Friends of the Rosary,Today, Saturday, June 13, the day after the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we celebrate the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Immaculate Heart of Mary reminds us of purity, love, and devotion. It symbolizes Mary's unwavering faith, compassion, and deep connection to God's will. Her heart, untouched by sin, is a model of holiness for all.Through her heart, we find a perfect reflection of God's mercy and grace, guiding us toward a deeper relationship. We seek Mary's intercession to live with love and humility and grow closer to Christ Our Savior. The feast was established in 1944, in the midst of World War II, by Pope Pius XII, who consecrated the world and placed it under the special protection of the Virgin Mary.Pius XII's Decree of May 4, 1944. asked her intercession to obtain "peace among nations, freedom for the Church, the conversion of sinners, the love of purity and the practice of virtue."But the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary wasn't new.Christians were early attracted by the love and virtues of the Heart of Mary.Simeon's prophecy that Mary's heart would be pierced with a sword paved the way for this devotion. Moreover, Mary was not passive at the foot of the Cross; "she cooperated through charity," as St. Augustine says, "in the work of our redemption."The meditations on the Ave Maria and the Salve Regina date back to the Eleventh century. In the seventeenth century, St. John Eudes preached it together with that of the Sacred Heart. In 1830, during the revelation of the "miraculous medal," the Virgin Mary showed to Catherine Laboure the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus united. In the nineteenth century, Pius VII and Pius IX allowed several churches to celebrate a feast of the Pure Heart of Mary.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! The pure in heart will see God. That's not poetry. That's fact, from the lips of Jesus.
(Insight Meditation Community of Richmond) An introduction to the retreat theme of Awakening the Pure Heart.
In this introduction to 1 Timothy we explore a few of the subtle distortions to the Christian faith the people of Paul's day were in danger of believing and how they are still relevant for us today. Masterfully peeling away all the layers of nonsense built up around Jesus, Paul clarifies us how simple and pure the good news really is: we are no better than anyone else, and Jesus is patient with us as we heal and learn to receive his love. A pure heart brings clarity, peace, and a deeper connection with God, as reflected in Psalm 51:10. Spiritual renewal isn’t about restriction—it’s about experiencing the freedom and joy that come from living in alignment with God’s design. This devotional compares spiritual growth to cleaning a home: it may feel uncomfortable at first, but it’s necessary for health and peace. When we invite God to remove unhealthy attitudes and behaviors, He doesn’t just clean us up—He renews us from within. Purity isn’t a burden to carry; it’s a gift that allows us to see God more clearly and live with greater focus, stability, and joy in everyday life. Highlights Spiritual “cleaning” is essential for a healthy, thriving faith God actively helps renew your heart—you’re not doing it alone Holiness is a blessing that protects, not a burden that restricts A pure heart leads to clarity, peace, and deeper connection with God Letting go of sin creates space for joy and spiritual growth Consistent renewal builds a steadfast, focused spirit Do you want to listen ad-free? Full Transcript Below: A Pure Heart Is a BlessingBy: Whitney Hopler Bible Reading:“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10, NIV Every year when I spring clean my home physically, I ask God to help me do spiritual spring cleaning – to clean up my soul. When I clean my home regularly throughout the year, I also often pray for God’s help to get rid of messy attitudes or behaviors, and to blow the fresh air of renewal into my life. It definitely feels like a chore to do physical cleaning. Getting rid of trash, mopping floors, washing windows, and all the other boring and dirty tasks involved in cleaning a house aren’t pleasant. But they’re necessary for living a physically healthy life. It can also feel like a chore to do spiritual cleaning, because it’s stressful to confess unhealthy attitudes and behaviors and to try to make better choices. However, it’s necessary to be spiritually healthy. Unlike with physical cleaning, I have help from God for spiritual cleaning, and that makes all the difference. I’m grateful that I can always succeed with spiritual cleaning – and even enjoy the process of it – because God is always willing to create more purity in my heart and to renew my spirit. Psalm 