The Rev. Nick Lannon preaches a sermon on Isaiah 35, in which the prophet sees a time when those estranged from God by sin will be welcomed home, on account of Jesus Christ.
Charlie Peterson preached on Isaiah 35 on the Third Sunday in Advent on December 14th.
Isaiah 35 paints a picture of joy breaking through and hope taking root, even in the middle of waiting. In this sermon, Pastor Dan invites us into that vision, reflecting on Advent as a season shaped by anticipation, longing, and trust in God's faithfulness. Through story, scripture, and honest reflection, we're reminded that God is at work restoring what feels broken and that a day is coming when sorrow and sighing will fade away. This message encourages us to hold onto hope, remain open to transformation, and live with our eyes fixed on the promises still unfolding.

Biblical joy is not denial or optimism, but resilient trust in God's faithfulness. This Advent sermon from Isaiah 35 invites listeners to choose joy in the wilderness through gratitude, service, and generosity while living toward God's promised future.
As we hear Isaiah 35, we're reminded that God speaks hope into places that look completely broken. This promise of streams in the desert and a clear, holy way was given to people facing loss, exile, and devastation—and it tells us that dryness, sorrow, and despair do not last forever. Even when we feel worn down, lost, or unsure of the path ahead, God is still at work, making a way where there seems to be none. Advent invites us to trust that joy will return, restoration is coming, and God keeps His promises. So we keep walking, even when it's hard, believing that sorrow and sighing will not have the final word.Shameless plug: here's a link to Method(ist) to the Madness, our new, hopefully entertaining podcast about church history. - https://methodisttothemadness.buzzsprout.com/Join us for our daily reflections with Andy. Isaiah 35 | Home | Johnny Kurcina | December 14, 2025 All humans have a desire for home, a longing to be in the place and with the people that feels like “home,” especially for the holidays. But this innate desire is part of a longing for a home we are truly made for. In […]
Jesus brings us from barrenness to flourishing Jesus brings us from brokenness to wholeness Jesus brings us from bondage to freedom Jesus brings us from sorrow to joy
John the Baptist sends his disciples to ask Jesus if he is the one to come. John has found himself imprisoned while pursing obedience to the Lord. He has also wanted his disciples to leave him and follow Jesus. What are we to make of John's question? Is he question Jesus' messiahship? Or is he wanting his own disciples to hear from Jesus' lips what he is doing? Either way, we are given encouragement to know the work of the Lord and how he continues to work in our own lives to change and renew us while we await his coming.Image: The Beheading of St. John the Baptist, Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Daily Morning Prayer (12/11/25) from Trinity Anglican Church (Connersville, IN): Psalms 56-58; Isaiah 35; Acts 11; Metrical Psalm 30:6-106 But I in prosp'rous days presumed; no sudden change I feared, Whilst in my sunshine of success no low'ring cloud appeared. 7 But soon I found thy favor, Lord, my empire's only trust; For when thou hid'st thy face, I saw my honor laid in dust. 8 Then, as I vainly had presumed, my error I confessed; And thus, with supplicating voice, thy mercy's throne addressed: 9 "What profit is there in my blood, congealed by death's cold night? Can silent ashes speak thy praise, thy wondrous truth recite?" 10 "Hear me, O Lord; in mercy, hear: thy wonted aid extend; Do thou send help, on whom alone I can for help depend."If you find this ministry edifying, please consider making a one-time donation or becoming a regular contributor here: https://trinityconnersville.com/give/To read along, visit: https://ie.dailyoffice1662.com/To sing along with the Brady and Tate Metrical Psalter, visit: https://www.friendsofsabbath.org/cgmusic.com/workshop/newver_frame.htmTo own a Bible, visit: https://www.thomasnelsonbibles.com/product/kjv-center-column-reference-bible-with-apocrypha/To own a prayer book, visit: https://anglicanway.org/product/the-1662-book-of-common-prayer-international-edition-hardcover-march-2-2021/To own a hymnal, visit: https://anglicanhousepublishers.org/shop/the-book-of-common-praise-of-the-reformed-episcopal-church/
