Share Life Today, in stories from real-life encounters, challenges lay people to learn to share the Gospel every day in an ordinary conversation, to know how to ask great questions, and to testify to the life-changing truth of Jesus Christ.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Today, we're coming to the final day of learning an easy-to-remember, hard-to-forget Gospel presentation. We've been using the five fingers of our hand as our learning aid. Picture the smallest finger on your hand - it's going to represent faith. Grace, Man, God and Christ, Faith. Faith, in a Biblical sense, is the means whereby people make a personal response to the Gospel. Saving faith isn't simply head knowledge about Jesus. Many know about Jesus, but have never experienced saving faith. Saving faith is also not just “temporary faith,” trusting in Jesus for health, safety, finances. Saving faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life, and it's necessary for salvation. In the book of Acts, the apostle Paul was asked, “What must I do to be saved?” His answer was this: “Believe – have faith – in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved…” You can watch a brief video demonstrating the Gospel presentation on our website, where you can find resources to help you share your faith. That's sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Today, we are going to learn an easy-to-remember Gospel presentation. Our pattern to share the Gospel is based on five main words – Grace, Man, God, Christ, and Faith and we are pairing each one with a finger of our hand as a learning aid. Today we'll focus on the fourth word - picture your ring finger and think of the Bridegroom because today's word is CHRIST. Jesus Christ is both God and Man. John's Gospel opens with this emphasis, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” While Jesus had many great accomplishments, there's no doubt about His most important: He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin…and rose from the dead to prove He has purchased a place in Heaven for us. This gift is received by faith. You can visit sharelife.today to view a video demonstrating the Hand Presentation of the Gospel. That's sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. This week, we're learning an easy-to-remember Gospel presentation. And we're using the five fingers of our hand as a learning aid. Today we'll focus on Word #3 – God, and picture your middle finger – the longest, greatest finger representing the greatest being in all the universe which we know to be God. Of the many aspects of God's character, we'll emphasize two: First, God is MERCIFUL and doesn't want to punish us. The Bible tells us that “God is love.” But the same Bible that teaches us that He is love, also teach us that He is JUST and He cannot tolerate our sin. In Exodus 34:7, God says, "By no means will I clear the guilty." This presents a problem. Notice that I did not say God has a problem. The problem is ours. For God's solution to our problem, we'll turn our attention tomorrow to Word #4 – CHRIST. God solved our problem through Jesus Christ! Visit sharelife.today to see this “Hand” Gospel presentation video. That's sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. This week we're learning an easy to remember Gospel presentation. We're using the five fingers of our hand to remember five Gospel words – one each day. Yesterday was GRACE – and we used our thumb pointing toward Heaven to remember that Heaven is free…not earned or deserved. Today, we're using our second finger, our pointer finger for the second word – MAN – meaning the entire human race. The Bible clearly states that man is a sinner and cannot save himself. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” are the words of Romans 3:23. Sin is anything that falls short of God's perfect standard. An action, a word, a thought, an attitude… …and because we are sinners, we cannot save ourselves. But the Gospel is Good News! There is a way to be saved, but it's not man's way…it's God's way. We're in great need of His grace to cover our sins! You can visit sharelife.today and view the Gospel “Hand” presentation video. That's sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. How would you like to learn an easy to remember, hard to forget Gospel presentation? Using the five fingers of your hand, we're going to put one word to each finger. The five words are GRACE, MAN, GOD, CHRIST and FAITH. We'll look at one word for each day this week. Word number one is GRACE – picture your thumb pointing toward Heaven. Grace, heaven, eternal life, is a gift. Romans 6:23 says, “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” And, like any gift, it is not earned or deserved. The Bible tells us that we're saved through faith, not works. What a relief! Every other religion teaches that people must earn their way to Heaven, but not Christianity. Christianity alone proclaims that God's favor and entrance into heaven are absolutely free to us because of Jesus' sacrifice. So, word number one of the Gospel is GRACE. And we need it desperately. