That's the setting for the next miracle in our Christmas series, as we see firsthand the miracles God wants to work through us in our own seasons of emptiness.

Have you ever been hurt by people within the church? It's inevitable. However big or small, intentional or not, these wounds cut deeper than most we'll ever experience. But God is bigger than the pain that any one person may cause. In Week 4 of "All I Need is a Miracle," we study the final earthly miracle of Jesus before his resurrection (the healing of an ear) to see how Jesus responds to pain inflicted by one of his own disciples.

Society has taught us that the ultimate goal for ourselves and others is to be happy, but what if God designed us for so much more? In the first edition of "TikTok Theology," we look at the dangers of settling for temporary happiness over longterm joy.

In this episode, Alex sat down with Amanda Baugh to chat about her new book, Falling in Love with Nature: The Values of Latinx Catholic Environmentalism. An ethnographic study of Hispanic Catholics, Baugh's book argues to widen the definition of environmentalism to include those who commit more sustainable actions (recycling, public transportation) not because of an express desire to be an environmentalist, but because of pious attention to loving nature in order to uphold one's faith. Spurred by a Public Religion Research Institute survey that found that Hispanic Catholics were more concerned about climate change than any other religious focus group, Baugh pushes against notions of the environmentalism of the poor. The idea that impoverished people practice more sustainable living due to their class, Baugh instead analyzes their faith. Every journey in Christ is different. Sometimes we spend years running away from God, and other times we spend years resting in comfort after initially being on fire for Christ. But no matter what, God's purpose is always waiting for us.
