This week in anguish: - Tristan is a one-week season ticket holder. This is definitely not a thing, but he's not letting that stop him from enjoying himself. 1-0, so far! - Ardella is learning Swedish one Aftonbladet interview at a time. Either Dahlin just voiced support for the Petey-Gretzky comparison, or he's got a new whiskey endorsement. - Better Know a Demko with help from the Utica Cometscast. - We make a brief stump speech for the outgoing mayor of Utica, Darren Archibald. - We're paying waaaaay too much for our fourth line, but check our the luxurious fingerfeel of Jay Beagle's intangibles. That sounded sarcastic, but do it. - How did Ardella not know that goal differential was a good predictor of team success? It's a bit more complicated than that. A bit... Thanks for listening! This week in anguish: - Our blood is boiling and our hackles are up, so settle in and see how many recriminations we can cram into the first 25 minutes of this episode. - Anders Nilsson and Darren Archibald are Canucks no more. On a hockey level, this is fine. On a human level, this made us momentarily wobbly. - No one expects the Norwegian Inquisition as Ardella re-examines every significant trade of the Benning era. - We subject our mid-season perceptions of this team to the cruel magnifying glass of, y'know, reality. - Tristan realizes he has never really appreciated Alex Edler as much as he should, so he does for a bit. - "This is a stick-up," says the Dry Cleaning Bandit (!?!) in this week's How Did I Not Know That? Thanks for listening! If you liked the show, tell a friend. You can find us on Twitter as @thisweektristan and @thisweekardella.
Utica Comets Insider with Rain and Scoop, who are joined by Darren Archibald and Play by Play man Joe Roberts on the phone.
Ben Kuzma says the game is more skill and speed then it’s ever been, but still gets the impression the Canucks want and need to add more physicality to their roster, particularly with Elias Pettersson and other kids coming in. Ben isn’t convinced Darren Archibald is the answer, after a so-so season. Kuz suggests a fractured thumb for Pettersson is concerning because Pettersson will miss a key portion of his training.
Jeff Paterson says Nikolay Goldobin showed some creativity and vision in the loss to Colorado, and any good game is a positive step for Goldy. Jeff discusses Darren Archibald’s future with the Canucks, suggesting he has an ally in Travis Green.
Ray Ferraro says this opportunity with the Canucks looks tailor-made for Darren Archibald's skill set, but now he has to take advantage of it
Utica Comets head coach Trent Cull says Darren Archibald has been very good, in a variety of roles, for the Comets and has always played a physical style.Cull says Philip Holm is still working on his defensive game, but is very much a catalyst on the PP.
Jeff Paterson suggests Darren Archibald will get every opportunity to add some edge/physicality to the Canucks, as Travis Green is very familiar with what Archibald can do. Jeff Paterson suggests Darren Archibald will be asked to be the sparkplug that the Canucks have lacked since Derek Dorsett was injured, and says Travis Green is very familiar with what his MVP in Utica last year brings to the table. Jeff suggests it may be time for Jake Virtanen to get another stint in Utica
Utica Comets voice Andy Zilch expects Thatcher Demko to see some time with the Canucks later this season, saying he's already seeing a more confident and mature goalie this season. Andy comments on the play of Darren Archibald, Jordan Subban, Carter Bancks
Ray Ferraro says the Canucks must at least give Jake Virtanen, Brock Boeser the opportunity to show what they can do at the NHL level, and if they have to be sent to the AHL, so be it. But Ray also says if it's between Virtanen and Darren Archibald for the 13th forward, he'd prefer Virtanen to be in Utica
Ray Ferraro says his impression of Jake Virtanen’s ability to play in the NHL is far different than two weeks ago, suggesting Jake has had a very good camp and looks relaxed and composed on the ice. Ray liked what he saw from Andrey Pedan Thursday vs Calgary, suggesting Pedan may bring a size element the Canucks are lacking. Ray also discusses Darren Archibald’s situation

Ray Ferraro says the China trip, and having two groups for the vast majority of camp, has put the Canucks way behind with the season approaching. Ray discusses Darren Archibald and tells a fantastic story about his agent
Mike and Jason talk with TSN 1040's Canucks reporter Jeff Paterson from the Canucks morning practice if Markus Granlund will start the season at center, potential defense pairings for opening night, and if Darren Archibald has a shot to make the Canucks.
TSN 1040's Canucks reporter Jeff Paterson says it's intriguing to him that Darren Archibald is still at training camp when the Canucks signed him to an AHL contract. Paterson says it could be the fact that Travis Green wants to see him play against NHL players as Archibald wasn't on the trip to China, but has impressed in the games in North America.
