Be Filled By the Spirit | Ephesians 5:15-21 | Pastor Ben Nistor | May 25, 2025

In this sermon on Ephesians 5:15–21, Pastor Ben Nistor explores what it means to “be filled by the Spirit”—not just indwelt at salvation, but continually influenced and controlled by the Holy Spirit in daily life. Paul contrasts this Spirit-filling with drunkenness, urging believers to surrender their will, emotions, and desires to God so the Spirit can lead them in wisdom, worship, and obedience. Unlike the indwelling of the Spirit (which happens once at salvation), being filled is a repeated, ongoing action. The results of a Spirit-filled life include wise and careful living, redeeming the time, understanding God's will, worshipful speech, gratitude in all circumstances, and humble submission to others. We're challenged to reflect on what areas of our lives still need to come under God's control, to let Scripture dwell in us richly, to guard our speech, and to seek God's filling through prayer and obedience. Will you invite the Holy Spirit to influence your life this week? ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_24427f8a0fe0457dbe9bbe96d678069d.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_bf5d0acfc5774de095d4ef3d3243d292.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

Christians today can dangerously emphasize the extraordinary signs of the Holy Spirit to the woeful neglect of the Spirit's ordinary signs. In this sermon, The Ordinary Signs of the Spirit, Pastor Ben Nistor unpacks John 16:4–15 to reveal how the Spirit works in ordinary, yet powerful ways. While some today focus on dramatic, miraculous experiences, the Bible emphasizes the Spirit's ongoing ministry—convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, guiding believers into truth, glorifying Jesus, and transforming hearts through sanctification. These are the ordinary and ongoing signs that the Spirit is present and active in His people. Pentecost is more than a historical event—it's a powerful reminder of the Holy Spirit's ongoing presence and work in the lives of believers. In this sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman explores why the coming of the Holy Spirit is essential to God's plan of salvation. While we rightly celebrate Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection, Pentecost highlights the often-overlooked work of the Spirit, who empowers, convicts, comforts, and guides us into all truth. From the Old Testament's promises to Jesus' own words, Scripture reveals that the Spirit was always part of God's redemptive plan. Yet many neglect or misunderstand the Holy Spirit. This message brings biblical clarity, reminding us that the Spirit testifies to Christ, dwells in us, and enables us to live obedient, Spirit-filled lives. As believers, we ought to grow in awareness of the Spirit's presence, recognizing His power in our daily walk, and drawing comfort from knowing God is always at work—even when unseen. May we be encouraged into deeper faith, love, and obedience as we grow in our relationship with the Triune God.

Pastor Andrew Coleman continues his sermon series, "After the Resurrection," by preaching from John 21:9–17. In this powerful message, we revisit Jesus' restorative encounter with Peter after the resurrection. Around a charcoal fire—echoing the place of Peter's denial—Jesus extends forgiveness, grace, and a renewed calling. Rather than condemning Peter, Jesus meets him in his shame and gently restores him with the question, “Do you love me?” This sermon explores the depth of Christ's mercy and how He transforms our failures into opportunities for faithful service. From this passage, we see that Jesus not only forgives but also invites us into His kingdom work. Believers are challenged to reflect: Are you receiving God's grace over your guilt? Does your love for Christ show through your obedience? Is your walk with Him growing and maturing like Peter's did? No matter your past, Jesus calls you forward—with grace, purpose, and hope. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_735e6245581a45d0b5e6e8b3be9e73f9.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_b35c9c80675b4a84960061d490bab9c9.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

Luke 24 retells the account of Jesus's resurrection. From this passage we learn that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was all part of God's plan for Jesus. Even though the disciples did not initially believe, Jesus walks with them in their sorrow, struggle, and doubt. Sometimes we hope for the wrong things, like the disciples hoped for Jesus to redeem them from Rome's oppression. And yet, Jesus does redeem his disciples from their own sin. In the end, God is the one who opens the minds and hearts of people. Christ calls all people to repent and believe the Gospel. When a person does that, they experience the joy of God's salvation. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_248ac1f1ac444e7894ce929122f2ea91.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_f567233fdfd344db9285265379a5348f.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

