Are you looking for life and coming up empty? Maybe you've tried to pour yourself into your work, and found that it is just exhausting. So you turn to family and find that frustrating. Maybe a hobby, but who really has the time? We are looking for life in all the wrong places.Enter Jesus and The Gospel of John.Jesus was John's best friend and Lord. John writes, “That you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, and that by believing, you may have LIFE in His name.” And there it is - our great desire - LIFE! Not simply heart beating and breathing and going about the day. But a life of energy, vitality, and joy. A truly abundant life. John isn't writing so that we will survive in Jesus's name. He is writing so that we will thrive in Jesus's name. How?By knowing, understanding, and ultimately believing in Jesus. The entire gospel of John, everything that is written, is to help us get a clear picture of who Jesus is and why Jesus matters. So, for you - are tired of reaching for life and coming up empty? Are you tired of reaching for life in something temporary only to watch it go away over time? Jesus is not just life now, but abundant life for all eternity. If you want to know God, if you want to know life, then know Jesus. That is the purpose of the gospel of John, and that is what we will look at over the next several weeks as we seek to understand Jesus and come to believe in His name and have life in His name.
Jesus is rejected in his hometown—not because he lacks power, but because their hearts are closed. People's unbelief doesn't change who Jesus is. Jesus is our Savior even when he's misunderstood. Our doubts or other people's opinions don't cancel Jesus' authority or compassion. God doesn't measure you by how others respond to you. Our job is not to control outcomes; it's to trust and obey. God loves working through everyday faithfulness.Series Summary: Fast-paced, urgent, and relentlessly focused on Jesus, the Gospel of Mark shows us not just what Jesus said, but what he did. Written for a Roman world hungry for power, Mark introduces a surprising King - one who comes to serve, to suffer, and to give his life for many. Over the coming weeks, we'll walk this road with Jesus, from the wilderness to the cross, discovering how the Servant-King's actions reveal the true good news - and what it means to follow him as disciples who take up our own cross and trust him with our lives.Add St. Marcus as your church on the Church Center App!Fill out our online connection cardHow can we pray for you? The Gospel still works. Jesus still saves. And His call hasn't changed: Come to Me. Pastor Ryan Deas reminds us that the power of God is released through faith in God. The enemy is after your ears—because faith comes by hearing. This message exposes distraction, challenges surface-level Christianity, and pushes us back to raw trust in Jesus. It's not about fixing yourself before coming. It's about coming to Jesus and letting His voice transform you. Guilt, shame, failure? Bring it to Him. Whether you're the prodigal, the paralyzed, or the woman caught in the act—Jesus doesn't condemn. He heals. He delivers. He saves.Key Scriptures:Romans 1:16–17Romans 3:3–28John 8 (The woman caught in adultery)Matthew 11:28Luke 5 (The paralyzed man)Core Messages:The Gospel is the power of God for those who believe. You can't clean yourself up—come as you are.Faith activates the power of salvation, deliverance, and righteousness.Hearing God personally is essential; no one can do it for you.The devil's biggest trick: get you to stay away from Jesus.Don't run from conviction—run to Him.

In this episode, I sit down with Brian Blount, a leading scholar on the Gospel of Mark, the Book of Revelation, and biblical hermeneutics. We dive deep into Jesus as a boundary breaker, the radical nature of his ministry, and how we as believers are called to live that out today. Brian unpacks the cultural and theological context of these books, reveals why the ending of Mark is so abrupt, and shares insights on how Revelation still speaks to us today. If you've ever wondered how to interpret these books or how to break boundaries in your faith, this episode is for you! __________________________________________________________ Ready for more? During the Last Supper with his disciples, Jesus rose from the table, poured a basin of water, and began to wash their feet. This prompts an awkward exchange with Peter, where he first denies the Lord the opportunity to wash his feet, then asks him to wash all of him. Jesus concludes by commanding the disciples to do for one another what he had done to them. This sermon unpacks the meaning of both the foot washing itself and Jesus' command that his followers should continue to do as he had done.
The Authority of Jesus, The Gospel of Mark
When Jesus rode into Jerusalem on what's now known as “Palm Sunday,” he was greeted by crowds that were filled with nationalistic fervor. They ignored Jesus' true mission to lay down his life and they tried to make him king on their own terms. But Jesus wouldn't stoop to their demands. He wouldn't save the Jews from the Gentiles; he would give his life to save both Jews and Gentiles.
As the Passover approaches, many people gather in Jerusalem, and the religious leaders plan to arrest Jesus. Jesus goes to Bethany, where He is honored with a dinner at the home of Lazarus. During the meal, Mary anoints Jesus' feet with expensive perfume, a gesture of love and preparation for His burial. Judas criticizes her for wasting the perfume, but Jesus commends her.

What happens next is both awkward and uncomfortable, yet profoundly beautiful, as Jesus encounters a woman publicly known as a sinner. The Jewish crowds of Jerusalem have rejected Jesus' divine identity once and for all. They refuse to believe in spite of many miraculous works that prove his power and authority. Jesus is the giver of eternal life, but they don't want a messiah who doesn't play by their rules. Jesus departs Jerusalem for the Jordan, and many who followed John the Baptist believe in him there.

Jesus said, “Follow me.” This is one of the foundational statements for the Christian life. On the one hand, it's simple enough for a child to understand in a game of Follow the Leader. But at the same time, the call is big enough to reorient our entire lives. Join us this Sunday, as we discover what it means to become a follower of Jesus.

In John 18 Jesus is betrayed and arrested. The story reveals the central theme of the gospel of John. What does it mean to see Jesus as he truly is?
The Gospel of Luke is the most comprehensive writings of the life & ministry of Jesus. It's been called the most beautiful book ever written. One of Luke's interest in writing this book was to show that Jesus loved all kinds of people. The theme of joy is felt throughout the book, as Jesus ' coming brought joy as well as hope and salvation to a sinful world. Jesus is chronicled in every aspect as a healer, miracle worker, servant, teacher, Savior and King.
