"Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment." This is the perfect time to get focused on what YOU want to really achieve in your business, career, and life. Some of life's greatest lessons come from unexpected teachers. For Lacy Finn Borgo, some of her greatest teachers have been children. In Lacy's new book, Faith Like a Child: Embracing Our Lives as Children of God, Lacy invites us to consider what we might learn from children. Moreover, could welcoming our child selves draw us deeper into wholeness and our relationship with God?Lacy Finn Borgo teaches and provides spiritual direction through Renovaré, Mercy Center Burlingame, Companioning Center, and with children at Haven House, a transitional facility for families without homes. She holds a doctor of ministry degree in leadership and spiritual formation and a certificate in spiritual direction from Portland Seminary. Borgo has also authored Spiritual Conversations with Children and the children's book, All Will Be Well. In our time together, Lacy and I discuss what we can learn from children and what it means to welcome our child selves. We also consider the importance of tending to childhood wounds, how to remain open to wonder amidst life's griefs and brokenness, and why imagination is pivotal in the life of faith. This episode is filled with so much wisdom; I can't wait for you to listen.Learn more about Lacy's book, here.Buy Melissa L. Would you like to learn how to transform chaos, feeling overwhelmed, and anxiety into clarity, focus, and confidence with a smile, all done through the lens of Family Love? Join LaChelle Adkins and me on Wednesday, February 22nd, from 10 - 11 A.M. Central Time U.S. Our conversation is about her remarkable life journey as America's Supermom juggling marriage, career, and 15 children with a smile instead of stress. LaChelle overcame 13 years of depression and 3 hospitalizations and now helps women create strategies for success without sacrificing their health. After her hospitalization in 2016, She walked away from the victim mindset, embracing a victory mindset and teaching others to overcome obstacles. LaChelle created a signature 6-week coaching program, “Fresh” start, that allowed her to overcome stress, depression, and limiting beliefs. She works with women to transform chaos, overwhelm, and anxiety into clarity, focus, and confidence with a smile. During the global pandemic of 2020, LaChelle created a #smile4wellness movement to empower others to be proactive with their mental health. She believes everyone should begin each day with a SMILE check-in: SMILE (sleep, mood, inner voice, laughter, and energy). These 5 pillars are monitored daily to notice the warning signs of our mental wellness. LaChelle's platform; of books, coaching, videos, and speaking has extended to include community outreach with such organizations as Haven House, Children's Hospital of Atlanta, Communities in Schools Henry County Schools, and a National 30-day organizational campaign alongside Rachael Ray and organizing guru Peter Walsh. Her Livestream TV Series, “Reel life without excuses,” is her latest venture to help women transform.
Jack Von Bulow was born, raised, and still lives just outside of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley; he's practiced restorative dentistry there, after founding Temple City Dental Care, for over 35 years. Although one might reason 35 years in dentistry or anything else translates into a certain chronological result, Dr. V assures us his physiological age lands him between 32 and 35.Dr. V received his Bachelor of Science degree from Cal State University, Los Angeles and his DDS degree from University of Southern California and is intent on continuing to learn. His practice emphasizes esthetic dentistry, periodontics, Invisalign orthodontic care, screening and treating obstructive sleep apnea, and functional care including TMJ-related concerns. Dr. V completes more than 100 hours of continuing education per year and is committed to being a voice for progressive dentistry and informed patients.Dr. V's practice purpose is “Making a world-class difference for others and making dentistry fun”; he has successfully assembled a team that can make patients feel safe and liked on “Hello.” The TCDC commitment is helping patients become their own best healthcare advocates; and the commitment extends beyond the dental practice as Dr. V and team participate in as many as six to seven community projects per year. He has also served on the board of multiple non-profits, including Haven House of Pasadena, the first shelter for victims of domestic violence established in the U.S.Dr. V is a member of the Academy for Laser Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Crown Council; he's also a Board of Directors member of the American Academy of Clear Aligners (AACA), where Dr. V mentors other North American Invisalign orthodontics/GP providers. In his spare time, Dr. V enjoys reading books, going to the movies and exercising at a level the uninitiated might consider obsessive-compulsive. Dr. V is also an unreformed USC Trojan football fanatic. He's also a prolific writer, having written a weekly column for local rags for over 20 years. He's published three books, including “Can We Smile?” (2003) and “Molar Jockey Memoirs” (2007). His most recent book, “The Most Interesting Dentist in the World” was published in 2018 and is a best-of collection of his past columns. Dr. V's written perspective dives into the lighter, more humorous side of dentistry.

