In this episode of Chai Beauty, I reflect on Session Six of the When You Pray Bible study, which focuses on interceding for others in prayer. While it's easy to pray for friends, intercession often challenges us most when it involves those who are difficult to love or those we've been separated from.I share how scriptures like 1 Peter 5:8–11 and Romans remind us that suffering is universal—and that God calls us to stand firm in faith by lifting others up, even in our own trials. Through personal stories and lessons, I explore the tension between selfishness and obedience, what it means to truly love with patience, and why forgiveness and reconciliation matter in God's eyes. We'll explore:Why interceding can feel harder than personal prayerLearning to pray for those who challenge usThe privilege of caring for others as God cares for usWhy forgiveness is for you, and reconciliation is for usLiving out patient, protective, and unconditional Christian love

In this compelling episode of "Father and Joe," hosts Father Boniface and Joe Rockey delve into the profound concept of what it truly means to make an offering to God during Mass. Often perceived as just the physical gifts like bread and wine, this episode uncovers the depth of offering our entire lives—including our emotions and experiences—as a symbolic gesture transubstantiated into the body and blood of Christ. Joe shares his transformative realization that the offerings are not limited to tangible items but encompass the entirety of our lives, our struggles, and our joys. Father Boniface elaborates on the notion of negativity and how it is an intrinsic part of human life. Drawing from the Psalms and the example of Our Lady's sorrows, he explains how God not only understands these emotions but provides us with the means to express them through sacred scripture. The conversation navigates through the delicate balance of honesty in our relationship with God, examining how these emotions, though perceived as significant in our lives, may not impact God in the same way. Yet, Father Boniface emphasizes that God, being outside of time, provides a pathway for us to offer everything to Him, making our human experience a worthy offering. Ultimately, listeners are invited to embrace the idea that it's not about the perfection of what we offer but the wholehearted surrender of our entire selves to God. The episode concludes with a poignant reminder that the courage to present everything to God—good, bad, and ugly—is central to nurturing a profound and intimate relationship with the divine. Father Boniface encourages a posture of trust, surrender, and honesty, reflecting on our eternal role as God's children, always welcome to bring our whole selves to the altar. This episode inspires listeners to carry this understanding into their lives, fostering a deeper sense of comfort and courage in their spiritual journey.Tags: Spirituality, Faith, Christian Living, Mass, Eucharist, Spiritual Growth, Offering, Transformation, Faith Journey, Emotional Growth, Religious Understanding, Divine Offering, God and Emotions, Relationship with God, Lament in Faith, Childlike Trust, Human Experience, Spiritual Honesty, Spiritual Direction, Religious Life, Scripture and Emotion, Mass offering, Bread and Wine, Transubstantiation, Vulnerability, Trust in God, Spiritual Challenges, Faith in Struggles, God's Presence, Eucharist Understanding, Mass Experience, Sacramental Life, Honest Prayers, Father Boniface Hicks, Joe Rockey, Communal Worship, God and Pain, Spiritual Dialogue, Faith GuidanceHashtags: #Spirituality, #Faith, #ChristianLiving, #Mass, #Eucharist, #SpiritualGrowth, #Offering, #Transformation, #FaithJourney, #EmotionalGrowth, #ReligiousUnderstanding, #DivineOffering, #GodAndEmotions, #RelationshipWithGod, #LamentInFaith, #ChildlikeTrust, #HumanExperience, #SpiritualHonesty, #SpiritualDirection, #ReligiousLife, #ScriptureAndEmotion, #MassOffering, #BreadAndWine, #Transubstantiation, #Vulnerability, #TrustInGod, #SpiritualChallenges, #FaithInStruggles, #GodsPresence, #EucharistUnderstanding, #MassExperience, #SacramentalLife, #HonestPrayers, #FatherBonifaceHicks, #JoeRockey, #CommunalWorship, #GodAndPain, #SpiritualDialogue, #FaithGuidanceThis line is here to correct the site's formatting error.