51:10 is a powerful prayer we can use to ask God to change our hearts for the better. When we’re willing to let God into the messy corners of our lives, he’ll remove the dirt that’s accumulated there and send us fresh help to grow in holiness. When we think about holiness, we may worry that pursuing it will be a chore that will restrict us from having fun or keep us working hard to reach a standard we can never achieve. But God wants us to live holy lives because doing so is truly good for us, and God will help us every step of the way. God wants us to have pure hearts because purity is a blessing, not a burden. God’s commandments for healthy and holy living are actually loving boundaries that protect us from being harmed by sin. Praying for a pure heart invites God to wipe away the dirt of sin from our souls so we can see God more clearly. As Jesus says in Matthew 5:8: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” The reward of purity is experiencing God! A pure heart helps us focus on what really matters most, so we’re not stressed and exhausted from being pulled in many different directions. It helps us realize that God’s ways aren’t meant to restrict us, but to free us to live in ways that help us notice and appreciate the wonder of God’s work in our lives every day. By living each day with a pure heart, we can stay focused on God and enjoy the blessings that God is constantly pouring into our lives. Developing a lifestyle of greater purity is like decluttering a messy room. At first, it might feel hard to let go of certain things. But as the room clears, we realize how stressful it really was to deal with so much clutter. We feel more peaceful in the room, because it’s a healthier space. When we let God help us clean up spiritually, we’ll also notice less stress and more peace in our lives. We’ll have the “steadfast spirit” that Psalm 51:10 mentions – a spirit that’s stronger and more focused, so we’re no longer tossed around by every temptation to sin that comes our way. A pure heart is a blessing, not a chore. It’s the gift of a heart at peace, because it’s the way God designed it to be: clean and whole! Intersecting Faith & Life: As you consider how it’s a blessing to have a pure heart, reflect on these questions: When you think of the word “holiness,” does it feel like a heavy burden or a beautiful invitation? Why do you think that is? Is there a specific kind of mess in your life right now (an unhealthy attitude or behavior) that’s making it hard for you to feel close to God? In Psalm 51:10, King David asks God to renew a “steadfast spirit” within him. In what areas of your faith do you feel most inconsistent right now? How can you ask God for help and rely on that help to be more steadfast in those areas? How do you want to change your life overall, with God’s help, to live with greater purity and holiness? What’s one small yet significant change you can start making right now to live with more purity in your heart every day? We are promised to welcome the King of Glory in if we have clean hands and a pure heart!
The central message of 1 Peter 1:22–25 is that genuine, self-sacrificial love among believers—agape love—is the essential expression of a life transformed by the gospel. This love is not rooted in emotion or relational merit, but in the divine nature imparted through spiritual rebirth by the living and abiding Word of God, which is imperishable and eternally reliable. Because believers have been purified by faith in the gospel and made new creations in Christ, they are called to love one another earnestly and from a pure heart—fervently, persistently, and unconditionally—reflecting the very character of God's love demonstrated on the cross. The sermon emphasizes that this love is not a human effort but a supernatural reality empowered by the Holy Spirit, made possible through the Word of God that both creates and sustains the new life in Christ. Ultimately, this love is not optional but foundational to the Christian life, as it is the fruit of grace, the evidence of true faith, and the means by which believers reflect God's eternal glory.
Being cleansed by Christ isn't just about what we've been saved from—it's about what we're now called to. In this episode, we explore how genuine salvation produces something unmistakable: a sincere, fervent love for others. Walking through 1 Peter 1:22–25, we see that God's Word doesn't just inform us—it transforms us. It purifies our hearts, reshapes our desires, and anchors us in something eternal. While everything in this world fades, the Word of God—and the life it produces—endures forever. If you've been struggling with loving others deeply or living out your faith authentically, this episode will challenge and encourage you to let God's truth do its full work in you.

