Faith like a child is not weak faith, ignorant faith, or blind religious sentiment; it is the right kind of faith because it comes to Christ with empty hands and a dependent heart. When the Lord Jesus said, “Suffer little children to come unto me,” He showed us that the doorway is not pride, performance, intellect, ritual, or religious self-confidence, but simple trust in the One who calls. A child does not negotiate terms, present qualifications, or boast in achievement; a child simply comes because he is invited and because he believes the one calling him is good. That is the beginning of true faith: not confidence in the flesh, but helpless dependence upon the Lord Jesus Christ. But childlike faith does not end with merely coming to Christ; it continues as Christ is formed in the believer and the believer abides in Him until He appears.“But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” Luke 18:16 (KJB)
John is joined by pastors Tim Burgess, Adam Ray, and Kris Johns, to talk about the concept of having childlike faith. Jesus said that, in order to enter the Kingdom, one must become like children in our faith. In this podcast, they break down what that kind of faith is and what it is not, with both poignant illustrations and laughter as always. To learn more about The Tabernacle, visit: https://thetabchurch.com
Today's episode is a conversation about how to have faith like a child!
We continue our series in the Gospel of Luke, one of four eyewitness accounts of Jesus' words and works. In them we learn of his life, death, and resurrection to rescue his people from among the neighborhoods of Seattle and the nations of the world. Today, Jesus reveals that the only way into God's kingdom is with a heart of humble receptivity, like a child's. Audio | Notes | Luke 18:15-17

As we wrap up our series, "Faith like a child" the Timberlake Church Online podcast brings you the story of Abraham and Isaac. This week Cord Doss brings us a message that explores what it looks like to give everything to God and have the faith that He is in charge and will be faithful to us even when we have not been faithful to Him. Often we read the Old Testament stories as mere children's tales... but in truth they are more than that, they are the real-life experiences of men an women who lived and trusted God to deliver them in their time. Thank you for joining us today.
This is the third week of our series, "Faith like a child" and in this series we have been revisiting Old Testament stories often told to children to look for the plan of salvation foreshadowed within. We often think of Old Testament stories as just that... stories... but in truth they are more than that, they are the real-life experiences of men an women who lived and trusted God to deliver them in their time. This week Pastor Brad walks us through the story of Joseph, and we see much more than a multi-colored coat we see God's salvation plan through Jesus laid out in the life of a man who lived in ancient Egypt. We are glad you are with us today.
This week we hear a message from the book of Genesis as we continue our series, "Faith like a child." We often think of Old Testament stories as just that... stories. Often these stories are told to children with cute pictures and a happy tone, but in truth they are more than that, they are the real-life experiences of men an women who lived and trusted God to deliver them in their time. Today we consider the story of Noah as Pastor Brad delivers a message on the meaning of God's salvation plan through Jesus foreshadowed in the harrowing tale of world-wide destruction and God's grace to Noah and his family through the provision of an ark. We are glad you are with us today.
Welcome to the Timberlake Church online podcast. We are so glad you are joining us this week as we start a new series called "Faith like a Child." We are supposed to approach God with a child-like belief that His word is true and we can trust what He says. God has always had a plan to redeem His people from the fallen state that we are in as a result of sin. This week Pastor Brad start us off with a word from Genesis where we see that God's plan has existed from the very beginning.

Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Just like adults, children need the hope of the Gospel. When they come to faith in Jesus, it changes everything for them. Jesus told His disciples in Luke eighteen, "Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, many churches attended a training to learn how to disciple the children of their churches with the Gospel. As practice for the training, they went house to house sharing the Gospel. Children all along the way decided to follow them up to the church where the workshop was being held. In two afternoons, they shared the Gospel to four hundred and eighteen children and adults; and among them, three hundred and fifty-five made professions of Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Many of the parents of the children asked the Sunday school teachers to come back and share with the families as well! To learn how to share your faith, visit sharelife.today.
Simple faith. Child-like faith. We must come to God with this same simplicity and sincerity. Just as a child can have complete faith in the protection and provision of their parents, so we must come to God with such faith. We must completely believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the he alone can save us from our sins.Main Points:1. Let's think for a minute what characteristics little children possess when it comes to faith. They are innocent and sincere. They're eager to learn. They are teachable, humble, trusting, open, simple, and spontaneous. They are unpretentious.2. It's my prayer that as adults, we could develop this assurance in God. As a child has assurance of the love of their parents, couldn't we develop assurance of our Heavenly Father's love? Couldn't we find assurance of our salvation and forgiveness of sins? Could we also obtain assurance of God's care, provision, and protection? Could we lay our head on our pillow at night with assurance in our hearts, knowing that if we passed in the night we have the promise of eternal life?3. We spend our days stressed out, worried, anxious, afraid, frustrated, and even angry. Surely this is not God's will for the lives of his children. Let's come back to simple trust and childlike faith in a God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Today's Scripture Verses:Matthew 18:1-3 - “At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. If you've ever wondered whether someone is “ready” to share their faith—just look at the children in Honduras. These young believers recently completed the second level of evangelism discipleship training in their church, and they're not waiting until they're older to obey God's call. They're boldly sharing the Gospel right now with their friends, their classmates, and even their families! It's a powerful reminder of Proverbs twenty-two verse six: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” You see, when kids love Jesus and are discipled to share His love with others, we see them naturally rise to the challenge. They can't stop sharing with everyone they know. And if they can do it with such faith, courage, and joy...what's stopping us? The truth is, we're all called to share the Gospel! So let's follow their lead. Let's both equip the next generation—and say “yes” ourselves to sharing. For more, visit our website at sharelife.today.
After an unexpected week away, Jake & Graham sit down to talk about an incredible story of God encountering one of Graham's daughters, some of the traditional barriers that keep us from experiencing God in a tangible way, and the relationship between a fear of disappointment and a suboptimal relationship with Jesus. Unlike the stars or sun, God created us with care and intention. Even when we feel “not enough,” the truth is he made each of us uniquely to reflect his image—in kindness, creativity, and how we treat others. Sometimes in life, our faith can feel dull or boring, like losing the ability to taste our favorite foods, but this reminds us to return to the simple, powerful truth that God saves us—past, present, and future. Worship and praise help revive our connection with God, awakening a fresh sense of joy and gratitude even in tough times. No matter what struggles we face, God is always attentive, ready to rescue and transform us, inviting us to actively experience His love and salvation every day. References: “The Bible insists on using sensory language about salvation. It calls us to taste and see that the Lord is good. Not only agree and believe.” - Tim Keller “Salvation is more than the sojourn of souls into heaven. Rather, it is holistic and includes the well-being of body, mind and soul.” - Michael Bird TRANSCRIPT
Main Idea: On the way back from Jerusalem, Mary and Joseph can't find Jesus because he's hanging out at the temple soaking up every word. He's listening with wide eyes no doubt. Later in his ministry we know that he depends on both his knowledge of scripture and his relationship with his father in heaven. Perhaps we need to recover the story seeking of children who always love to listen to stories. God's story is the overarching story of our lives. Scriptures: Luke 2:41-52
May 25 - Boy with Loaves (ok with ordinary) Main Idea: When a crowd was hungry and the disciples were looking for food, a small boy offers up his lunch to share. Jesus blesses it and a miracle ensues. We would do well to have a childlike faith that's willing to share. Piano Story p.165Scriptures: John 6:1-14

