The Apostle Peter wrote an admonition and prayer that expresses my desire for you. 2 Peter 3:17–18: You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. To that end, we're beginning a new sermon series today, but not a sequential study through a book of the Bible. Instead, it will be a series of studies of crucial passages which help us learn how to take what we know and apply it in the most helpful ways possible. The goal: I want you to grow in your ability to nourish your soul from the word of God. Our first passage is 1 Timothy 1:5. The previous verses give the background. + In Ephesus certain ones + Teach a different doctrine + Pay attention to spiritual poisons + Speculate rather than being faithful to Scripture Then comes a phrase that is introduced by the glorious word BUT. The but is the Greek word that connotes both a connection and contrast. The connection is that there are certain ones who are altering sound doctrine and introducing spiritually poisonous ideas. The contrast is BUT the goal of OUR instruction is LOVE. 1 Timothy 1:5: But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 - A Pure Heart 2 - A Good Conscience 3 - Unhypocritical Faith

A timely encouragement to stay faithful, keep a clear conscience, and remember that our daily obedience matters. Read it here: https://www.bible.com/bible/113/1TI.1.18-20.NIVUK Watch it here: https://youtu.be/f6igOt6Cg4I
The sermon explores the vital connection between a clear conscience and genuine Christian love, drawing primarily from 1 Timothy 1. It defines conscience as an inner moral awareness that must be calibrated by Scripture to function correctly. The speaker warns that ignoring or searing the conscience leads to spiritual shipwreck and hinders one's ability to love others effectively. By maintaining a clean conscience through quick repentance and reliance on Christ's atoning work, believers gain boldness in prayer and freedom to serve God without condemnation. Ultimately, a purified conscience enables Christians to approach God with confidence and extend authentic love to the world.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently announced a formal partnership to integrate the company's artificial intelligence into the Department of Defense's classified systems. This strategic move occurs as the Trump administration actively removes Anthropic's technology from federal use following a dispute over service terms. The new agreement includes specific safety protocols, such as maintaining human oversight for lethal force and banning domestic surveillance. Altman positioned this deal as a way to standardize military AI regulations and reduce legal friction between tech firms and the government. Ultimately, the shift establishes OpenAI as a primary technological partner for national security operations while marginalizing its competitors.

Delivered by Pastor Brad Smith 17/06/25. One of the greatest promises we receive from God is the ability to clear our conscience from our human failings and limitations. The reason is obvious when we think about it... it is almost impossible to serve God when we are guilty or worthless. Thus, God reinforces the fact that he is greater than our conscience and he motivates us towards greater and more effective service.
The aim in Gospel teaching and and in making disciples is that people would grow to be people of love. This sermon looks at the conscience and how a good one produces love.

Pastor Hilton preaches from 1 Peter 3:21, emphasizing that baptism is the answer of a good conscience toward God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He establishes that goodness originates solely from God, not from humanity, citing Genesis 1 where God repeatedly declared His creation good. The sermon traces humanity's fall when Eve, despite living in paradise, was deceived into believing God's provision was not good enough, introducing evil through disobedience. This original sin led to a spiral where every imagination of man's heart became only evil continually. Pastor Hilton contrasts God's good plans (Jeremiah 29:11) with humanity's need for repentance—not God repenting or adjusting His plans, but humans turning from sin. He explains that godly sorrow produces genuine repentance that changes behavior, resulting in carefulness and a restored conscience. The conscience, he teaches, serves as an internal witness of God's law written on hearts (Romans 2:15). Using Paul's testimony of maintaining a good conscience despite his murderous past (Acts 23:1, 24:16), Pastor Hilton demonstrates that anyone can achieve a clear conscience through repentance. He parallels Noah's ark, which lifted the faithful above judgment waters, with baptism, where old sinful life is submerged and new life begins. The sermon concludes that a good conscience demands an answer—the required response of water baptism in Jesus' name, which provides the expected end God promises.