In this passage, Paul writes to the Corinthian church and commends to them the Macedonian believers, who have demonstrated immense generosity with both their lives AND their finances. In this passage, several qualities in the Macedonian believers should impact US as we seek to live for Christ. Even in the midst of deep affliction and poverty, the Macedonians demonstrated sacrificial generosity with eagerness, joy, and compassion. They desired to give themselves first to God and then to those around them. Pastor Andrew examines the Parable of the Prodigal Son, not just as a story of one wayward child but of two rebellious sons and a gracious father. It first highlights the burdens of being lost—shamelessness, desperation, and selfish envy—before revealing the joy of redemption. True joy begins when a sinner recognizes their desperate state, repents, and returns to God, mirroring the theme of joy in Jesus' parables of the Lost Sheep and Lost Coin. God delights in redeeming sinners, purchasing them with Christ's blood, and this joy motivated Jesus to endure the cross (Hebrews 12:2). Believers are called to share in this joy, celebrating salvation rather than responding with the self-righteous resentment of the older brother. Pastor Andrew extends an invitation to repentance and a challenge to join God in His mission of redemption. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_c2187764e1b34b0f9c9363838dbdd0e6.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_9778040724434049a1fd8dc54d4842c5.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

Everyone is responsible for their own actions in response to God's Word. Whenever people persist in rebellion they pay a very heavy price. What does it mean to walk in wisdom? Ephesians 5:17 answers that question by telling us it is to "understand what the will of the Lord is". This passage continues to outline several specific ways for believers to walk in wisdom toward the Lord, both in their private lives and also their public witness. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_76a58a6848b844438276b03f458d2698.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_6dc6c730de3b41f1ab5539245c4513b2.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

International Mission Board president, Dr. Paul Chitwood, shares the World's greatest problem. In Romans 3:9–18, Paul explains that lostness is the World's biggest problem, because all have sinned against God. Lostness is an eternal problem and a universal one. The only solution to lostness is the gospel of Jesus Christ. From the beginning of time, each person is marked by the sting of the serpent, the sting of death. Jesus Christ reverses the sting of death when he was lifted up on the cross. All who place their trust in him by repenting of their sins will have eternal life. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_e380e85ebc354367bc68f81108b6ca03.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_3007f55024be4a34a6c13b4d8a380481.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

As a wrap up to the year, Pastor Jason reminds us of the importance of living between grace and glory. After defining saving grace, he proceeds to make observations from Titus 2:11-3:8. Paul instructs Titus on the power of grace, he reminds him of grace in salvation, and he insists on grace in all of Titus' teaching. For Christians, grace is foundational to living rightly for God's glory. Without grace, each person is deserving of eternal separation from God. But with grace, Christians experience God's salvation in their conduct, through humility, and through future promises. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_e615d775722044a4917652b8e8b77a25.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_7ce7e0166d31408991fde8becefc310d.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

The birth of Jesus Christ was not without its family drama! In this sermon, Pastor Andrew shows how the Gospel writers, Matthew and Luke, recount the events surrounding Joseph and Mary and the birth of Christ. The background details of Joseph and Mary's lives reveal that God is sovereign in choosing them and that he is gracious to enter into our messy lives. As the Gospel writers unfold the story, we see the importance of the virgin birth, God's power and holiness, Mary's humility, and Joseph's obedience. Although the circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus are unique and unlike any other occurrence in history, we can be thankful that God used a 'blended' family to bring about his purposes. God incorporates the family drama between Joseph and Mary into his great drama of salvation. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_cbfbec1227d84523a0e95421970530d6.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_b8dd8c534651446781df0d399dbe9644.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

Pastor Andrew Coleman continues our sermon series in the books of Zechariah and preaches on Zechariah 10. In this passage, we see that the people of Israel and Judah are destitute and afflicted because they have followed false gods and bad human leaders. Yet despite the people's sin and disobedience, the Lord yet again shows his immense kindness and compassion. The Lord promises restoration and redemption to his people. He offers words of comfort and hope, promising to once again deliver them from slavery, bless their land and make them prosperous, vanquish their powerful enemies, change their hearts and give them softened hearts of obedience. In this passage, it is clear that God not only saves his people--he also ENABLES them to follow him. Returning to the prophet Zechariah, Pastor Andrew preaches on Zechariah 7:1–14. Zechariah lived and prophesied in Judah after the Jewish people returned from exile in Babylon. The main thrust of God's message to his people is, "if you return to me, I will return to you." Mingled in Zechariah's prophesies are God's warnings and curses for sin. Because God is righteous, these warnings are just, necessary, and required. Ultimately, these curses and warnings point to Jesus Christ, who took on all the sin and guilt of those who believe in him. Without warnings or curses, we would not see the extent of our sin or the extent of Christ's powerful life. The point, then, of Zechariah 7:1–14 is that God's wrath comes against false religion that masks diamond-hard hearts. So, our only hope, as in the days of Zechariah, is God's MESSIAH -- HE transforms our hearts. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_95545cdad53d4028ae8b505a0e2cb2ea.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_f85fbc5cc37a4fb5afb8246d9ad3475a.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