In this week's sermon we look at Matthew 5:8 and what Jesus means by having a pure heart and what it means to see God. "A Pure Heart and an Open Mind" - A 'The Way of the Mystic Weekend Online Revival' Movie Workshop with David Hoffmeister In this deep and humorous 'The Way of the Mystic' session from February 14, 2026, David Hoffmeister explores the ego's intricate web of "special relationships" through a comedic lens. Using the metaphor of a high school transformation and the awkward quest for romantic validation, the discussion dismantles the hierarchy of love that the world teaches. Key Themes of the Session: The Illusion of Specialness: David examines how the ego uses categories like "best friend," "partner," and the dreaded "friend zone" to maintain a sense of separation and lack. Humor as a Healing Tool: The session highlights the necessity of laughter in undoing the ego's seriousness, reminding us that we simply "forgot to laugh" at the tiny, mad idea of being separate from God. From Scarcity to Abundance: By looking at our desperate attempts to find love in form, we begin to recognize our inherent worthiness and the consistent, unconditional love of the Christ within. "God did not create bodies, and the problem of judgment is the belief that bodies are real. On Valentine's Day, we celebrate the release from these concepts into the pure light of Agapé love." Onryu Mary Stares helps us understand why external peace is impossible without first addressing the "war" occurring inside—the aggression and destructive emotions within our own heart. She offers several key approaches to support this effort:Navigating the Kleshas: Mary identifies aggression as a "cold, critical, and fixed" mind and encourages practitioners to acknowledge this and other destructive emotions (pride, craving, jealousy, and ignorance) rather than skipping over themThe Wisdom of Manjushri: She uses the imagery of the bodhisattva Manjushri and his sword to illustrate how wisdom can be "cutting" and clear without being aggressive, provided it is used with a "pure heart" to perform appropriate actionsPractical Tools for Peace: A number of actionable methods for maintaining a peaceful internal posture during conflict are discussed, such as the STOP practice (Stop, Take a breath, Observe, Proceed) and Pema Chödrön's guidance to remain "embodied, present, and kind."Transforming Personal Conflict: Through personal stories of facing workplace hostility and homophobic harassment, Mary demonstrates how meeting aggression with awareness and sadness—rather than counter-aggression—can prevent the creation of negative karma and lead toward wholeness and relationship______________Onryu Mary Stares first arrived at Tassajara in the summer of 2000, following a period of residential practice at Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia, Canada. After a number of years of coming and going she requested priest ordination and with that request committed to live and work in residence at San Francisco Zen Center for a number of years. Mary has lived and practiced at all three of the SFZC temples and has lived in a number of other Buddhist communities since 1999. A carpenter by trade, Mary was ordained as a Zen priest in 2010 by Arlene Lueck and Myogen Steve Stücky. Mary was Shuso (Head Student) for the Winter 2015 Practice Period at Tassajara. How does listening to the Qur'an differ from reading it? What does it mean to approach the Qur'an not with your mind but with your whole existence? In this episode of Thinking Islam, Dr Abdolkarim Soroush proposes an existential encounter with the Qur'an, one that asks us to set aside our assumptions and approach it not as a book of law or philosophy but as maw'iẓa (admonition) that speaks to the whole being. This conversation explores the difference between reading and listening, why Rumi's Mathnawi is called the Persian Qur'an, and what it means to have a pure heart as a precondition for understanding the Qur'an. We delve into how kufr in the Qur'an is not about non-belief but about arrogance before truth, and why, as Dr Soroush tells us, the companion according to Sufis is everything.Dr Abdolkarim Soroush is a distinguished philosopher of religion and a leading voice in Islamic intellectual reform. A Visiting Scholar at the University of Maryland and former Professor at the University of Tehran, he has held visiting positions at Harvard, Princeton, and Yale Universities. Danica Shoan Ankele, Sensei - ZMM - 11/6/25 - The beautiful activity of Fusatsu, taking the time to recognize/acknowledge harm, atone (become one-with), and thereby shore up our footing on the Path. It's a way to bring to the fore the Buddha's earliest teaching: the pure precepts; To not create evil, to practice good, and to purify the mind (practice good for others.) In those terms, how do we do that? Shoan Osho talks about an aspect of the 4 immeasurables: vowing to "know the root of our suffering." How is that for each of us?
