Die Gestaltung erinnert bewusst an die frühen Testkarten aus der Entwicklung von Magic und stellt damit eine direkte Verbindung zu den Ursprüngen des Spiels her.Doch bei mir überwiegt die Begeisterung nicht vollständig. Ich sehe das Zeta Set durchaus kritisch und stelle eine grundsätzliche Frage: Wann sind Magic-Karten eigentlich keine Magic-Karten mehr? Was passiert mit der Identität eines Kartenspiels, wenn Karten immer stärker zu Sammlerobjekten, Kunstprojekten und Lifestyle-Produkten werden?Besonders interessant finde ich dabei auch das neue Verkaufsmodell: The Zeta Set ist das erste Secret-Lair-Produkt, das in zufälligen Boostern verkauft wird. Ein Booster enthält sieben Karten und kostet 19,92 US-Dollar – eine bewusste Anspielung auf die Ursprünge von Magic im Jahr 1992.Ich spreche darüber, was ich an der Zusammenarbeit mit MSCHF spannend finde, welche Karten und Designs mir besonders auffallen und wo für mich die Grenzen liegen.
