to hear about proud achievements, major frustrations, and, appropriately, a little more D&D.
It’s time to get a set of D6s ready to navigate your way through a show made up of some of our favourite new releases and reissues. The show takes its title from a splendid new release by friend of … Continue reading →
