Another Friday has landed on your calendar and that means the boys are back with a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio to help make sense of all things Edmonton Oilers. On today's podcast, we're talkin' about the new line combinations, reverse retros, scoring woes, and a whole lot more.Kicking off today's podcast, we got started with a conversation about Mattias Janmark getting bumped up to the first line alongside Connor McDavid as Jay Woodcroft continues to look for the ideal trios. Does it make sense to put Janmark up with Connor or should Woodcroft have left things alone and let the boys try and work through it? From there, we looked at Wednesday's loss to the Los Angeles Kings and how it was incredibly frustrating to see the Oilers look so ineffective on the attack without being able to adjust. We also looked at the Alex Edler knee on Connor McDavid and how the linesman prevented Darnell Nurse from handling the situation right there in the moment. Next up, we previewed tomorrow's game against the Vegas Golden Knights and tried to guess which Edmonton Oilers team will show up. Will we get the team that looks like world beaters or the one that struggles to gain zone entry? Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Jeff and Elliotte start off looking at the role of analytics in Hall of Fame conversations for players who have been passed over, Joe Pavelski's candidacy, and why Steve Larmer should be inducted (01:30). Next, the guys discuss Jake Muzzin's importance to the Maple Leafs even when he's not playing, the recent rise of Timothy Liljegren and Jordie Benn, and if Andrew Brunette could be a candidate for the head coaching position in Vancouver (05:44). To finish up, Jeff and Elliotte chat about the New Jersey Devils' improved decision making, the controversial hit by Alex Edler on Connor McDavid, and why the NHL's stars need to be protected (15:06). The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun joined the OverDrive guys earlier today and got into a number of things including Leafs-Devils, the breakout season for Jack Hughes and why there will be no punishment coming for Alex Edler following his hit on Connor McDavid.
Daniel & Henrik Sedin joined the pod! The twins talked highlights of the Hockey Hall of Fame weekend, reflected on the journey from the Swedish Elite League to being elite in the NHL, spoke on their chemistry with former linemate Alex Burrows, and discussed an NHL'er they always wanted to play with. Plus, ‘Hank and Danny' discuss their current role with the Vancouver Canucks, and the importance of teaching players to use their teammates rather than being too individualistic. In Headlines, the guys talk Alex Edler's questionable hit on Connor McDavid; what McDavid's skill does to defenders and why it should have been a suspendable play. Goaltending is a hot topic as Canucks' Thatcher Demko's numbers rank amongst the league's worst, and the Buffalo Sabres shaky goaltending tandem is considered as part of the reason they've struggled lately. Former NHL goalie Scott Darling's stand-up comedy career takes some heat as Darling ripped into the city of St. Louis. Kris Abbott joined the podcast from Betano's headquarters in Greece. The World Cup is around the corner and Canada's chances of getting out of the group stage were discussed. This week's NFL picks centre around the Vikings and Cowboys as Ray & Dregs are banking on the Cowboys rebounding, and ‘Abbs' has Justin Jefferson following up his ridiculous catch and making an impact on Sunday. We've landed on another Thursday and that means the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a whole lot to talk about as the Oilers enter one of their toughest stretches of hockey of the season. On today's show, the guys looked at the madness that is crypto, streaming services, and a whole more.Kicking off today's podcast, the guys got started with a conversation about Bitcoin after Jay listened to a podcast with the FTX founder where he struggled to describe how cryptocurrency works. That led the guys to discuss the utility of these coins and whether or not they will be mass adopted by folks given the mistrust in the industry right now. Somehow this conversation about Sam Bankman-Fried led to Chalmers following up on Monday's gripe about why he can't watch Yellowstone. Sticking with TV, the guys then spent some time talking about Saturday Night Live and how it takes some time to fall in love with a new cast even though they're all funny and incredibly talented. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the guys dug into the Alex Edler knee on Connor McDavid and how the NHL DoPS felt that it wasn't worthy of any discipline despite the best player on earth getting clipped with a dirty hit. The guys also talked about how frustrating it was to watch the Oilers get silenced as effectively as they were without being able to adjust. They also started to break down the Oilers reverse retro jerseys that made their debut last night but that conversation took a drastic turn before anyone could even get a word in. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The Edmonton Oilers lost narrowly to the LA Kings last night at Rogers Place; however, that is not the story that is making the headline. Oilers star forward Connor McDavid took a knee-on-knee hit from Kings defenceman Alex Edler, who received a two-minute penalty on the player. When Zach Hyman was on the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edler did the same thing, which put Hyman out of the lineup for two months and received a two-game suspension. Despite having a history of this, the NHL player safety department today that the Kings defenceman would not receive more discipline for the collision. Do you agree or disagree with the league's decision? Also, on the show, we will talk about the game itself and what the Oilers did right and wrong. Then, later on, Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff joins us to discuss the hit and some possible defensive upgrades for Edmonton. Head over to The Nation Network on YouTube to watch Oilersnation Everyday with Tyler Yaremchuk. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
