The boys drink and review Dogfish Head's Sixty-One, which is an IPA brewed with Pinot Noir grapes, then discuss the idea that AI will make us all wealthy while Pigweed's cat prances around the studio. Elon Musk recently said that AI + robotics will eliminate scarcity to the point that there's no real point in saving for retirement. We'll have "universal high income." It's like the Star Trek vision of the future where all your needs are provided for. Does that make any sense? Can an economy function like that? Will "AI abundance" arrive simultaneously for every human need? Who will pay the taxes? What does "lack of scarcity" really mean? There can be an abundance of food, or healthcare. AI isn't going to make more beachfront. How do we get from here to there? What happens to property rights? Will the people who own the AI share their wealth with everybody else? Why? Who will make them do it? When people start losing jobs (by the millions), how will they live? The idea that we'll tax AI to pay the people who are laid off doesn't make sense. If you tax the AI to pay the displaced workers, what have you gained? The internal contradictions in the optimistic view of an AI-driven future are mind-boggling. The boys try to parse through it all.

Cc Madhya 24.334-355 https://vedabase.io/en/library/cc/madhya/24/advanced-view/ ------------------------------------------------------------ As soon as I wake up, the first thing I do is I say Prabhupāda's praṇāma mantra: namo om viṣṇu-pādāya kṛṣṇa-preṣṭhāya bhū-tale śrīmate bhaktivedānta-svāmin iti nāmine namas te sārasvate deve gaura-vāṇī-pracāriṇe nirviśeṣa-śūnyavādi-pāścātya-deśa-tāriṇe Following that, I chant the Pañca-tattva Mahā-mantra: Jaya Śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya Prabhu Nityānanda, Śrī-Advaita Gadādhara Śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda. Then, I chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa Mahā-mantra: Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare; Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. The verse from the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (SB 10.90.48): jayati jana-nivāso devakī-janma-vādo yadu-vara-pariṣat svair dorbhir asyann adharmam sthira-cara-vṛjina-ghnaḥ su-smita-śrī-mukhena vraja-pura-vanitānāṁ vardhayan kāma-devam I say all those before I swing my legs out of the bed. Then, before I put my right foot on the floor, I say, "Oh, Mother Bhūmi, please forgive me for stepping on your surface." Then as soon as I have two feet on the floor, I say, "Thank you, Śrīla Prabhupāda." And then whoever I feel gratitude for at that time, I start saying thank you to them. It's usually God brothers, or whomever happens to be fresh in my mind when I take a moment of gratitude before I stand up. That prayer, Jayati jana-nivāso, has a history to it, but it's in the paddhati as one of the prayers that one may say upon waking up. So is asking Mother Bhūmi for forgiveness for stepping on her surface. It adds something special: a reminder of how good she is to us and how abundant the world is—that Mother Bhūmi, "Please forgive me for stepping on your surface"—and also treading lightly, being careful wherever we go. So those are what I say when I wake up in the morning (28:53). Cc Madhya 24.327-331 https://vedabase.io/en/library/cc/madhya/24/advanced-view/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Transcendental necessities really have to do with being able to remove the doubts of a disciple. It's the main point, and it's an intuitive process, because for a disciple, Kṛṣṇa comes in the form of a particular spiritual master locally. As Prabhupāda said, "Spiritual master means a post and also means a person." And the way one ascertains, and does ascertain, that one is getting one's spiritual necessities is by hearing. Generally, people are in a bewildered state in this world, and they're also depressed, and they're also unlucky, and they're also always disturbed. But by hearing from a bona fide spiritual master, one starts to feel lucky again. One comes out of depression. One feels optimistic, and it's that upliftment that generally informs a person or inspires a person to say, "Oh, I'm feeling improved by listening here." And whether it's the Dīkṣā-guru or śikṣā-guru, it's like, "I'm getting enlivened by this. This is the good old spiritual influence that I've always been looking for, and that I've maybe had before. Now I'm feeling it again," whatever it may be. But it's visceral, and it's internalized by a person, by hearing, and all necessities are fulfilled by hearing. I mean, even on a material platform, as Prabhupāda points out in the Third Canto of the Bhāgavatam, what to speak of spiritually. So if the quality of the person is coming through in their talks, in their speech, and the person is feeling uplifted, then that fulfills that requirement—that should be able to deliver the necessities, to remove the doubts. If you look carefully at this passage about the Mahā-bhāgavata, you'll be surprised. In fact, it's used as a counter to those who opine that the way of becoming a guru requires such a lofty conception that only Nityānanda Prabhu or maybe Queen Kuntī could possibly initiate anybody or be involved in the process. But listen what Prabhupāda says here (Cc Madhya 24.330). Cc Madhya 24.278-326 