LaChelle Adkins also known as “America's SuperMom “ has created a movement to empower women to overcome stress, depression and limiting beliefs. LaChelle believes that everyone should begin each day with a SMILE check in #smile4wellness. SMILE (sleep, mood, Innervoice, laughter and energy) these 5 pillars she believes are important to monitor daily for mental health and wellness. LaChelle and her husband Jerome have 15 children (13 of which they had together) and 2 sons from husband's other relationships. LaChelle has experience with juggling motherhood, military family life, career and life in the ministry all of which led to a search for perfection which was unobtainable. This quest to acquire something not possible led to a downward spiral of depression which resulted in 3 hospitalizations. After the last hospitalization in 2016, LaChelle decided to walk away from the victim mindset and embrace a victory mindset in order to teach others to successfully overcome these obstacles in their lives. She created a strategy she coined as “Fresh” start https://www.voiceamerica.com/episode/113419/a-fresh-start that allowed her to overcome stress, depression and limiting beliefs. LaChelle serves as a lifestyle designer coach teaching clients how to implement this strategy to overcome similar obstacles in their lives. She believes her success is due to her ability to be transparent with her clients which builds trust and helps them to be comfortable removing masks and emotional walls. She currently has programs for group coaching and is an inspirational speaker. Her platform has extended beyond her business to include community outreach with such organizations as Haven House, Children's Hospital of Atlanta, Communities in Schools https://www.facebook.com/219607174805973/posts/1799491383484203?s=686535310&sfns=xmwa Henry County Schools and a National 30 day organizational campaign alongside Rachael Ray and organizing guru Peter Walsh. https://youtu.be/7gmUn44mpV4 https://youtu.be/S6rICMz7iNk https://youtu.be/lRaqH8Xam8c LaChelle feels grateful for her challenges because it has allowed her to serve and add value in the lives of others. Her experiences have helped her to be focused, empathetic and comfortable being herself without seeking validation from others.
Good morning I'm subbing in today! Welcome to Montrose Fresh, from The Montrose Daily Press. COVID concerns may have reduced the number of people looking for a bed at the Lighthouse emergency shelter this past season. But that doesn't mean there is less need. The Lighthouse operates between November and April to provide overnight shelter for homeless people. Recently they wrapped up their winter 2020 season. Chris Hauck, a board member of Montrose Lighthouse, recently said that they had some challenges with COVID compliance. But he emphasized that they did not become a hotspot. They served 56 individuals, which was down substantially from last year. Why? Hauck thinks it was fears of COVID exposure. There was also fairly mild weather this winter. But still, they served 3,297 bed nights and provided 6,518 meals. Hauck said that the Lighthouse did have to turn away some people who were exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. And within the facility, they worked hard to maintain proper social distancing and sanitation. Overall housing is a critical need and homelessness has not diminished. Hauck noted that now, the need may be even greater. Lighthouse and their partners, Shepherd's Hand, also helped people who could not find rentals they could afford. Many people can afford rent, but not the first and last month and deposit. That's where they come in. The charity also worked with Housing Resources of Western Colorado and Haven House Transitional Living Center to help people transition from homelessness into housing. For example, one person they helped was a man who'd lost his housing because he lost his job. He was living with his children in his vehicle. Lighthouse was able to help that family transition to Haven House, a longer-term program. But Hauck thinks more is needed. In fact he thinks that a full-time shelter is necessary in Montrose. And for now, the Lighthouse seasonal shelter needs funding. It costs about $32,000 to operate this past season. If you'd like to donate you can reach out to info@montrose-lighthouse.org. Though the season is over, The Shepherd's Center remains open for food distribution, laundry, shower, and other services. Shepherd's Center will also host a grand opening for invited guests on June 4 and a community open house on June 5th. You can learn more about them at shepherdshandmontrose.org. Visit our full story for more details - at www.montrosepress.com - Finally, before we go we'd like to highlight the four new police officers that the Montrose Police Department has welcomed to its ranks. Officers Andrew Bradnock, Jason Bresett, Curtis Dunlap and Wes Imhof were officially sworn in during a ceremony held in the city council chambers. Police Chief Blaine Hall and others welcomed the officers before an audience of friends, family, city councilors and staff, and fellow officers. It was also broadcast live online. The four new officers are recent graduates of the Western Colorado Law Enforcement Academy. Hall told the officers to hold themselves to the highest personal standards, both on and off duty. According to Hall, their job is to earn and uphold the trust of the citizens of Montrose while protecting their lives and property and the community itself. Hall also said that Montrose has always been a community that supports local law enforcement. Following the ceremony, the officers were dismissed to begin additional training within Montrose Police Department headquarters. - That's all for today, thank you for listening! Keli and Paulette share together the fears women have when they are about to embark on the process and journey of divorce. Here is a bit of Keli's background and why she is so well equipped to be the one to educate and empower women in all stages of financial needs. I am a Financial Planner