True credibility as a Christian flows from a pure heart of love. John 13:35 reminds us that others will recognize us as disciples of Christ not by our words or actions alone, but by the love we show. When our hearts are fully surrendered to God and motivated by His glory, even skeptical eyes cannot obscure the light of Christ shining through us. Highlights A pure heart of love reflects Jesus to others, regardless of perception or criticism. True discipleship is shown through consistent, Christ-centered love (John 13:35). The enemy may try to derail good intentions, but prayer and discernment restore clarity and peace. Humility and surrender amplify God’s glory, keeping the focus on Him rather than ourselves. Loving boldly, even in the face of misunderstanding, demonstrates faithfulness and obedience. God positions our hearts to bless the right people at the right time, revealing His love through us. Credibility comes not from human approval, but from a genuine, surrendered heart aligned with God. Full Transcript Below: Gaining Credibility as a Christian Through a Pure Heart of Love By Keri Eichberger Bible Reading: By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:35) Have you ever felt like someone was questioning your intentions? In the midst of a moment or situation where you were sure your heart was pure. When your soul wanted nothing more than to serve for the good of another or others. And to bless others for the glory of God. Yet, somewhere on the other end, for some reason, that wasn’t what seemed to be perceived. It felt like someone even thought you were doing wrong, something self-focused, or something that certainly wasn’t based on a heart yielded to God’s holy will and way. I was consumed with this same sense last week. God had placed a special someone firmly on my heart a few months back. Someone who needed his blessing in a rich way, in a trying season of her life. And as my plans to help and serve became known, it suddenly seemed there were some skeptical eyes on the sidelines. And if I’m being brutally honest, it pained me deeply. I knew my heart was pure. I knew God had called me to help in this specific way. I had prayed and prayed for his discernment and guidance. For humility, and for the love of Christ to be shown and known. But nonetheless, because of the rocky response, I found myself questioning the call. Questioning my conviction and intention. And so I did all that I knew how to do. Pray, listen, follow the Lord's lead. And to love. John 13:35 says, By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. This reminds me that everyone will know we are truly followers of Christ, that we are filled with Christ, by the love that they see in us. And by the love that flows from us. When people see our love, they will see him. And I don’t know about you, but I want people to see him. So I will continue to love out loud. That is what we all should continue to do. And we should not question our love, or the intention to love, for others. If you are truly seeking the Lord. If you genuinely desire to love the way Jesus would love, and if he is laying specific calls and directions on your heart, trust him. We need not listen to what others say, or what others might think. The enemy will certainly try to confuse and derail our good intentions. The enemy will try to make you cower to bold love. Or any bold action on behalf of Jesus. While I was being bombarded by the enemy’s misleading manipulations, I took some time to reflect, to pray, and to ask God to impress the truth upon my heart. I asked him to remove any thoughts or ideas that were not of him. I asked him to help me love the people in my path. How to best give him all the credit for every act of love and blessing. How to be confident in the particular instructions of love he had just for me. And then for peace that he would work out the details and heal the fractured pieces of every heart involved. And that’s just what he did. He gave me clarity. He gave me peace. He increased my humility to even better reflect his heart. He allowed me to be a beacon of his love light. And above all, he allowed others to see him. Not me, but Jesus. It wasn’t, and isn’t, about me or any of us. It’s never about our glory. It’s always about Jesus and his glory. And so it doesn’t even matter what some may think or say. God will use your pure heart to show his to the exact people who need it. You will gain credibility and be seen rightly, with and by the right people, when you have the right heart. A pure heart that sincerely, vulnerably, and genuinely longs to point others to him, and only to him. Intersecting Faith & Life: Let’s keep loving boldly and serving big in the ways the Lord leads us. With a pure heart. Surrendered and yielded to him. Humbled and bowed down before him. Knowing that he will reveal his goodness and the purity of our hearts to the souls he intends to bless. And those people—his people—will know the truth, will know his love, will come to know him… by our pure and holy hearts of pure and holy love. True Christian love flows from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a genuine faith. Paul contrasts this with the fruitless chatter of false teachers, reminding us that love is the mark of mature belief. When our hearts are right with God, love will overflow into our lives and relationships.