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Everyone needs real hope, including today's teens. This was Bryr's testimony that he shared with us on whatsmystory.org: “Before I received eternal salvation, I struggled with anxiety... In Junior High, I'd have anxiety attacks because I felt different. I was smaller than the other boys, and I couldn't understand why—or how—to be happy in my own skin. [...] But God placed amazing people in my life who led me to Christ. Through Him, I found purpose and meaning. I no longer suffer from anxiety. I now see that being different isn't a flaw—it's part of God's design. I've learned how to use the gifts He gave me to share His Word.” Bryr found purpose and meaning through a relationship with Jesus and now shares that with others. So let's disciple the teenagers in our churches to do the same—because you never know who in their lives needs the very same hope only found! For more information, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. When you disciple a teenager to share their faith, you don't just impact one life—you begin a ripple effect. I mean, think about it: one equipped teen can reach dozens of friends. They can disciple those friends the same way they were—by teaching them how to grow in their faith and share the Gospel with others. And then those friends go out and do the same—it's multiplication! But discipleship doesn't happen by accident. It's intentional. It's time spent talking with teens, walking them through resources, having practice conversations with them, and praying through fear. It's reminding teens that sharing the Gospel matters and that others need to hear it. And when they get it, watch out. Because teens don't just talk—they act. They invite. They post. They pray. They go. But they need someone to show them how. And that someone might be you. Who's the teenager in your life that needs to be equipped? Let's not miss this opportunity. For more, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Have you ever heard it said that evangelism is better “caught than taught”? Well, it's true! So when it comes to equipping Christian teenagers, we must actually do what we say we believe. If we're not living lives marked by bold, loving Gospel conversations, why would they? Discipling teens to share their faith begins with showing them how it's done and walking with them as they try it for themselves. And that's why we at EE are so passionate about On-The-Job training, where a trainer shows what having a Gospel conversation is like. And training a teenager to share their faith is about helping them see people the way Jesus does, giving them courage to share the Gospel, and reminding them that the Holy Spirit does the real work. And when teens are discipled, they grow deeper roots and broader reach. They become influencers for Christ in their classrooms, on their sports teams, and communities. If you'd like more information on how to disciple a teenager in evangelism, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. According to Barna research, only 19% of Christian teens say they've personally been discipled in how to share their faith. That's right...less than one in five. And meanwhile, teens are navigating complex cultural conversations every day — conversations about identity, justice, truth — without knowing how to bring Jesus into them. And if we don't disciple them, the world will and already is. Discipling teens to share their faith isn't just a “nice-to-have.” It's essential. And they can absolutely be incredible witnesses for the Kingdom of God. 1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Don't let anyone look down on you because of your youth...” Let's equip the young people of our church, walk with them, answer their questions, and show them how to talk about their faith confidently. If you'd like more information on how to disciple a teenager in evangelism, visit our website at sharelife.today. That's sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Did you know one of the largest mission fields isn't across the ocean—but it's in our own communities and schools? In our high schools, Christian teenagers are surrounded daily by friends and classmates searching for identity, hope, and truth. And yet, many Christian teens feel unprepared to talk about their faith. But how do we disciple our youth to confidently share the Gospel? Well, we need to teach them how to have a Gospel conversation, model for them a life of boldness and compassion through sharing our faith, and help them know why they believe what they believe. Teens are not the Church of tomorrow—they're the Church of today. And if we equip them now in how to tell others about Jesus, we multiply the Gospel's reach exponentially. So let's not wait. Let's raise a generation who can say, “I know Jesus, and I know how to tell my friend about Him too.” If you'd like more information on how to disciple a teenager in evangelism, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Can you think of a time when you put your foot in your mouth? I mean, everyone can recall a moment they wanted to blend in with the wall behind them because of something they said. We're all human—it happens! But we don't want that to happen when we share the Gospel. So today, I'd like to share an icebreaker that may be the easiest way to start a spiritual conversation! So one of the easiest ways to start is by bringing up something you've done recently at church. Sharing with somebody how much you love your church and asking them whether or not they go to church is really simple. And it's an easy follow-up then to say, "Church is important to me because that's where I learned about how I can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Can I tell you about how that's changed my life?" Now, you're going be surprised by how many times you will hear "yes!" People genuinely want to know what's important to us. For more on sharing the Gospel, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. A lot of us have fears when it comes to sharing our faith. For many, it's the thought of saying the wrong thing. If we stumble over our words or something doesn't come out exactly the way we want it, we think that God won't use it. Well, not at all! The Bible shows us time and time again that God can use anyone, even someone who stutters, like Moses, or a long-winded preacher, like Paul! And one of the best ways to break the ice into a spiritual conversation is to simply ask. Asking someone if they've given much thought to spiritual matters, or if they're sure they're going to Heaven one day might be bold, but it gives the other person a chance to really consider their heart condition. Be prayerful about witnessing and trust the Lord to give you the words to speak. He will be faithful to do it! For more tips and resources on