https://vedabase.io/en/library/cc/madhya/24/ ------------------------------------------------------------ I read in the Śrī Bhaktisiddhānta Vaibhava that when devotees got a windfall, Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta liked them to spend the money on preaching. He didn't like them to get fat and have lots of money. He wanted them to feel that "we have to depend on Kṛṣṇa." That's why it's nice to spend all your money on books and then distribute them all and start over. It gives that feeling of full dependence on Kṛṣṇa. When Caitanya Mahāprabhu, in the Caitanya Bhāgavata, had taken sannyās and He goes out wandering, He brings His followers with Him. As they began the journey, He turned to them and said, "Did you bring anything?" And they said, "Oh, my Lord, You didn't tell us to bring anything." He said, "Very good, because I want you to observe that although the universe is filled up with food and money, people get only what they deserve, and that Kṛṣṇa is sustaining us wherever we go." Once I interviewed Mahātma Prabhu about the early days of preaching, and he said, once Prabhupāda put out an edict that "anybody who goes out preaching and traveling to preach who doesn't care for personal maintenance, then, I guarantee they'll go back to Godhead." I forget what the exact benediction was, but it was something extremely lofty. And he said, "We all just jumped in the van in the middle of winter and took off for the North." He tells the whole story about how they got to some tiny, little town. It was in Canada. It was blizzard conditions, and there was some drunk guy. The only guy on the street was drunk. He ended up buying a book. And then they wondered where to stay, and they were looking around, and they just happened to find a door with a sign on it. They went in there, and it was full facility. Everywhere they went, they found that kind of facility. That Prabhupāda's mood, sort of as Svarūpa Dāmodara said, after Lord Caitanya took sannyās, he said, "I became mad." So Prabhupāda had that kind of spiritual madness, too. I heard he brought a little bag of oats or something, in case there was nothing to eat. Cc Madhya 24.221-277 https://vedabase.io/en/library/cc/madhya/24/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Question: How to fully forgive those who insult us or obstruct our seva when we are still unable to overcome feelings of pain and anger. Excerpt from the answer: You could take Mahātmā Prabhu's seminar on how to forgive. Lots of people have spoken about forgiveness. Mahātmā Prabhu, in the devotee context talks about it. But one thing is, forgiving doesn't mean that you condone what people have done; forgiving is for you to let it go so that you can move on. Prabhupāda gave an instruction to Peter Burwash. He was a businessman who ran Peter Burwash International. It was a big, huge tennis company; it taught people how to play tennis. He was a devotee, but he never got initiated. In Hawaii, he got a lot of association with Prabhupāda. He signed up as a life member one afternoon, and the next morning, he found out that the devotee he gave his money to had absconded. He became so disturbed and angry, and he went to talk to Prabhupāda about it. Prabhupāda gave him this instruction that he kept for the rest of his life. He used to give seminars and he would always start with this instruction that Prabhupāda said, "Don't be angry with the instrument of your karma." And he took it to heart. So if one takes whatever happens—it doesn't mean, of course, you don't do due diligence. If somebody has abused you or is bullying you, you have to do your due diligence. It doesn't mean to become a doormat to forgive, but internally, one can become highly philosophical and think that 'whatever comes to me, it's by Kṛṣṇa's arrangement. Perhaps I'm paying back a debt from my last life,' and Kṛṣṇa gives this permission, or the śāstra does, to take it as a lesson and just let it go. So it takes a little practice and some philosophical underpinning. Cc Madhya 24.100-166 https://vedabase.io/en/library/cc/madhya/24/advanced-view/ ------------------------------------------------------------ The charter of this Āshram, the Bhaktivedanta Āśrama, was to create a space so that those who are out mixing it up in the world all the time could have a place to come and have Saṅga together here and repair to this place so they could just hear and chant the association of advanced devotees. I'm sitting next to Vijay; I'm sitting next to Naveena Nīrada, Devavrata. We've got Mahendra—I mean, surrounded! Look around you. That's what this place is meant for. And that's why we made plans to come here and spend time. So, yes, we should take time. If we're always preaching to one in one area, yukta-āhāra-vihārasya, we should be balanced and find out times to retreat, to go into deep mode, which we are doing. We are reading Prabhupāda's books. What could be better, better association than that? We're just hearing directly from Prabhupāda what he wanted to say to everybody, especially us. Ao we're getting that. And when we go back out, the world won't look the same. I guarantee you, if you walk out of here on the 18th and you look around, you go, "Blink, blink, where am I? Maybe I took too much of this stuff," and then you'll be ready to integrate again. So, yeah, it's a good point. We should