Programledare: Martin WicklinProducent: Filip BohmKontakt: sondagsintervjun@sr.se
In a wide ranging interview with NBC's Meet the Press, U.S. President Donald Trump once again repeated his threat of making Canada the 51st state - but ruled out using the military to do so. He also addressed his tariffs, and their blows to his country's economy - and whether he is serious about wanted a third term in the White House. Also: For people in the Netherlands, May 4th is a day to honour the soldiers and civilians killed in the Second World War. And on this Remembrance Day, the Dutch are saluting their Canadian comrades with a gathering today in Holten, where many Canadian soldiers are buried. And: Part of Pope Francis' legacy includes opening some doors for women to have roles in the Catholic church. But the most important doors remain shut. And there are questions about whether the next Pope will give more opportunities for Catholic women to have a seat at the table.Plus: The search for two missing children in Nova Scotia, Israel plans to further expand military operations in Gaza, and more.

The IC Index is a first-of-its-kind research project commissioned by the IoIC that explores the impact of internal communication on internal stakeholders. To mark the launch of the 2024 IC Index, Jen, Dom and Cat welcome Susanna Holten from project partner Ipsos Karian & Box. As research project lead, Susanna has expert insights as to what the data means for the internal communication profession. As this year's report focusses on trust, this podcast conversation explores the criticality of trust for employee advocacy, collaboration, and leadership. Much like the report itself, this episode covers a vast amount of ground. The need for clear and inclusive internal communication has never been more urgent. Not least as organisations must – in so many cases – pivot their business strategies to maintain market relevance, adapt to AI-enabled workplaces and strive to find hybrid work equilibrium. Takeaways Trust is a key driver of employee advocacy, collaboration, and engagement. Empathy from leaders and effective communication from direct managers are crucial for building trust. External events and the employer's stance on socio-cultural and economic issues impact employee trust and engagement. Internal communication plays a vital role in creating a hyper-connected organisation. Communication training for managers and leaders is essential for effective internal communication. Good relationships at work are crucial for employee engagement and customer relationships. Values alignment is important for creating a cohesive and supportive organisational culture. Transparency and radical honesty are key in building trust and improving communication. Internal communicators have the opportunity to drive change and take a stance on important issues. The IC Index provides valuable insights and data for internal communicators to inform their strategies and actions. About Susanna Holten Susanna is a Principal Consultant at Ipsos Karian and Box. Alongside leading a team of internal communication and behaviour change consultants, she's been driving the IK&B internal communication audit offering over the past few years. She supports a broad range of clients in the IC research and strategic advisory space. She leads the work on the annual IC Index report, in close collaboration with the IoIC.