how you can be bold in sharing your faith, visit sharelife.today. That's sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. One of the hardest things that we can ever face in life is a close encounter with death. Whether it is ourself or the loss of a loved one, these are life-changing and difficult times. But God can use these very moments to draw us or others to Himself. This is exactly what happened in Barry's life. In college, he met a girl that he admired very much and always wished to meet. Well one day, she was killed in a car accident. Barry was crushed and went to the school's chapel to pray. In that moment, he knew there was something missing in his life but didn't know what it was. Then soon after, he heard the good news of the Gospel, and he put His trust in Christ. Now, he knows for certain that he has eternal life. And that's changed everything. Sharing a testimony like this is a great way start a Gospel conversation with family and friends about the eternal hope found in Jesus. For more ways to share, visit our website at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Let me ask you a question...on a scale from one to ten, how fulfilling would you say your life is? What makes it that number? And would having more of a relationship with God make that number go up or down? These are some really impactful questions we can use when talking with our family and friends about God. They're opportunities for them to share about their lives and their thoughts on having a relationship with Christ. I have to tell you...I've asked these questions a lot. And most of the time, people share with me that they think having more of a relationship with God would actually make their life more fulfilled. And I get to tell them that Jesus Himself said that in John 10:10, "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." The evidence is in my very own life! That certainly happened to me. What a great way to start sharing the Gospel. For more ways that you can start conversation with the Gospel, visit our website at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Have you ever been unsure on how to start sharing the Gospel? Maybe you are ready to talk about spiritual things with the people in your life, but you're just not sure how to bring it up. Well this week, I'd like to share with you some “springboards” that can help you start a spiritual conversation. One of the best ways to begin is by telling our friends how having a relationship with Christ has changed you for the better. We call these “God stories.” And the more we walk with Christ, the more we have these we have to share! Start by telling them something you have seen God do in your life, like a change He's brought about, an answered prayer, or even a restored relationship. End your God story with a statement of confidence that you have concerning Heaven and eternal life. And this will open the door to sharing more! Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. If you've seen someone leave a Gospel tract in a restaurant or hand one to a stranger walking by, have you ever thought, “I wonder if they'll read it?” I'd like to suggest that our first and best response should be to ask the Holy Spirit to compel the person to read it as He did with Philip. Philip was sitting on a park bench talking on his phone when someone walked by and handed him a Gospel tract. The Holy Spirit prompted Philip to open it. So he did, and he read the whole thing. Romans 3:23 jumped off the page, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Philip was convicted, and he repented. Now, it just so happened that he read EE's Do You Know For Sure? tract. Philip has since ordered them and started a tract ministry. For a free online Gospel tract you can use wherever you go plus other resources and tips for sharing your faith, visit our website at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Should we still use tracts for evangelism? As I walked toward the meeting hall at a conference, I saw one of the security guards sitting and reading our “Do You Know For Sure” tract. I went over and asked him, “Do you understand what you're reading?” And he said, “How can I unless someone explains it to me?” Immediately, I thought of the story of the Ethiopian eunuch when he met Philip on the road to Gaza. And just like the Bible story, this security guard listened carefully to the Gospel and gave his heart to Jesus Christ right there. And recently, we held a workshop to teach Christians how to share their faith, which they went out and did that very day! A few days later, a man called to tell us that he had made a decision to put his trust in Jesus through a tract that a team left with him. Tracts can be a great tool for us use to share our faith. For more information on how you can share your faith, visit our website at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. You know, I've heard people say that tracts don't work anymore. They say that they're a thing of the past. Well, don't tell that to Dr. Varga. You see, more than a decade ago, a stranger handed her a tract – one of our tracts, to be precise. The tract prompted her curiosity. She read it, discovered the free gift of eternal life, and trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior! Well, years later, she purchases those tracts a thousand at a time in order to share, in her words, “the beautiful message which she received with as many people as she can.” You know, sometimes we're able to go through the tract with the person we're sharing with, while other times there's only enough time to say, “The message in this booklet changed my life, and I think it can change yours too.” Either way, why not give tract evangelism a try? For a free online Gospel tract you can use wherever you go, visit our website at sharelife.today. That's sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Some people criticize tract evangelism, saying that it's cold, impersonal, or even