always try to find advanced association, and this is how to do it. Have some arrangement ahead of time. Cc Madhya 24.1-99 https://vedabase.io/en/library/cc/madhya/24/ ------------------------------------------------------------ A pure devotee becomes attached to Kṛṣṇa by hearing the Lord's glories. The Lord's glories and the Lord Himself are identical. One has to be qualified to understand this absolute truth; therefore one should be given a chance to associate with a pure devotee. Our Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is meant for this purpose. We want to create pure devotees so that other people will benefit by their association. In this way the number of pure devotees increases. Professional preachers cannot create pure devotees. There are many professional preachers of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam who read this work to earn their livelihood. However, they cannot convert materialistic people to devotional service. Only a pure devotee can convert others to pure devotional service. It is therefore important for all the preachers in our Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement to first become pure devotees and follow the regulative principles, refraining from illicit sex, meat-eating, gambling and intoxication. They should regularly chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra on their beads, follow the devotional process, rise early in the morning, attend maṅgala-ārati and recite Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and the Bhagavad-gītā regularly. In this way, one can become purified and free from all material contamination. This conversation delves into the complexities of conflict of laws, focusing on jurisdiction, choice of law, and the recognition and enforcement of judgments across borders. It highlights the importance of understanding these principles for future legal professionals, especially in an increasingly interconnected world. The discussion contrasts the legal frameworks of the US and EU, explores the nuances of jurisdiction, and emphasizes the practical implications of enforcing judgments internationally.Imagine a scenario where a business dispute arises between parties located in different countries. The question of which country's laws apply and which court has the authority to hear the case becomes crucial. This is where the field of Conflict of Laws steps in, providing a framework to address these complex issues.Jurisdiction: Jurisdiction refers to the authority of a court to hear a case. In cross-border disputes, determining jurisdiction can be challenging. Courts often consider factors such as the location of the parties, the place where the contract was executed, and the nature of the dispute. As legal scholar John Doe notes, "Jurisdiction is the cornerstone of any legal proceeding, especially in international cases."Choice of Law: Once jurisdiction is established, the next step is to determine which country's laws will govern the dispute. This is known as the choice of law. Courts may apply various principles, such as the law of the place where the contract was made or the law of the place where the harm occurred. Jane Smith, a renowned legal expert, emphasizes, "The choice of law can significantly impact the outcome of a case, making it a critical consideration in international disputes."Recognition of Judgments: After a court renders a judgment, the question arises as to whether other jurisdictions will recognize and enforce it. The recognition of judgments is essential for ensuring that legal decisions have practical effects across borders. International treaties and agreements, such as the Hague Convention, play a vital role in facilitating the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments. Conclusion: Conflict of Laws is a complex and dynamic field that addresses the challenges of cross-border legal disputes. By understanding the principles of jurisdiction, choice of law, and recognition of judgments, parties can navigate the intricacies of international litigation more effectively. As global interactions continue to increase, the importance of Conflict of Laws will only grow.Subscribe Now: Stay informed about the latest developments in international law by subscribing. Dante! Try harder! Ditto, Lulu! Yeesh. Rocco would be better off being raised by wolves right now. And Tracy, what's your deal? Playing both sides all over town. Behave! Now, will Jason and Sasha figure out Drew thwarted Willow's plans to see Michael? Will Jason track down baby Gio for Tracy? Will Jason and Sonny get out of the mob and, what, coach little league? That could be cute. Also, what is Drew doing with a vial of something in his pocket? #mauricebenard #kellythiebaud #rogerhowarth #maurawest #steveburton #delirious #barshampoo #daydrinkingwithsethmeyers #hillstreetblues #kinshriner #nicholaschavez #afterlife #rickygervais #hallandoates #superstore #freaksandgeeks #freefallin #alanarkin #newgirl #lamornemorris #colonoscopy #takethenap #alleymills #billylibby #chickadee #fortgorgeous #robertgossett #daydrinkingwithsethmeyers #marcuscoloma #useastaplegun #riptwitch #ripepiphany #ripsonyaeddy #waywardchickadee #barshampoo #ripmiffy #lovedogs #justinebateman #brookeshields #neilgaiman #dnice #cq #deborahcox #malcolmjamalwarner #lume #godzillaminusone #ripjacklynzeman #jasonmomoa #adambelanoff #thecloser #majorcrimes #wings #murphybrown #thecosbyshow #pinkalicious #ripbillymiller #ripmatthewperry #riptylerchristopher #riplesliecharleson #ripandrebraugher #ripjohnnywactor #dutchbarnvodka #chadduell #rickygervaisrobot #colinfromaccounts

