Nehemiah 8 tells us that as Ezra read the Law of Moses from dawn to midday to the people standing and listening attentively for it was God's Word that was being read and explained with diligence. The people's response in verse 8 was a loud and audible, "Amen, Amen". Ezra urges the people, not to weep but, to rejoice in God's Word as they together share His blessings. Then the chapter says that they kept the Feast of Booths (or Tabernacles) for seven days and then on the 8th day they observe a solemn assembly (Hebrew "holy convocation"). This day is in the Law of Moses only once named - and is known as "Shemini Azaret", or "the day of the righteous" - speaking of eternal life in God's kingdom.Joel 3 tells of the time that will soon come at the time of the end of the kingdom of men. At this time the Lord Jesus Christ will come and set up the kingdom of God on this earth (Revelation 11verses15-19). The great battle of God Almighty is "Armageddon" in Revelation 16verses14-16, - those verses are taken from what we are told in Joel 3. These events were only possible in recent years, because the start of Joel 3 tells us that Israel must be back in their own land with Jerusalem as their capital city. Armageddon will be a time for God's judgments on the nations for their sinfulness and ungodliness and on those nations who that have wrongfully treated His people - Israel. It will be a time for war - a holy war, in fact. The word translated "prepare" in verse 8 means a jihad, or holy war. Verse 10 speaks of a time when the economies of the world are turned from agriculture to war i.e. precisely what we see now. The time that follows will be of peace in the kingdom of Messiah - our Lord Jesus Christ (read Isaiah 2verses1-4; and Micah 4verses1-5). Verse 12 of Joel 3 is where Armageddon is mentioned in the Old Testament. The judgment of the nations is likened to the harvesting of the grain with a scythe (or sickle); it is also compared to the harvesting of the vine and crushing grapes in a winepress.In 2 Thessalonians 3 Paul asks for the believers' prayers that he might be helped to freely teach the gospel without hindrance. From verses 6-15 the Apostle urges the Macedonian faithful to keep working and avoiding idleness. Many had ceased working because they mistakenly thought that the coming of Jesus Christ was so close that they didn't need to work. Idle brothers had to learn to heed the advice contained in this letter. Too many recruiting offers to keep up with in the span of a weekend but the FAMU athletic teams have been working to bring in some new athletes to the Highest of Seven Hills. Some of the offers will get more attention than others while others will get overlooked, but the most important thing that we see is that the staff is reloading. The reloading of athletics talent is huge to the future success of the program. While FAMU was off, other teams in the SWAC continued to hold it down for the conference. How important is it that other teams in the SWAC win games?#FangsUp #FAMU #HBCU #HBCUdigital

In this Week 37 edition of the GMS Weekly Podcast, we cover the latest ship recycling market trends, freight activity, steel prices, and key port updates from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Turkey. This week's theme: Governing Goof-Ups! Global Market Overview Freight activity strengthened as the Baltic Dry Index rose 7.4 percent, with Capesize up 1.0 percent, Panamax 0.4 percent, and Supramax 0.5 percent. Oil prices moved higher, with WTI crude closing at USD 62.74 per barrel. Currency markets weakened: Indian rupee fell to INR 88.28, Pakistani rupee to PKR 284, Bangladeshi taka to BDT 122.02, and Turkish lira to TRY 41.33. Steel plate prices were steady across major recycling hubs: India USD 448 per ton, Pakistan USD 625 per ton, Bangladesh USD 519 per ton. Bangladesh Conditions remain bleak. Political uncertainty and slow Hong Kong Convention approvals continue. Only one 30 K LDT LNG carrier arrived. Recyclers face unsold inventories, and although inflation eased to 8.28 percent, ship recycling activity remains minimal. India Alang saw an influx of more than 155K LDT, including two large 33K LDT LNG carriers and several tankers. Despite this, a record-low rupee and tariff concerns kept buyers cautious. Steel plate prices held at USD 448 per ton and overall sentiment stayed restrained. Pakistan Gadani recorded no arrivals for the second week. Plate prices remained high at USD 625 per ton. Provisional DASRs and slow Hong Kong Convention yard upgrades kept buyers ready but inactive. The Pakistani rupee weakened to PKR 284. Turkey Activity stayed quiet. Red tape remains an issue, the lira slipped to TRY 41.33, and no market sales were reported. Beach Breakdown Freight markets strengthened and steel prices were unchanged. Have you ever walked away from a conversation and thought, "Why did I just say that?" Oh, me too. But thankfully, the Buddha left us plenty of tools to transform even our speech into something sacred. In this episode, we explore an acronym I recently added to my spiritual toolbox, W.A.I.T. — Why Am I Talking? Before we speak, we can pause and ask ourselves this simple question to check our motivation. Are we trying to connect or control? Are we speaking from kindness or merely from habit? The Four Gates of Speech Another powerful filter comes directly from the Buddha. Before we speak, we can ask ourselves if our words pass through these Four Gates: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? Is it the right time? The Downfalls of Speech In the Buddhist teaching on Right Speech, the Buddha identified four types of unskillful speech that cause harm: Lying – intentionally deceiving Divisive speech – creating conflict or turning people against each other Harsh speech – cruel, aggressive, or hurtful words Idle gossip– pointless talk that distracts and wastes energy We can gradually reduce these habits and move toward speech that uplifts, heals, and connects. A Practice You Can Try Today Next time you're about to speak, even just in casual conversation, take a beat and ask: "W.A.I.T — Why am I talking?" You might find there's wisdom in the silence. Or you might find your words come from a more beautiful place, a place of kindness, truth, and intention.