In today's sermon, Pastor Ben Nistor preaches on Isaiah 40: 1-31. In this passage, Israel is facing a time of great difficulty after sinning and turning from the Lord to worship idols. As a result, the Lord's judgment comes against Israel through the kingdom of Babylon. Babylon destroys Israel and hauls off the people to captivity. In response, Isaiah brings a word of comfort and hope to Israel. God promises to comfort his people by giving them the reminder of his greatness. This passage gives believers in Christ a proper response in times of darkness or discouragement as well. We see in Isaiah 40: 21--“Have you not known? Have you not heard?” A proper theology of God is crucial in times of difficulty. God is not too great to CARE and God is TOO GREAT to fail. We must trust him so that he can renew us with strength and fill us with hope (vv 30–31). Whether we struggle with sins or the circumstances of life, our strength and hope come from OUR GREAT GOD! ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_aa5a8b847a9e494d840a269b87ac0a85.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_f6e0c0b127ce426f849714df62a9094c.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: 3 Voices of Comfort Our Great God ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

The Protestant Reformation began in the year 1517. But long before that, the Old Testament recounts one of the greatest reformations to have taken place in God's story of redemption: King Josiah's Reformation. After many kings brought Judah in a place of moral darkness and separation from the Lord, the future for God's people seemed bleak. God used King Josiah's reign to respond to Judah's predicament: it was during King Josiah's reign that the Book of the Covenant was rediscovered. Shortly after the discovery, King Josiah began to reform Judah's religious commitments by removing false priests and practices. Josiah's reforms are a reminder that God's people must continually seek to reform their lives for HIS glory. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_7ae24447181e436f9e43da9b70af3bd0.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_b990cd3b4fad4c90af915b25840d692e.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

Zechariah 6:9–15 is a dream about the coming Messiah. In the dream, God confirms that several Jewish exiles will return to reestablish the crown of God's king at Jerusalem. Then, a man called, "The Branch," will rebuild the temple of God. This man, is Jesus Christ, whom Jeremiah predicts in Jeremiah 23:5-6. Jesus is the priest-king on the royal throne (Zechariah 6:13). His crown is a reminder to the people of the restoration of Jerusalem. Not only that, Jesus brings all sorts of people who are far off to help rebuild the temple. Now, the temple described in this passage is both literal and metaphorical. Historically, exiles from Babylon return and rebuild a temple. But ultimately, the temple that Jesus is building is the church (Matthew 16:18) that will be present in the heavenly Jerusalem (1 Peter 2:4–5). Those who place their faith in Jesus Christ will be part of this new temple and will experience God's eternal blessings in their lives (Zechariah 6:15). ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_6f0ad0f0238448b2883e4b338b84f20d.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_450a642c53224a94866510110786e306.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

Continuing our series in the book of Zechariah, Pastor Andrew preaches from Zechariah 5: 5-11. In this passage, we learn about the seventh dream in a series of eight dreams that Zechariah had in one night. In this dream, Zechariah sees a woman in a flying basket. The point of the dream is to confront Israel's past sin and rebellion. God confronts Israel's past sin and rebellion by reminding them of his great salvation, by reminding them of the Levitical requirement for sacrifice, by pointing them to the future hope of the Messiah's coming, and by admonishing them to repent and obey. A great threat for Christians today is the same as it was in Zechariah's day: the seductiveness of the wickedness and idols of the Babylon of our age. God's true people must see through the deception and remain in repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus (see Acts 20:21). ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_084e768ef46144bdb8336e9fa5eae0dc.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_8bf378fcb9534a4392ec89f8b803f2a9.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

