Crime Girl Gang is a true crime podcast in which three crime writers examine mysterious cold cases and then ‘solve’ them from a fictional perspective. Crime Girl Gang is hosted by Victoria Selman (author of Blood for Blood, out February 2019), Niki Mackay (author of I, Witness, out now, and The Lies We Tell, out March 2019) and Elle Croft (author of The Guilty Wife and The Other Sister, both out now).  Think Castle meets Serial with a friends on the sofa feel. In Season 1 (airing on Jan 7th) we’ll be examining three different true crime cases from around the world. Then we’ll put on our writers’ hats and have a go at solving them for ourselves. SEASON 1 OF CRIME GIRL GANG TRUE CRIME CASE #1: THE ANGEL IN THE MEADOW (UK) Five years ago, construction workers in Manchester city centre happened upon the remains of a murder victim from the 1970s. Despite a widespread appeal for information, the victim still hasn’t been identified and her killer hasn’t been brought to justice. TRUE CRIME CASE #2: THE MURDER OF BETTY GAIL BROWN (US) Unsolved for 56 years, the murder of university student, Betty Gail Brown is one of the country’s most notorious cold cases. Betty was found in her car after a late night study session, strangled to death with her own bra. But no-one (not even the man who confessed to her murder and was later found not guilty) appears to have had a motive for killing her.  TRUE CRIME CASE #3: THE MYSTERY OF THE SOMERTON MAN (AUSTRALIA) In 1948, a man was found dead on a beach near Adelaide. In his pocket was a scrap of paper torn from a book. On it was the Persian phrase taman shud (meaning ended or finished.) The case attracted intense international attention, not least because of the possible involvement of a secret code at a time of heightening Cold War tensions. Yet despite help over the years from both the FBI and Scotland Yard, the victim has never been identified- and the cause of death has never been conclusively proven.

There Are Other Ways: Conversations About Living Life a Little Differently

In this week's episode I'm chatting with Elle Croft, a social media manager, blogger and published author. I really enjoyed finding out more about her story, about how not going to university propelled her to look for other ways to prove herself, how blogging helped her to write her debut novel, The Guilty Wife, and what the process of writing and having a novel published was actually like.