Navigating new seasons in our spiritual journey requires strength and courage, just as Joshua needed when leading Israel into the Promised Land. Growth often brings discomfort, but it's necessary for spiritual maturity. To successfully navigate these transitions, we must keep God's Word in our mouths, speaking life rather than complaints, and follow His presence even into unfamiliar territory. God sometimes ends one provision (like the manna) to move us toward something better. These challenging transitions are actually opportunities for deeper maturity and fruitfulness in our faith journey.Keep the Bible in your mouth - what we speak matters, especially during times of change and growth.Follow God's presence - just as the Israelites followed the Ark of the Covenant, we need to be led by the Spirit rather than our own preferences. When spiritual practices feel dry or stale, it may be God's way of pushing you into a new season of growth.Growth and change are often uncomfortable but necessary for spiritual maturity. Our faith is meant to be lived in community, not in isolation.Support the show

When life, faith, and music collide, the result can be both beautiful and challenging. In this deeply personal conversation, musician Mike Geo opens up about his 20-year journey through the music industry and his parallel spiritual evolution from cultural Catholicism to finding a more personal Protestant faith.Growing up in an Italian-American family in New York, Mike's earliest musical memories involve playing Beatles songs on a plastic guitar—a passion that would eventually lead him to form the band Saints in Exile. He candidly shares how the band walks an interesting line, creating music with Christian themes that isn't overtly "worship" but can still reach listeners who might otherwise avoid faith-based content. The heart of this conversation explores Mike's 2020 spiritual awakening, which he colorfully describes as "the year I got smacked in the face by Jesus." Through Bible study and apologetics, he found himself questioning aspects of his Catholic upbringing and embracing a grace-through-faith perspective that transformed his relationship with God. This shift wasn't without complications—from family traditions to online criticism when he baptized his daughter in the Catholic church.Perhaps most moving is Mike's vulnerability about personal trials, including his daughter's health challenges and a devastating series of losses in 2022 that inspired his controversial song "Be Refined." The lyric "sometimes church can feel so phony, like if you're not happy, you're not holy" resonated with many while creating friction with church leadership—highlighting the complicated relationship many believers have with religious institutions.Whether you're a music lover, someone questioning your faith background, or simply appreciate authentic stories of personal growth, this conversation offers valuable insights about finding your own path while remaining open to where God leads. As Mike puts it, "If you had a failure in church, it does not reflect God and what He wants from you."Support the show
How far can mercy reach when a decades-long double life finally unravels, shaking a ward's trust and a family's heart? This week on Latter-day Lights, Scott and Alisha welcome back Martin Onken for Part Two of his story—the hope-filled conclusion to his twelve-year journey of repentance. In part one, Martin opened up about a lonely, complicated childhood that left him hungry for love and belonging. Leaning on his relationship with God to seek out the acceptance he was lacking, he found purpose in the Church and eventually served as a bishop. In time, however, he began living a double life, entering a 30-year extramarital affair that ultimately came to light, and led to a heartbreaking disciplinary council and excommunication. In part two, Martin shares hard-won practices that rebuilt his soul: Consistently showing up to support groups and recovery programs, listening to those who saw him past his wrongdoings, retaking missionary lessons, and reflecting on temple grounds. He shares what it was like to tell his children the truth, navigate the difficult decision to separate from his wife, find love again after heartbreak, and rebuild his trust with family, all the while patiently seeking permission to officially return to the Church. Each of these steps nudged Martin closer to approval for rebaptism, and revealed that Heavenly Father was guiding the process all along.By the end of this episode, you'll feel steadier about walking your own path back to God no matter how far off you've strayed. Expect practical tools, compassionate perspectives, and a renewed witness that no one is too far gone for the Savior's relentless mercy.*** Please SHARE Martin's story and help us spread hope and light to others. ***To WATCH this episode on YouTube, visit: https://youtu.be/7K4-ZboOnZQ-----To WATCH part one of Martin's story, visit: https://youtu.be/8IvvCcAoGWcTo READ Scott's new book “Faith to Stay” for free, visit: https://www.faithtostay.com/-----Keep updated with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/latter.day.lights/Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/latterdaylightsAlso, if you have a faith-promoting or inspiring story, or know someone who does, please let us know by going to https://www.latterdaylights.com and reaching out to us.

