2 Samuel 21-22.1What have we done? How do we defeat our enemies? These two questions loomed large in the minds of God's people as David became king and they didn't stop. These questions were there before David and the answers marked much of his reign. Yet, as he nears the end of his life what stands out most isn't that he answered them, but that God delivered him. God delivered his king ... and his people!

Falling into sin often doesn't look like one single event. Instead, it's likely to be a cycle of failure, suffering, regret, and efforts to do better, followed by more failure. This week, as we continue our series on Judges, Pastor Connor discusses the way the Israelites fell into that cycle, as well as what it takes to break out of it. In times of victory, we need to recognize God publicly, remember we are stewards, not owners, and become experts in gratitude. In times of struggle, we need to examine our lives carefully, look for the lesson, and trust God's timing. This week, our hosts continue their discussion on the book of Judges, some of the talking points were, what was the role of punishment and how we should perceive that, if we need difficult times to appreciate God, and why it is important for us to study the old covenant. Oh and tune into the beginning to hear our hosts talk about new years resolutions. If you would like to watch the video podcast, find us on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMhDfGn0zfzi6XjcKkSVcFAFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/discovertbcInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/topekabiblechurchWebsite: https://www.discovertbc.com/
"The God Who Delivers " A sermon on Exodus 3:7-12 by Davey Davis.
Ever felt too reluctant or afraid to step into what God is asking of you? In Exodus 7–12 we see Moses wrestle with his own fear and insecurity, yet God continues to show His unmatched power, His patient pursuit, and His ultimate rescue. This story reminds us that God’s deliverance is never about our strength but about His presence and power at work through us. Through the showdown with Pharaoh, the plagues that confronted Egypt’s false gods, and the first Passover pointing us to Jesus, we see a God who rescues His people and invites us to trust Him. Even in our weakness, He is faithful to deliver, and His rescue requires our response.

In today's Morning Manna, we close Daniel 6 with a powerful display of God's justice and sovereignty. After Daniel's miraculous deliverance from the lions, his accusers face the judgment they intended for him, and King Darius issues a decree declaring the greatness of the living God. These verses remind us that the Lord's kingdom is everlasting, His dominion without end, and His power to save reaches into every circumstance. No matter the schemes of men, God's purposes will prevail, and His servants will be preserved. Hey sisters! Today I'm welcoming back the sweet, radiant Naya—who you may remember from Episode 37. If not, let me catch you up: she shared her story of walking through miscarriage, finding healing, and getting pregnant again. It was powerful then... and this update is even more incredible! When we last spoke, Naya was 13 weeks pregnant and filled with hope. Now? Her rainbow baby is 10 months old, and she's walking us through everything that's happened since—from a surrendered pregnancy to a long and intense labor, to a really raw, faith-filled postpartum season that didn't go quite like she imagined. In this episode, she shares: How she stuck with her anti-inflammatory habits throughout pregnancy What changed when her midwife unexpectedly got injured late in pregnancy How she coped with hospital birth, long labor, and a surprise epidural Her emotional NICU experience when baby had jaundice The spiritual truth God whispered over and over: “It's not about the midwife. It's not the doctor. It's Me.” We talk about what it's like to dream big for birth… and still surrender it all to God. Plus, we offer encouragement and warnings for mamas choosing hospital birth—especially around third-trimester ultrasounds, postpartum protocols, and breastfeeding setbacks. This one is filled with raw honesty, faith, and the reminder that God is the Doctor of doctors—and He is the one who delivers. In His good Grace, Bekah Resources & Links: ✨ I've put together a free faith-filled booklet to help guide you through this journey. It's called Faith-Driven Fertility, and it's full of practical steps and encouragement for trusting God while supporting your body for conception.

Let me ask you a question, “What is your name for God?” Hmm, you mean like a nickname? Like big daddy in the sky? No. You may not be aware of this, but in the Old Testament, the one true name of God (sometimes pronounced Jehovah or YHWH) was too holy for people to speak out loud. But even though they would not say the one true name of God, they did call him by other names. They usually gave God a name when they had an intense, encounter with God. Or they would give him a name that described how He was at work in their lives. For example, The All-Sufficient God, The God Who Heals, and The God Who Provides were some of their favorite names for God. But certainly if you asked the first people of God, the Israelites, one of their most important names of God was Jehovah Mephalti, the Lord my Deliverer. This was how they first experienced Him and it forever changed their lives. The God Who Delivers... that's what He thinks about slavery.
What is your name for God? A basic idea that underlies the entire Old Testament is that God can be known by His actions in the world. This thought goes all the way back to the exodus experience, when God delivered His people from slavery. During the exodus, theHebrews came into relationship with God, they knew God because He had acted in history to deliver them from slavery in Egypt. His actions revealed who He was. He is the one who delivers us from slavery. The Israelites understood that God's actions in the arena of human history were not just illustrations of God's power to a watching world, He was "making for Himself a name." He was revealing His character as the one saves, the one who delivers us. And that name held true when Jesus came; the God who delivers...
Wherever you find yourself this weekend, this I do know, we have a God who delivers, and this we must remember.