Katie Holten is a visual artist and environmental activist who splits her time between Ireland and New York. She has exhibited at the Venice biennale and many galleries across the globe, with her work being described as “…an ongoing investigation of the inextricable relationship between man and the natural world in the age of the Anthropocene.” Recently she created the internationally best-selling book, “The Language of Trees”.Reclining in a mossy moot deep within the Woodland Trust's Duncliffe Woods, Katie shares with David Oakes how her passion for nature stems from two roots: her mother – a gardener, teacher and floral artist – and her father – a man who led Katie to be enthralled by logic and physics and Feynman. Katie is now an artist who prides herself upon collecting the connected and noticing that from chaos sprouts equilibrium. It is perhaps not unsurprising then that she has devoted her artistic career to creating compendiums of things she feel necessary to share, and devoting her personal life to many of the goals of Extinction Rebellion. Katie Holten is an Irish artist and activist based in New York City whose work is inspired by the relationship between humans and the natural world. She's spent the last several years working on a tree alphabet to translate the world in a way that might connect us more intimately with nature, where each letter corresponds with an indigenous tree species (there's even a downloadable font). Earlier this year, Holten published a gorgeous book called "The Language of Trees: A Rewinding of Literature and Landscape." The book, which includes contributions from people like Winona LaDuke, Camille Dungy, and Ross Gay, is both an offering, a conversation, and a call to action. On this week's episode, we speak with Katie about the ways in which people can rebuild their connection with the land, repairing our broken language through nature and story, the process of creating the language of trees, and the importance of art as a tool for social and political action.Photo courtesy of Katie Holten.Dyed Green is a project of Bog & Thunder, whose mission is to highlight the best of Irish food and culture, through food tours, events, and media. What if there were data to prove the business case for internal communication? What if we could see in fine detail the impact of internal communication on employee experience and engagement? Well, now there is and now we can. In July 2023, the IoIC launched brand new research in partnership with Employee Research and Experience Agency, Karian and Box. The IC Index is the first of its kind analysis of the value internal communication provides to employees across the UK. If you haven't already done so, you can download your copy here. In this bonus episode, Jen, Dom and Cat welcome Susanna Holten, Senior Consultant with Ipsos Karian and Box to discuss the report's findings and explore what this means for the future of internal communication. They unpick the highlights and showcase opportunities for internal communication professionals to add even more value to their organisations.
My guest this episode is artist and activist Katie Holten. Katie has just released a book called The Language of Trees, a collection of literary and scientific works by people like Robin Wall Kimmerer, Ursula le Guin, and Ross Gay. Using her Alphabet of Trees, the book is underpinned by the Katie's art and asks us to examine our relationship with trees by pulling together wide-reaching strands and demonstrating in one place, just how connected we are to them. Dr Ian Bedford's Bug of the Week: Asian Hornets What We Talk About The idea behind the Language of Trees The Tree Alphabet Themes behind the essays Inspiring Tree People About The Language of Trees In this beautifully illustrated collection, artist Katie Holten gifts readers her visual Tree Alphabet and uses it to masterfully translate and illuminate pieces from some of the world's most exciting writers and artists, activists and ecologists. Holten guides us on a journey from prehistoric cave paintings and creation myths to the death of a 3,500 year-old cypress tree, from Tree Clocks in Mongolia and forest fragments in the Amazon to the language of fossil poetry. In doing so, she unearths a new way of seeing the natural beauty that surrounds us and creates an urgent reminder of what could happen if we allow it to slip away. Jesper Holten was born three months prematurely, which caused damage to his retina leading to visual impairment. He's now completely blind. When he's alone and needs help in a hurry, he pulls out his smartphone, and uses a mobile app called Be My Eyes, which connects blind or visually impaired people with sighted volunteers via video call. “I use it on a fairly regular basis, maybe once or twice a week,” he says. “It tends to be in daily situations like when I'm cooking food and want to have a look at tins, especially, at tins and cans with foodstuff can be very hard to ascertain what's in it.” Now, Be My Eyes' mobile app has had an AI-powered upgrade, thanks to OpenAI's new ChatGPT image-to-text generator. Users can send photos via the app to an AI-powered “Virtual Volunteer,” which provides almost instantaneous identification. They can even add follow-up questions, such as “How long should I cook this pasta?” If a user sends a picture of the inside of their refrigerator, the Virtual Volunteer can identify what's in it and also suggest what can be prepared with those ingredients. “I see a potential for people to have more independence,” says Holten, who's been testing an early version of the Virtual Volunteer since March this year. “For some people, it can even be difficult to ask other people for help, but if you ask a machine, it's a machine, so it's there to serve you.” Be My Eyes was launched in 2015 and now claims almost half a million blind and low-vision users, plus 6.4 million sighted volunteers. The app can provide assistance in around 180 different languages. Founder Hans Jørgen Wiberg - who is visually impaired himself - came up with the idea in 2012, when he was trying to find a way to get visual assistance when alone. Jørgen Wiberg says they were approached by OpenAI in early February to help launch the startup's new image-to-text generator. This article was provided by The Associated Press.

Peter Holten Mühlmann founded Trustpilot in 2007. Over the last fourteen years, he has led Trustpilot from a small Danish startup to a global FTSE-250 listed company. Day to day, Peter focuses on business strategy and product development and has overseen Trustpilot's expansion to 800+ employees across six countries. Peter joins me on Tech Talks Daily to talk about the story behind Trustpilot and how they are using techology to remove fake reviews. We talk about a new Consumer Verification tool, an industry first in the world of online reviews. This tool is yet another step in Trustpilot's effort to protect and promote trust online – something that continues to be a struggle, as we've seen with companies like Fashion Nova hiding bad reviews from the public and businesses buying fake reviews. As a result, it's difficult for a shopper to trust what's said online. We also discuss the growing issue of misinformation causing distrust between consumers and businesses and discuss some recent data Trustpilot has uncovered through recent consumer surveys. For example, 84% of Americans say they'd be motivated to prove their identity if it would protect others from misinformation online. We explore how another recent survey about consumer grudges that revealed 66% of Americans aged 45-54 years old are less likely to regret holding a grudge than those aged 25-34 (37%) and 69% of Americans are holding a grudge, while 51% regret holding a grudge.
