Swarms of mosquitoes trap tourists in their cars and we have the video to prove it… Plus roaches. Airbnb wants to make trips easier by providing an option to order groceries with your rental. Ethan isn’t sold on the idea, but what about Walmart's drone delivery service… SLC is next in line. It turns out that reading for fun is on the decline among preteens… but silent book clubs are becoming more popular among adults. I went to lunch with some friends the other day. They brought along a 91-year-old friend to meet another 91-year-old who had been his classmate. One lives in Monroeville and the other near Demopolis. They meet regularly, usually in Thomasville or Camden, to catch up and reminisce. Both men are still sharp-minded, which they consider a blessing. At their age, many of the people they once knew have died or struggle with memory loss. I thought of a woman who lived up the street from me. Next week, I am in Paris. And I have the privledge to document the session on "Rethinking The WIne Business." Two of the prominent panel members are Paul Mabray and Priscilla Hennekam.  There is a movement in the trade to mix things up a bit; make some changes, move the needle a bit. Paul Mabray is considered the pre-eminent authority of all things digital wine. Platforms, logistics, user-experience and more, all play into the realm of Paul's knowledge base.  I have to tell you, having Paul Mabray on the show was a breath of fresh air—no other way to describe it. He's got this knack for slicing through the clutter and getting to the heart of what's happening in the wine world today. You know me, I love a good anecdote and an insightful thought, and he delivered plenty. Right out of the gate, Paul Mabray hit us with a beautiful metaphor: a glass of wine is a time capsule, a space-time machine connecting you to France ten years ago, or some other corner of the world and moment in history. I was hooked! That's what keeps me coming back to these conversations—a guest who sees past the label and into the soul of wine itself. We started the episode in my studio in Monroeville, California, broadcasting all the way to Napa. Paul Mabray—and, yes, for the record, both our names being Paul made the "Paul Squared" jokes inevitable—has worn many hats: club manager, consultant, software innovator, and digital pioneer. I reminisced about the early days of my own family's Wine of the Month Club: carbon paper, binders stuffed with customer cards, and handwritten manifests. He nodded knowingly, recalling his own journey at Niebaum Coppola, and the story about hiring Rob Crumb to write Access for Dummies so they could process wine club memberships in 72 hours instead of weeks! That story, I thought, is the kind of practical innovation the wine business desperately needed. As I listened to Paul Mabray, it occurred to me how much the industry has changed. The old guard—wholesalers, lobbyists—used to make it nearly impossible to ship direct to consumers. Back then, you practically had to sneak into the Wholesalers Association. He reminded me how those lobbying efforts were already fracturing in the mid-2000s, and with COVID, things are accelerating. Consumers are getting what they want, regulations be damned. That's insight you only get from someone who's lived both the analog and digital sides of the game. We also dove into software innovation—my old-school, "clunky but functional" database meets his experience launching e-commerce solutions like Wine Direct back in 2002. He had me laughing with stories of credit card gateways thinking a massive wine club was a puppy mill for stolen cards. The way he explained the evolution from manual systems to omnichannel cloud solutions made me realize: in the wine business, technology is about scaling human connection, not replacing it. A favorite moment in our conversation was when we discussed the fragility of relying on the tasting room model. Fires, earthquakes, and COVID have hammered the point home—it's time to reach consumers in Boston, Austin, Anchorage, wherever they are. It's about connection. That's tough for the "gentleman farmers" who often own wineries now, but it's necessary. Paul Mabray sees the golden age of wine online coming, and I'm inclined to agree. If you want a snapshot of the state and future of wine, these are the conversations to listen to. Technology, branding, regulation, and, of course, the existential experience of sharing a bottle—wine, Paul Mabray reminds us, is a social time capsule. He left me thinking that the business side, the digital side, and the soul of wine are all lining up for a renaissance. And that's a story worth sharing.