outdated. But the truth is, it works. Dale and George worshipped at the same church. And following the service, Dale gave George a Gospel tract, thinking that George could use the tract to evangelize. George took it home with him, but instead of sharing it with a friend or a family member, he read it intently. It struck him like a lightning bolt; “I'm not saved!” He read it to his wife, and they knelt and made professions of faith in Christ. Today, George and his wife, Joan, are two bold witnesses for Christ. Dale intended for George to introduce the tract to a friend. Instead, God introduced George and Joan to Jesus. Tracts, in fact, work. So don't hesitate to use them! Don't have any on you? Well, for a free online Gospel tract you can use wherever you go as well as other tools and resources to help you share your faith, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. You know, it's unthinkable. It's February 1975, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. You leave a Gospel tract with a young gas station attendant you come across while you're filling your tank. He takes the tract, shoves you, gives you an earful; and while you're stammering for words, he walks away. Now, if you're someone who likes to hand out Gospel tracts, you've probably never had an experience quite like that, but I'll bet you've still wondered if the people you give these tracts to actually read them or they toss them. Hey, we all have. In fact, some people will argue that Gospel tracts simply don't work. But let's get back to the young gas station attendant. His name is Jeff, and forty years later, he reaches out to us to find the person who gave him that Gospel tract. Through it, he accepted Jesus as His Savior, and his life was forever changed. For a free online Gospel tract you can use wherever you go, visit our website at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Psalm 36:5 tells us, “Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.” And it's so true—God is faithful. And I love telling other people about how faithful He's been to me. Now, it reminds me of the passage in Joshua 4, where the Israelites cross over the Jordan River. When God parted the waters, Joshua commanded one man from each one of the twelve tribes to pick up a stone from the bottom of the river. And on the other side, they piled up these stones up as a monument to God's faithfulness in preparing a way for them through the Jordan. As forgetful people, we need to do the same. We need to inscribe on our hearts the acts of faithfulness that God has done in our lives and boldly share them with others. And you know what? God will use them to open conversation. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. What have you seen God do in your life? Now, the truth is, we all have hundreds of what we like to call “God stories.” These are times you've experienced God moving in your life, like a change that He's brought about, an answered prayer, a restored relationship, or the moment you put your saving faith in Jesus. Now when sharing one of your “God stories” with another person, make the contrast for them. Start with what life was like before the change or before God stepped in. And then, share what God did. End your testimony with something about the confidence that you have concerning Heaven and eternal life. An example would be something like, “The greatest thing of all of this is that I know for sure that if I died today, I'm going to go to Heaven.” This leads very naturally to asking them questions about their own spiritual life and sharing the Gospel with them! Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. In a culture that combats finding what is true and what's a lie, people now more than ever are looking for genuine, authentic relationships. They want to hear the truth. When it comes to sharing our testimonies, it's important to remember to be genuine and vulnerable when telling others our story. God may have you sharing with a Divine Appointment—a person that He has drawn to you to hear your story for a purpose. It could be the very same struggles or hurts that you've faced they're facing now. It could be the very things God has redeemed in your life they're dealing with in their own life. So make sure to ask the Holy Spirit to guide your conversation about what you should share, and be open and truthful with what God has done in your life. Not sure how to share your testimony? Well, visit whatsmystory.org to use our free online testimony builder. You can learn more at our website sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. You know, I meet a lot of Christians who tell me that their story doesn't matter. Now, maybe that's you! Have you ever questioned the significance of your testimony or thought no one would be interested in hearing it? Well, allow me to share a profound truth from Revelation 12:11 with you: “And they overcame [the enemy] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…” You see, your testimony is not just a story but a powerful tool in the hands of God. When Jesus healed the man filled with demons in the Gadarenes, He said, “Go home to your friends and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he has had compassion on you.” We are called to do the same! Often, when people hear about Jesus changing our lives, it leads to an opportunity to share the Gospel. Visit whatsmystory.org to use our free online testimony builder. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. How do we make the connection? Well, when it comes to sharing the most important part of our lives, our relationship with Jesus, how do we naturally and lovingly start a conversation? Well, think about what you like to talk about with your friends. You want to hear about their life! And this is true about your coworkers, your friends, and your family—they want to know about your life, too. You might be surprised at how many of them would love to hear your story about how Jesus has changed your life. And this is why our testimonies are so powerful! God has crafted the human heart to connect with others through sharing experiences. Jesus connected with people the same way—through hearing their stories and then sharing with them about Who He is—the Savior who has come to redeem them. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. What does your day-to-day look like? Do you get on a bus to get to work or carpool? How many trips do you make during your day…to get lunch, to stop at a grocery store, or run an errand? Think about the people you cross paths with in just one day of your life. It reminds me of a story of a man who boarded a bus and met a man carrying a book on Buddhism. That was all he needed to open a spiritual discussion. And by the end of the bus ride, that man heard the Gospel and was extended an invitation to church. And while he didn't make a profession of faith in Christ right then on the bus, we know that God can and will use that kind of conversation in his life. Would you like be this kind of witness too? Well, join us for Go Training Day as we prepare to share our faith between Easter and Pentecost alongside the Go Movement. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Our busy lives operate in community groups, and I'm not talking about Sunday school classes or weekly life groups at church. These community groups are made up of parents, even grandparents gathered at a local youth baseball diamond, the club volleyball tournament, the high school soccer game. We have opportunities to be part of hundreds of different community groups, and it creates an incredible opportunity to talk to people about Jesus at every ball field, recital hall, and dance studio that you visit. It reminds me of Dr. Seuss' book titled, Oh The Places You'll Go…and oh what you'll accomplish for the kingdom of God when you're prepared to share your faith. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. You know, I really believe with all of my heart that sharing the Gospel is the most important task that believers can do. And that's why I love to share my faith. Jesus used the most ordinary things to lead people to Himself. At a well, Jesus spoke of the Water of Life that quenches a deep thirst. To the hungry, He presented Himself as the Bread of Life. To the crippled and the sick, He was the One that could make people whole. We have opportunities all around us to share our faith; and with just a few simple tools, we can not only vocalize the Gospel but develop an alertness of mind and a compassion for the lost. When we look at the New Testament, we see ordinary people, just like you and me, who took it upon themselves to share the Gospel in their everyday lives. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. In a recent study done by Barna Research, half of Generation Z Christians that they surveyed said that they believe “letting your actions speak rather than using words to explain your faith” is evangelism. Fifty percent! Now today, we're going to tackle two important things that we need to know regarding words and actions when it comes to evangelism. First, you cannot share the Gospel with someone by some form of osmosis. Words must be shared. Second, you can't share the Gospel by a simple act of kindness alone. While that act is wonderful, it points no one to Christ. The Bible is clear that the Gospel must be spoken with love, with grace, with winsomeness. With a little discipleship, we can become great, verbal Gospel witnesses and share life today. Join us for Go Training Day as we prepare to share our faith between Easter and Pentecost alongside Go Movement. For more, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Remember, it is the Gospel itself, not our clever answers or power of persuasion that is the “power of God unto salvation.” When you're sharing the Gospel, and you encounter an objection, the goal is to deal with the objection as simply and quickly as possible and then continue with the Gospel. Two keys to remember are first, to research their question and return with an answer: If you don't know the answer to the question, tell them, “That's a great question. Can I do some research and get back to you on that?” And then, continue with the Gospel before making an appointment for a future visit. If you're able to respond to the objection on the spot, well, do so quickly and again get back into sharing the Gospel. With a bit of knowledge, many common objections can be answered right on the spot. Join us for Go Training Day as we prepare to share our faith between Easter and Pentecost alongside the Go Movement. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. “In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, a wondrous beauty I see, for 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died, to pardon and sanctify me.” What a beautiful way George Bennard described the cross of Christ in this famous hymn. This, this is the Good News of the Gospel! In the horrible, painful image of our crucified Savior, there is grace and mercy that we don't deserve—complete forgiveness for all of our wrongs. When we place our trust in Jesus, He takes our sins on Himself and gives us His spotless, perfect life. When God sees us, He sees righteousness. O what a Savior, that while we were yet sinners, Jesus died so that we might be forgiven. And here in a few days, we celebrate that Jesus conquered the grave and stands as our King who triumphs over sin and death. Let's share with others! For help, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. During the very first Easter Week, Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples the night before He was crucified. On this Passover night, He sat with His disciples and gave them a clear picture of what He was about to do through their last meal together. He “took bread, and gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to [His