You're trying to lose weight and the scale has barely moved. You're building something and a year in, it's still not where you need it to be. You're waiting on a hard season to lift, a relationship to heal, a prayer to be answered. That's waiting. And almost all of us are doing it right now, in at least one part of our lives. Here's what I've come to believe: there's a way to wait well, and a way to wait poorly. Most of us never realized waiting was something you could be good or bad at. But how you wait may be the single biggest factor in whether you ever get to the other side. In this episode: what waiting well actually looks like, and why it has nothing to do with how far away you are or how long it's going to take. The difference between knowing you have agency and feeling it. Why "there are no good options" is almost never true — it's a poverty of options, and the cure is creativity. My "stupid idea time" practice and the decision it produced. And how waiting well still applies even to the things you can't control at all — grief, a marriage, a child, a prayer — because there is always something within your power, even when the outcome isn't. You are not stuck. You are between. And how you wait in the between shapes everything that comes after it. Want something in your inbox that actually fills your tank? Every Sunday I send a free newsletter called FUEL. No pitches, no funnels, no ask — just something to gas you up and send you into your week with more energy, clarity, and focus. Head to onechurch.ca/myone to see all that is happening at OneChurch If you would like to support OneChurch, there are a couple ways you can do it: 1. Pray for us. Our desire is to impact people eternally with the good news of the gospel and help everyone unlock the life God has planned for them. This is a spiritual work, and we need spiritual support first and foremost. 2. Get involved. It is easy to sit back and just watch the service. In order to develop our spiritual muscles, we need to engage with the content. So comment, ask for prayer, and come to a service if you're in the area. We'd love to have you. 3. Give financially. God calls us to be generous, and to support the local church. We don't ask for much, just whatever you can spare. If everyone gives a little, it goes a long way to helping end the year strong. Rabbi Josh Feigelson reframes the experience of waiting by drawing on the Jewish wisdom of the mezuzah. Using a personal story about meeting President Clinton at the Oval Office, he distinguishes between the "waiting room" mindset rooted in anxiety and the "hallway" mindset rooted in presence and agency. This episode of Resilience Unravelled discusses “waiting well,” drawn from long UK healthcare waits and delays in the judicial system, and argues that in a culture of speed, waiting feels like a rude interruption but is inevitable. Waiting well is framed as an intentional mindset—responding to uncertainty with resilience, self-kindness, curiosity, hope, and purpose—rather than passively complaining or catastrophising. Examples include using healthcare waits to seek reputable information, practice mindfulness, and build support, and using career or milestone delays to hone skills and set smaller goals. Not waiting well can increase stress and helplessness, lead to rash decisions, erode trust in institutions, and waste opportunities for growth. Factors that worsen waiting include cultural productivity pressure, uncertainty, poor communication, perfectionism, and digital-age expectations. Strategies include reframing, mindfulness, micro-goals, supportive communities, limiting rumination, meaningful distraction, self-advocacy, and focusing on controllables.00:00 Why Waiting Matters01:33 What It Means to Wait Well03:21 The Costs of Waiting Badly05:22 Why Waiting Feels Hard Today09:05 Practical Strategies to Cope12:47 Advocate and Take Agency14:45 Make Waiting Part of Life15:08 Final TakeawaysYou can contact us at info@qedod.comResources can be found online or link to our website https://resilienceunravelled.com#resilience, #burnout, #intuition

Hurry promises control; waiting offers transformation. We open up about that uncomfortable space between promise and payoff, where timelines stretch and motives surface. Drawing from Philippians 4, we unpack how Paul learned contentment through both scarcity and abundance, and why that skill is not discovered by accident but forged through practice. Contentment is not settling. It's trusting God enough to be at peace before He answers, letting grace empower new patterns instead of revisiting old ones.We share how a 30-day spiritual journey—fasting, fixed times of prayer, and Scripture—recalibrated our home and our church. The surprise wasn't a number or a plan; it was rediscovering that the reward is the Lord: steadfast love, new mercies, real faithfulness. From there, we walk through a paradox Jesus gives His followers: go, but not yet. That tension invites purposeful waiting—discerning when to move and when to stay, when to prepare and when to pursue. Along the way, we name how waiting exposes our true supports and why availability is the greatest ability when dreams outsize our strength. You'll hear candid stories of transition, the pull to manufacture outcomes, and how prayer at odd hours can awaken trust in the unknown. We talk success versus significance, and why what God builds must rest on His voice, not our velocity. If you've been standing in row nine trying to squeeze past row eight, this conversation will make you smile—and then slow down—so you can notice where God is already at work. Listen to be grounded in contentment, sharpened by discernment, and anchored in a reward that outlives every milestone. What if your stalled season is not a detour but your assignment? We open with a light story about choosing speed over quality, then step into Acts 24 where Paul stands before Felix, falsely accused and stuck for two years. Instead of bitterness, he models a clear conscience and a hope that does not hinge on a court date or a political swing. That tension—living faithfully while nothing seems to move—frames a conversation about integrity, courage, and the quiet power of long obedience. We walk through Paul's calm defense, his refusal to play outrage games, and his unwavering anchor in the resurrection. From there, we explore how integrity at work becomes a slow-burning witness: telling the truth when rumors fly, resisting performative outrage, and becoming the person trusted with hard news. We also look at hard conversations through Paul's exchange with Felix and Drusilla—righteousness, self-control, and judgment named without cruelty. Love does not flatter; love speaks truth with a path to mercy.Along the way, we share a raw personal story from years of medical waiting that turned hospital halls into mission fields. We highlight how churches in conflict zones keep worshiping, praying for enemies, and sharing what little they have. Then we get practical: simple tests for speech and posts, curating media to guard hope, praying before panicking, and spotting “Felix moments” with coworkers, neighbors, and friends. If your career feels stalled, your health uncertain, or your family stuck in looped conflict, this conversation offers a sturdier hope and a workable plan—bear witness while you wait with a clear conscience, a resurrection horizon, and kindness that does not compromise. If this encouraged you, follow the show, share it with a friend who's in a long wait, and leave a review so more listeners can find hope in slow seasons.Support the showIf you enjoyed this episode, consider subscribing to Madison Church on your favorite podcast platform. What do you do while you're waiting on God?In James Week 7, Pastor Aaron walks through James 4–5 to uncover a counter-cultural wisdom for planning, handling wealth, and waiting on the Lord. James confronts arrogant assumptions about tomorrow, exposes the danger of wealth without surrender, and reminds us that our lives are like a mist—temporary, fragile, and fully dependent on God.This message challenges us to ask:Are my plans shaped by God's will—or my own gain?Am I storing up treasures on earth or in heaven?Am I waiting with patience—or anxiety?James doesn't condemn planning or wealth—he confronts pride, arrogance, and misplaced security. Instead of self-sufficiency, we are called to humility. Instead of hoarding, generosity. Instead of panic about the future, patient trust in the Lord's coming.Because real wisdom isn't just about making plans—it's about surrendering them.If this message encouraged you, like, subscribe, and share with someone navigating uncertainty.