In this episode of Together 4 Good, Pastor Nate sits down with Susan Junge to talk about why, after 27 years, she's still going to church. Her journey began in an interfaith marriage, sitting in a Lutheran church pew mostly so her husband could sing in the choir. But somewhere along the way, the Holy Spirit began tugging at her heart. She was baptized as an adult, dove into the church choir, Stephen Ministry, and found a depth of faith she never expected.Susan opens up about how worshiping together shaped her marriage, how centering prayer transformed her daily awareness of God, and why community, both here and in the Communion of Saints, still holds her steady today. It's a conversation about how faith grows quietly over time, why showing up matters, and how God uses community to meet us in joy, grief, and even in the search for a missing cell phone. What You'll Learn in this EpisodeHow an interfaith marriage became the starting point for a lifelong Lutheran journey. Why showing up in person changes how we experience God and each other. The spiritual depth found in choir, hymns, and weekly communion. What centering prayer is and how it can change your daily life. Why church isn't about what you “get” but also about who you walk alongside. How the Communion of Saints connects us to those we love, even after they're gone.Share this episode with a friend and to learn more visit bethany-denver.org or connect with us on Instagram @ bethany_denver
Preteens are kids who are in-between childhood and teenagers — they are experiencing a lot of growth & development, often with high emotions, but their maturity lags behind. Parents need to monitor & limit preteen internet use, ask more questions (and lecture less), and maintain faith traditions such as attending church, praying over their kids, and reintroducing them to God’s Word. The conversation highlights the transformational nature of faith and the importance of remembering and sharing how God has worked in life. Tony and Jesse encourage listeners to reflect on their own journeys and to share their stories of grace with others. They emphasize that testimonies are not the gospel itself but are powerful tools for pointing people to the gospel and encouraging others in their faith. The hosts also discuss the significance of ministering to children and cultivating childlike faith. They reflect on how simple faith can lead to profound spiritual truths and encourage parents, teachers, and those in children's ministry to continue planting seeds of the gospel. Encouraging Faith Conversations: The hosts challenge listeners to share their testimonies with others and reflect on what God is currently doing in their lives. Questions for Reflection: How has God's providence been evident in your life when you look back on your faith journey? What role have others played in nurturing your faith, and how can you encourage others in their walk with Christ? When was the last time you shared your testimony with someone? What impact did it have? How can you cultivate a childlike faith and sense of wonder in your relationship with God? What happens when someone truly goes "all in" with God? Travis Kring's return to Road to Redemption unveils the extraordinary transformation that unfolds when complete surrender meets divine grace.Travis takes us back to that pivotal moment on a West Palm Beach shoreline in April 2021. Having lost his marriage, children, career, and hometown, he stood at life's crossroads facing a divine ultimatum: "Is this flesh day? Is this all about yourself or is this about me?" His decision to fully commit sparked a redemption journey that continues to accelerate with each passing day.The conversation vibrates with authentic passion as Travis shares how his newfound boldness manifests in unexpected places. What began as two friends praying quietly by a gym water fountain has exploded into a daily gathering of 25+ people openly praying in a secular fitness center. This "ministry field" perfectly illustrates Travis's philosophy of spiritual offense rather than defense: "The devil's on full speed every day to attack us...we want to fight him back with scripture, with passion, putting people together."Perhaps most powerful is Travis's raw honesty about isolation's dangers and community's healing power. "Isolation is where the devil takes us to die," he shares, contrasting this with the life-giving connections formed in men's groups where vulnerability and accountability flourish. His encounter with Dallas Jenkins (creator of The Chosen) reinforces his core message: listen intently when the Holy Spirit speaks and obey immediately, regardless how small the prompting.Ready to move from being a fan to a follower of Christ? Travis's testimony offers both inspiration and practical pathways forward. His contagious enthusiasm for scripture reading, church attendance, and small group participation provides a roadmap for anyone seeking the "joy unspeakable" he's discovered through complete surrender to God.For more information contact us atrtrdestiny@gmail.com

Maya Angelou said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” When things start to get shifty in your faith life, it can feel overwhelming and difficult to talk about, even with those closest to you. There are as many stories of evolving faith as there are Latter-day Saint women who experience them. For Season 10, Cynthia and Susan have asked listeners to share what started them on the journey they're navigating now. In Episode 224, they explore some of those stories.
