Ron Gang, 4X1MK, had his early amateur radio beginnings in Canada, and later immigrated, as part of a group, to Israel in the 1970s, where his amateur radio license, skills, and equipment were highly appreciated and valued.  Always an active amateur radio operator, 4X1MK is willing to try every operating mode. Ron is also a musician and painter who shares his amateur radio story and his perspectives of the amateur radio service in Israel, past and present.

Teddy Kollek un líder sionista e intendente de larga trayectoria, nació en Hungría. La vida temprana de Kollek transcurrió en Viena. En 1934, la familia Kollek emigró a Palestina para escapar de la difusión del nazismo en Austria. En Palestina, Teddy se estableció al norte y ayudó a fundar el Kibbutz Ein Gev en las costas del Kinneret (Mar de Galilea). Vivir cerca del agua tuvo un efecto negativo en su salud y después de una batalla contra el tifus, se mudó a Jerusalén para recuperarse. Este fue el comienzo de su relación con la ciudad capital que luego él transformaría. En 1938, Kollek fue enviado a Inglaterra por el movimiento Habonim para promover las actividades sionistas y promover la aliá. Dos años más tarde, Kollek conoció a David Ben-Gurion en Inglaterra. Ben-Gurion se convirtió en su mentor y finalmente lo convenció a candidatearse como intendente de Jerusalén en 1965 después de trabajar en la oficina del primer ministro por trece años. Kollek ganó las elecciones, y durante los siguientes 28 años modernizó y transformó completamente la ciudad. Panelists: Michael Bagraim, an attorney and member of parliament for the Democratic Alliance, the opposition party, as well as a member and formerly the president of the South African Board of Jewish Deputies Dr Sally Frankental, a retired lecturer in anthropology at the University of Cape Town, and the founding director of the Kaplan Centre for Jewish Studies and Research Doron Isaacs, a social activist and the former head of Habonim, the biggest Jewish Youth Movement in South Africa This season of the Tel Aviv Review is made possible by The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute, which promotes humanistic, democratic, and liberal values in the social discourse in Israel.
