"We're all Rhodesia now" is more than a provocative statement—it's a warning rooted in one of the 20th century's most misunderstood stories. In this episode of 1819 News: The Podcast, Bryan Dawson sits down with Peter Hammond, who grew up in Rhodesia, to uncover the history of Rhodesia, the birth of Zimbabwe, and why its lessons are becoming increasingly relevant in America and across the Western world. From Ian Smith and the Bush War to communism, Western civilization, South Africa, and the idea of "Global Zimbabwe," this conversation explores one of history's most controversial—and consequential—stories.

WATCH HERE: https://youtu.be/-VPAINp9V6o What does idolatry look like in the modern world? In this challenging presentation, **Dr. Peter Hammond** examines how idolatry extends far beyond carved statues and ancient pagan temples. Modern idols can include political leaders, celebrities, sports personalities, wealth, success, technology, relationships, popular culture and even false ideas of God created to accommodate personal preferences. Drawing from Scripture, Dr. Hammond explores personality cults, emperor worship, political indoctrination, religious pluralism and society's tendency to give created people and things the honour, loyalty and devotion that belong to God alone. The presentation confronts several important questions: What occupies the highest place in our hearts? Have politics, popularity, prosperity or personal comfort become more important than obedience to God? Are we worshipping the God revealed in Scripture—or a god fashioned in our own imagination? Are Christians willing to stand for truth when society pressures them to bow before modern idols? The Bible repeatedly warns against idolatry: "You shall not make for yourself a carved image… you shall not bow down to them nor serve them." — Exodus 20:4–5 "Little children, keep yourselves from idols." — 1 John 5:21 Romans 1 warns that fallen humanity exchanges the truth of God for a lie and worships the creature rather than the Creator. Yet Acts 19 demonstrates that genuine repentance produces decisive action, as new believers destroyed the objects connected to their former idolatry. This presentation is both a warning and a call to self-examination.

Victory Loves Preparation In this challenging Sunday service message at Coastlands Assemblies Church, Dr. Peter Hammond explores the biblical principle that opportunities, responsibilities and influence are entrusted to those who are prepared to use them faithfully. Beginning with the Assyrian challenge to King Hezekiah—"I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able to put riders on them"—Dr. Hammond connects Isaiah 37 with Christ's parable of the minas in Luke 19. While the servants who faithfully multiplied what they had received were given greater responsibility, the servant who failed to act lost even what had been entrusted to him. Through biblical teaching, historical examples and personal missionary experiences, this message emphasises that character, diligence, self-discipline and obedience determine how effectively we can be used in God's service. Opportunities reveal our character, obstacles are meant to be overcome, and hearing God's Word must lead to practical action. Christians are called not merely to admire biblical truth, but to apply it—to resist temptation, develop their gifts, fulfil their responsibilities, defend the faith, serve those in need and complete the work God has placed before them. There are horses for those who can ride them, ministries for those prepared to serve, messages for those ready to deliver them and missions for those determined to complete them. Use your opportunities or lose them. Prepare faithfully, obey courageously and seize the day for the glory of God.

The sermon exposes the pervasive influence of propaganda and ideological indoctrination in modern society, framing it as a spiritual battle against biblical truth. It critiques contemporary media narratives, political correctness, and historical revisionism as tools used to deceive the public and suppress dissenting viewpoints. The speaker argues that these forces aim to erase Christian heritage and distort reality through selective storytelling and demonization of opponents. Emphasizing the necessity of discernment, the text warns against conforming to worldly systems that prioritize comfort over integrity. Ultimately, it calls for a steadfast commitment to historical accuracy and spiritual vigilance in the face of widespread cultural decay. In this insightful presentation by the Reformation Society, the position of women in Islam is examined through the lens of both Islamic sources and a Biblical worldview. The presentation highlights the contrast between the freedom, dignity, and value afforded to women in Christianity and the challenges many women face under Islamic teachings and traditions. It explores important issues relating to marriage, family life, rights, and the treatment of women throughout history and in the modern world. As Christians, we are reminded that all people are created in the image of God and that Christ demonstrated profound love, respect, and compassion toward women. This presentation encourages believers to be informed, to pray for Muslim women, and to share the hope and freedom found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." – John 8:36 Watch, learn, and test all things in the light of God's Word.

This sermon presents a powerful and unflinching portrait of John Knox as a transformative, prophetic figure whose unwavering commitment to biblical truth ignited the Scottish Reformation. Centered on the theological conviction that God's sovereignty supersedes all earthly authority, Knox's ministry was marked by radical resistance to idolatry, unyielding opposition to tyrannical rulers—especially Catholic monarchs—and a bold call for the purification of church and state. Drawing from Scripture, particularly the prophetic tradition and the Reformation solas, he championed a theology of justice, accountability, and the right of the faithful to oppose corrupt power, culminating in the Scots Confession's radical assertion that tyrants are rebels against God and must be overthrown. His life—defined by persecution, exile, and suffering as a galley slave—was a testament to his belief that true faith demands sacrifice, and his legacy is the creation of a nation transformed by the gospel, where church attendance soared and Presbyterianism became the foundation of national identity. Ultimately, Knox's story is one of divine fire, moral courage, and the enduring power of Scripture to reshape a nation. #History #ReformationSociety #FrontlineFellowship WATCH ON YOUTUBE - https://youtu.be/hXol9_Vy0Z0 By: Dr. Peter Hammond https://www.frontlinemissionsa.org/
The sermon powerfully confronts the reality of failure, betrayal, and perseverance in the Christian life, rooted in Jesus' call to radical discipleship and self-denial. It draws from Scripture—Luke 14, Hebrews 10, 2 Timothy, and the parable of the sower—to emphasize that true faith is tested by trials, and that shallow commitment, worldly distractions, and self-centeredness lead to apostasy. Historical examples of faithful pioneers like William Carey, David Livingstone, and Charles Spurgeon illustrate how enduring hardship, rooted in Scripture and humility, produces lasting fruit, while the widespread failure of missionaries and believers throughout history underscores the normality of disloyalty and the need for grace. The central message is that failure need not be final: through repentance, restoration, and reliance on Christ's grace, even those who have fallen can be restored, as seen in the redemption of John Mark. Ultimately, the sermon calls believers to fix their eyes on Jesus, persevere in faith, and embrace the cross, knowing that steadfastness is not natural but a work of God's grace, and that the true measure of a life is not success, but faithfulness to the end.
