Which players could possibly be moved out to create room? Will they submit a roster short of the 23-player limit? Other topics include the Canucks broadcast release and the hiring of Dave Tomlinson and Ray Ferraro as TV analysts; training camp storylines to watch for; the Caps big game Wednesday vs Houston and how they'll manage the lineup with a busy stretch of road games; and the Lions emerging from their all-time comeback victory over Ottawa, heading into Edmonton. Patrick Johnston joins to tell us about what he saw at the Jake Milford golf tournament that annually kicks off Canucks season. Patrick discusses Ilya Mikheyev, J.T. Ray is back home for a short rest from the NHL on ESPN grind, and Dregs continues his TSN Panel coverage as the guys cover the 2nd Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In Headlines, the guys discuss the Maple Leafs blowing a two-goal lead in a Game 2 loss to the Florida Panthers. Find out why Ray thinks the Panthers were handed a ‘get out of jail free' card, and how the Leafs can prevent more ‘water bottle throwing'.  A rather bittersweet distinction is shared between Joe Pavelski and Leon Draisaitl as they each tallied 4-goals in a loss, the last player to score 4 in a playoff loss was… Ray Ferraro! Ray talks the 4-goal night back in the '93 playoffs, and weighing a personal accomplishment with the team falling short.  The Golden Knights vs. Oilers might be as ‘can't-miss' a playoff series as they come! A goal-filled Game 1, Mark Stone's effect on the Vegas lineup, and Stone's bothersome back injury are discussed as the guys predict a long battle between the Western Conference heavyweights.  Norris Trophy finalists were released this week, the guys compare their votes for the Norris, why they both felt Makar deserved a vote, and the fan-response to their votes.  Kris Abbott joins the show as the Leafs 0-2 deficit shifts their Stanley Cup favourite status, the ever-changing odds to lift Lord Stanley, and Ray explains why road-games have become less of a hill-to-climb. Plus, Draft Lottery odds, the probabilities of the bottom-3 winning, and the potential to bet on an outlier.  In Ask Ray & Dregs Anything, the guys answer YOUR questions every week! Today's episode includes questions on favourite playoff moments, the J.C Tremblay ‘flip' zone entry, and the (near-impossible) likelihood of a team trading the 2023 1st Overall Pick. Plus, how the Seattle Kraken pulled off their improbable victory over the Colorado Avalanche, ‘misfits' making an impact on the sophomore team, and Seattle's chances against Oettinger and the Stars. In Headlines, the guys discuss Game 7 between the Devils and Rangers, Ray explains why Jacob Trouba's MASSIVE hit on Timo Meier was clean, and the possibility of the NHL adopting International head contact rules. Plus, a disappointing end for a star-studded Rangers squad, splashy additions not making a difference, and if major changes are coming to New York. Ray compares the Bruins collapse to his wife Cammi Granato's 2002 USA hockey team's run of dominance that came to an abrupt end; did a lack of ‘adversity' play a factor in the Bruins demise? The firing of Calgary Flames head coach Darryl Sutter, the impact of player exit-meetings, and a disappointing season for the Flames rounds out Headlines. Plus, the '93 Game 7 OT win over Pittsburgh, and playing under Hall of Fame coach Al Arbour: his limiting of post-game beers, and the meaningful impact he had on the three teammates.  In Headlines, Ray & Dregs take a broad look at the most noteworthy stories in the NHL thus far. Boston Bruins' high-flying offence and league-best record are examined. The guys ask is Tage Thompson's torrid pace sustainable, and are the New Jersey Devils for real?? Alberta's goaltending is discussed as both the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames struggle to find consistency with their starters. Ray says it's 'win-now' mode for the Winnipeg Jets as they're amongst the best in the west, despite injury woes. A surging sophomore season for the Seattle Kraken continues to turn heads in the league. Kris Abbott joins the show to talk NHL futures! Are the Leafs worth a look at 11:1 odds to capture their first Stanley Cup since 1967? Individual player awards also present an opportunity for bettors, from the Vezina to the Calder, different candidates could emerge in the NHL's 2nd half.  Season 4 Episode 27 is presented by our title sponsor Canadian Club Whisky: who are asking: 'Are You Over Beer?', Boston Pizza - pick it up or get it delivered right to your door, let Boston Pizza do the cooking tonight, ‘The Game Starts Now' with Betano.ca - now available in Ontario, and by DUER: Use code ‘RND15' to save 15% off pants at DUER.ca.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ray is fresh off of his ‘close-up' after Bruce Arthur's piece on Ray was featured in this week's Toronto Star*. The insightful piece peeled back the curtain on Ray's career, and his decision behind leaving TSN. Ray gets real on his mental health, choosing family, and embracing change. Plus, the guys discuss their World Hockey Championship's culinary post-game ritual: a bucket of fries, and wine.  Headlines kicks off with a ‘hand pass' controversy in the Toronto Maple Leafs/Arizona Coyotes game, and the Coyotes' long run of success… in Toronto. Ray and Dregs talk Sheldon Keefe calling out his star players just three games in, Bruce Boudreau and the Canucks slipping on points they (likely) can't afford to lose, and an abysmal 20 goals against over 3 losses to start the year for the Minnesota Wild. AND, NHL bright spots so far, a rejuvenated Evgeni Malkin, and a brash, young Montreal Canadiens team.  ‘Cha-ching' was all Kris Abbott heard as he cashed in on the Arizona Coyotes being underdogs vs. the Leafs. Ray gloated as his undefeated NFL-picks record remains intact. Meanwhile, Dregs and Kris are left to wonder how Ray is pulling this off!? Ask R+D sees a suggestion on a new podcast segment, a listener asks why Mackenzie Weegar wasn't as highly regarded until now, another asks about the Huberdeau/Tkachuk trade assessment so far, and Ray is asked about his mindfulness practice. *Check out Bruce Arthur's piece on Ray Ferraro in the Toronto Star: https://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/opinion/2022/10/17/why-ray-ferraro-stepped-away-from-tsn-and-his-hockey-obsession.html Season 4 Episode 7 is presented by our title sponsor Canadian Club Whisky: who are asking: 'Are You Over Beer?', Boston Pizza - pick it up or get it delivered right to your door, let Boston Pizza do the cooking tonight, and by DUER: Use code ‘RND15' to save 15% off pants at DUER.ca.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