disciples], saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.' In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant of my blood, which is poured out for you.'” We take communion as Christians in remembrance of what Jesus has done through His death and resurrection. The bread represents His body broken, and the wine depicts His blood spilled for the forgiveness of sins. He did it out of love for us! And all we must do to receive forgiveness is to place our trust in Jesus alone. Learn how to share this Good News with others at our website: sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. As we continue walking through Easter together, today I want to look ahead to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. In the Gospels, we see Jesus pray through the night asking God to take the cup of what was to happen from Him. If you or I stood in His shoes—facing the wrath of Almighty God for the sins of the world—we probably would have refused it. But even though Jesus asked His Father, His will was set. He was committed to the cross. But it wasn't easy for Jesus. He felt such sorrow and agony that He told James and John, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.” Jesus knew He would not only die but take the judgment, anger, wrath, and separation from God that we deserved. But He did it willingly. And He did it for us. He died so that all who put their trust in Him alone would be blameless before Almighty God. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. When Jesus came to Jerusalem that first Easter week, He didn't just come to celebrate the Passover…He came to fulfill it! The very first Passover occurred when Moses was trying to free the Israelite slaves from Egypt. Pharaoh had seen God's might and will through nine plagues that had come upon his nation. But Pharaoh, after making false promises, would go back on his word; and God would warn him again. The tenth plague killed every firstborn son except for the ones that had the blood of a lamb without blemish on their door frame. And that blood was the substitute for their sins. And for hundreds of years before, the blood of a spotless lamb was the only temporary substitution for sins. But Jesus…He came to shed the perfect, final, atoning blood on the cross. And all who put their trust in Him alone, God counts as righteous by His substitution. For more about the Gospel and how to share it, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. What a meaningful week we've just started! And walking through Easter with your family, friends, and even strangers can be a wonderful way to share the Gospel with them. Because truly, the Good News of the Gospel happened that very first Easter week and started with Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey. At first glance, that may not seem like much…but truly, this was an amazing and powerful act. Jesus' entry on a donkey claimed His rightful place as their Messiah—the One who came to save His people from their sins. Every Jew there would have known Zechariah's prophecy of the King and the Messiah coming—triumphant and victorious!—on a donkey colt. And that's why they shouted, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” King Jesus came to be the sacrifice for sinful humans. And all who place their trust in Him alone, “He gives the right to become children of God.” For more, visit our website at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. You may have heard Jesus described before as the Good Shepherd, but did you know in the same passage that He says, “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.” So while Jesus is the Good Shepherd and the gate, The Bible describes us as sheep. And it's honestly a good metaphor. Sheep will wander off without much thought as to the danger of being away from the shepherd. And the truth is we all do that kind of wandering away from God in our sin. But the Good Shepherd is chasing after us. You know, the Bible has a beautiful picture…it says, “All we like sheep have gone astray, each to our own way, but the Lord has laid upon Him—Jesus—the sin—or iniquity—of us all.” You know, Jesus waits for us to respond to His offer of salvation. The question is for us...what are we waiting for? For more, visit our website at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. Therefore, we will not fear..." These powerful verses from Psalm 46 remind us of a key truth found throughout God's Word—when we become a child of God, Jesus is our refuge. In fact, the last thing Jesus told His disciples before He ascended into heaven was, "...surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." There may be many things we fear or battle. But today, I want to encourage you: Find your refuge in Jesus. He will be your Rock, your Fortress, your Bulwark when storms come your way. You can rest in Him. And knowing this important truth changes everything. It gives us the strength to do what Jesus asked His disciples to do before He told them He will always be with them: "Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations..." Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. In the New Testament, Jesus performs miracle after miracle, healing on the lame, the sick, and the blind. He even raised His friend Lazarus from the dead! Christ has the power to heal us physically; but, you know, the biggest miracle of all is that Jesus can also heal us spiritually. Psalms 103 says, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not his benefits, He forgives all of our iniquity, who heals all of our disease..." Physical illness is one of the awful side effects of sin coming into the world in the Garden of Eden. And the curse of sin has caused this world and everything in it to decay. But Jesus has compassion for the sick and the hurting. Through His death on the cross, He offers anyone who puts their trust wholly, firmly in Him healing from their sin and complete healing one day in Heaven. Let's share the Savior's love with those around us. For more on who Jesus is, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Recently, I was reading statistics from a renowned research company who found that 20% of Americans feel daily loneliness. This confirms what I've heard from people all around the world in the past few years—that people feel isolated and alone. In a day and age of social media and global internet, our younger generations are called “the loneliest generation that's have ever lived.” But there is Someone who came to heal broken hearts. Jesus befriended both outcasts and sinners. He met with them, walked with them, and even died on a cross for them and for us. His death was a sacrifice that paid for the sins of any who will put their trust in Him. And you know what happens when we do that? He calls us, “Friend.” And from that moment we place our trust in Him, He promises that He's always with us—that He will never to leave us. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. In Matthew 16:13-16, Jesus had asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” Well, they replied that some thought he was one of the prophets. And when Jesus asked, “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” And you know, to this day, people are still asking that very question: "Who is Jesus?" And being that Jesus is God, the answer to that question is too big to answer in one minute or an hour or a day. But today, I'd like to start with this: that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. He came from Heaven to earth, lived an absolutely perfect life, and died on the cross for our sins. He rose from the dead, and is in Heaven now, offering the free gift of eternal life to anyone who will put their full trust in Him. Jesus is our Savior! Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Let's suppose I stood before a judge with fifty thousand parking tickets; and in my opportunity to speak, I asked the judge, "your Honor, would you please let me go? I promise I'll be a perfect driver from now on." Do you think that judge should declare me free? If he or she did, they couldn't be considered a just judge. The reason I share this illustration is that it is the same decision God is faced with when looking at our sin. Yes, He loves us and doesn't want to punish us; but on the other hand, He is just and must punish sin. Do you see the problem? Well, God solved this problem in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived an absolutely perfect life, died on the cross to pay for our sins, and all we have to do is put our trust in Jesus alone to be declared righteous in God's sight. What amazing grace — that Jesus would do that for us! For more, visit our website at http://sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Have you ever put your hope in another person? Well, if that person is trustworthy, it's fine! But here's the problem with placing your hope in other people: sometimes, they let you down. But I am here to tell you that placing your hope in Jesus will never result in you being let down. Lamentations 3 says this: Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. What a wonderful thing, to know that your hope for eternal life in Heaven can be certain because Jesus is faithful! If you don't have this hope yet, look to Jesus. His mercies never fails. To learn more about this never-failing hope and to learn how pass it along to others, friends, relatives, coworkers...visit us at sharelife.today. That's sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. What are you completely certain about? You can be sure the sun will rise to the east and set to the west. You can be sure that one plus one will always equal two. And you can be absolutely certain that you cannot get into Heaven because of the good things you've done. Now, before you write that off as a calloused statement or simply an opinion, consider what the Bible says. The Bible tells us that no one is good, not even one. It also says to be perfect, just as your Father in Heaven is perfect. It is a real problem for us if no one is good, yet we are expected to be perfect. We simply cannot do it! This problem is solved by the Person of Jesus Christ who was both God and Man - perfect, just and full of grace. You can be certain that placing your faith in Jesus is enough for eternal salvation. Have you accepted that grace? Find out more by visiting sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Do you ever wonder what happens after death? Does it worry you? Don told us on whatsmystory.org that he used to be pretty scared of dying. As a teenager, his best friend died suddenly in a car accident and at his funeral, he became overwhelmed with fear. Don didn't know where he would spend eternity. That has all changed now! Someone shared the Good News of Jesus with him, he accepted it and now he says that his fear of death has been replaced by peace with God! Now Don is living his life full of peace and telling others about the peace he has found in Jesus. Is this something you need? You know, Heaven is a completely free gift. You just have to accept the gift God has given you through Jesus Christ. If you need more information about how you can have peace in this life now, and certain eternal life when you die, visit our website at sharelife.today. That's sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Have you ever thought, 'that may be true for them, but that's not my truth'? But if something is actually true...then, it is in fact...true! Jesus Christ said, "You will know the truth and the truth will make you free." In fact, He declared that there is truth and not a relativistic truth. He didn't say you will know “a truth” or “your truth” but He said, you will know “the truth.” Today, people will say that we can't know anything for certain but, again, the Bible tells us in First John five verse thirteen, that “These things have I written that you may know that you have eternal life." Now this is something you can count on to be