The last episode before summer break ends on a high note. If Isaiah 34 depicts a world overrun by the sin's curse, then Isaiah 35 depicts a world overrun by salvation's joy. Alex, Jim, and Sam discuss.

What do they reveal about God's character? Grow G1 Have you ever experienced a “desert season” spiritually or emotionally? What did it feel like, and where (if anywhere) did you see signs of “blossoming”? G2 Isaiah says, “Strengthen the feeble hands… steady the knees that give way.” What does it practically look like to strengthen one another in faith during hard seasons? G3 The message says not just to affirm fear, but to speak truth: “Be strong, do not fear… your God will come.” How do we balance compassion with calling each other to truth? G4 What are some “strongholds” or recurring thoughts that you personally need to take captive (2 Corinthians 10)? What helps you do that? G5 Jesus says, “I am the way…” (John 14:6). Where are you most tempted to treat Jesus as a way instead of the way in your life? G6 Walking the “Highway of Holiness” involves both stopping and starting things. What is one specific step of obedience God might be inviting you into right now? Show S1 Who is someone you can intentionally “strengthen” this week—through encouragement, prayer, or practical help—and what will you do for them?

Listen along as we begin a 3 week series on the kingdom of God. Notes//Quotes: Text: Isaiah 35:1-10 Title: Kingdom Promised “The God in whom we believe is the creator of the world, will one day put this world to rights. That solid belief is the bedrock of all Christian faith. God is not going to abolish the universe of space, time and matter; he is going to renew it, to restore it, to fill it with new joy and purpose and delight, to take from it all that has corrupted it. ‘The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom, and rejoice with joy and singing; the desert shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water.' The last book of the Bible ends, not with the company of the saved being taken up into heaven, but with the New Jerusalem coming down from heaven to earth, resulting in God's new creation, new heavens and new earth, in which everything that has been true, lovely, and of good report will be vindicated, enhanced, set free from all pain and sorrow. God himself, it says, will wipe away all tears from all eyes.” - N.T. Wright “From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17) “Go and tell John what you hear and see: 5 the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. 6 And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.” (Matt. 11:5&6) “This is a story of a man who is disillusioned with Jesus just like we are sometimes–with Jesus or with God, or with the church, or with the whole Christian faith. But, you know something? That may not be so bad as it seems. Disillusionment means literally to have our illusions “dissed.” It's very painful, but it's not a bad thing. Disillusionment can be a gift. When we are disillusioned we have discovered that God does not always conform to our expectations. We look at our requirements for God and begin to see our own selfish illusions–the kinds of things we tell ourselves to feel good or comfortable, or to make sense of it all. But when God yanks away our illusions, we are free to discover the real God. Taylor says, “Every letdown becomes a lesson and a lure. Did God fail to come when I rubbed the lantern? Then perhaps God is not a genie? Who then is God? Did God fail to punish my enemies? Then perhaps God is not a cop. Who, then, is God? Did God fail to make everything run smoothly? Then, perhaps God is not a [cosmic] mechanic. Who, then, is God?” When God does not meet my expectations I am drawn deeper and deeper into the mystery of who God really is and what God is really doing in my life and in the world. - Leonard J. Vander Zee “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” (Matt. 6:10-13)