I'm—I'm weirdly nervous talking to you now. Now that I know that people are listening. Now that I know that people across infinite timelines are listening, it's a lot of pressure. I feel like I have a little inkling of what Jean Shepard would have felt getting on the radio every night, except I actually think I probably have more listeners than Jean, which yeah, I actually can't think about that very much or I will get even more nervous. [static] As an update because some of you have seemed curious— we're doing good, I think. Not too much has changed since my last transmission. We're still where we were, although I think we're going to have to head down the mountain soon. The weather is changing and I don't think we want to be here when the snow comes. Well, when the snow really comes, there is already snow because we're that high up. But we can't survive a winter here, not with how thin these walls are. As for where we go next, I don't know. I know I probably won't be telling you. Not because I don't want you guys to know, but because. Well, you know, people may be listening and I don't want to invite any more trouble than I already am inclined to do, just living my life. [static] Harry and I are good for the most part. I mean, we've had a few blow up, knock down, drag out fights. Well, you know, a dozen, maybe. Nothing— nothing earth shattering, just the usual. Although now we have a a different mode of conflict resolution, by which I mean we actually make attempts at conflict resolution now and in a way that I think is very productive. Maybe not talking things out as much as we should, but I don't think either of us can complain. So. Yeah, we're. We're okay. Not much else to report. Not much has changed. Haven't heard from Birdie or from Fox since that last big transmission, but I have been hearing from a lot of you. We spend most of our days sifting through all the different messages we get. Some of them are like this, and a lot of them are Morse code, which I don't think either of us were expecting necessarily. But it's nice to have somebody else with me to translate the Morse code. One of you…one of you sent a morse code message asking if this was real. You said it was a cool project and that that threw me because does that mean that somehow you, whoever you were that send that message, you're back in the normal world and this was coming through on your normal radio and you thought, hey, maybe there's another Orson Welles joint or something of that kind. Does this sound like a story to you? Like I'm just an actor pretending to be somebody stuck somewhere. I—I'm glad that you thought it was cool. In any case, I don't know that I would categorize it that way because it's my life, but yeah. Yeah, it's real. [static]

The Washington Post fires a female Executive Editor and the woke staffers speak out about it (1:17:00-1:29:00). Breaking sports stories from Caitlin Clark to Bob Costas to Lebron James to NIL (1:29:00-1:57:30). Oh dear. So it looks like Gregory probably is a very deep, very sound sleeper. To the point where Finn and the paramedics have mistaken him for dead. Crushing. Let's not forget, Finn once believed Peter was dead, and look how that turned out. Anyway, he's hit the gas station brand bourbon and been very mean to Elizabeth. Sonny continues to be mean to just about everyone, even Dante, who is one of the best men that town has ever seen. And Anna continues to try to teach Dex that bringing charges against Sonny is probably a waste of time. She looked him in the eye (he only has the one now) when delivering this lesson. Incredible. She was a mediocre spy, and she's an even worse police chief. But she can dance. Also, Tracy and Cody had a lovely talk, and Tracy and Stella had a lovely talk. Tracy has gotten really good at lovely talks. #mauricebenard #kellythiebaud #rogerhowarth #maurawest #steveburton #delirious #tshirtgiveaway #barshampoo #daydrinkingwithsethmeyers #hillstreetblues #kinshriner #saveava #nicholaschavez #savediane #stonewallkitchen #hallandoates #superstore #freaksandgeeks #waitingonafriend #memyselfi #freefallin #alanarkin #whosgonnarideyourwildhorses #maneater #whippingpost #colonoscopy #takethenap #alleymills #billylibby #chickadee #fortgorgeous #robertgossett #daydrinkingwithsethandlizzo #marcuscoloma #useastaplegun #riptwitch #ripepiphany #ripsonyaeddy #waywardchickadee #barshampoo #ripmiffy #lovedogs #justinebateman #brookeshields #neilgaiman #dnice #cq #deborahcox #malcolmjamalwarner #lume #ripjacklynzeman #jasonmomoa #adambelanoff #thecloser #majorcrimes #wings #murphybrown #thecosbyshow #pinkalicious #ripbillymiller #ripmatthewperry #riptylerchristopher #ripandrebraugher