Continuing our series in the book of Zechariah, Pastor Andrew preaches from Zechariah 5: 1-11. In this passage, we learn about the sixth dream in a series of eight dreams that Zechariah had in one night. In this dream, Zechariah sees a flying scroll with a judgment from the Lord. We see in this dream that God does not allow sin to go unpunished. Those who have been sinned against have comfort that God will deal with the perpetrators. Those who have sinned are warned that they need to repent and seek God's mercy. We also see the reassuring truth that those who look to God's Messiah, Jesus Christ, find His mercy and grace. Those who reject God's Messiah will experience His judgment and wrath. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_0b51f1aba8cb4dd9b60975480f0a8d0c.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_aafcc3cba2d8474788d77aa0d57bb90b.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Background & Review Observations from the Text Meaning of the Flying Scroll Vision ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

The fourth and fifth dreams are the climax of the eight dreams and both point to the Messianic kingdom. In Zechariah 4: 1-14, we look at the fifth dream, which depicts a lampstand with two olive trees by it. The seven lamps of the lampstand represent the presence of God. The two olive trees represent God's priest and God's king. Through this dream, we see the big picture message that God's kingdom comes through his Priest and King--Jesus Christ! ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_c45763705c2248a09dbb15001e788617.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_bb1bce1a760a4ff7a0fe92bd951f28b2.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

This fourth dream depicts Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord in filthy clothing. In the dream, the angel of the Lord removes the filthy clothing and gives Joshua pure and clean clothing. The angel of the Lord also prophecies of "the Branch"--the coming Messiah--who will bring salvation and cleansing. We see many important truths in this passage. We see that God CHOOSES and PURSUES his people, despite their uncleanness and sinfulness. We see that God RESTORES sinful humanity through the Savior, Jesus Christ. We see that God has begun a work of restoration in his people--protecting them and placing his glory on them. We also see that God restore ALL of the nations--he will bring his peace and salvation to all who turn to him. Several take-aways are clear in this passage. We see that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of these promises in Zechariah, we understand that Christians are called to flee wickedness and run towards godliness, we ought to celebrate and be filled with joy for we are the nations experiencing a joining with God, and we ought to turn from rebellion against the Lord and turn to Christ, for the Lord is coming. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_69a6ae199c2f460fb28cb332d7f43c86.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_548b129708714bcc9dd1130b06aaa3d2.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Context The Work of Restoration Has Begun The Glory of the Lord is Coming Upon the Nations Our Response Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

The Old Testament sets the stage for understanding better the gospel of God. One of the most important aspects of God's Gospel is His presence in the midst of His people. Whenever God is present with His people, they experience His blessings. Whenever God is absent, His people experience curses. Ultimately, God's presence is restored through the great redemption of Jesus Christ, of whom Zechariah prophesied. In this passage we see the unlawful and discriminatory trial, the brutal torture, and the intense suffering that Jesus withstood for the sake of his people. As he faces the unfair trial before Pilate, it becomes clear that in reality, Jesus is not the one on trial--Pilate is. Jesus, the King of the universe, could have left the situation at any moment. "Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?” (Matthew 26: 52-53). Jesus CHOSE to obey the Father and undergo immense suffering because of his great MERCY, LOVE, and GRACE toward his people. It is through him that we are saved! "But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast" (Ephesians 2:4-9). ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_4029f477f3e84bee902e330f2724e4c6.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_fceebf82dff44c6bb498683d2d9a1a06.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: See the context of our text (Mark 15: 1-20) Overview of Jesus' trials Key Observations ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

This passage is heavy, as we observe the religious council's corruption in their fake "trial" of Jesus, the high priest's accusation of blasphemy against Jesus, and the council's determination that Jesus deserved to be condemned to death. Following this "trial", we see Peter deny his affiliation with Jesus three times and then break down in sorrow when he realizes his error. As we examine this passage, we observe that it is possible to deny Jesus Christ through our words, our actions, or even our inactions. Yet for a true believer (as in Peter's case), denying Christ in WORD or DEED will bring great sorrow. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_cd952500114b418ab50f84cff118576a.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_1bafc4a085ca4d089394b933dd7b655f.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Mark's Gospel is Taking Us to the Cross Remember the Context of our Text (vs. 53-72) Overview of Jesus' Trials Key Observations What Are the Ways You May Deny the Lord Jesus? ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

We see the sinful nature of other characters in the account, as many flee in fear of being incriminated with Jesus. Yet through it all, we see that Jesus knows and understands the problem of man's sin nature. He does not trust in man. He follows the sovereign plan of God. His desire is for the Scriptures to be fulfilled. Mark 14:48-49: "And Jesus said to them, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me?
