Proverbs 16:25 tells us, "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." How easily any one of us can fall into and travel along this pathway of what seems right to us. Our reason is brought into play. To reason is the ability of the mind to think, process, and make judgments, or decisions about what to believe or what to do. All of this is affected by something, or some things, or more importantly, someone or other. Human reason is not evil, it is just flawed, marked by the effect of sin. This Proverb reveals something very dangerous and very dark about human reason. “There is a way that seemeth right…” literally means “straight” and it could be the right way, but obviously if it leads to death and not life it is the wrong way. The difference is the heart's desire. Who does the person desire to please? Who is the driver of this life? Self or God? Isaiah 35 tells us about "the way of holiness," which is not that which seemeth right to man, but that which is right to God. This is the way we must choose!

Psalms and Wisdom: Psalm 127 Psalm 127 (Listen) Unless the Lord Builds the House A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon. 127 Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.2 It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep. 3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children1 of one's youth.5 Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! Will you plead the case for God?9 Will it be well with you when he searches you out? Or can you deceive him, as one deceives a man?10 He will surely rebuke you if in secret you show partiality.11 Will not his majesty terrify you, and the dread of him fall upon you?12 Your maxims are proverbs of ashes; your defenses are defenses of clay. 13 “Let me have silence, and I will speak, and let come on me what may.14 Why should I take my flesh in my teeth and put my life in my hand?15 Though he slay me, I will hope in him;1 yet I will argue my ways to his face.16 This will be my salvation, that the godless shall not come before him.17 Keep listening to my words, and let my declaration be in your ears.18 Behold, I have prepared my case; I know that I shall be in the right.19 Who is there who will contend with me? For then I would be silent and die.20 Only grant me two things, then I will not hide myself from your face:21 withdraw your hand far from me, and let not dread of you terrify me.22 Then call, and I will answer; or let me speak, and you reply to me.23 How many are my iniquities and my sins? For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert;7 the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water; in the haunt of jackals, where they lie down, the grass shall become reeds and rushes. 8 And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray.19 No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk there.10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Footnotes [1] 35:8 Or if they are fools, they shall not wander in it (ESV) Gospels and Epistles: 1 John 5 1 John 5 (Listen) Overcoming the World 5 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? Testimony Concerning the Son of God 6 This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. 9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. 11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. That You May Know 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. 16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God1 will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. 17 All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death. 18 We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him. 19 We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Footnotes [1] 5:16 Greek he (ESV)

Ezekiel 5 - 1:12 . Ezekiel 6 - 5:31 . Ezekiel 7 - 9:48 . Ezekiel 8 - 16:17 . Isaiah 35 - 20:51 . When we last left Ezekiel, the Lord had given him prophetic acts to perform before the people of Jerusalem. In one he drew the city of Jerusalem on a brick and then laid siege to it. In another, he was commanded to lay on his left side for 390 days, and then 40 days on his right, all while eating bread baked over cow dung. Today, at the Lord's direction, Ezekiel shaves his head and beard, a look that was considered shameful, and then proceeds to destroy most of the hair that had been removed. Later, Ezekiel is carried away in a vision given a tour of Jerusalem's detestable acts of idolatry.:::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by Bobby Brown, Katelyn Pridgen, Eric Williamson & the Christian Standard Biblefacebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org