There is a difference between child-like faith and immature faith, and today we dive into another parable of Jesus to examine those differences. When Jesus said that a child was the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, he was actually giving us a blueprint of what our faith should look like.
Jesus loves kids! He wants children to know Him personally. Children trust Him completely. Jesus wants us adults to trust Him completely as well. In fact, He said that we cannot enter into His Kingdom unless we have the faith of a child. Our everyday lives should be marked by child-like faith.
In this episode, I share some thoughts on a child's faith. What does childlike faith mean? To me, it means full of wonder, simple, and teachable;I can only speak for myself and my personal experience; however, through the years, I have had many opportunities to interact with little children, observe, and learn that faith, like a child, is pure, uncomplicated, and unwavering. Children naturally trust and believe in the world around them. They are innocent, open, having a sense of wonder. They are free from judgment, skepticism, or suspicion. They have complete trust and confidence in something greater than themselves. from the scriptures, I learn repeatedly to remember to be like a little child, such as: "…submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father." Mosiah 3:19Jesus reminds us to embrace childlike faith, emphasizing its importance in the spiritual journey. In Matthew 18:3-4, Jesus says, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven." I have learned so much from children, and I want to share a few valuable reminders from the Savior's teachings and other traits of a child. I found them helpful to me in continuing my faith journey.1. Being Submissive means being gentle, willing to follow guidance, and accepting direction without resistance.2. Humble means humility, allowing me to recognize my limitations and rely on God. 3. Being a Meek means to remain calm, gentle, quiet, and composed, especially during challenging situations.4. Trusting means believing in God, in His goodness, but also the goodness and honesty of others. It means embracing uncertainty with the assurance that things will work out.5. To Forgive means letting go of anger or resentment toward others and being willing to mend relationships by giving grace and moving forward. Forgiveness brings freedom from the burdens of resentment and bitterness.6. Being full of Love means expressing affection and warmth freely and unconditionally, creating a loving and nurturing atmosphere. Children easily express love and affection, and they accept love and affection so freely. Be willing to be open-minded to new possibilities, see the good, and believe in positive outcomes. Avoid doubts and skepticism.Embrace Wonder as children do by looking at the world around us with awe. Find joy in the simple things and appreciate the beauty in everyday life.Live in the present, embracing every moment. Focus on the present rather than being consumed by past regrets or future anxieties. In closing, I share a song titled "Noc Czerwcowa" (The Night of June)“Great is the human who has not lost his childlike heart.” – Mencius.www.kasiasmusic.comwww.kasiasfaithjourney.comhttps://www.facebook.com/kasiasfaithjourney/

In the Gospels, Jesus shows great affection towards children. In Matthew, he says “unless you turn from your sins and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom.” In her wonderful book, Faith Like a Child, our friend Lacy Borgo writes, “Our first and most natural inclination as children is to connect with God in deeply uniting and often ordinary ways.” In this series, we are asking how have we left these childhood aspects of ourselves behind. And more importantly, how can we get them back so we might once again attach to God with faith like a child? This week, Kirsten Hitchcock gtaught us about the formational role of childlike play. Play ushers us into the freedom of Christ and invites us to be with Jesus. For some additional resources, please visit our website. I've often been captured by a little line in the gospels. The disciples ask a question that has been burning in their hearts and minds, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” We signs of competition among the disciples, each wanting to prove himself the most faithful or the most gifted. They want to know how they can best get to the top in the eyes of Jesus. I don't think they're expecting the answer Jesus gives. He says, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven (Mt 18:3).” Become like little children. What does that look like? How does that work? Why would little children be the greatest in the kingdom of God. To help us with that question and others like, my guest today is Lacy Finn Borgo, and we'll be talking about her latest book, Faith Like a Child: Embracing Our Lives as Children of God. I found our conversation personally helpful, and I'm hopeful you will, too. _________________________________________________________Connect with Alan on LinkedIn or learn more about Unhurried Living programs on their website.
