Corvus Belli, the Spanish miniature wargame publisher, is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the industry. Founded in 2001 by three friends, the company began with 15mm scale historical miniatures before launching the 28mm scale ‘Warcrow’ fantasy models in 2002. Their breakthrough came with the 2005 release of the sci-fi skirmish wargame Infinity, which evolved from a modified Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Infinity is notable for its unique rules, including an “active” and “reactive” turn system that keeps both players engaged, a flexible order system, and the use of D20s instead of D6s. The game has since grown through several editions, expansions, and community support like the official Infinity Army web application. Corvus Belli also launched the Infinity Tournament System in 2010 to support competitive play and has continuously pushed the metaplot forward, including the recent Endsong expansion and the new Next Wave faction released in 2025. The company’s expansion has included collaborations like the Infinity tabletop RPG with Modiphius in 2015 and major board games such as Aristeia (2017), Infinity Defiance (2019), and TAG Raid (2021). Atlas Games co-owner John Nephew announced he is removing all of their products from Amazon’s Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) program due to what he describes as “lousy business partner” practices, including bait and switch promotions and inexplicable storage/shipping fees. To minimize waste and ensure the inventory goes to gamers instead of being destroyed, he is offering to send individual FBA items—including board games, card games like Gloom, the Over the Edge RPG, and accessories—for free to any gamer in the USA. Interested parties can email him their mailing address by the end of January 2026. The Dungeons & Dragons crossover with Fortnite, which has resulted in a new series of five fan-made, D&D-themed islands created by community creators Chartis and Teravision Games. These islands range from a PvP arena and co-op boss fight to the largest co-op roguelike in Fortnite history, featuring D&D locations like the Yawning Portal and legendary characters like Klauth the dragon. The article writer expresses skepticism about the marketing value of the crossover, questioning its appeal to non-D&D fans and suggesting the focus should be on this year’s actual D&D rulebook release schedule instead of guest appearances in video games. Lex Ecclesiastica, a free, unofficial Warhammer 40k narrative TTRPG that centers on the all-female Adepta Sororitas, or Sisters of Battle. The game uses the Resistance Toolbox system, which is “built around struggle,” with players juggling core stats like Body, Faith, Authority, Fortune, and Corruption. The game is praised for giving depth to the Sisters of Battle faction, blending the over-the-top violence of the 40k setting with the somber storytelling required for these dogmatic warriors, and it is available for free download on itch.io. The document also mentions a Humble RPG Bundle: So You Wanna Try Out Call of Cthulhu, which offers over 25 books and game aids for the seminal RPG, with proceeds supporting the World Wildlife Fund. #corvusbelli #atlasgames #fortnite #sistersofbattle Lex Ecclesiastica RPG' https://hipolita.itch.io/lex-ecclesiastica Call of Cthulhu Bundle: https://humblebundleinc.sjv.io/Xmz13G Bob's Humble Bundle: https://humblebundleinc.sjv.io/K0roje Free Guild Ball Starter Set: https://steamforged.com/products/guild-ball-starter-kit Warmachine on MyMiniFactory: https://mmf.io/upturned Mantic Companion App: https://companion.manticgames.com/ Use our Referral code: MCTXEE Support us by Shopping at Miniature Market (afilliate link): https://miniature-market.sjv.io/K0yj7n Support Us by Shopping on DTRPG (afilliate link): https://www.drivethrurpg.com?affiliate_id=2081746 Matt’s DriveThruRPG Publications: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?author=Matthew%20Robinson https://substack.com/@matthewrobinson3 Chris on social media: https://hyvemynd.itch.io/ Jeremy's Links: http://www.abusecartoons.com/ http://www.rcharvey.com Support Us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/upturnedtable Give us a tip on our livestream: https://streamlabs.com/upturnedtabletop/tip Donate or give us a tip on Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/2754JZFW2QZU4 Intro song is “Chips” by KokoroNoMe https://kokoronome.bandcamp.com/

The discussion unpacks how Tomb of Horrors shaped player expectations, influenced dungeon design, and helped define the adversarial relationship between dungeon masters and players in early editions. The episode also explores how Gary Gygax's approach to game balance, storytelling, and player mortality in Tomb of Horrors laid the groundwork for decades of D&D design choices—both embraced and rejected by later generations. In this episode, the RPGBOT.Podcast crew bravely (and foolishly) opens the first rusted gate into Tomb of Horrors, one of the deadliest and most legendary modules in tabletop RPG history. Originally written by Gary Gygax to humble overconfident players and their min-maxed murderhobos, the Tomb has become a rite of passage for generations of adventurers who thought they were smart. They weren't. The hosts dive into the legacy, design philosophy, and gameplay experience of Tomb of Horrors, from its origins in early tournament play to the sadistic joy it brings DMs and the crushing despair it brings players. They analyze why this deathtrap dungeon still matters today, how to survive it (hint: you won't), and what modern lessons GMs can learn from its brutal design. Spoiler alert: There are puzzles. There are traps. There is no mercy. The Origins of the Tomb Written by Gary Gygax in 1975 for tournament play at Origins I. Designed specifically to kill off characters run by smug powergamers. Later published in 1978 as S1: Tomb of Horrors, and updated across editions including 3E, 4E, 5E (Tales from the Yawning Portal), and even in Ready Player One. The Philosophy of Pain Tomb of Horrors isn't about combat—it's about punishing overconfidence. Encourages player skill over character sheet. You can't punch your way through this dungeon. A brutal mix of riddles, false doors, lethal traps, and one very smug demilich. Theater of Brutality Gygax's use of boxed text and riddles set a template for narrative traps. The party isn't just punished physically, but psychologically. “Congratulations, you poked the wrong wall and died instantly.” Puzzle Madness The module requires deep logic puzzles and metagame thinking. Hosts discuss how this creates a blend of escape room and psychological horror more than traditional dungeon crawling. Modern Takeaways How GMs can use elements of the Tomb to design clever traps and tests without just steamrolling players. Emphasizing consequence and caution in modern storytelling. How to prep your players for a game that isn't fair—and was never meant to be. Warning for Players If you're playing in a Tomb of Horrors game and haven't read it: TURN BACK NOW. Next up in the Shape+ series is Lenók. “Your computer, headphones or speakers, listen to them. Words slide onto syllables copying mouth in mumbles. Broadcasting signal, echoing curves from typing, then this mesh sent, edited, processed. And then curves will move around your hair. Determination of unrested humming as if some pop can't hurt,  from what I heard. Just a small interaction in public eye. Just a sketch of a wonder untamed. Days go by, nights won't shut. Come closer.” By combining digital sound design with mutated vocal fragments, Lénok conjures multiple temporalities that are simultaneously haunting and liberating, offering opportunities to consider alternative realities. At the core of her practice is an exploration of sound and embodiment.