The unfortunate reality is that God does allow hard times to come our way. He does. The reason He does so is to grow our faith and trust in Him. It is so detrimental to our growth as Christians that we trust God to come to our rescue, whether it be physical protection or mental peace during turmoil. In today's message, Pastor Mark will share a little bit of how God came through for him when he trusted His guidance. God will show up; He never leaves His children alone or abandoned. So, whatever you may be going through, remember that God is with you always and will save you in your time of need!
Just like we'll see with Hezekiah, God sometimes allows difficult things to happen so His faithfulness can shine through! God uses hardships to shape us and to reveal His goodness to us and to those who witness what is happening. Our lives, including the ups and downs, are a testament to God's goodness! In today's message, Pastor Mark will remind you that when people question or challenge your beliefs, God will back you 100% of the time! When hard times come, and they will come, people will ask where your God is, and the way you allow God to shape you will be proof of His love and faithfulness!!!
The world can be a scary place; lots of things happen that can be detrimental to our way of life and to our peace. But the Lord says not to be fearful! There is no reason to fear the things of this world, because He is always in control and His plan will come to fruition! God remains in control no matter what happens!!! In today's message, Pastor Mark will encourage you through whatever it is you may be facing. God is in control! There is no reason to fear any disasters because God is the god of peace and protection! If you've accepted Jesus, there is a place for you in heaven; death isn't in your future!!!
In this Christmas sermon from Isaiah 35, Pastor Jared Richard used the universal desire to go home for the holidays as a gateway to discuss our deeper spiritual longing for our true home with God. He explained that Isaiah 35 describes two contrasting places - the wilderness and desert representing our current broken world, versus the paradise of Lebanon, Carmel, and Sharon representing the home God has prepared for us. Pastor Richard walked through multiple layers of this prophetic passage, beginning with God's promise to bring exiled Israel home from Babylon, then expanding to humanity's exile from Eden due to sin, and ultimately pointing to Jesus as the solution. He emphasized that Jesus willingly left his perfect home in heaven, was born in exile-like conditions in a stable, was rejected by his own people, and died on the cross bearing our judgment so that we could return home to the Father. The sermon concluded with three applications: receiving the hope of Christ's salvation, following Christ's example in reconciling broken relationships, and rejoicing with fellow believers as we journey toward our eternal home together. "Home" is an idea that has captivated the popular imagination. We all long for home, even if we find it hard to describe. In Isaiah 35, we see a restored vision of God, our home, and our very lives through the long-awaited King.

At Redeemer, we take seriously Jesus' call to "Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Apprenticeship to Jesus is not a one time decision, but a lifelong journey of following Jesus as our master-teacher. Since the goal of the Christian life is maturity in Jesus, apprenticeship must be deep and holistic, transforming the spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and vocational parts of men and women. Apprenticeship to Jesus is learning to practice the way of Jesus in our homes, relationships, neighborhoods, and jobs. We believe Christlikeness is cultivated as we implement spiritual practices, live in community with other believers, and submit to the Word and the Spirit. We agree with Dallas Willard who said, "that the gospel is opposed to earning, not effort." As we move towards cultivating a life of loving God and people, we trust Christ will mature us into his likeness. https://redeemerwichita.church/
The Rev. Nick Lannon preaches a sermon on Isaiah 35, in which the prophet sees a time when those estranged from God by sin will be welcomed home, on account of Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 35 paints a picture of joy breaking through and hope taking root, even in the middle of waiting. In this sermon, Pastor Dan invites us into that vision, reflecting on Advent as a season shaped by anticipation, longing, and trust in God's faithfulness. Through story, scripture, and honest reflection, we're reminded that God is at work restoring what feels broken and that a day is coming when sorrow and sighing will fade away. This message encourages us to hold onto hope, remain open to transformation, and live with our eyes fixed on the promises still unfolding.

What is the highway of holiness? What is the meaning of Isaiah 35:8? Will there literally be a highway of holiness?
When we last left Ezekiel, the Lord had given him prophetic acts to perform before the people of Jerusalem. In one he drew the city of Jerusalem on a brick and then laid siege to it. In another, he was commanded to lay on his left side for 390 days, and then 40 days on his right, all while eating bread baked over cow dung. Today, at the Lord's direction, Ezekiel shaves his head and beard, a look that was considered shameful, and then proceeds to destroy most of the hair that had been removed. Later, Ezekiel is carried away in a vision given a tour of Jerusalem's detestable acts of idolatry.Ezekiel 5 - 1:12 . Ezekiel 6 - 5:31 . Ezekiel 7 - 9:48 . Ezekiel 8 - 16:17 .