Sandusky, Ohio resident Millard Faber was in a wooded area in this region collecting moss and algae to sell to local fish stores. Faber, however, found something else he hadn't planned on finding - an eight-foot-tall Bigfoot creature. The hairy ape-like thing stared at Faber with glowing orange eyes before jumping into the river. Afterward, Faber found large footprints, a claw mark on a tree, and a putrid stench, so he decided to contact law enforcement to investigate. Three days after the incident, five pink-glowing humanoid entities floated into Faber's bedroom at night, apparently angry at the fact that Faber reported the incident to law enforcement. Also, other alleged incidents that involve UFOs, aliens and Bigfoot are discussed, including the famous 1973 Greensburg, Pennsylvania incident.Links/Sources:In 1977, an Ohio man saw Bigfoot. SEASON 4 EPISODE 33: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: From beyond the grave Jeffrey Epstein has accused Trump – and there’s a smoking gun and maybe four of them. The allegations that one of Epstein’s female victims “spent hours at (Epstein’s) house with (Trump)…” that Trump was “that dog that hasn’t barked” and he “has never once been mentioned”… those specific allegations, MADE by Jeffrey Epstein in 2011 and acknowledged by Ghislaine Maxwell minutes later. And now, Trump and his Republicans – especially Speaker of the House Mike Johnson – and his MAGA enablers – and his Fox News propagandists – are complicit in another extraordinary, disgusting cover-up: cover-up of pedophilia, a NEW cover-up - right now - playing out in real time as Trump tries to blackmail Republicans into burying the Epstein FILES. A cover-up, most of all, of Trump’s GUILT. Trump is guilty and Epstein has provided the evidence. And now we turn to the real crisis for Trump. If what the Democrats released yesterday had been the worst thing in the files, Trump could've held a news conference explaining it all away and welcoming full release. Instead he went into full panic and dragged Lauren Boebert into the Situation Room to try to bully her into removing her name from the discharge petition. Didn't work. Now reportedly 100 Republicans in the House will vote for discharge and against Trump and a MAGA lynchpin has declared MAGA is dead. So what is next? What if Trump pardons Maxwell, or commutes her sentence, it will cost him his presidency. Because a pardon or commutation of her would amount to a confession by him. So what MORE is in the Epstein Files? To what lengths will Trump go to stop the release of the files? And when will Trump’s role in the Epstein Crimes, in his past cover-ups of them, in his current cover-up of them, in his cover-up of whatever he is guilty of - when will the true horror of Trump’s guilt become so overwhelming, so disqualifying, that Republicans will have to make the choice between covering up for Trump or saving THEMSELVES? How much time does Trump have left before Epstein destroys him? AND AN UPDATE ON TRUMP'S ACCELERATING DEMENTIA: He wants troops sent to a place that doesn't exist. "The Miracle Mile Shopping Center in Chicago," he wrote. There IS no "Miracle Mile Shopping in Chicago" but there is one in Monroeville, PA, and if Trump wants to send troops into Chicago to protect Monroeville he's further gone than we have ever imagined. B-Block (37:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Some late quotes from the Democratic Quislings Jeanne Shaheen and Dick Durbin, and Independent (from reality) Angus King. Bill Pulte and the 50-year mortgage and the lowered standards for getting one. And America's Sweethearts, Kash Patel and Alexis Wilkins and Alexis is suing three MAGA podcasters and being attacked by Candace Owens. C-Block (49:30) GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK. Brothers Outrun BigfootIn 1976, three brothers—Mike, Harold, and Scott—hiked along Old William Penn Highway, a forested road, to meet girls in Garden City, Monroeville. On their way, they encountered a foul smell, like a dead animal, which unnerved them. After meeting the girls and heading back at midnight, they felt watched. As they walked, something large moved through the forest, paralleling and then approaching them, causing panic. They ran, but the entity kept pace, eventually overtaking them. Mike screamed after seeing a tall, furry creature crouching near the road, watching them. Terrified and in shock, the brothers struggled to reach their car and drove away slowly. Mike described the creature as over six feet tall, covered in fur, and curiously observing them without attacking. The experience left them traumatized, avoiding nighttime hikes and carrying firearms for protection thereafter.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Transcript: Lindsey: Welcome to the Personal Injury Marketing Minute, where we quickly cover the hot topics in the legal marketing world. I'm your host, Lindsey Busfield. Watching the Super Bowl is one of the highlights of my year. While I'm always a little disappointed that the Broncos hardly ever make it to the big game, the commercials never let me down. This has been especially true with a handful of personal injury commercials this year. Maloney-Lyons had a particularly hilarious commercial that aired during the Super Bowl and I'm excited to have David Maloney as our guest today. David: Hey. Thanks for having me, Lindsey. Lindsey: Well, tell us a little bit about yourself, about your practice. David: Well, what's interesting is I had a commercial about what made me decide to become a lawyer to begin with. Which is that when I was 13, I had to read To Kill a Mockingbird for Mrs. Wesselman's English class. And then, that was followed up with us being able to watch it as well. And when I read it, I first started thinking, "Okay. I think this is what I want to do." And then, when I saw it, that solidified it further. And then, I was on... My father had visitation with me. I think it was like over maybe spring break or something and we were driving somewhere on the New York State Thruway. And I had told him that we had read this book and watched this and that I thought that I wanted to be a lawyer. And at that point, he told me that that was what he had always wanted to be. But that my being born kind of changed plans, and so that then bolstered it even more. And so, I decided to become an... I went to law school and I knew I wanted to represent the underdog. And then, you realize criminal law is a little different. And then, you realize also that when you're dealing with personal injury, the victims, since they're going up against big insurance companies, are usually the underdog. So ironically, years later after I'd become an attorney, I did an ad that... Especially being down here in Mobile, Alabama, which is right up the street from Monroeville, which is where the courthouse is that they still have that to Kill a Mockingbird plays every year, because that's where a lot of it was based off of. It resonated to have a commercial that focused on that. Lindsey: Well, and To Kill a Mockingbird, I think most of us read that that freshman year of high school. And Atticus Finch was such a profound character and so meaningful for people on a lot of different levels, both for career aspirations in terms of social justice. And it was one of the first books that I really connected with and it inspired my love of reading. So I love to hear that you say that and that that was part of your journey as well. David: Well, it struck a chord in the idealist in me. Lindsey: Yeah. And I mean, just such a well-written character from a literary perspective....
