Father Shawn McCain Tirres on July 13, 2025 Reflecting on Resurrection South Austin's 10th anniversary, Father Shawn explores Jesus' sending of the 72 disciples with nothing but faith and God's provision. Drawing from his own family's leap of faith in moving from California to start this church, he challenges the congregation to consider how we pursue God's mission - not through worldly means of power, possessions, or strategic planning, but through radical dependence on God's ways. He examines the tension between effectiveness and faithfulness, warning against the temptation to compromise the gospel message for comfort, growth, or to avoid upsetting the powerful. The sermon calls the church community to continue "traveling light" with Jesus, pursuing both the aims and the means of God's kingdom as they announce God's peace and healing to their South Austin neighbors. There is a biblical process for appointing new leadership within the church. Pastor Daniel teaches this process, and displays how it was used in the selection of the new senior pastors that God has called to lead Lifepoint in this new season.

This week, we continue our series, Quest for a King, in the book of 1 Samuel. In chapter 3:1-21, God calls Samuel and reveals a message of judgment against Eli's household. Samuel obeys, and as he grows, he is recognized as a true prophet of the Lord. Pastor Eric highlights four key takeaways from the text: 1. The silence of God (vs. 1-3). 2. The pursuit of God (vs. 4-9). 3. The Word of God (vs. 10-14). 4. The call of God.

Have you ever heard God call you by your name? Maybe you haven't heard him with your ears, but have you sensed him calling you in your heart? Today we are thinking on the subject, “When God Calls Your Name.” However God may call you, it can be a wonderful experience, not something to dread or to cause you to be frightened. What is it really like when God calls your name?

On the next Treasured Truth, we’ll continue our study about God’s call in our lives. Pastor Ford will explain that God’s resources are reserved for those who fulfill the responsibilities He gives to them. So, our provision is linked to His purpose. And the problem is that many of us want the provision, but we don’t want His purpose. On the next Treasured Truth, we’ll be that there are times when we will lose out on the blessings of God, because we don’t have enough faith to put all our trust in the plan that He has for us. But Pastor Ford will explain there are also times when we place only part of our faith in His plan, and God still chooses to bless us fully. How God chooses to bless us, when He chooses to bless us, and how much He chooses to bless us with, is really all up to Him. On the next Treasured Truth, we’ll be reminded that we have a God Who cannot love us more than He already does and will never love us any less. And Pastor Ford will explain that even though we sometimes ignore the plan He has for us and we walk away from Him, He will never walk away from us. No matter how far we stray, we never cease to be His children. To learn more from Pastor Ford about responding to the calling of God in your life, be sure to join us for the next Treasured Truth.