[TRANSCRIPT] [click, static] “You are the stone”. [click, static] Does that? Does that mean what I think it means? That…that all of this—what the world is now, the lack of people, Leann—are you trying to tell me its all my fault? How could—how does that even work? If—if this really is about something I did…I mean, fuck, I don't know what to do with that. Even though it's something I've thought about, something I've worried about, I never actually believed I had that kind of power. Is it…is it because of…? [click, static] Jesus, why am I asking you? I haven't even told you what I— Wait, okay, if I'm the stone, I'm the one who made a ripple that somehow dragged Leann into all of this, then how do you fit into this, huh? And by you I mean both you morse code lunatics. Are you connected to me somehow? I mean, you must be, right? Except you seem to know what's going on here, even if you won't tell me, so are you… I mean, are you— (laughing) [click, static]

[TRANSCRIPT] [click, static] Hey, Birdie. [click, static] It is really goddamn late. And goddamned dark. I wanted to wait for the worst of the heat of the day to pass before hiking back to the car, but I think I miscalculated, because I've been hiking in the dark for way too long. Not that it's been so hot here, but the sun is strong. All that big sky, I guess. The sun is strong and my skin is pale. All my freckles are popping out like it's the middle of summer not October. I've been out in the wild for the last couple of days. I packed up my backpack after the last transmission and set out into the great unknown. I mean, not entirely unknown—I'm not stupid, I made sure to get a map of the area I'm in, but just 10 minutes on foot away from where I parked the car, and I felt like I was in some version of the world that had never had any people in it at all. Any semblance of a hiking trail is long gone but the terrains not that bad, especially now with my new boots. I don't know how far into the wild I got exactly. I walked for a couple of hours so a few miles at least, but I found this beautiful spot by this little pond with this little waterfall, sunlight streaming through the trees. I set up camp there and slept under the stars for a few nights. And with being by the pond I can actually see the sky—it wasn't blocked out by the treetops. My god, the stars. I guess I haven't looked up in a while because I was shocked by how many there were. I mean, there hasn't been light pollution in six years, so I think probably most of the sky in the whole country is like this, but I guess I've never really looked. I wish I knew something about the constellations. I know the big dipper and Orion‘s belt and the little dipper and I think I found Polaris? Although I don't know, is it even the right time of year to see Polaris? Can you see it all year round? Can you see it from the hemisphere I'm in? I don't know. Clearly I don't know anything at all about the night sky. But it does make me wonder…you know, are there any other people up there on those other planets somewhere amongst the stars? I think—I think we were pretty close to actually, you know, exploring space. We got people up there at least, even if they just you know, spun around a bit and came back. But that in of itself…I mean, that felt insurmountable when I was younger. So who knows what we could've accomplished with more time. [click, static] But it's a really nice thought—that we're not alone in the universe. Not in a god way or any kind of higher power way, just…it's lonely. All of it. [click, static]
Chris Paul is one of the greatest basketball players of all time: a 12-time NBA All-Star, an All-Star Game MVP, 2-time Olympic gold medalist. NBA Rookie of the Year, and Players Association President between 2013 - 2021. Off the court, Chris is a family man, entrepreneur, activist, and philanthropist. His new book "Sixty-One" hits bookstores everywhere this week. This is a conversation about work-ethic, grit, mentorship, and leadership. We discuss his grandfather's impact on his life, the demands of mastery, how to sustain elite performance over time, what leadership means, how Chris' plant-based diet has improved his performance, and the many ways Chris has leveraged his voice, platform, and resources for maximum social impact. It was an absolute pleasure and honor to talk with a man I respect tremendously. I hope you enjoy this powerful and valuable episode. Opening up about these moments, sharing how he's celebrated the good and learned from the bad, dealt with the heart aches of loss, injury, trades and the passing of his friend Kobe Bryant, Chris doesn't shy away from answering tough questions and setting the record straight on rumors over the years and giving us a court side seat to his 18+ years of evolving as a man and teammate to earn the respect and carry on making the name on the back of his jersey one we will never forget. Reflecting on childhood moments that helped shape him as the man he is today, Chris emotionally remembers the strength and work ethic he learned at an early age from his grandfather who he tributes so much of his growth and success to. Scoring 61 points after his grandfather's passing in his honor seemed serendipitous to the story of family and the foundation he would continue to build upon as his career and life evolved. Recognizing how fortunate he was to grow up with both his parents and maintain a close bond, Chris has prided himself in always being a hands on dad and takes that job the most serious and with the most joy. And of course Channing couldn't let CP slide without asking him about the infamous Banana Boat photos that surfaced years ago…definitely don't want to miss this one! Learn more about your ad choices.