In this episode of The Living It Out Podcast, Pastor David Maestas teaches from 2 Samuel 2:1–3:5, reminding us that just because God has promised something doesn't mean the battle is over. In fact, sometimes the fight intensifies after the anointing. As David steps into leadership over Judah, conflict immediately follows. The house of Saul and the house of David enter a long, exhausting struggle—one marked by opposition, loss, and slow progress. This passage shows us a hard but necessary truth: spiritual battles are often prolonged, personal, and refining. Pastor Dave unpacks what it looks like to: Trust God while progress feels slow Lead faithfully in seasons of opposition Stay obedient when the promise hasn't fully materialized Recognize that growth often happens through resistance This teaching challenges listeners to stop interpreting hardship as failure and instead see it as part of God's forming process. David didn't rush the throne, manipulate outcomes, or fight in his own strength, he waited on God while walking faithfully through conflict.

Homily from the Third Sunday of Advent In seasons of waiting, do we complain or praise? While we are waiting, it can feel like nothing is happening. And yet, faith tells us that God is at work even when we can't yet see the fruit. Rather than complaining while we wait, there is another option. Mass Readings from December 14, 2025: Isaiah 35:1-6a, 10 Psalm 146:6-7, 8-9, 9-10 James 5:7-10 Matthew 11:2-11

This episode of Fed by the Fruit with KB takes you on a rich, Scripture-soaked journey through the life of Moses—from his miraculous rescue as a baby in Egypt to his leadership over millions of Israelites in the wilderness. KB walks through the major moments of Moses' story: his upbringing in Pharaoh's palace, his impulsive actions and flight to Midian, the burning bush encounter, the plagues, the Red Sea crossing, the giving of the Ten Commandments, and the establishment of the Old Covenant with God's people. You'll also learn how the tabernacle, sacrificial system, and the Day of Atonement all pointed forward to Jesus and the New Covenant. But this isn't just Bible history; it's deeply practical for your everyday walk with God. KB unpacks what Moses teaches us about waiting on God's timing instead of forcing our own, being faithful in the “valley” and the mundane, allowing God to shape our character in hidden seasons, and stepping out in courage when He calls—even after failure. You'll be reminded that God's ways and timing are better than ours, that His presence is what sets us apart, and that He is still writing redemption stories through imperfect people. If you're in a waiting season, wrestling with calling, or needing fresh encouragement to trust God, this Moses episode is for you. This episode serves as both an informative guide to embrace a healthier, more balanced lifestyle, encouraging listeners to embark on their journeys with renewed vigor and compassion.Reach out to KB on Instagram and share your thoughts.

Waiting. None of us like it, though it seems to be an important part of human life. Join us as we explore the spiritual significance of waiting and how it connects us to the greater story of God. Advent is a time to pause and remember the deep longing that preceded the arrival of Jesus the Messiah. We'll unpack the history of the Israelites, who waited thousands of years for deliverance, and discover that waiting is not wasted time but a period where character is formed and trust is deepened. Learn how to "wait well" by actively trusting God, staying connected to community, and surrendering your desire to control outcomes in relationships, work, and finances. Finally, discover how to renew your strength and find hope in Jesus, the promised Savior who understands our struggles and remains with us through every delay Speaker: Angela Beise

Homily from the First Sunday of Advent. The process is the point. When we are waiting, we often want to be "done". We want to be "there". We want our waiting to be over so that we can start living. But life happens right here and right now. And God is doing something right now. We do not simply endure waiting, we engage during the waiting. The declaration of faithful waiting is: I am confident that this moment is crucial. Mass Readings from November 30, 2025: Isaiah 2:1-5 Psalm 122: 1-9Romans 13:11-14 Matthew 24:37-44

Do long waiting seasons leave you feeling anxious, disoriented and discouraged, particularly when they involve something for which you deeply long? Obviously, we can't "hurry" God along or "force His hand," but we can learn to wait in a way that strengthens our faith, deepens our relational intimacy with Christ, and prepares us for the very good plans He's forged uniquely for each of us. In this episode, Dove Award nominee, singer/songwriter Jamie Jangochian shares how God used her long battle with Lyme disease to bring about growth and reveal the new dreams He had for her. She also shares how to recognize the lies that hold us back, find inner healing through our interaction with Christ, and view our waiting seasons not as disappointments but divine appointments that prepare us for our next assignments.