true: Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever and He alone can save you. By believing the truth that Jesus took your sin upon Himself and broke down the wall that kept you from a relationship with God, you can have eternal life. Visit our website at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. If you know Jesus, you know that salvation is just the beginning of a lifetime leaning on your Savior. God is not finished with us yet! There are five means of spiritual growth that every Christian needs, and I encourage you to come alongside another believer to help them in their walk with Christ. The first is to read your Bible daily! Even just a chapter a day. Start with the Gospel of John and go from there. Secondly, prayer is vital for spiritual growth. We've been given access to God anytime, anywhere through prayer. Worshiping God during both times alone spent with Him and in corporate worship at church will draw you nearer to Him. Then, fellowship! Spend time sharing what God is doing in your life with other believers, and encourage one another. Lastly, witness. Every Christian is called to witness so the whole world may hear the love of God. If you need help discipling, being discipled or witnessing, visit our website at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. What is a mentor? Well, according to the dictionary, it is "a trusted counselor or guide." If you are mentoring someone in how to be a better cook, you don't just tell them how. You show them by standing next to them in the kitchen while they cook! This is exactly how we disciple others as Christians. Jesus shows us the perfect example in Mark 3 and Luke 6. When we compare these passages, we see that Jesus spent an entire night on a mountain in prayer; and that when He came down “He appointed the twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach.” It was in the process of “being with Him” that they learned ministry and caught His vision. And then, they followed in His footsteps. We do this very thing in EE through On The Job Training, where we take our trainees out and share the Gospel with them. This is so important in order to teach those we disciple. Learn more at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. When we look at what it means to be a mentor, there is no greater example than Jesus Himself. In fact, Jesus did not only mentor the apostles but also at least seventy-two others believers. You can find this story in Luke 10:1 where it says, "After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to every town and place where he was about to go." Now Jesus had some specific objectives when sending these believers out before Him. He didn't just say, "Go!" He took time to teach them and prepare them for the hard journey ahead. He told them that they would be like lambs among wolves and shared with them specific ways they could know how and where to share the Gospel. When we mentor others, we also have to prepare them for how they can share their faith and discern the Holy Spirit's leading. Would you like to learn how to be a great mentor like Jesus? Well, you can! You can find out more at sharelife.today. That's sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. The focus of Jesus' Great Commission is not in making converts, but rather in making disciples. This was the mark of His ministry on earth, and this is the mark of the mentors we need in the Church today. So, please don't hear me wrong. It is absolutely vital that we share our faith and that everyone gets an opportunity to hear the Gospel. But once they do make a decision to give their life to Christ, we want to equip and disciple them as a new believer. We can't just leave them were they're at and carry on with our lives! It's important for us to give the new believer a track to run on — as Paul modeled for us throughout the New Testament when he encourages believers to run the race and keep the faith. We have the privilege of being disciple-makers across the generations. And it starts with our willingness to share the Gospel. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. What is spiritual multiplication, and why is it important? In 2 Timothy 2:2, Paul writes, "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful people who will be able to train others..." When we share the Gospel and disciple others, we start this important multiplication process. Our spiritual journey isn't finished when we come to know Christ as our Savior. In fact, it's only the beginning! And it is our responsibility and privilege to tell others the Gospel and help them spiritually grow in their walk. And as more and more believers come to faith in Christ and then grow in their relationship with Him, they too will take up the call of sharing with and discipling others. The old saying goes, "Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime." It is better to train a soul-winner than to merely win a soul! It changes everything. Learn more about at sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. It's time to get creative! The truth is, as a body of Christ, we all bring different skills and passions. And so do the younger people in the church! And we can meet them in the middle and use their passions as a way to disciple them. In Romania, every summer they hold a national camp for a week where they focus on discipling teenagers. And every year, there are around one hundred and twenty students from across Europe—and the world!—who join. They focus on three key areas: equipping them with how to share the Gospel, street evangelism and reaching the community, and sports activities like zip lining, competitions, mountain climbing, and all kinds of sports. Not only are these young people sharing their faith and seeing other's hearts and lives changed, they are also having a blast doing it! Now what can we do to disciple the young people in our churches in how the Gospel? Let's meet them where they're at. For resources, visit sharelife.today.