and CPA with an entrepreneurial background and a passion for helping people achieve their financial objectives. As a licensed Registered Representative and CPA, I bring a tax-efficient approach to my clients’ financial circumstances. And as a small business owner, I recognize the value of innovative approaches to financial freedom. My decades of accounting experience and my entrepreneurial spirit have formed my philosophy - providing my clients with smart choices that will help them create a secure future. Background I obtained my BS Degree in Accounting from Florida State University in 1988. I then worked for Arthur Andersen until I took a position as a financial analyst at McDonald’s Corporation’s Regional Accounting Center in Clearwater, Florida. I ultimately became Regional Accounting Supervisor and was then promoted to Assistant Controller in the Atlanta office. When my three boys were young, I spent a few years at home to devote my time and energy to their early development. When those initial demands settled, I was looking for a way to fulfill my passions and return to the workforce. I wanted an opportunity that would allow me to help people and make a difference in their lives. In working with my own financial professional at the time, I realized financial planning would allow me to expand on my strengths and qualifications to meet the challenge of a new career. In 2011, I formed Keli Hazel and Associates, LLC, and joined Money Concepts because of their broad range of nonproprietary financial products. As my company grew, so did my desire to pursue the best ways to serve my clients. In 2019, I became affiliated with U.S. Planning Group in order to continue to move my company forward. I remain independent, with no proprietary products or services to promote and no quotas to fill. USPG’s technology and additional support will improve the efficiency and security of our operations, increasing the time that I can spend working for and with clients. My ultimate goal is to create a personal financial strategy specific to your unique needs. I look forward to working with you soon! As international trade tensions escalate, the US state of Wisconsin is a fascinating place to discover the consequences. Specialist producers like Wisconsin's ginseng growers are directly affected by the new trade war between the US and China. Traditional cheese makers meanwhile see all this as the latest round in an endless battle for freer trade in global food. And in the south of the state, a new kind of manufacturing economy is taking shape with a vast new investment by the Taiwanese tech manufacturer Foxconn. Jonty Bloom travels around the state to gain rich insights into where today's trade wars could eventually lead. On Today's show Katie will share: -What is your personal mission statement “Inspire a unique culinary lifestyle brand through a mixed media experience” -What is your biggest business mistake I’ve had a ton of mishaps, but I honestly don’t consider any a mistake, I consider them all incredible learning experiences, and without those mishaps I wouldn’t have the success or clarity that I have today. When I opened the first restaurant I really didn’t understand the ups and downs of business and took a lot of things personally. I would give up a lot in the beginning. I don’t give up now. My takeaway from all of those failures in the first few years was a checked ego and an understanding of the cycles of business and how to pivot quickly. No one is on top forever, but I now know how to regain strength, pivot, and march back up the hill. -How do you handle business stress and uncertainty Prayer and trust in God -Greatest business decision that changed everything Launching a kickstarter.com campaign. It’s what brought excitement and awareness to my brand, and introduced me to the right team of people. -Best book for the entrepreneurial mindset The Four Hour Work Week, by Timothy Ferris. I don’t agree with everything in the book, but there are a few key messages that have really shaped and inspired my entrepreneurial thinking. - Plus much more...
For five years on network NBC-TV, Erin Gray was the American's image of the ideal woman. Her “Kate” in Silver Spoons” managed to have it all –marriage, family, and business career. And for two years before that she had redefined our public image of the beauty with brains, when “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” became a hit series, her sleek sophisticated “Colonel Wilma” became a role model, and Erin Gray became a household word. Erin's success as the face that launched some of America's most glamorous beauty products was already legendary before she made the dramatic career change from model to actress. As the original “I'm Worth It” woman for L'Oreal, and the Bloomingdale's spokeswoman for ten years, she was launched into a starring role in the critically acclaimed television mini-series “Evening In Byzantium” with Glenn Ford. Ms. Gray continued to star in numerous Movies-Of-The Week, “Born Beautiful”, “Starman”, “Coach of the Year,” and Code of Vengeance”, and also starred as Lilah opposite Kenny Rogers in the feature film “Six Pack” directed by Dan Petrie. Possessing a highly developed sense of public service, Ms. Gray, as spokesperson for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and as board member for Haven House, the oldest battered women's shelter in the U.S., co-produced and wrote PSAs with Women In Film. For over a decade Erin has been speaking out against domestic violence, a topic that is close to her heart. Erin also takes time to host such programs as Lifetime Cable's, “Drug & Alcohol Intervention Program”, and to give motivational speeches for such organizations as UPS, AFLAC, and Lady Remington. Erin is the recipient of 9 community service awards, such as The Leadership Award by the County of LA & The Guardian Angel Award from the Mothers Against Sexual Abuse, The YWCA's Women of Achievement Award of Distinction, the 1999 Women's Peace Power Media Award, and the 2002 Woman of the Year Award by the Commission For Women.
